ITSM 7.5.01 Patch1

2009-09-29 Thread Peter Romain
Hi All,

Has anyone tried to apply this patch?

I tried it on two separate Windows 7.5.01 systems and the installer
ignores the installed versions and does a fresh install each time.

I would expect it to just apply the Patch 1 changes as previous ITSM
patches have done.

The documntation implies that it should just apply the patch changes and
the directory structures created by the patch installer support this.

Cheers

Peter

Re: workflow and email logging on-form?

2009-09-29 Thread Carey Matthew Black
Brien,

Even if you find a way to relate the outbound AR System Email Message
records with your incident I think you still have a problem to solve
with this part of your requirements:
"
... what content was emailed regarding a ticket. ...
"

The email Engine does not (very unfortunately) update the AR System
Email Message form with the final form of the email that it sends to
the user. It only keeps the data it used to construct the outbound
email and does not "log" what it actually sends.

I think your best bet you would have is to embed the ticket number in
the subject and BCC (or CC) an inbound Mailbox so that the support
process could get a copy of the actual email that is sent to the user.

Once you cross the line of using an embedded key in the Subject line
then your users (and support staff) can get use to that you can
find/process inbound emails and relate them back to the incidents
(tickets) as needed too.

Many thanks :) I am in the planning process right now. sun4v seems
to be a superset of sun4u, so I wasn't expecting any issues, but

Re: ITSM 7.5.01 Patch1

2009-09-29 Thread strauss
I have only applied it to an ITSM 7.0.03.009 system after the AR Server and
Atrium Core were upgraded to 7.5.00.002. It took almost 5 hours to complete:

20 July 2009 - Install ITSM 7.5.01.001 upgrade to applications (minus Asset) {
4 hrs 46 minutes - 12:15 to 17:01 }
logged in as domain admin
Cleared out AR System Email Messages and NTE:SYS NTE Process Control
form
Selected Change and ServiceDesk, not Asset
Install in D:\Program Files (x86)\BMC Software\BMCRemedyITSMSuite (new
location)
Selected the Object Modification logging, which GREATLY increases
install time
Change Escalation queue threads from 2 2 to 2 3

21 July 2009 - Install SLM 7.5 upgrade to SLM 7.1
Etc.,...

It was one of the few 7.5.x installers that actually ran without error on the
first try.

2009-09-29 Thread Peter Romain
Thanks Chris,

The hours that it churns even when upgrading from 7.5.01, plus the fact
that it over-writes any customisations because it does a fresh install,
means that I can't apply it at the moment.

Currently BMC Support is quoting tech bulletins at me. If only they would
try it and let me know what happens to them!

Cheers

Re: ITSM 7.5.01 Patch1

2009-09-29 Thread strauss
Every previous patch - especially 7, and 8 and 9, has overwritten some portion
of our customizations to IM, so I expected that and more of the 7.5.x upgrade.
I am now documenting what it takes to restore all of our customizations after
the upgrade, just like I had to do for the 7.0.03 patches in the past. The
modules they completely re-wrote are the biggest hurdle, since our
customizations tend to break the upgraded app.

Actually, that would fire any time the Billing_End_Date didn’t change or
was set to NULL (TR.Billing_End_Date will always be NULL unless the value
is being changed to something non-null). He doesn’t need to determine when
it’s null, just if it is being changed. In that case, since it does
correctly fire in one case (where it’s null in the DB but no in the updated
record), it should also fire the other way around as well. If it doesn’t,
then that would probably be a bug and not be related to the NULL value
relational Algebra. I think the relational Algebra discussion relates more
to searches and may not apply here in this context. (I could be wrong on
that point, but my first point above is correct.)

Re: Stumped - Need some fresh eyes

2009-09-29 Thread Lyle Taylor
You're right. Thanks. I was thinking in the limited context of a simple save
from a form. Strictly speaking, I believe that TR. has a value any time
a value is explicitly being set (whether it is being changed or not). From a
normal form save, that will only happen when the value is actually "changed" on
the form (perhaps anytime the change flag has been set on the field). In a
push fields, API action, or other where a value is being specified for a field,
TR. will be non-null (unless null is what was specified).

Need tips on integrating Sharepoint as a KB

2009-09-29 Thread Rick Westbrock
Hi all-
We are not using the RKB product but I'm interested in any information
out there about integrating an MS Sharepoint install that contains
troubleshooting documents into my custom Remedy installation. Ideally
once a user selects the CTI and types a short description of the problem
they would be presented with documents from the Sharepoint that are
relevant. I am running 7.0.1 at the moment but will be upgrading to 7.5
next year.
I have to imagine that someone out there has done this already, any
pointers to get me going in the right direction would be much
appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

Re: ITSM 7 ADDing Notification Event

2009-09-29 Thread Matthew Perrault
Patrick,
The way that system works is the following (this is from incident, as SLM does
NOT feed through the NTE Notification engine unless you configure the push
fields to do that).

Incident ticket is created.
Notification is supposed to go out (filters fire).
It pushes a value (Notification Tag) down to the NTE:SYS-NT Process Control
form.
It will sit in the Process control form until the escalation comes along and
updates the z1D Action field.
The Process Control from then picks up the information for that tag from the
form:
SYS:Notification Messages
This is the message that has the information and you need to have the
notification event there as well.
Then the NTE:SYS-NT Process control from will push the notification onto the
Group NT Control form or the Individual Control form depending on the type of
notification.
Those forms will then look at a Person's Notification Preferences, which are
defined for each person in the NTE:CFG-Notification Events (System Default are
there for everyone, where as User defined are for a specific person, and those
over ride the System Default ones).

