Thanks 2 Thulasi-ji 4 vdo record as i missed telecast due 2 some circumstances. I feel mr.ARR must b allowed 2 b with keyboard 4 making him feel comfortable. But if he had been compelled 2 perform like that, then it is unncecessary. Karoke kinda presentation. He will ve an i-pod to grasp d songs back stage. But raam's reference 2 headphones is 2 render vocals without distraction of background music played like singers wear headphones in recording studios. Feb 12, 2007 I had no idea which flight AR was coming in - all I had with me was an unconfirmed news that he was coming in the IA Flight reaching TVM at 11.10AM. I went to the aiport and was relieved to see a KAIRALI TV car parked there, with cameras ready at the airport's exit. The flight was delayed by around 20 minutes and reached only at 11:30am. Within 10-15 minutes, I could spot Yesudas inside the airport waiting to pick up his luggage. I could not spot ARR.. (I had also checked with the airport folks whether AR was coming in this flight - and they had said yes). So I was kinda worried when I could not spot him... Anyways, it took some time for them to come out of the airport coz of the cargo delay. Camera flashes started going off like mad, People started crowding all of a sudden, policemen seemed to come out of nowhere - ARR was on his way out with his Amma. He came down the aisle, was walking towards the car. I was wearing the group T-Shirt, which has his foto on it. He gave a nice stare onto it, smiled at me. I told him Hi AR Sir, welcome to Trivandrum. I am from the ARR group . He acknowledged and moved on to his car I went round and again landed in front of him and said, Sir, The group in TVM would like to have a meet with you if it is not going to cause ANY incovenience to you. AR : Hmmm... Do you have any number? (Damn me, I didnt have a pen, a paper or a visiting card @ that time) He understood my situation and said come to the hotel. Well, 1 thing i noticed here was, as soon as AR heard I am from the group, his response was fabulous. He kept on talking to me, even when the organisers kept the car door open and was requesting AR to get inside the car. [ Well.. after that, if anyone saw me driving to the hotel , they would have understood that even a Maruti 800 could complete in a F1 race. :-) ] .. En route. I called up the group friends at TVM who had contacted me (Srijith, Swapna, Praveen, Sarath Lal, Hakkeem and the Seven Bells band) and asked them to come to the hotel immd. I reached the hotel around 12.15pm, but AR hadnt arrived yet. (Later, got a confirmation that he had gone to the Bheemapally mosque directly from the airport to pray). AR reached after half an hour. We were waiting at the entrance of the hotel, He smiled at us and went inside the hotel with his Amma, accompanied by the Kairali crew. We decided to wait for however long it was going to take. After around 20 mins, the Kairali person came up and said You came to meet AR right? Pls come this way... There was no sign of ARR anywhere nearby, and the other flks had not reached yet, so we decided to wait on at the lobby. Re:[arr]Are Rahman's songs too hard to sing - not new to anyone
This view of his songs being complexed is a very very old opinion well expressed immediately after the release of few of his films in entry level like roja, iruvar, gentleman, jeans, kadhalan, kadhal virus, en swasa katrae days which created waves among youngsters. By that time itself popular local light music orchestra-bands openly agreed in interviews as arr's songs are difficult to perform in their light music shows picking the better ones to play that does not need much technical support or complicated instrumental arrangements. If common man can spend 2 hours in theatres screening hollywood movies often... without much understanding actors' accented language but just to see their way of picturisation, they can also enjoy rahman's music absolutely. mr.Arr sees to that he satisfy all category pple by giving variety in a movie album, classical, folk, melody, rock, rap etc. what more one need. Experimental is his nature. Uncommon is his approach. So his sounds sound bit complicated. Otherwise he will be just one more MD in the list of music directors, so that it wont make pple to compare him with other MDs. If some pple could not digest his music criticise one or other way thro reviews to bring him down, for finding way to other MDs, then that spells his GRAND SUCCESS ! he dares to dream in different perspective of music. luck favours brave ! rgds shwetha avinash [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I think Rahman is first MD in India, who truly given justice to the word called O.S.T (Original Sound track). In foreign films OST consist of BGMs and songs (songs from various artists) They use old or fresh songs from various artists in background, say title credits, or in situations like party, malls, in the car stereo etc. etc. Exactly what Rahman is doing is, songs which you can relate to the movie only. Most of the time he never think about the public, that they should hum or recreate the song. He give importance to evoke the situation and mood of films plot. Secondly Rahman is perfectionist and thoroughly professional. His music is confident and moving without any flaws. This is what makes common man his music indigestible. Most of people just love his beats and sound, but never analyze the song