Re: How to configure SRM multilevel approval based on user's answer.

2013-07-01 Thread Vitthal Kolhe
Hi,
It worked.
No need to create a new approval rule for this. if you put the approvers login
into the hidden field z1d approver and then you create a chain that has ad hoc
as the process, the ad hoc process will send the signature to the person in
that field. You set the approval on the SRD to custom and create a chain with
ad hoc followed by level.

No need to create new process.

Use SRM Requests - Level process

Create a rule there and then

create a chain approval.
Go to Application Admin console

Custom

Service request management

Approval

Chain approval

Thanks,

Thanks Ashish,
I created a SRD with approval type as "Custom". Now I am going to create
Approval rules for this.
But I haven't created approval rules till yet. So should I create new Approval
process(AP:Administration) and then

create rules for this process.

 Hi Vitthal ,
For this case you can use custom approval.

Below are the steps :
1. Select approval type as custom in SRD.

2. Create a approval rule to fulfill the 1st level approval.

3. Create entry in approval mapping form for 2nd level approval.
Thanks,

Ashish

Hi,
One of our client wants to generate multilevel approval for service request
based on user's answer to a question.
IN STAGE I we are capturing the approvers(like senior authority) full name in a
field from user. After that we use its name to get the User ID of approver.

And then we map its user ID to the "SR field 10". I want a request should go
to the approver(like senior authority in this case) for sanction.
IN STAGE II once it has approved by the senior authority then one more approval
request should go to support group for sanction.

Can some one please give an optimal solution.
Thank you.

CMBD Class Information

2013-07-01 Thread Hennigan, Sandra
Windows 2008 r2
Oracle 11g
ARS 8.1
ITSM 8.1
Test Environment

I attempted to add a field to Class Name, BMC_BaseElement, Namespace,
BMC.Core, via CMBD Class Manager. I have successfully added two other fields
without issue. This time, instead of the field getting added, the Status is
"Change Pending". It has been over 72 hours since I attempted to add the field.

I goggled CMDB Status is Change Pending and found several; many questions,
fewer responses. One of the responses I found was this:

How to debug CMDB 7.5 Change Pending Issues
OVERVIEW: CLASS Manager Activity. If a particular activity stays in Change
Pending state for a long time you can investigate the root cause by following
the steps mentioned in the document.
To resolve this problem you need to validate CMDB metadata problems. We need to
check some of the forms which may have pending entries for classes, attributes
for which class manager do not show pending entries.
LOGIN with Administrator previlege:
This is a brief descriptions of the points to check:
- WUT: Login as Demo and check the CMDB metadata. Check each record is active,
unique and it's correct.
STEPS:
The forms to check and fix are:
Step1: Class (OBJSTR:Class) -> Check there is NOT pending entries (No entries
where 'System Status*' != "Active" )
Fix: If there are not active entries, you need to backup those entries on arx
format and delete them.
1.a Check Class (OBJSTR:Class) again where 'Pending ID' != "0" OR 'OSStatus' !=
"Active"
Fix: If there are entries with Pending ID != 0, you have to investigate this
problem carefully.
Step 2: Attribute Definitions (OBJSTR:AttributeDefinition) -> Check there is
NOT pending entries (No entries where 'Record Status' != "Active")
Fix: If there are not active entries, you need to backup those entries on arx
format and delete them.
**
Step 3: OBJSTR:Index (OBJSTR:Index) -> Check there is NOT pending entries (No
entries where 'Record Status' != "Active")
Fix: If there are NOT active entries, you need to backup those entries on arx
format and delete them.
Step 4: OBJSTR:IndexAttrib (OBJSTR:IndexAttrib) -> Check there is NOT pending
entries (No entries where 'Record Status' != "Active")
Fix: If there are not active entries, you need to backup those entries on arx
format and delete them.
***
Step 5: OBJSTR:Pending -> Check there are not errors here.
Fix: If there are errors, please read them and fix the problem. Otherwise, you
need to backup those entries on arx format and delete them.
Step 6: Application Pending -> Check there are not entries waiting processing
here.
Fix: Wait until all the entries are deleted. If they are not deleted, to fix
the problem, you need to backup those entries on arx format and delete them
manually.

Re: CMBD Class Information

2013-07-01 Thread Pabitra Subudhi
Hi we can avoid the Change Pending issue with the help of cmdb driver. Just
need to run the driver with proper steps being followed. The setps are:-

1. go to the Atrium core installed directory.
2. set path like export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=:$$
3. export $LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
4. run:- ./cmdbdriver
5. run:- init Just to initialize the utility
6.Run:- log and provide preper AR login information
7.Run:- ssp and provide the TCP and RPC port if any in use.
8.Run sync
9. It will ask for some Pending ID:- take it from OBJSTR:Class form by
searching for Pending System status and copy the Pending ID and paste it in
this command.
10.Wait for some time for sync. once completed (we will again get back to
command mode fro halt screen)you can refresh the OBJSTR:Class, and see the
nerty should be removed. Verify from Class manager console itself and go
for the fields in respective classes.

