Re: Fortify as Source Code Review Tool for Remedy?

2016-10-10 Thread Daniel Wu
Fortify is programming language code based, at least for the suite like Web
Inspect or the Code Analyzer. What are you trying to do ? To see the detail
underlying java code ?

When I say source code I mean *.java files, you mean use a decompiler to
read. However, most of the files in Remedy is more of already compiled code
- *.jar files. Something like a free tool called JavaDecompiler can
reconstruct the .java code, without 100% accuracy.

You can try to use that. If that's what you wanted to do, Fortify is not
the tool for that. If you only need to read the *.def file for various
objects, you can just use any enhanced text edit tool like Notepad++ to do
so.

If you have custom code in Remedy, it can help you review the custom code.
But for out of the box Remedy code, there is no way to see the source code,
unless you have the source code. Hopefully it helps.

Re: 9.1 Upgrade Change HostID

2016-09-02 Thread Daniel Wu
My understanding is that the license key and the host id is store on the
DB. If you are upgrading, whether or not you are upgrading on the same host
server or different, the store DB value will be taken over(updated) with
newest value of the MAC at the moment you launch the server license form.
The you must add the new license key to pair with the new Host ID, or it
will be recognized by the source code (internal program) that's a invalid
license key.

Here is what we have installed in sequence.
1.JDK 1.6u34
2.Mid Tier 7.6.04 along with tomcat 6
3.Config mid tier config tool
4.Restart mid tier server

I wander if there is more to do on the tomcat, other than changing the
server.xml for the port(what we prefer to do).

Hi Warren,
I am curious when you "upgrade" to version 9. Did you really go through the
upgrade steps or you went new instance and cut over? I ask this because we
are also consider version 9. We are on 7.6.04.

Upgrade ITSM from 7.6.04 SP3 to 9.0.01

2016-01-19 Thread Daniel Wu
Is there any major issue upgrade from ARS 7.6.04 SP3 to 9.0.01 ?
We are considering upgrade options. And we are debating from 8.1.02 vs. 9.0.01.
Any help or guides is much appreciated.

About our ITSM 7.6.04 SP3:
sitting on unix based Oracle 11gR2 DB
App Server is separated with Mid Tier server.

Re: Upgrade ITSM from 7.6.04 SP3 to 9.0.01

2016-01-19 Thread Daniel Wu
Thank you, David. I think we are going to set up the new environment just
as you described. My concern would be those overlays and custom objects.
Would there be any major issues causing the obj import to fail, so we will
have to recreate those objects? Also when you say "copy data", what did you
mean by that? Is it export to arx then import?

7.6.04 is what we started with.

Move Objects on CHG:Infrastructure Change

2015-11-30 Thread Daniel Wu
I am trying to move objects on the CHG:Infrastructure Change from current
environment to a new environment. Both environments are pretty much the same.
But i ran into same fields appear twice after the .def import. An example would
be Field1 is on the current form, Field 1 is on new overlay. Field1 and Field 1
are the same, but with different field ID. So it appeared as Field1 Field 1 in
the new destination form, instead of just Field 1, which is what I want.

How would I avoid that from happening, without blowing away the existing data
in CHG:Infrastructure Change?
If I have to delete the base form from Base Dev mode, the data will disappear.
If I just simply just import, then the scenario like the above will happen.
There is got to be an alternative.

I am using ITSM 7.6.04.
