Want to install ARS 7.6.04 & ITSM 7.6.04

2011-12-04 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

I am facing some issues with the installation of ARS 7.6.04V & ITSM 7.6.04V.
My current environment details are as follows:

1. OS - Windows 2008 Server SP-1(64-bit)
2. DB - SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition(64-bit).
3. JDK - 1.6.X(64-bit)
4.Remedy Installers Version:
a. ARS 7.6.04
b. ITSM Apps 7.6.04

5.Hardware Setup:
a. Setup on VM
b. HDD - 80GB
c. RAM - 8GB

I have installed this remedy version in my test bed( going through release
notes for 7.6.04, comaptibity matrix, etc) alongwith the mid-tier.
But, now i am facing issues with the UI,performance. Whenever i am log-in
into the server, it happens successfully, took me to the homepage, but
whenever i clicked on any applications, it hangs or displays the results
abnormally. The same tasks when i opened through objectlist, it is opening
successfully. I am not at all getting what is this happening.

Please let me know whether this installation is working or not. If not, plz
guide me the steps of installing 7.6.04V or if anyone having any
document/snapshots wrt installation, plz share, i will be thankfull 2 u.

Need to build a reporting server

2012-01-26 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

I have a requirement to set up a reporting server for our remedy production
server.Purpose is to reduce the load on the production server, and for
every request made for reporting, will automatically route to that
reporting server, and the enduser fetch the report without knowing the
background(fetching the report from the reporting server).

My Current Production server setup details:

OS- Windows 2003 64-bit server
ARS- 7.5.03
ITSM Apps-7.6.03
Database- SQL server 2005 enterprise edition(On a different windows server)
Midtier- Windows 2003 server(64-bit)-on a different server

My Queries:
1. If i want to setup a reporting server, then shall i need new hardware?
2.Shall i need to install the remedy software in it?
3. Will it consume remedy license?
4. Shall i need to install the databse and need to synchronize with the
production database?

Please suggest and any help in this regard is highly appreciated. and also
if anybody having any other ideas to implement the same in a unique way,
kindly disclose the same.

Waiting for the reponse.

Re: Need to build a reporting server

2012-01-26 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

We are planning to set up the reporting server by either of the following:
 1. Setting up a specific remedy AR box just for reporting---> if we are
going this way, what are the prerequisites required(remedy licenses are
required?) and how this can be achieved?

2. We are thinking of setting a new server with a new database installed
and then we synchronize this database with the remedy production
database. For reporting purpose, we will provide the link of this new
database created in remedy production server> Can anyone suggest, will
this functionality works for fetching reports from remedy production
server. If works, can anyone suggests how to implement the same.

We are not considering of using BMC Analytical.

Valuable suggestions are highly needed in this regards. consider my queries
also which i have raised in my initial mail.
Waiting for the response

Remedy Reporting Requirements

2012-02-01 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

I have a requirement to set up a Reporting server in remedy.

As per our process, we need to purge data from Production server after
every 3 months to maintain performance and data storage.

We need reporting Server only for reporting purpose which will hold
all purged data and real time data from Production.

Secondly, the reporting server must have read only access to end
users. No one can modify the data from this server.

Can anybody help me to implement this?

I need basic steps to setup reporting server which will fulfill above
requirements.

Re: How to create an archival server in remedy in windows platform!!!

2012-02-15 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,
@Allen,
Thanks for your valuable suggestions. But out of the available options, i
think i need to choose the best otherwise i will be playing with fire.

I am looking to archive the data in the following way:

1. Selective archiving( with conditions such as all the tickets which are
closed by the system, cancelled tickets with work logs, attachments), but
here full archiving of data is also open and in mind.
2. As far as archived data is concerned, we will be using that data for
reporting as well as for audit purpose.
3.We are ready to stand up another instance of remedy(But not sure about
the licensing terms of BMC like AR server license,ITSM Apps
license,Database license.)
4.We have implemented Remedy in our company four months back,so data is not
so huge, but as the time passes on, it will grow further. So, can you
suggest what frequency should we adopt for archiving(like daily,
weekly,monthly)
5.Initially i am thinking of using DSO,but seems it is complex, so i am
going for archive forms. While archiving, i want to move the data
completely to newly created remedy instance which will reduce the load on
the production and can be used for reporting purpose on the newly created
remedy instance. On production, only the current data will resides like 3-4
months old data.

I also request you to share any document which will guide me step by step
approach or plan, which will help me to achieve the required goal.

Guidance is always a ray of light to eliminate the darkness of ignorance.

