Re: Migration from Serviceware to RKM
Thanks for the reply Chris. We are on version 5 of SW so maybe there is hope for being able to use the export feature? I have been caught up in implementing the BMC Identity Management product so I haven't really had a chance to get the RKM conversion started (still haven't even seen the SW product yet). Yeah, it seems like a nice little trick to keep customers. That or it just isn't too important to develop tools that help customers migrate to another application? A few people have mentioned that professional services can created scripts to do the migration but it appears to be a very costly endeavor. I guess that is one way to keep your customers from jumping ship or at least make them think twice. You would think that BMC/KMX would provide some utility to make the switch easier, which would be a good incentive. Re: Migration from Serviceware to RKM
Well, we didn't move from Serviceware to RKM but we did go from Knowlix to RKM. The BMC/KMXperts team can develop scripts for you to move data. Somewhat pricey. We ended up copying and pasting (and reviewing and editing at the same time) about 5000 documents. -tony -- Tony Worthington [EMAIL PROTECTED] 262-703-5911 Jason Miller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: "Action Request System discussion list(ARSList)" 02/07/2007 05:34 PM Please respond to arslist@ARSLIST.ORG To arslist@ARSLIST.ORG cc Subject Migration from Serviceware to RKM ** Has anybody done a migration from Serviceware to Remedy Knowledge Management? I have been tasked with transitioning the data that has been entered and maintained in SW to RKM. I have never used Serviceware so I do not know any of the tools or of its architecture. Are there any tools for exporting the data or is it possible to export directly from the database (not sure what DBMS it is using) and import into RKM?
