Claire et al,

Sorry, I should have mentioned this sooner. The truth is that I have actually
been in fascinating breakout sessions since this morning, and this is the first
time I have slowed down a little! Let me put on my "reporter" hat.

The big news from BMC is that the next BMC "User Event" will be held the week
of October 13, 2014, at The Swan and Dolphin resort in Orlando, Florida.
Details, such as the scope and focus of the meeting, are still in the planning
stages. The announcement was made at WWRUG13 by BMC CEO Bob Beauchamp during
the opening Keynote presentation.

We probably should defer to BMC for announcements about content, audience,
themes, subject matter and all the other creative things that happen at a
conference like this, but should you hear of anything before me, please pass it
along! I'll do the same :-)

That's the big news for a year from now, and a lot will happen just this week
alone at WWRUG. And now back to this year's conference Networking session
with ample "lubrication" starts in an hour or so

Doug

Re: REMEDY ADMIN NEEDED in Colorado Springs, CO - SECRET CLEARANCE - 6 Month Contract to Hire - $80-100K (Based on experience) - Contract Rate $38-48/hr

2013-09-12 Thread Lockwood, Teresa L
Thank you Nathan! I’m sure most of us are reading these replies thinking how
crazy it is for folks to be responding about how little money this is. I’ve
been doing Remedy administration since Remedy owned the company and still don’t
make more than this job is offering. Either I’m grossly underpaid or folks
have forgotten what’s it’s like to work for a company with benefits. I’ve
never contracted as I’ve always worked for a large company but the salary for
this company seems in line with what I’ve seen. Sorry, that’s my 2 cents ;)

I’m continually amazed at the amount of people who chime in to ARSList to roast
someone who posts a job for a stationary basic Remedy position offering 6
figures as though they have somehow insulted your worth and hurt your market
value. This is a stationary position for an ADMIN role, with opportunity for
conversion. This is not a 6mth – year long CMDB architect position traveling
to Iran people. I’m sure a 3-5 year experienced person who wants a stable job
with no travel would be very interested… I know, I’ve helped interview and
hire a number of people in this range successfully over the last 5 years.

Agreed this would be light for a traveling senior contracting position for
short term, but it’s been clearly stated it’s not.

Don't normally chime in on these but
Wow, $340 - 360 USD a day is very low (UK rates start at around £350+ = $550+

2013-08-07 Thread Lockwood, Teresa L
Patrick - Here is how I tell my users to get around this. The first window I
have them open is the Approval console. Then from there they click Home which
opens a new tab and then they can open whatever they want from there (Incident,
Change, etc). Then if they get a timeout on say a Change tab they can go back
to that first Approval console tab and refresh the screen which prompts them to
log back in. Then they can go back to the Change tab and continue working
without losing anything. Note: This only applies to the tabs that they have
opened from the original Approval tab though.

Subject: Auto-logout and session expiration on the midtier

Our users are getting frustrated with the way Remedy handles session expiration
on the midtiers. If a session expires and you are in the middle of filling out
a form, you receive no preliminary warning and no indication that your session
has expired until you perform an action, which by then it is too late and you
must open a new remedy session in another window and manually copy and paste
the information from the incomplete form into a new form in order to save it
(this is BMC's advised "solution" to the problem). I have been working on a way
to notify the user that their session will be expiring but am running into
issues. I realize this is a common issue but have yet to find any useful
threads that answer my question in the forums.

So far I have been working with the existing client side status bar timer that
is running based on the timeout settings it receives from the server upon
session changes. I am showing the user a message when they have five minutes
left and have given them a prompt which, through an ajax call, will reach out
and touch the session on the server so that they can avoid the timeout, or if
they choose they can immediately end their session. I also have it actively
kicking the user off as soon as the session clock hits 00:00 and they have not
chosen to extend their session.

The issue I am facing occurs when users have remedy running in multiple browser
tabs. The client side clocks do not stay in sync and therefore the user may
choose to extend their session on one tab but the client side timer from
another tab will still expire and kick them out. I attempted to use a session
variable to universally track the amount of time left and reach out to it
incrementally to keep all the client windows in sync however, I realized that
since I am reaching out and touching the session, remedy assumes this is action
committed by the user and resets the session timer thus infinity extending the
users session.

Regardless of my attempts summarized above, has anyone had any luck finding a
method to make remedy's session expiration more user friendly? If I have missed
an active thread with a solution to this please point me in that direction
otherwise I would appreciate any solutions anyone can provide.

With the introduction of the Wiki based documentation, there really aren't any

the SRM Admin Guide here:

If you're on a later version, you can look for your information by searching

can be found here:

As I told LJ and the others in our midnight on discussion:

IF there is a really big, and by big I mean say, 10% of the list,

That sends emails or creates a really long thread about continuing it,

I might be convinced to bring it back.

