[arr] Jai ho concert (sep 12th OAKLAND)--Request
Fellow ARR fans/Gopal/Vithur, we are eagerly waiting for ARR to come back on sep12th in bay area.After the initial slip of June 26th date(pretty much sold out),we are hoping for the same crowd to come back. I have to humbly request ARR to consider a Raavan song as well as kabhi kabhi aditi.I totally understand the international feel to this concert.But we also need the ARR feel good songs to balance it. This will also balance out the crowd disappointment because of postponement of concert earlier. Hope ARR considers it and surprises us in oakland on sep 12th... GO ARR!!! we will rock on sep 12th.

Opinions may certainly differ on this issue (Gimmics). I for one am not in favor of the dances, lights, Fireworks etc as they certainly distract the attention from the beautiful melody of ARR's songs. Basically ARR's music is so powerful and spiritually uplifting, it works best if you just close your eyes and let the sound percolate deep within your heart... I guess, these so called gimmics may be useful to get the sponsors... And probably it is not expected that the sponsors be diehard Rahmaniacs Jai HO ! But, right from the start, I have been having this feeling that this certainly wasn't the way to do an AR's concert. Even after the oscars, even after all the media coverages and interviews.. 90% of his fans still remain South Asian community. because, the rest of the world have only heard Jai Ho and Slumdog Millionaire. And that is not a good enough reason to go to an expensive concert. I felt that promoters were trying to promote a big show rather than AR Rahman himself. if you look at the promo videos.. they are all about how grand this show is.. how good the technologies are used for the show etc.. But, not much about his music. I think, that is not going to do any good for AR Rahman or his music.

After four highly successful concerts, the tour was derailed by a serious accident in Detroit (US), where part of the stage infrastructure collapsed, destroying most of the staging, lighting and musical instruments. The shows in North America have been rescheduled for September.I regret the inconvenience this causes and apologize to my fans and all those who have contributed to the tour. The shows will be rescheduled as soon as possible. In my 15 years of doing concerts I have always put my fans first. The accident in Detroit has had a profound effect on all of us. I guess the real reason might be the production cost. After all, some reports in the news turn out to be true. If the music itself is rocking, what is the need for all these gimmicks ? Hope he would continue the tour with more musicians than dancers and tech guys.

ARR could have done more Tamil songs... I agree... 1. Khwaja could have been in Tamil 2. Inclusion of Maduraikku Pogadhadhee, Ella Pughazum could have been atleast thought of by Rapport Global 3. What happened to Urvashi medley with Taxi Taxi ? 4. What happened to the DJ remix ? Here, the debate is not of Tamil Hindi, but when AR performs in Chennai or anywhere in Tamil Nadu, its quite quite natural for people to expect him to perform Tamil Songs. Vande Mataram could have been done in Tamil... We could have heard Thai Manne Vanakkam instead of Maa Tuje Salaam. P.S. I am an INDIAN. I love every language, but AR is been seen as a Bollywood and a Hollywood composer in Chennai. that image has to change. I agree too. I a non tamilian wanted him to perform some tamil tracks. Whatever happened to all his 90s hit tamil songs. Sadly the reason is, the concert is thorughout the country and has 90% the same tracklist. Its a nightmare to rehearse already and with different tracks its close to impossible. List of songs sung at arr concert on 11th october, 2009 @ chennai ...jaage hain, khalbali, athiradeee kaaran , kadhal rojave, delhi6 theme ,jiya se jiye(prabhu n i fell down while huggin :D ), oru koodai sunlite, liquid dance, chandralekha( had some rap bits) , ringa ringa (the singer was tooo hot :P), fiqrana(sung by arr :) ),dil se re , jashn e bahara, snegithane(hindi + tamil + telugu) , mausam and escape instrumental (wowowowowow !!! ) , kahin toh , tamizha tamizha, uyire uyire (bombay), kabhi kabhi ( by some new guitarist from london), rehna tu ( arr explained wats the theme - acceptance - we gotta accept ppl as they are n live happlily, wit love :) ) , chaiya chaiya, taxi taxi(blaaze was AWESOME . . . crowd was MAD!!), maiya maiya (with a devilish touch ;) ) , azeem oh shah - slowly travelled to - veerapandi - awesome transition !!! , sivamani drums - feast !! ,khwaja n arziyan ( arr in islamic costume, with harmonium), kannanlene (bombay) (chitra !! + ARR dong the hindustani part) , jiya jale / nenjinile (in telugu !! dunno y he chose that lang), hariharan n arr tried some sing with me stuff, n hariharan started with ay hairathe ashiqui, aye bachoo( she said AYE, we said BACHHOO ;) ),mustafa mustafa ( feelings feelings - final year of coll ) (few little light balloons flew), blaaze back with humma humma rap b4 rahman took over , the most expected jai ho and an unbeilvable transition to vande mataram.. fireworks all around... for some 15 mins !! had our diwali rite here :) :) in the end, this gr8 guy comes on stage, n tells we could hv made a few mistakes, but u wouldnt have noticed it, ll try to do it better the next time WAT !! so humble !!! so down to earth???!! n finally says us to have a safe ride home - hw sweet :) :)
