Re: Implementation Q> ITSM 7 and "Shared People" as 'Generic Contact' Company

2007-02-14 Thread strauss
Here is a LONG answer to your multi-tenancy architecture question, which
has been keeping us up late at nights as well.

We are in the middle of a multi-tenancy design project for the
university, and came up with this plan, which is up for approval right
now:

A UNT Customer company contains all imported customers from PeopleSoft,
organized by department (160,000 active or 320,000 total records)
  - Some summaries, CTI, assignment rules will run against all customers
in this container, and will set Owner on Department
  - Every login that uses LDAP authentication will be in this container
  - Every login will only have permissions like Incident Viewer and/or
Submitter, Asset Viewer, and KMSAC-KMSUsers, but they do require them...
- Unfortunately, because of some poor design decisions in the ITSM 7
app, everyone needs a User record as well as CTM:People record just be a
customer; they have to have these explicit permissions assigned to them
or they can't even use the Requester Console
  - Even less fortunate, from the same design "process," is the fact
that even in a Submitter Locked system they have no or limited access to
update their incidents as opened from their customer email
notifications, because there is no submitter = requester mechanism like
previous ITSM releases
  - NOTE: All tickets created for UNT Customers are visible to ANY
support staff member
  - WORSE: ANY UNT Customer, because they ALL have access to that
container, can see them too; unfortunately, the new requester view of
the Incident give them access to search the entire incident table in a
way that was not possible in the ITSM 5 or 6 Requester views; oops!

We have maybe 30 central computing support teams and 25 distributed
support areas - each gets its own private company container
  - Each company is able to have their own CTI, templates, decision
trees, etc.
  - Each company can have as many support groups as they want - right
now most have only one, but the library has almost a dozen
  - Support staff members get a new, unique login for their home company
with a local (non-LDAP) password
- If necessary they _could_ have a second login homed in another
company, or even with a different permission set, but so far we don't
need any
  - Each support staff member is given access to the UNT Customer
container so that they can open a ticket for ANY customer
  - In addition to the global CTI etc., they see UNT Customer CTI, and
their unique Company CTI or decision trees
  - If they open a ticket with an INTERNAL company login name as the
customer, with their company as the Owner, it is completely private
within the company container

The problem comes when support staff members want to transfer tickets to
groups in companies to which they have no access. Here is what makes
this workable:

A UNT Ticket Transfer company contains no customers, no support staff
accounts, no CTI or rules, only support groups
  - Each central and distributed support company that does business
outside its container (all of them) has at least one support group
defined here
  - Each support staff member (or a subset if they want) has access to
the Ticket Transfer company, and should be a member of their exposed
support group
  - As a result, each company has a "drop box" in the Ticket Transfer
company that members of other companies can see and reassign tickets to
- Tickets placed there show up in the support console just like
tickets in the internal company support groups, through group membership
- The first action of support staff is to "take ownership" of
tickets in the transfer group - several functions don't even work in the
Incident module, like setting Status = Pending, if you are not the
actual Assignee
- NOTE: If a private ticket is assigned to a group in this
container, it is no longer private - all with access to Ticket Transfer
can see it (~300 support staff accounts)
- If a ticket MUST stay private between two groups, it MUST be moved
from one company's internal support group DIRECTLY into another
company's internal support group, NOT through the Ticket Transfer
company groups
  - That requires unlimited access to see and select the other
company's group, or, explicit permission into the other company's
container
  - Even if you assign a private ticket to another company's group,
they may still not be able to see it!!
- Changing the value in the "Incident Service Type - Company*+"
field is the key to making a private ticket visible to another group
- Only our Information Security team is expected to need/have
this kind of permission, to assign remediation requests
- The distributed company needs no explicit access to return the
ticket to Info Security - they use "Set Assignment using: Current Owner"

Our most recent development is to add a customer company for each
distributed area that wants to make custom Summaries available to only
the customers in that department
  - We should

Re: User Tool - Client Logging

2007-02-14 Thread Carey Matthew Black

Mike,

The Server setting that identify the group that is allowed to do
client side logs MUST be in the users Group List explicitly. ( I have
found that even Administrator does not automatically get you access to
that feature.)

I have also noticed some strangeness if your User Tool is connected to
multiple ARS servers and you are part of the *special* group on one of
the servers but not on all of them. ( It appears that you must be part
of that *special* group on all servers for the Client to "get it
right". After all the UT "Options" do not appear to apply to a
specific server, but to the session of the UT.)