thoroughly. -Avinash --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, Ajit [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: For now, I'm speaking about his Hindi output. When I listen to songs like Ay Hairathe, Tere Bina, Lukka Chuppi, Tu Bin Bataye, Yeh Rishta, Yeh Jo Desh, Saawariya, Pal Pal Bhari, Desh Ki Mitti, Naina Neer, Piya Ho, etc. etc. etc., there is no doubt in my mind that no other musical director in recent times has created as powerful and moving melodies as our Boss. Nevermind the arrangements, rhythm, sound, for which our Boss is already king and known for it. There is an evergreen stamp to many of his recent melodies. However, I don't hear the media or the general public raving about his sense of melody too often. And I think it's ignorant to say that Rahman should be known for his technical skills rather than his tune skills. Without a doubt, the man is a master tunesmith. I just don't see how people don't realize that when listening to the examples above. One reason why his melodies may not be as appreciated as they should is based on a comment that my parents made recently after listening to some of Rahman's songs. They like Rahman a lot and know how brilliant he is, etc. However, they keep mentioning how the songs of today in general compared to the evergreen years lack powerful yet simple melodies and moving lyrics. When I point to Rahman's songs, they agree that his songs are melodious, but the THEY ARE HARD TO SING. For them, that is the sticking point, that Rahman's songs are often too difficult to sing (unless one is a trained and talented singer) and one cannot hum them as easily. Seems like an overly simplistic point, but perhaps to the commaon man, it's true. While Rahman's songs are beautiful, full of melody, the melodic contours are often full of twists and turns and tinged with a classical bent, making them difficult for the average person to just listen with ease and to hum along. I think this makes a difference with popularity. Many of Rahman's most commercially successful numbers were ones that were not only catchy, but easy to hum along and sing with. Maybe this is the reason why Nadeem Shravan were called the melody kings (don't make me laugh too hard). Although their melodies were often stale and cheesy, their songs were easy to sing along with, light and easy music for the common man to digest. Not that Rahman has to ever stoop as low as NS, but perhaps there is a point here. One of the reasons why the song Tere Bina is so popular is perhaps that along with being beautiful and brilliant, the melody itself is fairly simple enough to understand and remember easily, esp. the dham dhara dham part.

Re: [arr] Are Rahman's songs too hard to sing for the common man?
To Dear Ajit_ji Mundra-Ji :-) Sorry to kid u. I thought of addrsng u with twice ji's as one for targeting video two days back now audio is fired to mean what i say here now. What happnd ? Mind breaking ! .. First u targeted the directors to mention you want to see mr.ARR work only with bollywood directors especially mr.gowariker for others are not visualising his songs properly. Now its audio turn, TO TARGET MR. RAHMAN HIMSELF. If you subtract your arguments.., the resultant will be M/s.Nadeem Shravan other such simple music making bollywood MDs must work with bollywood directors. Good going. As per your argument already mr.ARR is not composing all of bollywood movies as there r other BW-MDs doing their bit. Then why worry. Only few BW-Dirs pick mr.ARR. Added to that If that is your such fans' wish then Fans in other regions ll be happier ever than now to enjoy ARR's works in more regional films than this too much expecting fans of bollywood for they could be not be satisfied by any means. Sorry to ask something in general to all such dissatisfied fans, whether are they correct in all, 100% ? If you analyse like this you cannot enjoy any outcome of present entertainment. Its better to realize enjoy the works as it is... presented. Otherwise you will not find satisfaction forever. Take life as it comes. No fuss needed. I like to refer what gr8 visuals we see in Water movie songs, a serious theme. It is ordinary. But songs are extraordinary. We do not need visuals at all, when we able to appreciate any kind of good music. Even in garments designing, MISMATCH is also a fashion than usual matching. So if visuals do not match just forget enjoy music. For that it is not fair to pin-point certain things directly or indirectly. Or intentions ? To me my friends, when it is music, we wont switch on video songs for... that will distract from enjoying music completely. And if we wish to see video, wont try to match the audio and just enjoy the visuals. Visuals in songs are not depicting reality. Just an exaggeration, imagination even absurd to say be it any movie, if you analyse deep in your way to say people do not dance daily or do not sing nearly 5 mts. while shopping or while doing any action for that sake be it a simple song. Kindly consider my post in right spirit. Rgds Ajit [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: For now, I'm speaking about his Hindi output. One of the reasons why the song Tere Bina is so popular is perhaps that along with being beautiful and brilliant, the melody itself is fairly simple enough to understand and remember easily, esp. the dham dhara dham
Re:[arr]RAHMAN should go SOLO now !!!