HTH.

Hi Roger,
We called OpGetList but it's only returning 1 record. We need a class that
would return array of records. See below screenshot. We went through the
document you send but there are no examples of how to call the web service. If
you have examples that I can look at for .net please let me know. That will
help us understand it little better.

Chandresh/Sibi - have you used Remedy web service in your application?

If you're using .NET's native ability to work with web services where it
auto-generates a class (or set of classes) for you to work with, then perhaps
the problem is with how your WSDL is defined, as that is how it determines what

Subject: Use of dynamic data sources in ITSM 7.5

Can anyone explain to me why I would ever want to use the dynamic data source
or destination in workflow (new in 7.5) in an application that is _entirely_
contained on the local server? Better yet, can anyone explain to me why the
ITSM 7.5 developers would have used it at all on an application that is
supposed to run on a single server? I have an idea, but I'd like to hear from
someone else who has started picking through the ITSM 7.5 app for points of
customization, especially after upgrading a lightly customized 7.0.03 app to
7.5.01.

I am rebuilding my customizations to the HPD:INC:VISAction workflow for
Incident Management, since in 7.0 this loads views from HPD:Help Desk but in
7.5 it uses views from the new display-only form, HPD:Help Desk Dialogs. All
of the customizations involve including custom fields, or essential OOTB fields
the developers forgot to include (like Login ID, i.e. Remedy Login ID), in the
dialog operations.

For example, in the 7.0.03 active link
HPD:INC:VISAction_100_CreateGoToInvestigation, the Data Source: is SERVER,
Server Name: is the local server FQDN, Form Name: is HPD:Help Desk, and the
Form View Name: is Dialog View - Create (Simple) which is where we implemented
many of our customizations.

In the same active link in 7.5.01, the Data Source: is SAMPLE DATA, Sample
Server Name: is still the local server FQDN, Sample Form Name: is HPD:Help Desk
Dialogs, Runtime Server Value: is $SERVER$, Runtime Form Value: is
$z1D_VISTargetForm$, and the Runtime Form View Value: is
$z1D_VISProcessFlowView$.

Is this a new way to open a dialog with one form but populate it with values
from another? If so, where do you go to find the values that are going to be
used at runtime? In this case, I cannot tell what the variables
$z1D_VISTargetForm$ and $z1D_VISProcessFlowView$ represent. Clicking on all
three of the expansion boxes (including Runtime Server Value:) brings up the
same Field/Keyword Selector dialog pointing at HPD:Help Desk form with every
field listed and nothing selected. They don't appear to contain useful
information in reading what the workflow object is going to do, so they don't
appear to be useful for altering it. What am I missing here??

Maybe this makes perfect sense when you are building it from scratch, but I am
trying to decipher what they were doing when they built the OOTB object - after
the fact, so that I can modify it properly. Of course, it's not that
surprising considering that out of 11 new active links they defined in this
set, 4 were installed by the upgrade as disabled, meaning that they never
cleaned up this code when they were done before moving it to the installer.
Quality! It's like buying a new house and finding broken tools, wood, nails,
sawdust, and fast food packaging all shoved into the walls.

We are stumped on a filter that does not want to fire correctly.

Here is the situation.

We have an Asset record that has no billing end date set.
We set the Billing End Date to the current date/time along with other fields
and the filter with the Run If Qualification: 'Billing_End_Date' !=
'DB.Billing_End_Date' fires, as expected. This filter is just setting a Audit
Trail entry.
Right after that, on the same record about 3-5 seconds later we set the Billing
End Date back to NULL along with other fields and the same filter does not fire.

This is happening inside of a Filter Guide process that calls two different
Filter Guide. The first is Set the Asset to Inactive, the second is Set Asset
to Active along with new Data. All the data gets set correct including the
Billing End Date

We do a move by first setting the data for the current Asset record that has
Active Billing to Inactive and Set the Billing End Date along with other
fields.
Later in the Filter Guide process we take that same record and update the new
data and reactivate the billing under the new person and set the Billing End
Date to NULL. It should work right?

Now here is the rub.

If we set the Asset record by itself to Inactive and Set the Billing End Date
the filter with the Run If Qualification: 'Billing_End_Date' !=
'DB.Billing_End_Date' fires.
Then is we set the Asset record by itself to active and Set the Billing End
Date to NULL the filter with the Run If Qualification: 'Billing_End_Date' !=
'DB.Billing_End_Date' fires. But not when we do it inside of a Guide.

Anyone ever see this happen before?

be presented with documents from the Sharepoint that are relevant. I am

I have to imagine that someone out there has done this already, any pointers

ARERR 623 with a load balancer

balancer?does one of them still give an error?

**
We have 4 7.1 patch 006 MT servers running on a load balancer.

One of them gives the error ARERR 623 when we try to access it.

This is typically an error shown when you have the wrong mid-tier
password. In this case though we have re-set the password in the
Server, bounced hte server, and re-set the password in all 4 mid-tier
servers. Just that same one has the problem.

Ideas? I'm stumped. This box has connected to the AR Server before so
it is not a connectivity issue to the best of my knowledge.

Ok...on that one web server I would recommend removing the server in
question (from the mid-tier config page), then re-add it with the same
information you did for the others...then re-check

Yes - and yes. We get the error only with that one - we've isolated the
