Re: R: Integration with SMS Microsoft and CMDB - BMC: Remedy Discovery Service 7.0 for Microsoft SMS 2003? - Urgent Feedback Please

2007-09-05 Thread Kelly Deaver
To take David's comments one step further. Here are comments direct from Atrium
Integration Engine (AIE) product management -
If you bought Enterprise Integration Engine (EIE)-
*You now own AIE. They can upgrade to AIE 7.1 seamlessly.

If you bought Remedy Link for SQL or Remedy Link for Oracle -
*Remedy Link for SQL and Oracle will be withdrawn with AIE 7.1 release
*For use with CMDB integration they are entitled to AIE at no extra charge
(upgrading to latest ITSM/SIM/TD might be needed)
*No product migration is being offered for these link products
*If a purchased copy of AIE is needed (to load data into AR System Forms
directly), customers would need to purchase AIE and pay the difference.
Maintenance cost would be based on AIE's base price.

If you bought Remedy Discovery Services Adapter for SMS -
*Remedy Discovery Service for SMS is withdrawn with the release of AIE 7.1
*For use with CMDB integration they are entitled to AIE at no extra charge
*They can use SMS2CMDB Open Source Integration available at developer.bmc.com
*If a purchased copy of AIE is needed (to load data into AR System Forms
directly), customers would need to purchase AIE and pay the difference.
Maintenance cost would be based on AIE's base price.

Now, my comment - The 7.0 versions of Remedy Link for Oracle, Remedy Link for
SQL and Remedy Discovery Service for SMS will work on AR System 7.1 so those of
you working outside of the bounds of CMDB who will eventually need to pay the
difference do not have to do it right now. You can build it in to your budget.
Discuss with your sales person.

Note that the RLO/RLS/EIE/AIE that is included with CMDB is licensed for use
only with CMDB. These products may only be used to populate BMC Atrium CMDB
with data from other BMC products or external data sources. They may not be
used to populate data into the AR System forms directly.

So it's not completely free - it's zero dollar cost when used as part of a
solution with CMDB, AR System, and one other purchased BMC application.
Customers using these products for integration to AR System without the use
of CMDB must purchase (or pay maintenance on) the products.

Thanks Chris. I have been trying for over a year to get BMC to tell me that
information. I have had several conference calls with them and have been
waiting on a Statement of Direction for the Remedy Link for SMS product. I
am still waiting. Such a shame that BMC could not answer this question about
 their product.

Is it just me or does BMC seem to have no clue about their products. Why is
it that most of my difficult questions are answered here. Is BMC going to
make an announcement to their customers who paid for and are still paying for

My understanding is that if you have a license for the CMDB, either within
one of the ITSM 7 applications or independently, the Enterprise Integration
Engine was freely licensed with either the Remedy Link for SQL Server or
Oracle. That said, in ARS 7.1 and CMDB 2.1.0 these products (EIE, RLS, RLO)
are renamed to the BMC Atrium Integration Engine 7.1.00 and include both of

Hi can you please confirm that the CMDB 2.0 provides a free Remedy Link for SQL
license. I have been trying for 18 months to get our Remedy Link for SMS
licenses switched to Remedy Link for SQL. BMC has been giving me a temp 30 day

Also what is RLO? Remedy Link for Oracle?

Hi,
We try to do this integration but we fail because the mapping file with
the CMDB 2.0 are not available. Using the Remedy link for SQL Server
product and the SMS2CMDB v1.6 integration Sw we made a easy integration.
The real problem is related to the Sw License, because we need to buy a

In addition to the no charge Remedy Link for SQL license, you can also download
the open source integration between SMS and CMDB located at -
http://developer.bmc.com/jiveProd/entry.jspa?externalID=463 . This will provide
you with the mappings and other goodness you will need to do the integration.

R: Integration with SMS Microsoft and CMDB - BMC: Remedy Discovery Service 7.0 for Microsoft SMS 2003? - Urgent Feedback Please

2007-08-31 Thread gcorgnati
Hi,

We try to do this integration but we fail because the mapping file with the
CMDB 2.0 are not available. Using the Remedy link for SQL Server product and
the SMS2CMDB v1.6 integration Sw we made a easy integration.

The real problem is related to the Sw License, because we need to buy a new
License for the Remedy Link for SQL product !.

Regards

Giancarlo Corgnati

If you own CMDB 2.0 you are entitled to both a RLS and RLO license.
Contact support/licensing.