When I went to look at the log, I was unpleasantly suprized to find that the
only thing in the log was active links, and no filter logging whatsoever. I
had to turn on filter logging from the Admin tool and get the filter logging
on the server to troubleshoot. I am an ARS administrator on this server,
and I have Client Side Logging = "Public"

While this is a workaround, this is not an acceptable solution.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Implementation Q> ITSM 7 and "Shared People" as 'Generic Contact' Company

2007-02-14 Thread Robert Molenda
Hi fellow ITSM 7'ers;

Implementation Q, that has BMC Stumped now, and honestly myself because
I thought (whoops) it should work as I expect instead of...

This is a OOTB (Out Of The Box) ITSM7 installation (ITSM patch 2 in
addition) with all modules (Service/change/sla/cmda/...)

Scenerio:

Infineon has 44K employees, which we would like to represent to the
"modules" as a "Generic Contact Company"

OK this works as expected, in Multi-Tenancy mode, however the support
staff need access permissions to the "Operating Company-1" and the
"Generic Contact Company". Fair enough, assumption to this point, works
as expected!

However when "Operating Company-2" needs to share these same "people
resources" they also must have permissions to the company, which is OK,
until... (tick tock)...

Now "Operating Company-1" can see "Operating Company-2" tickets, etc.
This is because the ticket permissions are set based upon the "Company"
of the "Customer/Contact/Classification" companies! Seeing as that one
"operating company" is HR with sensitive ticket data this is not
acceptable...

Not to mention that the assignment rules use the "Customer Company" and
not the "Classification-support company" is also becoming an issue.

OK I know that I nod off at times in classes, but this has gotten
myself, Materna consultants, and Remedy Support now escalated into 2nd
level...

Hopefully there IS a light bulb in the box, but ours is simply burnt-out
and needs replacement... (who has that flashlight??)

We cannot import the people "multiple times" because of web-interface
and the unique key in 'user' for the login, and, and, and, and...

I hope this makes enough sense, because our brains are fried on the
topic now, and maybe (hopefully) we are lost in the forest of trees so
to say...

Re: SSO Problem: AREA being called more than once

2007-02-14 Thread Shanmugadas, Suresh
I had this issue and the reason for my AREA plugin getting called twice
was because, the userid that was sent from Midtier was slightly
different from what I would get without SSSO. ex. Normally, I would get
it as
username : suresh.shanmugadas
but with the SSSO I was sending it as [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
since I had AREA chaining and because SSSO was not able to Authenticate
the user as [EMAIL PROTECTED] it was firing the LDAP
authentication. That was the reason it was firing twice for me.

First, I would code the AREA plug-in to handle all calls
properly. You do not need to authenticate on the subsequent calls
unless a timeout is reached. You will need to provide address info and
an OK return code.

Then, yes, 16 seems like it should work though the comments are
confusing. Perhaps 7 is more correct.

Note that you will have to restart the plug-in server to reload
this value.

Try it and see

Hello Ben,
I looked at the Configuration Guide's list of the parameters
related to area and notification and this is what i found:

Option:
External-Authentication-Return-Data-Capabilities

Description:
A bit mask that allows you to specify the return data
capabilities for the current AREA plugin. This setting does not control
the AREA plugin, it merely desecribes the behavior of the plugin,
allowing for server optimization. Acceptable values are as follows:
- Bit 1 (Value = 1) - no email address will be provided
- Bit 2 (Value = 2) - no notify mechanism will be provided
- Bit 3 (Value = 4) - no group identifiers will be provided
- Bit 4 (Value = 8) - no license information will be provided.
- Bit 5 (Value = 16) - no notification user validation should
occur.
The default is 0, meaning the server wil attempt to retrieve
this information from AREA. A value of 7 will allow the server to
potentially reduce the number of AREA related calls during notification
processing.
A value of 16 will allow the server to avoid using AREA for
notification user validation and information retrieval. Use this setting
for sites using a form of AREA that applies user names as email
addresses and where there is no benefit to accessing an authentication
database.

So if I put the External-Authentication-Return-Data-Capabilities
in the ar.cfg and set it to 16, will ARS stop calling AREA twice?

