Modifying SLM action notification messages to show SVT name

2010-04-27 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hello List!

I need to include the Service Target name in the SLM notification actions.

>From what I understood, when a SVT is created also are created filters to
push notifications to the form SLM:RuleActionNotifier.

I found out that in HPD:HelpDesk the field zD_TADOccured is the field that
stores the milestone instanceID, I believe that this is the milestone that
last occured. This is what the filters use as qualification to build the
message that is pushed to SLM:RuleActionNotifier.

The question is: Is there any field that stores the last SVT that had the
milestone occurred?
I have found the following fields, but I'm not sure if they are exactly what
I'm looking for:

zD_SVTReqID
zD_SVTInstanceID

The environment is ARS 7.1, SLM 7.0.

Has anyone done this customization before and could provide some
information?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Rudolf

Re: Approval Mappings when category is different than something

2010-04-15 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Ok, so there is no way to say: This mapping should be triggered when
category different from "ABC", right?
I need to create one mapping for each of the other categories?

I understand that having 2 mappings, one for every category and one for that
specific one, with different levels, both will be triggered when I use the
single category (because it falls on the "every category" mapping).
I would still have the two approval requests in sequence, or am I missing
something?

Thanks much, Rick.

Rudolf

Approval Mappings when category is different than something

2010-04-15 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hello list,

Is there any simple way to make a person an approver if the category of a
change, for instance, is different from something?

In the Approval Mappings of Change Management I need one person (person A)
to be the approver when a change has a operational category different from
something.
I want another person (person B) to be the approver when all the other
criterias are met, but only if a specific operational category is used.

So person B approves when category = ABC, person A approvers when category
different from ABC.

Is there a simple way to do this? Or do I need to create mappings for all
the other operational categories to person A?

I don't know if I was clear explaining the issue. Thank you for any help!

Thanks,

Rudolf

Re: Date/Time Error 9376

2010-03-23 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hi Lyle,

Thank you for your response.

That is exactly what is happening, the user is not directly changing a date
value, just trying to approve a change in the Approval Central of ITSM (I'm
not sure if workflow is triggered to update a date field though).

To ensure the locale is correct I'm going to set the locale for all the
users.
For the users that still does not have an application preferences record I
believe that the system locale, present in the Configuration tab of AR
System Administration Console, would be used.

My only concern is that for new records created in the future the default
should be the system locale and not blank as I have seen, to avoid using the
client machine locale as much as possible.

Is there any place that I can specify a default locale for the Application
Preferences that will be created in the future? Or the only way would be to
set a default value for the field in the form?

Thanks again,

Rudolf

Date/Time Error 9376

2010-03-22 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hello list,

We are experience an issue with the ITSM Change Management approvals, but
which I believe is more like a ARS date/time issue.

While trying to approve a change the following error pops up to the user:

"Format of data or time value is not recognized.
.
.
Earliest Start Date (ARERR 9376)"

The user trying to approve has the locale set to blank in his Application
Preferences record.
The user that submitted the change record has no record in the Application
Preferences form.

I believe this would be an issue related to a user submitting a change using
MM/DD locale and the other user, by approving, modifying the change but
using DD/MM locale.

Would this be the case of this error?

Which would be the best way to avoid this type of issues? Should I set the
same locale to all users?
How do I set a default locale for those that does not have a application
preference record?

Thank you in advance for any assistance!!!

Rudolf

SLM Calculation regarding time segment

2010-01-11 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hi list,

We have the following problem: we need to calculate the elapsed time for a
support group work on an incident.
This calculation need to regard the time that the support group is
not working. We also created a view form that´s join the HPD:help
desk, SLM:Measurement and SLM:TeamMeasurement forms extracting the
fields for a report.

We also verified a filter (SLM:TeamMeasurement:CalculateElapsedTime) running
the function "application-Bus-Time2-Assoc-Diff" that would calculate the
elapse time regarding the respective time segment available and unavailable.
But, for all the records in the form SLM:TeamMeasurement, none has
the fields BTHolidays_tmp and BTWorkdays_tmp filled with some value, bothare
null.

This fields are parameters for the application-Bus-Time2-Assoc-Diff function
and your value came from the SLM:Measurement form (zD_BTHolidays and
zD_BTWorkdays, both null too). This way, the calculation do not run
correctly. Someone knows where these fields are filled, or we will fill them
manually? We saw a lot of documentation but we don't successed in it.