With a smiling face

Regards

Hari

Re: V7.1 Product import

2012-02-16 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi Jesse,

In ITSM V7.1, for importing products, you can use Data Management Tool,
which will help you to import the data with proper validation. DSL and DHL
kind of stuffs can be easily imported into the Remedy system using this
tool.

Also u can found the respective document for importing the product data in
BMC website.

Remedy Logs to be listed in Logging server

2012-02-18 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

I have a query with respect to enabling logs monitoring through a logging
server. In Remedy, we do have different kinds of logs like arerror log,
armonitor log, etc. Now i have a requirement to monitor all such logs which
are relevant in remedy administration to be handled automatically by a
logging server, which will alerts us during any abnormal situations with
warnings, critical alerts, so that we make ourselves prepared to face such
situations with best resolution.

Can anyone suggest me which are the following logs should i enable in
logging server which will ensure my remedy administration to the higher
maturity level? As per me, every logs are essential as they provide me the
root cause of any event occured.
But based on priorties, which remedy logs should i opt for.

Please suggest.

Logo Branding in Remedy

2012-04-16 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi AIl,

I have an query with respect to Logo branding in Remedy.I have an
requirement of branding my customized Remedy ITSM suite by replacing the
BMC logo with my company logo wherever needed.

My current Remedy platform is ARS 7.5.04 and ITSM apps 7.6.001, database
used is SQL server 2005
I gone through all the forms available in Remedy along with customization
and i found there are more than 2800+ forms.
I have certain concerns which are as follows:
1. We are using all ITSM apps, and our system is in production, so my
management wants me to change all BMC logo with our company logo.
2. Users are accessing Remedy, so my first task is to change the user
facing forms with BMC logo with my company logo. So, can any one suggest
what approach should i follow to achieve the target.Changing logo in all
forms will be a tiring job like going through each & every form and
changing the logo. Is there any other option of achieving this by any other
way.
3.What precautions should i take in terms of bulk changing the logo & How,
if possible.
4.Dimension of logo matters or the system take the logo in its defined
format by its own.

Also if i proceed with application wise like IM,PM,CM,SLM,Assets, then
which forms should i consider like regular form, view form, vendor
form,display only form,join form,core forms,etc.

If anybody had worked in the past or currently working, please share your
valuable suggestions.

Re: Logo Branding in Remedy

2012-04-17 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi,

As per the suggestions, using developer studio,i found currently we have
more than 400+ images, if as per my requirement like branding of my company
logo instead of BMC logo, then shall i go for modifications for each &
every images & modified the existing images(like embed the new image with
the old one) or create a new image, & this new image will be automatically
referenced in the existing forms.

Also, is it necessary to do the branding of BMC core forms, and will that
affect the definition of any forms and one more thing, if i changes or
removes the dimensions of the logo(label), will that affect the form
definition.

Please suggest.

Incident Audit log tracking issue in BMC Remedy Incident Management(ITSM)

2014-04-24 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

Hope you were doing well.

I have one query with respect to BMC Remedy Incident management
application(ITSM).
In our premise, we have Remedy setup with following versions:

1. AR Server Version =7.5.00 patch 004
2. Incident Management Application version = 7.6.00 patch 001
3. Service Request management Version = 7.6.00 patch 001

We have SRM in place for end user self help & is integrated with Incident
management for issue handling and resolution.

Suppose when a ticket gets raised and assigned to an engineer for
resolution and whatever the activities performed by the engineer on the
ticket such as changing the status from assigned to in progress, in
progress to pending,etc.. So list of ticket transactions were logged in the
incident audit log with modified field and with current system timestamp.

Here, we want to track such ticket events or transactions in an sequential
order based on date & time from end to end.
But, we are unable to achieve this as we are not getting from where shall
we can track end to end.

I referred the Incident audit log form, but it consists some ambiguous data
about the ticket. If, in actual, ticket consists of 8-9 transactions, but
in incident audit log form, it is showing only 2 or 3 entries, which stops
my tracking.

Hence, I request you all, if anyone has worked on it, please provide your
pointers.

Awaiting for your response.

Want to implement Single Sign-On(SSO)

2012-05-14 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

Hope you all are doing well, this is with reference to one of my
requirement of implementing SSO in Remedy environment.
My Current Remedy Setup is :

Platform: OS= Windows 2003 Server
Database= SQL Server 2005
Remedy AR Server = 7.5.004
Remedy ITSM Apps Version= 7.6.001
Users were LDAP authenticated.

