If flushing the cache on midtier helps then I would do some research and se if 
the form is using resultlist, id 1020. If so, be sure to have it in all views 
of the form. No need to be visible just have to be in every view.

We typically see this when it is a read only user, and they are trying to 
modify a record that they are not the submitter of, or the field doesn't have

Honestly yes, at least for the purpose of some data administration.. I won't 
care much if not a single feature gets added to it in another 10 years as

I'm going to vote yes and no. :-)

I've recently looked at HP Service Manager and the UI approach is very 
different. Whilst I'm no expert on building HP SM workflow (and indeed, I'm 
no expert on AR System workflow either), the UI appears to be built on 
something like Google Web Toolkit and delivered through Eclipse (exactly as 
BMC have done with the new admin tool) as well as a smarter web front end.

Both are fairly agile and whilst I prefer to do everything through a 
browser, complex UIs seem to 'feel' better through a thick client. And if a 
system can provide the same UI/workflow to both without much fuss, there 
should be little pain. HP appear to have gone through a lot of pain to eject 
a legacy framework and 'start again'.

I've taken a screenshot so you can take a look:

It's not a perfect representation of both UIs, and one is clearly more 
attractive, but they are both functional.

The challenge for BMC is they haven't written the UI in GWT so the pain of 
two UIs is going to be much greater. Hence, it does make sense to pick the 
web, but other posters (Claire, Michael) have made the point very well that 
in order to ditch a thick client, the web application must be a true 
lightweight component.

I haven't seen this exactly, but in the past when we've had Caught Exception 
errors, we deleted the person's record in the AR System User Preference form 
and it cleared up.  Hope this helps in some way...

exception errors.  version ar 7.0.1  patch 6 and Mid tier 7.1 patch 7. Hope

Users are getting Caught Exception Invalid object error while accessing

I searched in BMC knowledge base and found that the reason is Midtier
sending clientcore.js file of Mozilla instead of clientcore.js file of
Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer then will not recognize the file that
midtier sent and throws Exception error.

 

My questions are

 

1. Why midtier is not able to recognize the client browser type?

2. What is the problem if we delete clientcore.js file of Mozilla in the
midtier server?

 

Any ideas to resolve this issue is more appreciated.

Remedy 7.1 New Server installation

How to configure mirrored database server in remedy application

Hi All, 

I need all of your help in configuration of database mirroring.

1)  We have two database server (SQL Server 2005) in over organization
and they are mirrored. 
2)  But when we are testing the failover database server to connect, the
AR application is not connecting .

How to configure mirrored database server in remedy application

Hi Team, 

I need all of your help in configuration of database mirroring.

1)  We have two database server (SQL Server 2005) in over organization
and they are mirrored. 
2)  But when we are testing the failover database server to connect, the
AR application is not connecting .

Please let me know  , do I have to change the "ar.cfg" settings and
how . Is there any syntax for that.

I think that only one active outgoing mailbox can be active at any time if
the Email Server Name are the same. Which it usually are.

To fool the system, you can differentiate the configuration records with
aliases.

For example:
mail.rrr.se
mail
192.168.1.123

Or you can edit your local hosts file and add as many aliases you like.

incident count problem

Hi All , 

 

I have installed mid tier patch 008 and restart the tomcat server. When
I checked with my incident numbering they have changed. Below is the screen
shot 

 



 

Before patch installed the incident count was #17709 and after installation
of the patch the incident count is #18706 and there is a 

1000 incident difference. Please let me know is this will affect the
incident counts.

Error in RKM

 Hi All , 

  I have installed BMC Remedy Knowledge Management 7.2 in one of the
server and the Application and Database server are in different servers. 

  When I am trying to configure the RKM server I am getting the
following error below is the screen shot . Please any one can suggest what I
need to do . 

  I have followed the following steps :- 

  1 ) Open the kms_config.xml file with any standard text editor.The
kms_config.xml file is located in the following folder:\BMC Remedy Knowledge
Management\data\kms_conf

2 ) Locate the  element. It is similar to the following
statement:

3 )  Make the following changes:

.   Change the driver attribute to the following value:database
driver="com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver"

.   Change the url attribute to the following
value:url="jdbc:sqlserver://:1433"

The  element should be similar to the following
statement:

  4  ) Save the kms_config.xml file.   5  )Restart web services.

  And also I have checked with moving the following files :- 

 

1) Stop Tomcat , Move the following files to your desktop
from the .\AR System\Mid Tier\WEB-INF\lib directory ,Arapi71.jar
,Arutil71.jar ,Start Tomcat,Go back to the RKM URL and try the config wizard
again . But no use , need all your help.

Separation of DB and Application server

   Login to aradmin with administrator and in that go the  Views tab   in
that  go to  BY FORM  after going to that select  the option  " Selected
Forms "  and in the available forms :- select the form you want and add in
the selected forms  and click ok .  Now you can find only that form or
objects you want in active links , filters etc .

Well you have to flush the mid tier cache like LJ said.  Whenever I flushed
the cache it fixed the issue for me, the step I gave helped mine from
happening every day.

Whenever I have received this error I have always turned on SQL logging and
filter logging on the same log and it help me find what table it was being
pushed to when the error occurred.  Once you have the table you can
backwards engineer the log to see what is wrong with the data.

LJ is correct.  However, the unique index need not be on the People form.

 

When making modifications to a People record, key values are often pushed to
other forms.

 

On occasion there may be an "orphan" record on one or more of the forms that
this People information is pushed. (Can you save a different value for this
record?)

 

Best way to determine which forms may be getting a push is to turn on Active
Link and Filter logging. Then check for unique indexes on these forms.