I am facing the exact same problem like yours today. but I am

passwords from Midtier. So when the Callback function in AREA is called

again for some reason and this time it is getting my windows login

2007-02-14 Thread Shellman, David
It really depends on what your looking for.

AlarmPoint has a lot of bells and whistles that the sales folks are more
than happy to point out for you and tell you that with ITIL you
shouldn't be with out them. The bells and whistles duplicate many of
the items we have built into our AR System and OpenView integration.
Your paying for all this added functionality so the cost is pricey.

TelAlert has similar capabilities. We have used TelAlert for around 10
years. At one time the cost for TelAlert was extremely reasonable but
has gotten pricey in recent years. Support folks are great and have
even helped us debug a couple of connection issues that were not
software issues but were actually issues with our international long
distance providers. Really strange issues like we could connect to a
service providers modem until 1:00 PM but then nothing until sometime
later in the day.

6.3 Patch 20 on Solaris with Oracle

2007-02-14 Thread Shellman, David
Just discovered a bug with 6.3 Patch 20 on Solaris with Oracle and you
have changed the database password. If you use the Share option instead
of the Upgrade choice, the server password gets reset to the default
AR#ADMIN#. This bug has been around for a long time with 6.3 and they
have been slowly hacking away at it. Seems that it only happens with
Share. Remedy Support has confirmed and is bugging the issue.

If this happens, you need to reset the password to AR#ADMIN# at the DB
level. The server will then start up and you can change the password
through the admin tool again.

Hello,

A few weeks ago as a tangent of a completely different thread, the topic
of a Portland RUG came up. I received a few responses from people that
were interested, but I wanted to see if there were any others out there
that would be interested in attending. And what are your primary areas
of interest?

Last year in Seattle, BMC held a free, half-day version of their
"Airport Simulation" seminar
(http://www.bmc.com/education/servicemgmt/courses/q-itil-150.htm). I
found it a nice introduction to ITIL concepts. Maybe we could do
something like that here if there was interest? Or anything else. I'm
not sure what people are more interested in, a 3/4 day "event", or a 2
hour "evening with friends over a beer" kind of thing. Or both. :-)

Anyway, contact me if you are interested and we can work out the details

Hello,

A few weeks ago as a tangent of a completely different thread, the topic
of a Portland RUG came up. I received a few responses from people that
were interested, but I wanted to see if there were any others out there
that would be interested in attending. And what are your primary areas of
interest?

Last year in Seattle, BMC held a free, half-day version of their "Airport
Simulation" seminar (
http://www.bmc.com/education/servicemgmt/courses/q-itil-150.htm). I found
it a nice introduction to ITIL concepts. Maybe we could do something like
that here if there was interest? Or anything else. I'm not sure what
people are more interested in, a 3/4 day "event", or a 2 hour "evening
with friends over a beer" kind of thing. Or both. :-)

Anyway, contact me if you are interested and we can work out the details
off-list.

Thanks,
Thad Esser

A few weeks ago as a tangent of a completely different thread, the topic
of a Portland RUG came up. I received a few responses from people that
were interested, but I wanted to see if there were any others out there
that would be interested in attending. And what are your primary areas of
interest?

Last year in Seattle, BMC held a free, half-day version of their "Airport
Simulation" seminar
(http://www.bmc.com/education/servicemgmt/courses/q-itil-150.htm). I
found it a nice introduction to ITIL concepts. Maybe we could do
something like that here if there was interest? Or anything else. I'm
not sure what people are more interested in, a 3/4 day "event", or a 2
hour "evening with friends over a beer" kind of thing. Or both. :-)

Anyway, contact me if you are interested and we can work out the details
off-list.

Thanks,
Thad Esser

Re: Server fails to Restart w/NT Authority user

2007-02-14 Thread Baxter, Andrew
Well, it is definitely using NT Authority\SYSTEM to connect to the other
database. At this point I would think you are going to need to change
the account under which ARS is running, or since it is a dev box,
restore your original configuration and start the upgrade again.

Thanks,
Andrew Baxter

Andrew & Stephen,
Thanks for the responses. Unfortunatley, even though this is a dev box I
do
not have much in the way of access rights to the box (controlled by the
NT
Group) and getting help from them is a major pain.

To answer your previous questions, Andrew, no, no new apps and since I
didn't do the upgrade, I'm not sure of what patches may have been
applied.