I donno why fans keep on finding fault with dissatisfaction. if such fans were allowed to shot movies, their imagination thinking cannot compete as at that point of time to shot a movie in pressure. whether their work will be upto these present directors are largely questionable ? what dir.mani sir gave in saathiya/alai payuthey songs cannot maintain in yuva/ayutha ezhuthu. similarly what he gave in dilse cannot fulfil in guru. the graph always varies according to story characters. when arr songs are not utilized in full like either in bgm or only 75% of the song played in a sequence or without attractive presentation automatically mean his songs are getting popular in solo mode. i don't think music lovers when they want to listen to a song immediately opt for a video cd instead of audio cd. comparatively music is enjoyed everywhere thro audio cds than thro video cd as it needs little bit effort to acquire a display. wherein audio cds just load in a disc man, plug ear phones roam in your terrace or your ipod or digital mp3 players give you that extra mileage. if u see in some audio cds one extra track will be added but totally dropped in screen version. that means they picturized even that extra song and due to duration of a movie, they had to cut the song completely which is the result we will be having it in audios only. in that case we do not even bother to know how the song picturised simply enjoy that extra song. Like that if arr's songs are not upto expectations in screen version, no mind. still the audio part dominate sounds hit always. ON THAT CONTEXT ARR GOES SOLO ONLY HERE. regards shwetha - We won't tell. Get more on shows you hate to love (and love to hate): Yahoo! TV's Guilty Pleasures list.
Re:[arr]A humle request - (abt Mallus view unacceptable)
Dear Krishnaraj Shahi Instead of having a one-sided judgement, why cannot it be in other way. mr.Jesudas could have even refused couple of offers from mr. A.R.Rahman due to mr.JDS's personal priorities also of the fact he might want to see his son mr.vijay in singing assuming mr.vijay is more interested he is in a situation to give way for his son. Till he is there in the field he cannot give opportunities to his son. If you take Mr.SPB it might be different case. If his son is not interested in singing, mr.spb cannot compel him. So mr.spb need not bother accept offers whatever come his way. So there are super seniors (very aged wise) seniors (middle aged wise). No such problems for seniors - Mr.Hariharan Iyer Madam Chitra Chechi. How long you want these super seniors to sing with a fact they cannot give it in full what they were giving before and also upon regard for them, Music Directors cannot instruct them as before with demands like time issues. Also commanding super seniors to MDs expectation will not be the same ever after certain period of time. It is like in India there are lot of senior citizens who could get a job easily even after retirement to their level of understanding executing it easily but still hesitate to take it up for they cannot accept their new seniors easily who will instruct them give work to them with a command. Its better to maintain some understanding in distance instead of getting bitter experiences between them for both of them (Both - MDs Super Senior singers). Mr.Jesudas now would be more interested happy to see his son singing. He has passed the stage to accept offers. So many perspectives are there when you think about an issue. First of all its the singers' decision. Some senior singers would like to quit some would like to be in touch with few offers. Hope in each every thing there are TWO SIDES no need to come to conclusions. And, yes, we performed Vellai Pookkal - from Kannathil Mudhalmittal. This was probably for the first time ever that Rahman's song was presented in 3 languages, TAMIL, MARATHI and HINDI. It gave the student audiance a chance to know Rahmans strength in Tamil music scene. This song was very well received. The group also SUCCESSFULLY performed the difficult and emotionally charged BOMBAY THEME. I have said time and time again, whosoever will attempt and master this theme, knows his RAHMAN and knows it well ! This group proved yet again that they have learnt their RAHMAN sound and rhythm extremely well. For two songs Pathshala and Yun Hi Chala chal the group received request for ONCE MORE, and the group obliged with the audience's request. The crowd was over 1500 students of the college and knowing their apetite for foot-tapping numbers, the TWS group had made correct selection of songs. Inspite of the fact that the programme was outdoors and it was windy and its effect on microphones, the audience did not mind it at all and they just wanted the group to play on and on and ont. Thank you Fergusson College, you were a great audiance and true RAHMAN fans The next set of programmes are planned for this Wednesday 7'th and Saturday 10'th, both in Pune. [arr] Arr's Interview in BigFm - B'lore
Thanks for the audio clip. Why Rahman's voice is not clear when compared to those two compererers in the recent interview for Sajni in Big FM. Radio pple cud ve done something to get his voice in clear sound. i was bit irritated, when these two compererers repeatedly confusing that guy to answer which is arr's 1st movie- roja or rdb? the way they did, cud even make him to answer rdb !!! At the end he didn't get confused answerd roja to win a worldspace radio. He is lucky ;-) regards shwetha - No need to miss a message. Get email on-the-go with Yahoo! Mail for Mobile. Get started.
