arforkd is not running

2013-05-13 Thread Praveen Tiwari
Hi

I found all ar processed running except arforkd process and this is causing
lot of issues for us, for example where we have used set field action with some
thing like this: $PROCESS$ @@:/usr/local/bin/perl/cm/scripts/cmquery
$zTemp255$
all these actions are getting failed and that is expected when arforkd is not
running.
when i look at arforkd log, its not capturing much.

2013-05-13 Thread Pierson, Shawn
People Templates only apply when you are creating new people. If you are
setting up people who already exist, you can't apply a template.
Unfortunately, without the ability to customize, you're going to have a tough

Create some sort of a staging form for adding new users and create workflow
there to create entries required in the CTM:People Permissions Group.

The OTB filters on that form will take care of the rest.

For something like support group, you can go to the ctm:support group form
and click Add on People tab. If you do a search that returns multiple
people, I think you can ctrl+click multiple and add that way.

For app permissions, you can import into the ctm:people permission groups
form. Just look at the workflow that pushes to this form and map those in
your import.
That's 2 down buddy.

Re: SV: SV: Permission template?

2013-05-13 Thread Jlbess
Are they new users or existing users? If they're new users, you can create a
people template with all of that information. Then just create new accounts
specifying their name and contact info.
If they're existing users, you can use the data management tool. Just fill out
the spreadsheet tabs for permissions, group assignments, and functional roles.

You probably may have not deliberately changed anything but might have set your
server for automatic upgrade, which might have altered the path of your JVM and
hence it cannot find it anymore.

Have you checked to see that your JVM path is consistent with the configuration
settings in Remedy, particularly the process that starts the plugin service?

Are you running ARS as non-root?

When the startup fails is it when running ./arsystem start (from your bin
directory) or when starting from the server init ?

Apart from Application installtion dir/bin in LD_LIBRARY_PATH, I have found
only one path updated for java: /usr/java/jre/lib/sparc/client. I am not sure
after installation, is it updated or needs to be updated correctly. Can you pls

Yes Joe, I have checked by running the plugin start up command thru command

The problem happens when I get HPI library error while restarting it.

Apart from your class path examine the plugin startup command in the armonitor

assuming for some reason it has not started.

Accounting for timezone differences in notification filters

2013-05-13 Thread Yolanda Collier
The server is in a PST and the majority of the users are on the EST. When
notifications are sent out they contain the server time which will be incorrect
for our customers outside of PST.

For example:

Customer East Coast is requesting a meeting at 3 pm. The notification will
utilize the server time (which is PST) and show a 3 hour difference and the
time will reflect 12 pm.

Is there any setting or workflow that can be utilzed to ensure time zone
difference is presented in the notification sent by the filter?

Re: Converting date formats in set fields action

2013-05-13 Thread Rick Westbrock
I did try that on Friday but the field was being set to 2000 to my temp
date/time field again (see log below) so I may not have the syntax quite
correct.

I’m using this SQL query in the set fields action into the temp character field
with the idea that I am only converting the first ten characters which hold the
date (MS-SQL Server 2008): SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), $zTmpDiscoveredDate$,
101) AS DiscDate

SQL TID: 003068 RPC ID: 258818 Queue: List Client-RPC:
390620USER: rwestbrock
Overlay-Group: 1 /* Fri May 10 2013 09:41:59.3250 */SELECT
CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), 2012-09-03, 101) AS DiscDate

SQL TID: 003068 RPC ID: 258818 Queue: List Client-RPC:
390620USER: rwestbrock
Overlay-Group: 1 /* Fri May 10 2013 09:41:59.3250 */OK

ACTL zTmpWhenDiscoveredDate (936880920) = 2000

Today I should be able to insert some message actions to pause the workflow so
that I can hopefully figure out if that run process
Application-Copy-Field-Value is where the data change happens.

Remedy before importing the files with the Data Import tool. We don’t have Perl

Since you're stuck with a flatfile anyway, would it be an option for you to

I've found it's much easier to deal with heavy text validation/manipulation by

There is a Time Zone field on the AR System User Preferences form (On Locale

This field is not automatically set and you would need Users to Manually set it

There is also a Time Zone form that has the Offset seconds to be used in any

Once set, you could update any Date in any Field that would be used by the

Just being able to 'see' the WSDL file if you are viewing it from the View

You will see details of whatever the error is in the arjavaplugin log. Take

Re: Converting date formats in set fields action

Thanks Fred, I tried that but it still returns 2012-09-03 which is the correct
date but not the correct syntax. I thought that maybe by renaming the output
(which was something I left in from the sample code I used as an example) the
$1$ in the set fields was not getting a value back so I removed the AS clause
and tried again. Still the same results so maybe the direct SQL doesn't work on
a display-only field. I will proceed with the string manipulations, the basic
one for the fields that don't need to retain the timestamp is quite easy, I
just need to trap for null values since that would change the value to a single
hyphen:

RIGHT($zTmpDiscoveredDate$, 5) + - + LEFT($zTmpDiscoveredDate$, 4)

Today I should be able to insert some message actions to pause the workflow so
that I can hopefully figure out if that run process
Application-Copy-Field-Value is where the data change happens.

How about calling a direct SQL and parse the value?

Your date format is ALMOST the standard XML date format (The actual XML
format has a T between the date and time instead of a space)

I parse some XML thru Perl (using the Simple::XML package. It will create an
array you can walk easily for the 0 to many types of data. (Perl is free, so
it may still be an option)

You could also do the following

Setup some forms corresponding to the XML structures and make your own web
service you simply pass the flat file into. From your forms you can push data
where it needs to go.
Multiple child records from a main record are no problem to do.

That’s a good idea Paul. Currently we are doing some manipulation outside of
Remedy before importing the files with the Data Import tool. We don’t have Perl
available however, I’m not sure what other scripting tools I might be able to
leverage but I’ll look into it. The toughest part of this is that in the XML
file each incoming ticket can have zero to many work info entries; any work
info entries go in a different regular form (just to make for a more complex
process).

Rick,

Since you're stuck with a flatfile anyway, would it be an option for you to
process that file into a Remedy-friendly format first using a scripting
language such as perl?
I've found it's much easier to deal with

Maybe a tool which injects an api transaction to mimic end users would be good
here Howard? I can think of a few commercial options or maybe just a small java
app run as a chron type job.

Hello to all,

The past few nights we have been getting “Timeout during database update -- the
operation has been accepted by the server and will usually complete

Now I am not looking for help on troubleshooting this issue (I might in the
future if my plans for tonight does not work), but I am looking on the best way
to monitor the heath of the ARserver from a tool such as PNET.

We are monitoring for items such as ARserver size or process death, but I want
to see if I can monitor when the server is hung.

So any ideas?

Re: How to monitor the health of the arserver?

2013-05-13 Thread Laurent, David
There is a Patrol Knowledge module for monitoring AR System that might be
helpful - you can plug that into your BPPM/PNET server. See
http://documents.bmc.com/supportu/documents/90/10/219010/Output/09186a33806c5fe1.htm.
I am not sure that the version in this document is the latest though, the best
way would be to check out the available downloads you have on EPD to see what
else is there.