And, since I don't have much in the way of rights to the db, not much I
can
do there, either. What a pain . . .

Here is the SQL log:

Feb 14 2007 13:18:50.4460 */SQL Trace Log -- ON

  /* Wed Feb 14 2007 13:18:50.4460 */CONNECT ARSystem, USER ARAdmin

user

  /* Wed Feb 14 2007 13:18:50.4930 */SQL Trace Log -- OFF

This just clears up ALL of the confusion, doesn't it? :-(

I believe I ran into a similar problem doing a test upgrade myself. I
was eventually able to determine exactly what account it was attempting
to use to connect to the SQL Server from the SQL logs within remedy. I
then had to add that account as a dbo to the remedy database and things
started working. I wasn't particularly comfortable with this as a long
term solution and since it was my lab I went ahead and rebuilt
everything, but the sql logs should be able to help you out.

Scott,

I experienced a similar situation about 2 years ago. I am not 100% sure
if this is the issue, but... what is the login name used for the Remedy
NT service and SQL Server NT service?

I changed it here to a network account that has Admin access on the
server and also has access to query LDAP and it cleared up this and
other issues. This may not be the exact solution but just in case, it
might save you some troubleshooting time.

Subject: Server fails to Restart w/NT Authority user

All,
I did not do the install or upgrade for this server, so there some
specifics (probably critical specifics) that I do not currently have,
but
here goes:

ARS 7
SQL Server 2000
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition

Server was upgraded from ARS 6.3 to ARS 7 (not sure of the applied
patch).
Server was upgraded about two weeks ago and has been humming along ever
since. The physical server had to be rebooted yesterday (I'm not sure as
to
why, but my understanding is that it was not because of the AR System).

Since the reboot, the AR System Server will not come back up. The
following
is the entry in the ARERROR LOG when the restart fails:

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'. (SQL Server 18456)
Wed Feb 14 12:33:07 2007 390600 : Cannot initialize contact with SQL
database (ARERR 551)
Wed Feb 14 12:33:07 2007 Stop server
Wed Feb 14 12:33:07 2007 390600 : AR System server terminated -- fatal
error encountered (ARNOTE 21)

Under normal circumstances, I believe the error should state "Login
failed
for user ARAdmin" so I am not sure why the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM user is
being referenced. As I said, I did not do the initial install of the db,
or
the upgrade of Remedy.

The funny thing is that I can log into the AR System database in Query
Analyzer and Enterprise Manager using the out of the box ARAdmin ID and
password. And, ARAdmin is the dbo.

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Remedy 6.3 Patch 20 ( DST )

2007-02-14 Thread Kyle Whitley
This is what fixed our Flashboard drill down issue after installing
patch 20.

In both of your ClientCore.js files:

/resources/ie/javascript/ClientCore.js and
/resources/moz/javascript/ClientCore.js

locate the line:

noMatchCustomMessage.m = ExpandString(noMatchCustomMessage.m, 1 | 2 | 4
| 8);

and add code to the front of it, changing it to now read:

if (noMatchCustomMessage != null) noMatchCustomMessage.m =
ExpandString(noMatchCustomMessage.m, 1 | 2 | 4 | 8);

Thanks

Kyle

Our issue is with the Remedy User 6.3 Patch 20 User tool. The drill
down doesn't work (we've found) because the /arsys is missing in the

The drill down appears to work on the Mid-Tier 7.0.01 Patch 1, with
one exception. The drilldown doesn't work when using the
FBImageServlet URL in Mid-Tier 6.3 Patch Patch 17 through 7.0.01 Patch 1.

Do you happen to know what the fix to the clientcore.js file is?

We just patched mid-tier and ran into the same flashboard drill-down
issue. Per BMC support, patch 19 actually broke it (see defect
SW00256388) and a fix should be in patch 21, which is currently a
restricted release. In the meantime there is a simple fix that can be
made to the ClientCore.js files. BMC support should be able to provide

Just to make sure I understand what you are wanting to know.

Your users submit tickets to Remedy by sending emails. They are wanting
to be able to send attachments to Remedy. So this is inbound to Remedy
attachments thru emails?

If they send an attachment in to Remedy now is the attachment stored in
the Email Attachments form?

Our issue is with the Remedy User 6.3 Patch 20 User tool. The drill down
doesn't work (we've found) because the /arsys is missing in the URL string.

