Hi :)

There is no user tool anymore bundled in 8.x, but you can use the one from
7.6.04… Though it would be better to get used to mid-tier only

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone out there has set up their servers and clients to
all use only UTC time (i.e. GMT time without switching to BST for DST)?

We run a custom shop with global functions so we need a flat timezone. We'd
like to standardize to GMT+0 Europe/London but we are worried that the
clients will automatically transition to BST if we set their preference to
GMT, as there is no DST on/off toggle.

Any experience in this matter is appreciated!

Thanks,
Paul Blasquez

Re: ARS, Atrium, ITSM, etc. 7.6.04 and patches 003 and 004...

2013-01-08 Thread Anthony Jurado Jr

Hi,

We upgraded our dev server and midtier to 7.6.04 several weeks ago. Since
then, pages displayed in the MT do not show some standard gif images- e.g.,
the arrow for pull-down menus, the elipses for text area, etc. BMC support
offered the solution of dropping and and re-adding the components. (We're
not real excited by that prospect.) We haven't really had time to play
with debugging it on our own yet, as the team is wrapping up a critical
project due at the end on Jan.

Question 1
Although the versions and patch releases in the past had barely been
chronologically consistent, BMC has managed to do a fair job of keeping
this fairly consistent over the past few releases, both major and
maintenance.

However I do not see a patch 003 for the ITSM application. I see one for
the AR Server, Approval, Atrium, RKM and almost all other complimentary
tools with the exception of the ITSM suite.

Was patch 003 never released for the ITSM suite??

Was it released and then recalled?

Question 2
Is patch 004 for 7.6.04 released for the whole suite? Are there any major
problems anyone had with it?

Joe

That’s what I thought. I have been doing a variation of that when I saw
sporadic problem like that.. the funda behind that ‘fix’ is you change the
display property of the affected part – for eg if the edit box doesn’t
appear right change the hide show attribute of it, or if the menu does not
appear right, detach it and then add it.. I have got better results by
saving the form twice, once after making that ‘negative’ change, and then
after adding the property back..

Unfortunately for the problem you are having, I have noticed that to be the
only solution. Hopefully not too many objects per form are screwed up.

Remember to flush the MT cache at both those times..

Nope it doesn't help.

I had similar issues in the past, where for some reason the display at the
mid tier is not right. I have had half the labels of a field visible,
sometimes the data area of the field shorter or way longer than it actually
appears on the dev studio, sometimes the edit box not visible when it
should be or visible when it shouldn't.. And I've never found a pattern on
when to expect these problems.

Hi Folks,

I just switched my workstation from Windows to Linux. I don't see a

Note that the platform listed at the product name is Linux, but the

Is there anyone out there running Dev Studio on Linux?

That does sound like a fair reasoning.. Is it easy to switch back and
forth? Meaning when lets say at a public terminal at a hotel and on a
QWERTY, can you still type with ease?

Joe,

I had a friend at a job a number of years ago that was suffering from
horrible carpel tunnel syndrome and switched to Dvorak and his symptoms
went away entirely. I decided that because I was relatively young at the
time, and planning on typing for a vast majority of my career…it might be
better to head this one off before I had a syndrome that is proven to be
very common in people that type on a regular basis…so I switched….all in
all it took about 3 months of very frustrating times to switch from touch
Qwerty to touch Dvorak. I find that I do type a bit faster…I was averaging
about 60wpm before, and average somewhere around 80wpm now…and regarding
the alternate picking….how many words have regular consecutive vowels? Not
many…so even though in this configuration, your left hand on ‘home row’ is
used regularly, it’s your home row, so it doesn’t take as much travel with
your fingers as traditional Qwerty….and the layout is designed to reduce
overall movement on the most common words, thus faster typing and less
repetitive motion syndrome J I’m by no means recommending anyone ‘make the
switch’, but it’s working for me and over a decade later the only problem I
have is hunting and pecking on all computers other than mine (except those
I have the layout installed on that I use regularly)….I still type on the
same Qwerty keyboard that you find at your local computer store….but being
I touch type, the labels on the keys don’t mess with my mind J

Interesting.. I never met anyone who uses that keyboard. How do you find
its use? Does it actually make it easier to type faster than QWERTY if you
are already used to QWERTY?

