ARSPerl 1.93 environment setup with ARS 8.1 issue

Hi,

Currently I am setting up ARSperl 1.93 environment for remedy 8.1 version. I am 
getting following error when I run ‘make test’  --- “Can't load 
'/apps/tim/ar/ActivePerl-5.16/site/lib/auto/ARS/ARS.so' for module ARS: 
/apps/tim/ar/ActivePerl-5.16/site/lib/auto/ARS/ARS.so: undefined symbol:  
ucnv_open_3_2 at /apps/tim/ar/ActivePerl-5.16/lib/DynaLoader.pm line 191.”

Here is my environment detail

OS  -- RHEL 6.4 (64 bit)
Remedy   – ARS 8.1 (patch 2)
Perl– ActivePerl-5.16 (32 bit)
ARSPerl – ARSPerl 1.93

I have attached Makefile for your reference. Please can you help me to find out 
what is the issue here what went wrong for me.

You can setup a separate server to run the Email Engine service, there is a 
knowledge article to change the registry to make the email engine run without 
AR Server and then point email engine to your ARS.

 I am attempting to consume a Web Service that is associated with another
 Remedy system.  One of the options is to push an attachment (up to 3) from
 my server to the other.



 In the Set Field, The web service from my corresponding server is being
 broken out into 3 elements:

 attachmentName

 attachmentData

 attachmentOrigSize



 Of course, on my side, all I have is attachement1, 2 and 3



 How do I send the attachment?  Is there a way to break my side down into
 the 3 elements?  Do I need to?



 Any help would be most appreciated!

Vidya,
What is your trigger for this? ( Display, Window Open etc)
This action tells the client that something was modified on that record. 
SET-CHANGE-FLAG [1] turns the flag ON.
Then when you leave the current record the system wants to know if you need to 
save your changes.

A few others have given you sound advice. Find the Active Link that is making a 
change to your record when you view it. Active Link logging is your best bet. 
If you find an active link that is setting something like a Display Only field 
you would probably want to find out if disabling the change flag for that field 
is an option. Some display only fields are used as change triggers so don't 
just disable it without investigating.

OS/platform version:   Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.4 (Santiago), 
kernel 2.6.32-358.23.2.el6.x86_64
Database vendor/version - Remote or local:  Oracle Database 11g Release 
11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit

Now,
in the Incident Management Console I'm trying to customize the display by 
inserting or deleting COLUMNS, although pressing the SAVE button, exiting and 
re-entering,  the Remedy view DOES NOT APPEAR AS WAS PREVIOUSLY SET.
The same situation happens when I use the Overview Console, you can not save 
the preferences that you are selected on 'show' menu, besides I can not make a 
selection for all of my groups without Assignee ('Unassigned')

Currently when i enter in the Overview Console are displays only the tickets 
assigned to yourself, i'd like to display the tickets only awarded to the group 
'unassigned'

I have passed the message to colleagues to change manually the 'show' 
dropdownlist   everytime that it logs in, but if you could have automatically 
would certainly be more comfortable.

Peter,
If the save preferences is not working properly, I would recommend
contacting BMC and opening a defect.  I know the feature requires a
preference server be set for the Mid-Tier...you could certainly check to
see if the user preference record is getting updated...

As this is your Linux VM. You don’t have registry there. Please run ARS 
installer and only select Email Engine component.  Once installation is done 
you can edit emaildeamon.properties file and point that EE instance to desired 
AR Server.. this is straight forward and does not need to refer the KA.

Quickest way to do it.. is installed gui based installer for email engine 
component,  that installer will create a file called  ARSystem-ini-template 
please refer that template for installing email engine in silent mode.. you can 
rename this file to Options.txt if you want.

Issue with attachments becoming corrupted after approval

Few details before I dive into my issue.  Our system is 100% custom, we're
running 7.06.03 on a windows F5 configuration.  

I have one user reporting an issue with pdf attachments.  After he attaches
the file, he is able to open the pdf without any issues.  After he saves the
record, and the parent change request, he is still able to view the pdf
without problem.  However, there are times while the change request is going
through our approval process when the pdf file becomes corrupted.  The
approver cannot open the file, the pdf returns a message that the file is
corrupted and un-repairable. 

Unfortunately, the submitter is not able to readily recreate the issue for
me.  We spoke several times recently and created several test tickets
following his process with no luck in re-creating the issue.  However, last
night he had another pdf go bad.

I have searched for similar issues but haven't found anything yet.  Does
anyone know why a pdf file would become corrupted like this?  The submitter
is in Virginia, and the approver is in India.  However this doesn't happen
often enough to indicate that location would be a cause.

I know that this is a needle in a needle stack sort of situation, especially
without being able to reproduce the issue.  Any insight would be helpful
though, thanks.

Last night I did upgrade MidTier to SP 5  HF 101813.  Has anyone seen
this before?

I was afraid of that answer.  I will be flushing the server cache
tonight to see if it fixes it.  Just can't do that on prod in the middle
of the day or the system is too slow as it builds cache and the Help
Desk gets too backed up.

Hi,

 

We are trying to modify the HPD:HelpDesk form and we are having trouble with
the panels.

In the Add Info section, next to the Notes field we want to add a
Date/Time field in the white space.

 

In the Developer Studio panel properties, when I try to increase the panel
width - the size is grayed out (not editable).

I believe this is on the Activities Panel (OOB). When I drag the fields out
of the panel, they do not move.

We are unable to add the Date/Time field - and I do not understand why since
there is a lot of white space.

 

We reviewed BMC's technical guides, videos,  however we do not seem to be
able to modify the panels.

I must be missing an important step here.

Kathy,
As Roger said, you will need to create a view overlay, and then add the
fields in question to that view overlay to be able to move them around on
the panel, or add the panel to the overlay to be able to re-size it.

getting error while saving the active link in developer studio.

Hello All,

I am facing an issue while trying to save active link. I am opening an
existing active link and adding one more push field in existing Push field
action. Then when i try to save that active link , i am getting following
pop up :

Group having ID :-20,000 does not exist on the server. This group has
been removed from the permission list.,  5309

when i press Okbutton present on popup, same active link gets saved. But
data never get pushed into newly added field .

Could you please help me to sort out this issue?

I am using ITSM 7.6.00 Patch 1 and ARS version is 7.5 Patch 8.

That error comes when an Active Link belongs to a deployable application,
and that application had a role, and that role was given
permissionsthen at some later time, that role was removed from the
application, but the permission was never stripped from the ALso the
next time the AL is opened and saved, it checks to verify the permissions,
finds that they are 'invalid', and is supposed to strip the permission from
the ALI believe it's a warning, not an error, with the distinction that
an error would stop the saving, where a warning allows the save

Now, the question, if you close and re-open the Active Link in question,
are the changes you specified still in it?

I have noticed something similar in 7.6.04 SPx too. This is usually because the 
panel is inside another panel (nested panels?). I had to created overlays for 
parent panels before I could make certain changes.

The nested panels can be seen in the outline view in developer studio.

The panel z2PF_Activities has under Display has the Layout Style: Fill which 
ignores the fields XY and height/width. This property allows the panel to 
adjust to the size of the browser window. That is why those setting cannot be 
changed.
