Rahman's daughter in Mumbai hospital

Music maestro AR Rahman's daughter Raheema had been admitted to the Asian Heart 
Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai, earlier this week following cardiac problems but is 
'recovering fast'. 

"For the past three nights I have exclusively been playing the role of a loving 
father, with no music, nothing. I want to sincerely thank all my friends and 
family members for their prayers and good wishes," Rahman posted on his Twitter 
page. 

"God has been kind and Raheema is recovering fast. I also want to thank all my 
friends from the media for their support and for respecting our privacy," he 
added. 

The 11-year-old was operated upon by doctors on Wednesday night. Rahman has two 
more children - daughter Khatija, 14 and five-year-old son, Ameen.

Pune edition ) reports that Rahman's daughter is recovering and out of danger.

I am sure, with so many good wishes, Raheema will recover fully and back in

If you are mistaking him with Aslam Mustafa of "Ponmagal Vandaal" (ATM) 
fame...then he is NOT the same person..! Mustafa Kutaone is altogether a new 
name in the AR's dynasty of singers!!!

the very first note to the very last
 in this track, which to me, is one of ARR's finest tracks ever. The Tamil 
version (Usure Pogudhey) I feel expresses the feelings

remade...also...there were 2-3 other songs original to Lakeer

barring the Rhythm remakes,...Lakeer was one of Rahman's worst soundtracks 
imoBUT he responded quickly with the magical masterpiece Meenaxi that year 
(if i remember correctly)

Thank u Gomz and Vinayakam :D. Haha. Ohh yes Vinayakam, totally forgotten bout 
it. I liked Lakeer for the additional 3 songs, Esp Sadiyaan. Thats a beautiful 
melody. and i liked the song by the Viva Girls. The remakes were not so nice. 
Nacheley surely was kickass song, but i guess the element of the 
panchabootangal went missing in this. I think Rhythm as an album comes in a 
package. Each of the song sounds very appropriate and connected in the album. 
Thats y i recommended it, guess it should not fall under the "Non 
dubbed/remade" songs. My mistake on that. Thanks for the notification 
Vinayakam. :)

Tamil and Telugu movies are available with English subtitles in youtube. You
can also purchase DVDs with subtitles. There are NO hindi subtitles.
Subtitles are mostly in english. I dont know Telugu.. But I  have watched
atleast 50 Telugu films and enjoyed them, juz coz of subtitles.

By the way, VTV HINDI REMAKE news is just a rumour. I spoke to Gautham's
assistant recently. It is not going to happen! Kaakha Kaakha remake with
John Abraham is also a rumour!

It was a nice, pleasant surprise to hear shades of Raaga Bhairavi in 
Raavan's/Raavanan's music.  Which other ARR songs from the past have used Raaga 
Bhairavi, for those of you who know raagas?

A few come to mind:

 - Parts of Man Mohanna from JA, esp. the intro string interlude and flute 
interludes
 - Sabaq Aisa from Tehzeeb, used heavily here
 - The choruses of Taal Se Taal Mila (the Antara is in Kirwani)

I don't know of any Bhairavi songs in Tamil, but I may be mistaken.  Anyone 
want to add to this list, if you can think of some?

It is an original score brother.

Apart from TAMIL , HINDI etc. ARR has composed ORIGINAL SCORES for TELUGU
and MALAYALAM.
A kannada film called Sajni, was the REMAKE of the TAMIL FILM JODI. The
films producers obtained permissions from Rahman and producers, and used the
same tracks in Kannada.

Rajasthani album he's ever created I and really wish he scores for a period

Iam not excited because eventhough, JAANE TU was a SUPERHIT soundtrack, it
was a VERY AVERAGE soundtrack compared to Rahman standards. I will certainly
be excited about Shankar's Endhiran, or Imitaz Ali's Rockstar [Only Coz of
the Genre which is left unexplored by ARR], and his upcoming HOLLYWOOD
films!

We’re glad Beera is the
song
with
which the music album of Raavan opens. No other song on the
album
declares
more joyously that the master, A R Rahman, is back where he belongs—in the
company of Mani
Ratnam
and
Gulzar, where he’s once again churned out a thumpingly good album. Of
course, after the disasters that were Blue, Yuvvraaj and Couple’s Retreat,
anything that sounds remotely fresh will be welcome. But in this case, we
would say that the relief is well-deserved.

There’s no doubt that the songs follow certain trademark Rahman-isms. From
the lively percussion in Beera, to the angry rock riffs of Behene de to the
saccharine sweet female voice on Khili re, there’s much that old Rahman
hands will find familiar. Thok de killi, performed by Sukhwinder Singh,
especially, triggers nostalgia for songs like Dhakka laga from Yuva and
Paathshala from Rang
DeBasanti,
with a similarly energetic chorus line and upbeat
melody
.
Beera, performed by Vijay Prakash, is by far the best track on the album, a
paean to the Raavan-like character portrayed by Abhishek
Bachchan.
Karthik does a splendid job singing Behne de, which has a haunting quality
that Rahman has not tapped since Roja’s Yeh haseen wadiyaan. Just like the
latter had echoes of the mountains and valleys of the Himalayas, Behne de
mimics the turbulent flow of a river that can’t be controlled—only
appropriate given that the song compares love to a river that engulfs all
that venture into it (Behene de ghanghor ghataa/behene de paani ki tarah).

Love seems to be a bit of a villain in Raavan. Ranjha Ranjha, by
Rekha
Bharadwaj
and Javed Ali, also expounds on the helplessness a lover feels (Ranjha
Ranjha na kar Heere/Jag badnami hoye/patti patti jhad jaawe/ Par khushboo
chup na hoye), while Kata Kata—by Ila Arun, Sapna Awasthi and Kunal
Ganjawala—opens with a raucous shehnai. It compares a new bridegroom to a
lamb being led to slaughter. Khili re is a rather conventional love song—it
has a strong classical base, but Reena Bhardwaj’s breathy vocals and clichéd
lyrical motifs of blooming flowers turn it into a bore.

The album (priced at Rs 160) will sound comfortingly familiar to fans who
were dismayed by Rahman’s outputs last year. On the flipside, though, Rahman
does not break new ground. We like that he’s not let a single voice
dominate, even his favourite Sukhwinder; this is perfectly in keeping with
the folk vibes of the
music.
But we wish he would’ve got at least one soaring, pitch-defying number for
us to marvel.