The drill down appears to work on the Mid-Tier 7.0.01 Patch 1, with one

We just patched mid-tier and ran into the same flashboard drill-down

and a fix should be in patch 21, which is currently a restricted release.
In the meantime there is a simple fix that can be made to the

For example, when sending a notification from a Helpdesk case we include

In the Notify action of a filter, with a mechanism of email.
Include all relevant fields from the fields list, including the

User Tool - Client Logging

2007-02-14 Thread Mike Parker

Good Morning everyone:

I was attempting to do some troubleshooting of ITSM 7, and I turned on my AL
& Filter logging on the User tool.

New Utility: Retrieve Workstation Info within Windows User Tool

letting me host it on his site.
http://www.mattreinfeldt.com/site/component/option,com_docman/task,cat_v

It returns workstation information from within the Windows User Tool.
The utility and workflow demonstrate:

- How to get an executable (or any file) to a user's temp folder.
- How to obtain the user's environment variables.
- How to run an executable and capture its output.
- How to parse the output of an executable.

The following information is returned and made available to your
workflow:

Host Name
DNS Host Name
IP Address
MAC Address
NIC Name
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
DNS Servers
User Name
Temp Folder
CompSpec
DNS Domain Name
Login Server
Excel Path
Outlook Path
Word Path
IE Path
Dameware Path

VB.Net 2003 (source included)
Tested with ARS 6.3 and 7.0.

BTW, there is a free open-source IDE for VB.Net and C# programming -
SharpDevelop http://www.icsharpcode.net/opensource/sd/
. I tested the .Net code
with SharpDevelop version 2.1.0.2376 RC1 and it compiled and ran without
having to change anything. This may be useful if you don't have Visual

Re: CMDB 1.1 Change Pending

2007-02-14 Thread Chris Williams
Forgot to mention in my last mail that if you can identify the offending
attribute which breaks convention (The one with '-' in the name), you could
try the following...

Go to the OBJSTR:AttributeDefinition form.
Locate the offending Attribute by searching for it based upon the field
name. Hopefully, you'll only get one entry returned which is in the "Change
Pending" status.
Delete this one entry only.
Then try the procedure I described in detail in my last mail to flush the
rest of your changes through.
This should hopefully save you having to type all of those attributes in
again.

As Robert suggested, don't go too delete happy in the OBSTR forms as this
could do more harm than good. There are limited specific cases where it's
relatively "safe" to do this. In the case you are currently experiencing, as
long as the field was not created in any of the CMDB forms (you should check
this first by looking in the AR System Data Dictionary for all occurrences
of the field you tried to create, either by name or ID) and the attribute is
still showing "Change Pending" and there's only one instance of it in the
metadata, then you *should* be OK. Never delete an attribute which is
currently "Active".

Regarding the Max Filters error, I have seen this before due to 2 things...
Firstly, make sure you've set a high enough number for Max Filters in your
AR Config file. I think the documentation recommends 100,000. (You can
always reduce this again after making your Data Model changes).
Secondly, there was a known defect identified in the Filters which push
information from the OBJSTR forms to the SHR:SchemaNames. From memory, a bad
push fields action caused too many records to be modified, thus causing
Filters to run for each of those SHR:SchemaNames entries to push to each
other!...Hence you breach the max filters limit. There used to be a KB about
this, though I can't find it now...I think it was a Filter with a name like
"SHR:Objstr_Menu_Push" that modified all matching entries instead of the
first matching entry. This *might* have been fixed in Patch 003 for CMDB
1.1, but I'm not sure.

HTH
Chris.

Ah' that wonderful "explode after error and now you are stuck"
condition. I know this because "been there and done that" has applied.

At this point you must manually cleanup the Meta Data, and add the
field(s) back again.

Unfortunately the UI/Workflow does not check for "bad things" but when
you try to update, then it goes BOOM. (You had the '-' character in the
field..)

Before you go in and get "deletion happy" in the OBJSTR: forms, remember
to always CYI and export to arx ALL ENTIRES IN ALL TABLES of OBJSTR:..
One of our contractors went 'delete happy' and then nothing all worked,
and it was restore DB time into a spare DB and recover the entries :(

Q(s)>>

Is this the first MetaUpdate that has run on the system, or have other
custom fields been added. A good test is to go in and simply view some
fields, and the UI thinks you updated and will update it again. This
MUST GO OK before going any further!!

