[arr] Re: Right headphones holds the key!

2010-05-05 Thread arrbals

Absolutely true. ARR's songs are purely to be enjoyed using headphones.
When headphones are used for ARR's music its a pleasure hearing cute, little
interlude sounds running from one ear piece to the other as if there is a
connection between both the ears .
The finishing part of "NewYork Nagaram" is a best example. Its pure
magic.

Luv u Rahman !

Re: [arr] Re: Right headphones holds the key!

2010-05-04 Thread Prasad Varma
For some of you guys who are wondering how sound cards, headphones and other
audio equipment discussions are relevant to AR's music, I must reiterate what
a few guys have been saying at this forum - It is very important that you
listen to his music on decent equipment.

While your listening pleasure is enhanced for all music in general, it is all
the more so for AR's music because he packs in so many hidden treasures that
can only be unraveled through a good system. It almost adds a whole new
dimension as the arrangements get cleaned up.AR himself to borrow a IPL phrase
that's been used ad nauseum is at the forefront of technology - check out his
Ipad video.

The good thing about it is, of late good quality equipment has become
reasonably affordable and is within the common man's reach. It is just that
listeners do not take the time or the pain to upgrade.

And its very important that you get the original CD too and stick to loss-less
formats if you decide to digitize them

They are not in-ears and they do not make a nice fashion statement but I'd
recommend Koss PortaPro for in-house use.

Why in-house? They are a little bulky and make you look like character from
Saturday Night Fever but boy they sound awesome especially at their price
range. If you are some one who favors functionality over form you will love it.

Check out the glowing reviews of the product here:

I wouldnt say they are worth the money, atleast thats the general opinion of
people.
But there is no denying that they are awesome.

you might probably get better headphones with the same money. but the reason
i opted for bose is that, you find a service center everywhere these days.
may not be the same case with the other stuff. And with headphones you never
know, it would hurt to see them just lying there after spending so much.

Am assuming you are using these Cans to listen from your PC with a decent sound
card. I am not keen to get attached to a PC despite a 10 ft cord for my music
listening.

How do they sound on a personal mp3 player like Ipod? I think a headphone
amplifier is almost essential to drive these bad boys if you are using an Ipod
or a receiver.

Any suggestions for headphones/earphones for mp3 players that does not cost an
arm and a leg?

Been listening to Raavan and most of the recent AR songs in ipod nano with a
sennheiser earphone.. it's magical! there are lots of sounds and little
details that would go unnoticed with the normal earphones and even ipod's
original earphone. so, yeah.. the right headphone / earphone is the key.
quality music deserves good music players and decent earphones / sound
systems.

I thought of posting similar thoughts. Thanks for filling me in. Rahman songs
give the best on headphones. Blue was superb on the headphones. VTV was superb
on any speaker because the mixing was simply simple.

Coming to Ravan the layering over layering can be only captured on a headphone.
Swear you guys Ranjha Ranjha is the best layered mixed and produced song by him
over a period. The techno riffs just travels around all over. Beats- the bass
holds on. I have to mention this after listening to them on a BOSE Quiet
comfort 15.

Just listen to Ravan on a good headphone. If you dont have one you can invest
for rahman and his tracks. Enthiran has got some out of the world mixing. So
get ready.

Ps: Coming uo with my blog on Ravan soon.
