[arr] Remanika jingle was it really an A R Rahman musical ??

2010-06-29 Thread Pramod
Hi friends,

With the Remanika jingle being shared and talked about now, I have always
wondered if it was ARR who actually composed it.

I faintly remember to have read in a Malayalam monthly (think it was
'Vanitha') years back that it was Rajeev Menon who had penned the lyrics,
composed the tune, sung, cinematographed and directed the the Remanika
jingle. Rajeev's mother Kalyani Menon had rendered the female voice

Jingles for Leo Coffee, Cinthol etc and also the Asianet theme song, have
that inimitable A R Rahman signature.. Some of them also reminds us of a
few of his later compositions too.

But I do not get that Rahmanish feel in the Remanika jingle...May be
I'm wrong here (because I have it in mind that it is a Rajeev Menon
composition !!!)...

I agree that the prelude bit has some ARR like feel to it.. May be ARR
arranged the recording or helped Rajeev to fine-tune it or something like
that ??? I'm just guessing
So, can someone officially (or quasi-officially !!!) confirm this please ???

Warm regards,

Pramod.

[arr] Re: Types of movies I'd like ARR to work with

2010-06-29 Thread kitcha_swamy
Yes, films like Taare Zameen Par is what we need. No complaints about the Music
by Shankar Ehsaan Loy in "Taare Zameen Par" though. Music and the score in TZP
was super fabulous. Hats off to Shankar's team. If you guys are interested to
watch the latest interview of Shankar Mahadevan, click the link below. The
interview goes for almost 20 mins :).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCS446T6o_c&feature=player_embedded

Coming back to films, I always feel that the movie should enhance the music and
the music should enhance the movie. There should be a tough competition between
the script, making & the music. Movies with such calibre should be taken. Well,
its easier said than done. According to me, movies should be accepted only
based on the story value and the impact it can make through screenplay and of
course, the characters twined. Above all, there is always a divine & magical
events that occur during the coarse of the creative spectrum that certain
movies get hammered into our head and we could never get it out from our lives.
Such movies happen rarely but I'm really hoping to remember much more movies to
cherish in future.

There are so many untapped stories and ideas that could provide necessary
landscape(or should we call soundscape) for a musical score to soar high. But I
also belive that the risk to invest into such movies is sky high, considering
the piracy at its humongous best these days. Its totally sad and fatal for
movie makers. So the idea should be really promising, the budget should be just
within limits(seriously don't know that that limit is) but still provide a
stunning experience watching the movie. It needs much more creative imagination
to do that but given the amount of quality movie makers we have in our Nation,
it should all be possible. Otherwise we would have not seen movies like Anjali,
Mouna Ragam, Nayagan, Taare Zameen Par, Lagaan, Pushpak/Pesum Padam(kamals
terrific movie which has no dialogues), Sindhu Bhairavi, Paruthi Veeran,
Wednesday and so many more

I think I've said enough lol. Finally, I've an Idea. I want to see a movie
where there is literally no songs but the whole movie just demands our AR's
Music from Frame1. I want the Music in the Movie to be breathless :). I don't
think there is a concept like that ever happened in movies. So why not create a
script with such an idea? Hopefully the Gurus out there can get some spark :)

Jai Ho !!!

Exactly! Also ARR is busy, he cant possibly work with every director with
whom he worked in the past. Furthermore, (IMHO) Ghajini was also not among the
greatest works of ARR

As always, a great review from you, ARRvind. Indra will always remain as one of
my favorite albums mainly due to Thoda Thoda. It's truly a magical track- and
that is an understatement, really.
There are times when you have poor singers spoiling a really good song, there
are times when you have amazing singers being wasted in a mediocre number, and
there are also times when you have amazing songs being performed by amazing
singers, nevertheless wasted through poor picturisation.
But Thoda thoda is a number where everything falls into the right places- the
amazing music, lyrics & singing were beautifully reflected through the poetic
picturisation. ..and leaves you asking for more! Thanks again for sharing your
views on Indra with us :)
I'm currently revisiting Alai Payuthey- and was left speechless with the
beautiful tracks, just as I was 10 years back...well more now than then, I
believe. Will be writing my views on them soon.

Regards,
Gayathri

Dear All,
Its been a while since I last wrote in the forum but there is a project
being worked on and I was hoping to get the participation of die hard AR
Rahman fans within this forum.

It's not that hard really, just send in your favourite AR Rahman quote to
arrquo...@youteez.com

Don't forget to send in your name, address, email and telephone number with
the e-mail.

If your quote is the one we choose to use in the project, you will win a
A.R. Rahman gift hamper.

Best of luck.

Brothers.. ARM knows that he cant afford to get ARR for every movie of his,
coz ARR is extremely busy now and is on the verge of global superstardom. He
knows that hez not a Shankar or a Mani Ratnam, to get full time association
with ARR. Hence he went for Harris.
ARR doesnt even have time to score for the BIGGEST PROJECTS in the country.
Let Harris have his share of big projects. Harris will not anyway get
projects like Raavan. So let him do what he gets. Murugadoss's Ezham Arivu
is budgeted at around 50 Crore, and is a Bilingual in Tamil and Hindi.
ARR doesnt have time to spare for such projects. Hez too busy with concerts
and Hollywood projects.

[arr] A strange FANTASY song

A child starting a song , with some sneezing going on than the beautiful voice
of sujatha embellish a beautiful strange tune, with a stick MUSIC which is
sounding quiet wierd. the sound coming out of the song is very pleasing .

the whole song swaying in different patterns of tunes which i really liked. The
most special thing in the song is the second interlude a sheer delight.just
listen it from 3:21 - 3:26 ah its magnificent , the girls have just touched the
most beautiful notes and the rendition seems to be in classical music.SUPERB !
TOO GOOD. how brilliantly they say toum toum toum toum and the way they end it
magical . i listening this part again n again . wow

even after that the chorus continues in a beautiful rendition with hints of
mridangam in background.

the song is a fantasy , i will recommend everyone to listen it , and especially
the second interlude.
ARRAHMAN you are surely the pinncale of music.

but you will say which song it is , its ALANKATTI MAZHAI from thenali , the
movie and its music not much talked about . but this song is exceptional stuff

A.R. Murugadoss was never an ARR Man.. He has always been a Harris man only.
In fact he wanted Harris for Hindi Ghajini too. It was Aamir Khan who opted
for ARR.

Nothing to worry. We have all big directors with us, and let Harris also
have some good movies. He is missing in the Tamil scene now.

Dont expect extra-ordinary music in this. It would probably be a feel-good
simple soundtrack with simple, but peppy hummables like Kabhi Kabhi Aditi.
ARR scored this, after taking sometime from his hectic schedule.

Expect the extra-ordinary in Endhiran(Robot)

Re: [arr] Re: Types of movies I'd like ARR to work with

2010-06-29 Thread Roshan
I would like him to do small budget yet artistic Indie movies in addition to
the regular list of directors he work with. some great indie movies have
been coming out recently in India and some even had great music. some were
terrible. but a talent like AR would add a huge difference to the movie and
will actually give it a more exposure. If AR really wants to "Give back" to
the indian film industry, here is a noble way to do that. help some good
small budget movies get some exposure.