Pls. Let me know if this would help you.

Thanks much!

Linked Server Puzzle

2013-07-01 Thread Warren R. Baltimore II
First off.

ARS 7.6.04 patch 1
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
ITSM 7.6.04

MS SQL 2008 R2
Windwos Server 2008 R2 Standard

Linking to an Oracle 10g db

I am attempting to create a view form of the legacy server at my current
project. It's a NON unicode database. My current db is Unicode.

I've installed Oracle Client on the production db server.

I've tried 2 methods to connect

1. I created an ODBC connection to the Oracle server. I get a successfful
connection. I then access the current SQL server and create a linked
server using the ODBC connection I had created. All tables show up,
however when I attempt to select a table, I get an error that the table
(any of them) contains no columns or the current user does not have
permissions on that object. This is strange as I am using the db owners
login to access the data.

Additionally, if I go ahead and attempt to create the view form at this
point, Remedy will pull back all of the fields on the form, but if I try to
save the form, I receive the ARError message 552: "The SQL database
operation failed. : Invalid object name "\[2 task name]\[table name]. (SQL
Server 208)

2. Instead of using the ODBC drivers, I instead tried to create the Linked
Server using the "Oracle Provider for OLE DB" provider. I set it up with
the Product name of "Oracle" and the Data Source name is the appropriate 2
task name listed in the TNSNAMES.ORA file that I loaded on the server when
I installed the Oracle Client. I am using the Oracle user that owns the db
to connect. When I attempt to create it, I get the error "The Linked
server has been created but failed a connection test. Do you want to keep
the linked server." Additionally, it tells me that "An exception occurred
while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch.
(Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)" and "Cannot create an instance of OLE
DB Provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle for linked server "[2 task name]". (Microsoft
SQL Server, Error: 7302). Additionally, in the SQL Server log, I am
seeing the error "The OLD DB initialization service failed to load.
Reinstall Microsoft Data Access Components. If the problem persists,
contact product support for the OLEDB provider."

I was going through the kbase and google, and I came across references to
making sure that Named Pipes and TCP are enabled (they are) and that the db
user (ARAdmin) has local admin privelages on the db server (it does).

I'm more than a bit stumped. I don't currently have a lot of DBa support,
so I'm hoping someone in ARSlist land may have run into this and knows what
direction to point me.

Thanks much in advance!

Sandra,

I have used the steps you listed in our 7.5 environment - going through all
the forms, deleting entries, & it worked.

To avoid this happening in the first place I found it helps to restart
Remedy before extending the CMBD. It also helps to make sure everything was
entered absolutely correctly. Not that I've ever entered anything
incorrectly; I've just heard about it.

Re: CMBD Class Information

Pabitra,

To me, the directions seem a bit abbreviated. Doe BMC have a more robust set of
directions that I can follow?

Verify from Class manager console itself and go for
the fields in respective classes.
Pls. Let me know if this would help you.
Thanks much!

Thank you, Rebecca. I think the failue to write is likely due to the lack of

Sandra,

I have used the steps you listed in our 7.5 environment - going through all the
forms, deleting entries, & it worked.

To avoid this happening in the first place I found it helps to restart Remedy
before extending the CMBD. It also helps to make sure everything was entered
absolutely correctly. Not that I've ever entered anything incorrectly; I've
just heard about it.

Result list show in web view

2013-07-01 Thread clemence
currently when a user performs a search in AR Client, the result list is
shown at the top with details at the bottom. However, when the user perform
the same search via mid tier, the results are shown in results list table.
Is there a way to have the mid tier same view (result list at top, details
at the bottom) as client ?

Re: How to get a table in a form to be populated with data on form load

2013-07-01 Thread itsm.support
Hi,

You can achieve this by following two ways.

1. Use 'Change Field' Action in Active Link on Window Load , select 'table
name' and 'Check Refresh Tree/Table' option.

2. In Active Link on Window load option, Use run Process
'PERFORM-ACTION-TABLE-REFRESH' followed by 'table field ID'

Subject: How to get a table in a form to be populated with data on form load

**

Hi

I have a Table on a Form and I have set the columns to be fields in another
form - a contacts form with eg name, age, address, etc.

When the form is loaded it does not display any of the records. But if I
click on one of the column headers it then displays the daya in the table.

I tried an active link run process - PERFORM-ACTION-TABLE_REFRESH, execute
on Window loaded.

I tried an active link with a set fields, field the table Value Default,
execute on Window loaded.

But neither of those work.

What should I be doing to display the data in the table on window loaded?

Angus