One thing I do not understand about that keyboard is how can it be faster
when the all the vowels are found on one side. All

I was originally using the 7.5 version of the API. I just tried with 7.6.4
and got the same result.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to turn it into an internal representation.

Sothat begs the question then...what version of the API are you using?
Have you tried the latest 7.6.4 SP3? Can you try to use turn it into an
internal representation...and then back out to see if it goes there and
back
and comes out the same way it went in?

Hi,

Thanks to LJ and Jose for the replies! As suggested I looked at the logs.
The output seems to support the idea that there is a bug in
parseQualification:

When called on a field that works as expected ('Summary' in the example
below) the result is:
 SELECT T852.C1,C536870989 FROM T852 WHERE (T852.C8 = 'atl01a')
ORDER
BY C536870944 DESC, 1 ASC

When called on a field that causes an exception ('Associated Asset' in the
example below) the result is:
 SELECT T852.C1,C536870989 FROM T852 WHERE (T852.C536870989
ORDER BY
C536870944 DESC, 1 ASC

When called using LIKE instead of = on the 'Associated Asset' the result
is:
 SELECT T852.C1,C536870989 FROM T852 WHERE (dbms_lob.instr
(T852.C536870989, 'atl01a') 0) ORDER BY C536870944 DESC, 1 ASC
Unfortunately, while this runs without an error, it does return any
results.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that parseQualification is
not generating a working sql statement in the example that causes an
exception. Note that there is no comparison operator or RHS value between
T852.C536870989 and ORDER BY.
Further, the sql statement that is generated when LIKE is used doesn't
result in the correct results.

thanks again,

Tony,
I have tried doing searches (via the user tool) on 0 length fields and
received errors (I believe it stores them in clob in the db)...but I'm on
SQL, and my error was different...but I suspect that the problem is a DB
problem, not a Remedy problemcan you issue the same query in the user
tool...and then maybe get an sql log of the request and try it directly at
the DB?...I fully suspect you will find that it's a db problem and not an
api

Hi,

Thanks to LJ and Jose for the replies! As suggested I looked at the logs.
The output seems to support the idea that there is a bug in
parseQualification:

When called on a field that works as expected ('Summary' in the example
below) the result is:
SELECT T852.C1,C536870989 FROM T852 WHERE (T852.C8 = 'atl01a') ORDER
BY C536870944 DESC, 1 ASC

When called on a field that causes an exception ('Associated Asset' in the
example below) the result is:
SELECT T852.C1,C536870989 FROM T852 WHERE (T852.C536870989 ORDER BY
C536870944 DESC, 1 ASC

Further, the sql statement that is generated when LIKE is used doesn't
result in the correct results.

thanks again,
Tony

Subject: invalid relational operator exception from QualifierInfo

Hi,

I have a Java program which uses getListEntry(). I use a QualifierInfo
object to create the qualification for getListEntry. The qualification
looks like this:

  QualifierInfo qualifier = remedyConn.parseQualification(arForm,
'Associated Asset' = \atl01a\);

Which results in this exception:
 CreateRemedyTicket.getSchema ARExceptionERROR (552): Failure
during SQL operation to the database; ORA-00920: invalid relational
operator

Oddly, if I change the equal sign to LIKE the query works:

QualifierInfo qualifier = remedyConn.parseQualification
(arForm,'Associated Asset' LIKE \atl01a\); // works

I have other qualifiers for different fields on the same form in which use
the equal sign with no problem. E.g.:

QualifierInfo qualifier = remedyConn.parseQualification
(arForm,'Summary' = \System Down\); // works

The properties for the Summary and Associated Asset are the same with the
following two exceptions:

Entry Mode is Required for the Summary field (which works as expected) and
optional for the Associated Asset (which doesn't work).
Input Length is 254 for the Summary field and 0 for the Associated Asset
field.

I would appreciate any suggestions!

thanks in advance,
