We are using 'Notify' action and fields used are display only. 
We keep copies of notification emails sent in a mailbox.
The copy sent has all the correct info in both header and email body.

Since email in mailbox looks ok, could it still be a problem at remedy side?

May be the EML got mixed up while sending.

Parse subject line of incoming email

Hi All,

I'm looking for a way to parse subject line of an incoming email.
Each word would be used as a specific field entry for ticket creation like 
client name, category, priority etc

What character should be used to help Remedy identify the segments (keeping in 
mind the message still needs to look professional)?
So incoming subject line would something like
Subject :   Priority --- ClientName --- Category --- Description

In this case, delimiter is used as --- 9 (dashes)
Can --- be used as a delimiter?

Atleast on 7.6 this wasn't the case. Users were not prompted to login even if 
they are not already logged in.
Issue is consistent to only few users.
Removing the user name and pwd from link prompts all users to login.

Mid tier link forcing user to login

We have a ticket notification that sends a link to remedy form/record. Some 
users are being forced to login to mid tier to view the record while others can 
simply click on the link and view it.
What could be the reason?

Below link is sent to the user in email

This maps into, for example -

We never had this issue on any of the pre-prod systems. May because we never 
had full load on any of the dev or test systems.
I did change the java heap from 512 to 1024 in armonitor.cfg but it didnt fix 
the issue.

Not sure if this heap needs to be increased in java settings or not?

Remedy 9.0.01 - CPU utilization and write license issues

Hello,

We did an upgrade from 7.6.04 to 9.0.01 two weeks back. Since then, we are 
getting CPU utilization issues.
Utilization exceeds 85%. We did some app server config changes to fix this - 
Increasing the API threads, Increasing the java heap from 512 to 1024 but 
nothing worked. Even after restarting the services, the utilization didn't went 
down. Had to reboot the vm.

Another issue, users are getting floating read license even though the floating 
licenses are available.

Please help! Its critical.

We did an upgrade from 7.6.04 to 9.0.01. One of the escalation add notes to the 
worklog on incident form and then updates a field in View table using Set 
fields.

View table field update returns an error 'java.lang. null exception'. We tried 
to duplicate the same workflow with external code like cold fusion or .net but 
could not find a way to update the worklog.

We finally replaced the view form with regular form and it worked.

Is it an issue with Remedy 9 that we can't update a field in View form using 
Set fields action?

Modify login.jsp on Unix mid tier

I am trying to edit login.jsp on 7.6 Unix mid tier but getting an error 
'Permission denied. You are not the owner'. I also tried changing the 
permissions still no luck.
Rename the file or moving a new file didnt work too.

Trying to add a 'System maintenance message' on top of the login screen.

How can I change the permission and update the file?

Hello All,

We have an active link with SET field actions – ‘Run Macro’. How can I locate 
this macro? Only the macro name is there, not full path.
This macro is working on 7.6 prod but not on 9.0.01 test environment. Is it 
located somewhere on the app server?

Only thing I know is, it deletes the selected record.

Looks like something is wrong with the mailbox configs but these are working on 
prod. I took arx backup of mailbox configs from prod and imported on remedy 9. 
The password and user account fields are intact. Not sure what went wrong 
during import.

Notification either returns an ‘Error’ with ‘Client does not have permissions 
to send as this sender' in email logs OR just sits in email messages with ‘Send 
Message->Yes’ and ‘Authentication unsuccessful’ error in email logs.

I have imported the email mailbox configuration with password field from 
current prod 7.6 to test system 9.0.1. 
I get following message in email error logs

"Authentication unsuccessful. Client does not have permissions to send as this 
sender"

If I update the mailbox configuration record and use a different mailbox/user 
name and password, that works without any issues.
Also, remedy stops sending notifications after 15-20 mins of turning ON the 
email engine. After that, emails just sits in Email Messages and I will have to 
restart the email engine to kick off these notifications.

P.S. Upgrade was successful with email engine warnings. We had to manually 
import 'AR_Email_Workflow.def' file.

Hello All,

We have a remedy 9 test environment having all the mailbox configurations 
copied from current prod 7.6.
Its a  customized environment with 10 outgoing mailboxes.
Some mailboxes are throwing error and the email just sits in the AR System 
Email Messages with status as "Send Message ->Error" 
Others are working fine and the notification goes out from remedy to the 
requester's inbox.

What could be the possible reason?
Can we have same mailbox configuration on two remedy servers at the same time?

not using any OOTB ITSM applications. The install log file had following errors

Rollback - 9.0.01 to 7.6.04

It is a customized form having summary templates. Most of the information 
including Submitter is same in both the records. The only difference is in 
Summary name or Summary detail fields.  
I created a new record with the same values and its working fine. None of the 
users are having any issues now.

Assignee and Submitter groups have Read permission (View) for those fields.
Assigned To field is never getting set even after modifying the record.

There are two records with the same submitter,and assigned to fields but only 
the summary field differs.
If it is a permission issue, why it occurs on only one record? Any idea?

I get nothing in arerror log but get following error message in esc logs if I

Remedy 9 mid tier URL

Hello All,

To access remedy 9 mid tier, we have to use the URL with port 8080 in it like 
http://:8080/arsys/shared/login.jsp.
Is there a way to remove port number from the url and access it with just the 
server name?

Remedy 9 ARERR 308 Duplicate field in the field list

Hello!

We are getting an error 308 - Duplicate field in the field list :NULL on Remedy 
9 user tool(v7.6.04). Its a customized form, no overlay, base development mode.
The error is generated by an active link that executes on MODIFY and uses a 
DIRECT SQL operation. 
Mid-tier works fine. No issues in updating the records.

Is this an issue with the user tool?

 Yes, we are planning to set up a new 9.x environment. We did setup a test
server by first copying the data to new database server and then doing an
upgrade. But it didn't copy the customizations and we had to manually do
all the changes. Not sure if this was the right approach.

When you say stand up a new 9.x environment does that means doing a fresh
installation and then copy the def files? How to setup the database server
prior to installation?
We also want the name of the server to be the same as current prod. For
this, during the installation should we bring down the current prod and do
the installation on a fresh box?

Re: Upgrade ITSM from 7.6.04 SP3 to 9.0.01

We are also planning to do an upgrade from 7.6.04 to 9.0.01. Ours is a
highly customized system. All the development is in base development mode,
no overlays and none of the ITSM modules being used.
We have a separate app and mid tier server using SQL Server.
Since the configuration of current prod is not good and its all messed up,
we are thinking of setting up a new 9.x server.
What would be our best bet? Copy data and then upgrade? Would this move all
the customizations?

Intermittent ARERR 623 - v7.6 and v9

We have a customized form to change user password. The workflow has a 'Close 
All' action once the new password is saved. This leads to error 623 - 
'Authentication Failed' for some users. Is it a known defect SW00439943 on v7.6 
and v9? Any hot fix available?