[arr] Giga Works T20 - Help Plse
Dear Fans Sorry to ask about this here. I know this is ARR's forum. This is also best place to get to know about Speakers ..., when it is for music for the fact i read from old messages, even technical issues related to music acoustics discussed previously. There are Creative 2.1, 5.1 etc.. but the said model from Creative 2.0 called Gigaworks T-20. I prefer to get this to get the best sound in 2.0 range models as thats enough. But it is not available even in places like bangalore, bombay, chennai etc. I know its very much available in singapore and the indian distributors import creative multimedia spkrs from them and sell here with ONE-YEAR WARRANTY SERVICE but not this said model. Those who are here, please check with your end guide me where can i get this model in india with warranty service issues. If i swipe it from abroad i cannot claim warranty here and the cost will also be more. Or if you are sure it wont be available in india, kindly suggest best branded multimedia speakers with only 2 speaker options (2.0) equivalent to the above model thats available in india. Thanks in advance. Regards Shwetha - Never miss an email again! Yahoo! Toolbar alerts you the instant new Mail arrives. Check it out.

Re: [arr] Shauk Hai Song as BGM - Guru
dear rakesh thanks for the bgm song. sounds nice. amr file also plays well in real player 10 after seeking 3gpp plug-in to download install automatically. but dialogues affect the song bit as we have to give our ears deep into it to listen to the tune. lasts for 1 mt. 35 sec. i feel they will not add this to later edition of cds as it is quite small. or if they add the new instrumental theme, then they may consider this too to call it as special edition. regards shwetha just me! Re: [arr] Tamil Guru does not have the real feel
Hey guys ! for all your regrets just go and read a member by name Ajay Goels fitting replies to the Rediff's review and his many views for other members who plays down in the column write message, below that rediff review. He had given many views then there in the same column in alternate ways. Ajay's one of the big post even hidden as reported abuse when he displayed his facts. I support his views when I read a rediff member's one-liner which was hidden says Mumbai has all coolie's from South. I feel media has a greater responsibility to integrate nation in the name of fair unbiased expression. Such people public become part of many villains in our country who wants to divide nation with ill-expression over other communities. In this progressive world based on education and technology India lags behind because of such narrow minded approach and non-acceptance of others successes broadmindedly. Hope rahman fans will put their efforts by publishing their positive views in such columns in various websites where they find misguiding reviews and views. Regards Shwetha Roshan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: rediff has a bunch of pretentious reviewers and reporters. I had once posted about it when Guru's music was released. that raja sen is a pseudo intellect. the only thing he will rate high would be if it has any resemblance to any movie he might have seen on DVD, otherwise all others are just bad. thats his view. and a common motto of rediff is that they will never say good about anyone who is famous, successful. take for example AR Rahman. Raja sen once unnecessarily dragged his name in a bad way while he was talking about Omkara's music. Same goes when they reviewed Guru's music. same they did when RDB released. but despite of all these, they all became classics. it could be because rediff is not getting enough interviews from AR Rahman, Maniratnam or aishwarya rai ( oh yeah.. they hate her too, this same guy, raja sen reviewed her Website!!!) or may be just because they don't like them. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, yeshrao81 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Friends, One thing Im upset about is the Rediff's attitude in reviewing great movies like Guru. Why does this guy not understand that Guru is just dubbed in Tamil to make tamil audience understand the dialogue and not completely think of it as a Tamil film Even the Hindi review of Guru in rediff was confusing...If this reviewer cannot write a review with clarity why is he commenting on great filmmakers like Maniratnam I think its time that we start appreciating great efforts and give them due credit. