Re: Server group alias in notification web URL

2012-06-26 Thread Mike Worts
Michael,

Check out BMC Remedy Action Request System 7.6.04 Configuration Guide, page
125. I think this is what you are looking for. Add the URL of your AR server
group (e.g. http://server group name/arsys)

Email Notifications Web Path
Specifies the base URL that appears in email notifications. If this field is
left blank, the Default Web Path is used. (The Email Notifications Web Path
field is available because the Default Web Path is specified for other
applications like Flashboards, and it might be different from the mid tier web
path for opening requests in a notification.) If your company has multiple
domains, use a fully qualified path name.

 Michael,
The server sends the notification out as it 'knows itself'so if it knows
itself via name1 instead of the group alias...that is what you will get. You
should be able to configure both servers in the group to know themselves as
the group name, and use the Server-Connect-Name for the server group node
specific stuff (that's how I've set it up in the past)

Or you could use the email replace filter as previously suggested.

 Hi List,

we have two servers running ARS 7.0.01 as a group, and one MidTier server
 running V7.5.

On SYS:Notification Messages I have configured Incident Assignment
Notifications to include both an artask attachment for fullclient users and a
 web URL for midtier users.

The server parameter in the web URK always points to the alias of the first
server of the group. Since our midtier only knows the group alias, users who
click on the link are getting an error message. How can I tell the servers to
use the group alias in the web URL? Here's an example of the web URL the
server is sending (I masked the server name):

Re: Server group alias in notification web URL

2012-06-26 Thread Nau, Michael
Mike,

I already changed that parameter on both servers, but it doesn't affect
the URL generated for notifications (I didn't restart the system though,
because changing the default web path doesn't require a restart either).
From what I read in the server group config guide, I think that the
correct solution to this issue would be to change the server names in
ar.conf as suggested by Jason.

Thanks,

Michael

Hello All,

On a old computer, I've managed to upgrade to 7.6.04 tools and now everything
is ok. The difference is in OS. The old commuter has an XP SP3, while the new
one runs Win 7 on 32.

' 'Ignore required field''
This option is valid only for noncore fields.

In general I use factory settings and it works OK.

With Import tool there is an option to 'Ignore required field'. If you turn on
that option you will not receive mandetory field error.

However, if you updating the old record with new record data it should update
and should not create new record. The error you mentioned is observed only if
new record is created and values are not supplied for the mandetory field.

It seems like it is not able to idetify which record to update. Is there any
change in the unique fields for that form? Please check

Crystal Report Dynamic Parameter Issue

2012-06-26 Thread Wirasat Siddiqi
I am working on a crystal report using AR System ODBC driver. The report
is going to have a dynamic parameter that should prompt for the input

Re: Crystal Report Dynamic Parameter Issue

2012-06-26 Thread Jiri Pospisil
I have tried this long time ago and gave up on it.
It appears that dynamic parameters in Crystal are simply not compatible with
Remedy ODBC.
In my case, I ended up loading the parameters as a static list and then
refreshing the list in the report on a regular basis (this might be an option
if your data does not change too frequently).

As with all forward looking statements, everything is tentative - including the
version number.

Tentatively, the next version is currently expected to be numbered as 8.0.00,
yes. It is currently expected to be released in Q3CY12. It had been
tentatively numbered as 7.7.00 until a few months ago. This emphasizes the
reason why versions are not considered official or confirmed until General
Availability is reached.

Also note that whether it has Loads of new features or not is based on the
perception of the individual making the statement. While numbered as 8.0.00,
it would not be considered a major release based on content when compared to
the industry's typical definition of major. Unfortunately, I can't go into
details of content on a public forum to further explain. However, if you
attend WWRUG 12, I'll be doing a What's New presentation there. And, of
course, once it reaches GA there will be a What's New document that details
new features.

I really hope this version is a stable version that will win back customer

will be respectable for a such major release but I think looking at the amount
of bugs introduced since version 7.6 that stability across platforms is the
most important.

2012-06-26 Thread Susan Palmer
I have never had the opportunity to experience an 'incidental' upgrade.
Every one seems major. Although I've rarely upgraded as often as many of
you do, just from a patch level to next patch level.

I'd like to see the versions coordinated with the year so it's easily
identifiable what year the version came out.
Seems to me there were from pretty big differences between 7.1, 7.5, and
7.6.

Form Field missing in Web Reports Designer

2012-06-26 Thread Ray Palla
Listers;

We've created a custom char field in the CHG:Infrastructure Change form.
Permissions are correct for usage, read/write, and visibility. When creating
or editing a Web report from the AR System Report Console (Report Designer)
the new field is not visible or selectable.

Is there a form controlling this Available field list tables in the
Designer? How can we get the new field to display as a selectable column in
Reports?

Odd thing, the field is available for AR System reports.

OK. Thought I would chime in here.

I've seen this before, and it is related to how you have designed your
Crystal Report.

With Crystal Report Designer open and your editing your Crystal report, go
to Database-Set Datasource Location
Under the Properties of the ARSystem ODBC Data Source, ensure that the Use
DSN Default Properties = True and that you do not have any existing userids
specified here. Sometimes Crystal Reports Design will put your current
userid in this area when you are in the process of designing your report.
If you do have a userid specified here, just clear it out.I am attaching
a jpeg here , so I hope it shows up for you.

Once you've changed this, save the report and put the new definition in the
Reports form in Remedy.

If you don't do this, I've seen that you get the prompt for the
userid/password each time you try to integrate this with Remedy.

Let me know if this resolves your issue..

Terry

** No. I am not using ARAdmin user. I am using Remedy user (User defined in
CTM:People and User form).

When you say you're using the AR System user name and password , it almost
sounds line you're using the aradmin user? Which will not work.

The login you should be using is a Remedy user (ie, a user defined in the
User table).

Seems to be an issue with how you have set up your dynamic parameter. If
you cannot run it from Crystal, then I would check that. At the very least
you should be able to run it from Crystal. What parameter are you using and
how?

** I have added the report to Report form. I am able to run other
reports that do not involve dynamic parameters. However, when I run the
report that has a dynamic parameter, it does not run either from Crystal or
from remedy User tool.

  Wirasat
How are you running the report? If through Crystal then try running it
with the same credentials(I presume you have tried that), if through Remedy,
then depends. Did you add it to the current reports?
Normally that happens when it cannot connect to the database properly.
Check to see that your ODBC connection is set up correctly.

** I am working on a crystal report using AR System ODBC driver. The
report is going to have a dynamic parameter that should prompt for the input
values. I created the parameter and saved the report. However, when I try to
run the report, it opens up the authentication window to run the report. I
type the AR System user name and password but it does not get passed from
that screen keeps asking user credentials. Has anyone experienced it?