But with 2.5% voting, although they usually reach the right conclusion,

It says to me that the ARSlist is a commodity now and there isn't that much
interest in

The Award.

To Clarify and somewhat repeat what I said at the conference:

There is no longer a separate session for the ARSlist Awards, it is part of an
opening session dedicated to all awards

The ARSlist carries on, and for now as "just an email list"

Doing some Awards related to the ARSlist carries on

The ARSlist MVP Award is now retired

I will be doing the 20th Anniversary of the ARSlist next year.

Twinkies and Hawaii shirts have a life of their own.

I will be throwing a wrinkle into that next year as well J

We start at 8:30 in the morning and run to at least 10pm,

Life is much much easier if you stay in the Conference hotel.

Don't forget to join the Fairmont club to get your free in-room
internet.

The conference rate for rooms ends in 4 days,

unless the hotel decides to build a new wing between now and the
conference.

(they are actually being quite generous so far in terms of allowing more
rooms on the nights that have already sold out).

BMC Remedy AR System 7.6.04: Developer - Part 2

In this course, you will learn how to build advanced application
features in BMC Remedy AR System 7.6.04. Through a combination of
lecture and lab exercises, interactive scenarios, and collaborative
discussions, you will learn how to create a deployable application,
build advanced functionality within that deployable application, and
customize it for the Web. You will also learn about several new features
such as Inline Forms, Skins, Floating Panels, Context Menu for Tables,
and Rich-text formatting in data fields. The first section of this
course consists of a review exercise that provides an opportunity for
you to demonstrate your proficiency of the knowledge and skills learned
in the BMC Remedy AR System 7.6.04: Foundation - Part 2 course.

If this course was offered in Houston, TX sometime at the end of
February or the beginning of March, would anyone be interesting in
attending? I'm trying to get one in Houston.

crontab question

2010-01-28 Thread Lockwood, Teresa L
I've created a scheduled report which is running perfectly except for
the days of the week that it is running. I want it to run 7 days a week
and my crontab -e is set up as follows: 0 1 * * 0-6. From my
understanding "0-6" is Sunday-Saturday so it should be sending the
report every day. However it seems to be consistently skipping Sunday
and Monday (0 & 1). Any idea what I could be missing? Thanks in
advance for any help.

That did it Bryan! I had checked the font size under Settings and it

been resolved by deleting the user's AR System User Preference file and
having it recreated on login. Usually, the user has adjusted some

Re: Couldn't locate the Email form - ARERR 9801

2009-04-17 Thread Lockwood, Teresa L
Thanks Janie. We got this working in the wee hours of the morning. We
had started archiving on the Email Messages form a few days ago. So
after hearing what you've said we think that after the Oracle db
password was reset Remedy was seeing those strange aliases on the Email
Messages form and was confused, because it started working as soon as we
sat the aliases to match the form name.

Do you have an archive or backup form of AR System Email Messages? Or
any other form with the word 'Email' in it, other than the AR System
forms? I've seen where the email engine identifies a different form for
Email Messages and that causes issues. This often happens after an App
restart when some type of action has occurred with the DB. I've found
that removing the 'other' form and stopping/starting ARS and Email will
fix that issue, but not sure if that's the issue your having.

Easy way:

Change the date format in the Windows client. Since AL's pull date from
the client, it gets the date format from the client, too. This has to
be set on every machine where the AL will run, though. That's OK if
you're just running a daily report or something similar from one or two
machines.

Slightly harder way:

Just do a SET FIELDS and do a DIRECT SQL and call the date in the date
format from the underlying DB. Here's how to set the date format and do
the query:

TelAlert Upgrade Questions

2007-11-02 Thread Lockwood, Teresa L
I have questions about the Telalert Product that I'm hoping to get some
feedback on. I'm looking to possibly upgrade the current 5.6 version
(as well as version 5-1 TelAlert Enterprise) to the new 6e version. I
have two questions for the list:

1. Can you provide practical differences between the two versions
as you've experienced? It's quite an expensive upgrade so am wondering
if it's worth the upgrade cost.

2. If you don't use TelAlert for Remedy notifications, what are you
using? I'd like to see those as well for review and comparison.

As always, thanks for your help.

OLE Automation to open a Word document

2007-03-16 Thread Lockwood, Teresa L
My customer needs to have a word document opened when a button is pushed
on their form. I'm trying to us OLE automation but am doing something
wrong. I want to open a pre-defined Word document and paste in the
date, name, & address information into the document from the Remedy
form. Does anyone have documentation that they would like to share
about how to do this? Remedy website KB wasn't much help. Any help is
appreciated.