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, Gopal Srinivasan catchgops@ wrote: Tamil Guru does not have the real feel Sriram Iyer When Yuva was being made into a bilingual movie, the general feeling was that Mani Ratnam had learnt from his failure in Uyire. But these impressions have dispelled now that Guru has been dubbed and released in Tamil. Moreover, the story is supposed to be set somewhere in Thirunelveli in southern Tamil Nadu whereas the costumes and the set up resembles western India from where the original Hindi version is based. This hitch remains alive throughout the movie, successfully depriving the viewer of the real feel. This time around Mani narrates the story of Guru Nath Desikan (Abhishek Bachchan), a resolute boy from a small village who goes on to become one of the premier industrialists of the country. The journey is characterised by hard work, determination, passion, grit and quite a bit of the gray. His decision to marry Sujatha (Aishwarya Rai), his best friend's sister, only to get the dowry which he could use as his capital gives the viewer a clear idea of the character very early in the movie. The Nokia event held in Hong Kong, Mumbai, Berlin, Rio and New York featured major headline acts such as The Black Eyed Peas and the Scissor Sisters. The event kicked off at Hong Kong's Ocean Terminal with Atomic Kitten topping the bill and making their first international appearance since splitting in 2004. Despite the massive Internet challenges created by the recent earthquake in Taiwan, Hong Kong music fans were also able to stream the live concert footage directly to their mobile thanks to local operators. Then in India's Andheri Stadium in Mumbai, Bollywood superstars joined Nelly Furtado and others including the first English language composition by Indian musical legend A.R. Rahman - Pray For Me, Brother - an anthem dedicated toward the eradication of world poverty. As the party moved on to Berlin's Brandenburg Gate for the largest party in the event an estimated 1.2 million party-goers turned up to see Scissor Sisters play their hit singles I Don't Feel Like Dancin' and Comfortably Numb in a ninety-minute set that wowed the audience before a spectacular 10-minute pyrotechnics display erupted at midnight. Sugababes then took to the stage to carry on the party well in to the night. By the time the party got to Rio it was raining, but more than a million Brazilians braved the weather to witness a nine hour concert on Ipanema beach that included a performance by the Black Eyed Peas, John Legend and Brazilian music legend Sérgio Mendes. Sergio Mendes was making his first Brazilian live performance for 28 years and treated the crowd to a host of hits from his country's musical history. Finally in New York performances from Rihanna, Ludacris and KT Tunstall concluded the event. Those unable to be their in person could access the performances via a global television broadcast, as well as online at www.nokianewyearseve.com. Re: [arr] (Semi ARR) I met Sadhana Sargam yesterday !!
hello dinesh thats quite interesting thnx for sharing. i m also quite crazy abt her singing style. its really sad that bollywood is not regularly offering chances as far i know she had given lot of devotionals to times music other names. my angry is abt Filmfare award thats due to her very long long back. its really strange they could not choose one melody for FF award when compared to the songs they have awarded for like ek do teen in tezaab other mass masala hits that lacks melody/music etc.. i cant forget her songs harkisi ko in jaanbaaz, pehla nasha, a song in private album Koi to baat hai, Omkar tu ganesha songs. i cant stop praising her for her contirbutions in all genre of music, particularly i know abt her hindustani classical talent film songs almost in all languages that india has. And which place bombay or pune you met her yesterday. hope more of such info in detail will come from you in future when you meet her. btw i think she's around forty but you mentioned her as girl. so my curiosity is are you much more elder to her. how are you related. hope u take in lighter spirit. rgds shwetha ~ [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Heyy gr8... Since I met her after a long long time I enquired her about her current and future assignments. She told me that she is quite busy with playback singing and also concerts from time to time. I also had a brief chat with her over AR Rahman. She mentioned to me that she had told Rahman that there is a dedicated group of RAHMAN fans (fan club ) in Pune and he was quite amused with that news. I plan to invite Sadhana for the RAHMANIA shows which are planned in Pune during February 2007. Hope, she attends the same as I know, she is very busy. Her latest song in Tamil was from Godfather. I congratulated her for the lovely songs of WATER and for getting nominated ( indirectly ) for Oscars for the song Aayo ri sakhi. She is still a humble, soft, gentle and well behaved girl inspite of so much fame / talent and recognition. 7 - Ek lo Ek Muft - (situation - halla gulla - bombay) 6 - Maya Maya - (satrangi re - dil se ? ) 5 - Baazi laga - (typical old hindi songs style) 4 - Barso re (some more arr songs in this style - brinjal song in duet, gamble song in may madham) 3 - Jaagey Hain (good suits for school/college assembly prayer) 2 - Tere Bina (arr has added weight to chinmayee's voice technically = sounds amazing even resembles bombay jayashri's voice there) 1 - Aye Hairathe Ashique (beautiful classic piece - many songs handled on this raag) I feel accordian is used in almost all the songs here n there, if noticed.