Ensure (by scanning) that you don't duplicate ID/Field Name/name
restrictions, and you should be fine.

Also, we could not add more than 6 or 7 fields at one attempt or would
get the same error.

"eid=" in Web URL shortcuts, resulting in:

http:///arsys/servlet/ViewFormServlet?form=&server=&eid=NULL

SW00258844, SW00256255

These are not yet escalated by Server team(s), so a resolution isn't
expected until Odin. As a workaround, a customer can add workflow to
generate their own URLs in a character field and include that field as
part of the notification."

Re: CMDB 1.1 Change Pending

2007-02-14 Thread Chris Williams
Hi Claire & Robert,
Don't forget, that if your changes to the Data Model didn't fully
synchronise, there may be another way of forcing them through without having
to recreate them or "hack" any of the meta data records in the OBJSTR
prefixed forms...

This method should work as long as the changes you made are legal. As Robert
suggested, if you've broken the laws of the CMDB and used invalid
characters, bad attribute name or field Id's, then you're still stuck and
that requires a more drastic cleanupbut it's not impossible.

In CMDB 1.1, there should be a utility called cmdbdriver (or possibly called
osdriver. Osdriver was the name used in CMDB 1.0 and wasn't changed until a
specific patch release of the 1.1 version, from memory).

If you've ever used driver for the AR System (the command line API
interface), then you should see that cmdbdriver is relatively similar to
use. Cmdbdriver is the command line API interface to the CMDB.

Once you've found the cmdbdriver executable, you'll need to follow these
steps carefully:

Backup your entire DB before doing anything...just in case.
I'd recommend only doing the following when nobody else is on the
environment, as it may chew up your resources and hog the AR Server admin
thread for several hours.
>From a command prompt, run the cmdbdriver executable. A screen full of
commands should appear.
Type "init" to intialise the API session.
Type "log" to log into your AR Server. You'll need specify the Admiin Login
details you are using and the server name. Leave all other options blank by
pressing return.
If you have allocated port numbers for your server type "ssp" (in some older
versions of CMDB this was buggy and you might need to set the port as a
windows environmental variable before running cmdbdriver).
Type "sync". You will be prompted for a pending ID.
Now switch back to your User tool and open up form OBJSTR:Pending (I'm
documenting this from memory, so if this is not the exact name, forgive me,
but you should see which form I mean).
Search for all entries in the form. Hopefully there will only be 1, but it's
no big deal if there are more. Each entry represents an attempted (and
potentially failed) synchronisation of the CMDB Meta Data.
There should be a field on the form called 'Pending ID'. Copy the GUID value
in this field (you may need to export the records to a csv file to be able
to copy this value easily).
Switch back to the cmdbdriver window and paste the first GUID value exactly
as it is. Don't use double quotes, but do copy and paste any and all special
characters in the Pending ID GUID.
As long as no other synchronisation is currently running and the arcmdbd is
quietly waiting for it's next command, you can hit the return key. This will
immediately start the synchronisation process for the record in the
OBJSTR:Pending form which represents a failed synchronisation session.
Wait till the cmdbdriver window comes back to you to confirm that the
operation was successful. (This is effectively the same thing that happens
when you press the "Save" button in the CMDB Class Manager after you've made
some changes.)
Repeat the steps above for each record in the OBJSTR:Pending form until they
are all gone.
Once finished, type "term" to end the API session. Then type "e" to quit
cmdbdriver.

NB: During this rescue operation, it is important that you do NOT attempt to
make any further changes to the data model. The version of CMDB you are
using is a little notorious for being somewhat delicate when you come to
make changes to it's data model. CMDB 2.0.x is a bit more robust, and is
worth considering in the futurethere's some nice new features in there
which help make the CMDB more powerful as well as performing faster than
before.

I hope all of this helps.
If you need any further advice or run into problems, please let me know and
I'll see if I can help.

Cheers

A good test is to go in and simply view some
fields, and the UI thinks you updated and will upd

ORA - 03113; end-of-file on communication channel

2007-02-14 Thread issac jayandhar

Hello Listers,

We are trying to connect to an Extenal Database through DB
Link.Frequentlywe are getting ORA - 03113; end-of-file on
communication channel. Some times
we are able to perform the same action.
Any idea why we are getting this error.
Does it need any change in configuration settings.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks
Issac