Thanks,

Rudolf

We are experiencing problems with our Mid-Tier servers. The login page

What we can see from the logs are RPC call ARERR 91 errors while trying to

The ARS server group has the "Register with Port Mapper" flag on.
I saw a post

http://www.mail-archive.com/arslist@arslist.org/msg06018.html

that could be related to this issue: from time to time mid-tier servers
would try to connect to the ARS port mapper even though the TCP port is
specified under the mid-tier ARS server configurations.
However, the versions in that are ARS and Mid-Tier version 6.3 (we are using
7.1).
Could this be the problem, since our firewall is configured to only accept
connections on the TCP port and not in the UDP 111 port?

We tested connection between the servers and everything seems ok both
ways(by ping and telnet on the TCP port, the UDP port 111 is unreachable by
the midtier servers, but we can see it's open and working in the ARS
server).
Has anyone experienced this issue or the errors above? Is there a know
solution? I couldnt find any in the knowledge base.

Our system is:

AR System 7.1 patch 1 (Windows Server 2003 SP2)
Mid Tier Version 7.1.00 Patch 003 200805260630 (Red Hat 4)
Apache Tomcat 5.5.25

DSO Question

2008-10-28 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hi List,

We have two ITSM 7 servers, each one used by different groups of users.
However, we would like that when server A is unavailable, its users will be
able to connect to server B.
This way server B would hold server A data as well as its own data. Server A
will just have server A data.
In order to do that, we thought about using DSO.

Has anyone configured DSO to synchronize ITSM 7.x servers?
I know that a lot of mapping would need to be done in order to have the
servers synched (Incident/Problem/Change/SLM/Foundation data).
Is there any detailed documentation or mappings from BMC that can be used?
I've found a white paper from BMC that describes how to configure ID
prefixes to use DSO.
However it is not detailed and a whole analysis will be required to know all
the forms/fields that need to be mapped/synched.

Is it feasible to synch Foundation data? (Remembering that IDs will be
different in both servers, since server B is also used by another group of
users).
For instance, when an incident goes from server A to backup server B, if a
field holds the support group ID, in server B the synched support group ID
might be different. Or issued like this should not happen?

Would DSO be the best approach to achieve this objective?
Has anyone implemented another solution to achieve this kind of objective?

Thanks,

Rudolf

LDAP AREA authentication

2008-07-18 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hi List,

We are facing the need to authenticate users through LDAP.

As we don't have a server running LDAP we can't make tests.
However to know if it is a possible solution to our needs, I kindly ask some
questions.
Thank you very much for any help!

1 - If more than one LDAP server is specified (AREA HUB), does this means
that ARS will try authenticating to each one until there is a successful
login or there are no more servers? Or does this means that ARS will try
authenticate with one of them and do not try the others, even if the
authentication fails?

2 - If I set, for example, Authentication Chaining Mode(under server
information) to "ARS - AREA" does this means that first the system will try
athenticating with the ARS server and then to each one of the LDAP servers
in the AREA HUB?

3 - Is there any other configuration that we might need to perform or just
configuring LDAP forms and server information?

Thank you,

Rudolf

Addional criteria in the approval mappings

2008-07-18 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hi list,
In the approval mappings (ITSM7), we would like to have an additional
product categorization tier as a criteria to determine the approver.
(We already have this additional tier in the HelpDesk form)

Does anyone know where in the workflow the approvers are assigned or how the
approval server can be configured to use a new field as a criteria?

Thanks,

Rudolf

Hi Peter,
thanks for your reply!
I didn't notice that the webservices weren't deployed at the time of

Thank you very much,

Rudolf

CMDB webservices

2008-01-31 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hi list!

I'm trying to create, set and get CMDB Instances using webservices.
Reading CMDB's Developer's Reference Guide I found the wsdl description for
these operations and the data structures used.
However, there is no definition of the namespaces used, so I can't create
the definitions wsdl tag for my wsdl files.
Is there any example wsdl file somewhere for these CMDB webservices?
Or am I missing something? I'm new to webservices...

System:
ARS Server 7.1 Patch 5
CMDB 2.1

Thanks a lot,

Rudolf

Field names

2008-01-18 Thread Rudolf Schwarzkopf
Hello,

I'm working with IM 7.0.02 Patch 4.
Frequently I'm facing fields named something like "zCol_StdGoalSchedCost",
"zTmpSchemaProperName" or even "z1D_Char02".

Somebody knows if there is a pattern BMC uses on naming these objects? What
does z1D, z2PH, z3D... means?

Thank you

Rudolf
