Re: Diary field weirdness in Mid-tier

2011-12-20 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

To me, this seems like a bug, and a Mid-Tier bug at that.

Have you tried the SP2 for Mid-Tier?

I am seeing the exact same problem with AR Server 7.6.04, Mid-Tier 7.6.04
and Firefox.

Diary field weirdness in Mid-tier

2011-12-20 Thread L G Robinson
Hi Folks,

I have a question about diary fields and how they work in the Mid-tier.
They seem to work differently than they do in the Windows client.

In the Windows client, I am able to enter any number of lines into the
field, both when the field is collapsed or when it is expanded.

In the Mid-tier, I am limited to entering only as many lines as the number
of rows specified in in the properties for the diary field as specified
using Dev Studio.

For example, If the diary field is specified with three rows, and I type
directly into the diary field (without expanding it first) like this:

1
2
3
4
5

I end up with:

1
2
345

If I save it and then expand the diary, This is what was saved:

1
2
345

If I expand the diary field and type the following:
1
2
3
4
5

and then collapse it, save it, then refresh the record and expand the diary
field, the last entry will look like this:

1
2
3

In the Windows client, it will take whatever you enter, expanded or
collapsed and save it every time, regardless of the number of rows
specified in the field properties.

The only way that I have found to get the Mid-tier to take an entry that is
longer than the number of rows specified in the field properties is as
follows:

Type something into the diary field just to get the Save button enabled.
Expand the diary field.
Type in multiple lines, as many as you want.
Save the record while the diary field is still expanded.

The diary field will be saved correctly.

Also, unlike the Windows client, the Mid-tier does not clear the lower
portion of the diary field after the record has been saved.

Is this just my system, or is this the way that diary fields work in the
Mid-tier?

I have tried this on Safari, Firefox and Chrome on multiple Macs and PCs.
They all behave exactly the same way. The only browser that works the way
that the Windows client works is IE on Windows.

I have scoured the BMC documentation and I have not found anything to make
me think that this is expected behavior on Mid-tier.

ARS 7.6.03 on Solaris
Mid-tier 7.6.04
Oracle 11.2.0.2.0

Thanks for reading this far.

Re: RMDY.ITSM.RLE Question

2011-12-20 Thread Thad Esser
I can't speak to this particular plugin, but I know that the
CMDBSyncAssetUI (with ITSM 7.0.3/CMDB 2.1 anyway) doesn't work if you
disallow unqualified searches. So its not unheard of for that setting to
not be accounted for in auxillary processes.

It sounds familiar. It has been a while since I revisited it but I think

RMDY.ITSM.RLE Question

2011-12-20 Thread Axton
Relevant Environment Information
- ARServer 7.5 patch 3
- ITSM 7.5.01.0 no patches
- Atrium CMDB 7.5 patch 005

Does the plugin RMDY.ITSM.RLE work properly with a server that disallows
unqualified searches?

We are using this configuration for the plugin:

RMDY.ITSM.RLE
FilterAPI
JAVA
/path/to/remedy/ARSystem/pluginsvr/rle/rle.jar
com.bmc.itsm.rle.RuleEngineFilterAPI
/path/to
/remedy/ARSystem/pluginsvr/rle
/path/to/remedy/ARSystem/pluginsvr/rle/lib/JbcParser.jar
/path/to/remedy/ARSystem/pluginsvr/rle/lib/cmdbapi75.jar
/path/to/remedy/ARSystem/pluginsvr/rle/lib/aspectjrt.jar

server
1234

At start-up time, if I set the log level to DEBUG, I see the following
error in the arjavaplugin.log:

[main] com.bmc.arsys.api.ProxyJRpcBase (?:?) - [ERROR (361): An unqualified
search was issued and the server has been configured to disallow
unqualified searches.

The API logs show the following for this error:

/+GLEWF ARGetListEntryWithFields schema RLE:Configuration from
Unidentified Client (protocol 14) at IP address 1.2.3.4
/-GLEWFFAIL

The plugin server hangs at this point (in practice it never leaves the init
phase of the startup and repeats the above error every minute) and the
plugin server never completes it's initialization, which is typically
indicated by a log line like this:

Java plug-in server has initialized plug-ins for all 10 core threads. The
server is ready to receive RPC calls.

If I allow unqualified searches I get the following in the arjavaplugin log
file (all good):

Nope. We’re on 7.5.

FWIW, I use Procmail and some scripts to generate these templates to create
tickets that get appropriately routed to specific support groups from automated
email.

Microsoft System Center Service Manager

2011-12-20 Thread Will Du Chene
Hi List.

Every so often, a topic comes up about migrating from one platform to the
other. With that being said, there are some that think that we should move from
what we have now to the new release of Microsoft System Center Service Manager
because it "integrates better" with other Microsoft products.

I know that the question has been asked in the past (I've checked the archives)
but there were no really definative answers, so if I have missed it, I
apologize in advance - but can anyone who knows something about Microsoft
System Center Service Manager please offer up a few points on why it's not the
best idea to embrace it.

As I understand it thus far, the product is new, and is not ITIL compliant
(it's MOF focused). The product is limited to the Windows platform. I don't
know if it can share customers, provide different views, etc...

Any thoughts are welcome and I thank you in advance. Private responses can be
sent to my personal email and remain in confidence (william.duch...@gmail.com).

HELP KMS_DataExchange causing Malloc failed on production server

2011-12-20 Thread John . Atherly
Our production server started throwing Malloc failed on server (ARERR 300)
errors yesterday. After looking into the Filter logs I noticed that they
were full of the below entery. I checked Dev Studio for any changes to to
Filters, Escalation and found none. It looks like something is trigger
the filter to run on all Incidents to create a record in KMS_DataExchange.
Last night there were about 5000 records with the first one started at
12/18/2011 11:58:36 PM. This morning I check to see how many were created
over night and I found that yesterday records were deleted and the newest
record was dated 12/20/2011 12:01:28 AM. I checked the Escalation log and
did not see anything that would have fired that would have deleted all the
records.

I also checked our QA and Dev Servers and they are also creating
KMS_DataExchange records but only if a incident is created or Modified and
also the records from yesterday were deleted over night

Has anyone seen this before or knows anything on it

Email Engine Sending Incorrect Info

2011-12-20 Thread Kemes, Lisa
I have a form with a table that I loop through and send emails. When the
emails come through, most of them are OK, but there are about 5 or 6 out of 100
that has another person's data on it.

My form tracks what's in the email, and that's correct. I checked the AR
System Email Messages record for these emails that are incorrect, and the data
in those records are correct, but the emails are not.

So, I'm thinking (from past experience with my coworker having the same
problem) that it's a timing issue and so I put a delay on when the emails are
sent (I created a loop 1000 times before the email is pushed).

I thought BMC fixed this issue but I still see it. Maybe I should push the
data directly to the AR System Email Messages form instead of having the Filter
send the email?

Any suggestions?

Write license error while approving in 7.6.04

2011-12-20 Thread Mahendra Mahalkar
Hi All,
I am getting write license error while approving request with read license
in SRM 7.6.04, the solution on BMC support is given for prior 7.6 versions
is to confirm arsystem.tag file in the path c:\Program Files\Common File\AR
System\License\
If it is not there, create this path and keep arsystem.tag file at this
path. BMC will fix this in next release, but I think it is not yet fixed
till 7.6.04. The file is there at the right path and having right format as
suggeted on BMC site. Fields 13191 and 102 which are throwing write license
error are having Public Change access. And now I am looking for resolution
of this error. Is anybody aware about this?