Midtier Env:

OS= Windows 2003 Server
Web Server= Apache Tomcat

I want to implement SSO in my environment with my current setup. But i am
not getting the clear picture of how to implement this.Till date, what i
found that:
1. Can be achieved through customized SSO: In this, we need to write some
external java class which will authenticate the users. Here, my question is
"Is there any need of any extra web server depending on my current
environment. I heard of web access manager by BMC,Oracle, etc".Plz suggest.

2. Third party provided SSO solutions.

3. To upgrade my existing version to 7.6.04, where BMC has provided the SSO
solution.

Other queries of mine are:

a. SSO requires license or not, if yes, then shall we need to take a call
with BMC for license.
b. what validation parameter should i consider while implementing SSO.
c. Shall we need any Web access manager for implementing SSO.And if i am
going for Oracle web access manager, will it create some compatibility
issue with SQL server 2005.

Any help or any suggestions will contribute a lot.

Thanks & Regards

Can anyone having any ideas how to modify the fonts and its size(with

As whenever we view the flashboard in full mode, this legend variable is so
small, that it is not at all visible in large screens.
Details:
AR Server-> 7.5.004
ITSM Suite-->7.6.004

So, i want to increase legend size of the flashboard, please provide any

Automation of license tracking in Remedy

2012-10-22 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

Hope you all are doing well :)

I have a requirement of automating the license tracking in Remedy.
So, what i have currently in Remedy(AR Server Version 7.5.004 & ITSM suite
7.6.001):

-->Few forms such as manage license usage form(Vendor form from
BMC),historical form, and few regular forms.

What currently I am looking for, is to automate license tracking in Remedy
whether on form(through customizing) or through database level, which will
trigger me an email when the highest usage of license consumption is
reached, so that accordingly we will take necessary actions to release the
licenses(floating), which will optimize the license usage.

Another option on application level, is that, is there any form available
in Remedy where user's session data is stored like login time, log-out time
and if the answer is yes, what is the form name, and its schema id with
respect to database.

If anybody having knowledge on it or in the past worked, please share, would
be of great help.

Thanks John for your prompt response.

But, here I need some starting point, as from BMC, we are having some
forms, such as vendor form, and through that dynamic user data is

the exact form name details or the database table from where i can apply my
logic to workout on the same.
Any ray of light in this regard would be of great help.

Stopping normalization job when reconciliation is running

2012-10-22 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi Folks,

Hope you all doing well :)

As per my subject line is concerned, I want to disable the normalization
activity while running the reconciliation activity in CMDB.
During reconciliation activity, we are neither performing any normalization
activity earlier or after. during its run, the normalization activity runs
in the backend and generates large amount of logs with errors.

So, it is useless to carry forward this normalization activity in parallel
to reconciliation jobs.

Here, i want to know, how to stop this normalization activity with its
logging when this reconciliation activity is running.

Any help in this regard, would be of great help.

Pending based notifications & customizations in BMC Remedy ITSM 7.6.001 V

2014-08-15 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi All,

Hope you are doing well.

I have one requirement where my need is about developing the notifications
for the Remedy incidents which are in 'pending' status with only a valid
status reason as 'customer', excluding all other status reasons.

As we all know, in pending status, SLA clock stops, but here my requirement
is.

I want to develop a mechanism where Remedy system(ITSM specially service
Desk) shoots notification emails on an interval of:
1. 1st notification after 24 hours when ticket is in pending status with
status reason as Customer
2. 2nd notifications after 48 hours when ticket is in pending status with
status reason as Customer.
3. 3rd notification after 72 hours and will automatically moves the pending
status to resolved with some resolution remarks.

Basically, main objective of this funationality is to alert the customer
that some information is awaited from his/her end and after above
notifications, ticket will be marked as resolved as no actions were
performed from customer end.

Where i got stuck is, since, the ticket is in pending status, how can i
calculate the time interval for considering 24, 36 & 72 hours.

Hence, looking ahead for your much needed suggestions to achieve this
functionality, if it is possible.

Hope, anyone has achieved this in past.

Please suggest.

Re: Mongo DB & its role while upgrading to ITSM 8.1-> 9.1

2017-10-11 Thread Hari Vishwakarma
Hi Abhishek,

You are correct.
Mongo DB is the back end for MyIT & SmartIT.
Its comes bundled with MyIT/SmartIT installer and it is the default
offering. If you are thinking of using some other DB similar to MongoDb,
then, implemented functionality for MyIT will not work. For more details,
you can log a case with Bmc Support for more assistance.
