Hi All - We are wondering how people are categorizing Microsoft Products in
their Product Tiers? Specific applications: Word, Excel, Lync, SCCM, Remote
Desktop,  PowerPoint

I am being asked to build them as Application / Microsoft / Word / Word /
Microsoft (Tier 1 / Tier 2 / Tier 3 / Product Name / Mfg) and we don't believe
that Mfg should be the Tier 2.

Thanks

any info on how to normalize the data?

Any tips or recommendations?

I think one of the many missing pieces of the puzzle is how to take your
custom Product Catalog and merge the data BMC is now providing (again).
Since they are including a few more products in each PC release their PC
data may/should start to take the place the PC data your team had to create
out of necessity when there wasn't any.

I am looking to follow BMC's lead regarding PC data where possible since it
also relates to ADDM is consistent product categorization using industry
standard categories for software based on IDC Software Taxonomy. Ideally a
large percentage of enterprise products will be supplied and maintained by
BMC and we would only have to fill in the gaps with our industry specific
and homegrown apps. But how is this done? I don't want to blindly run the
PC installer against our PC data.

Another nice nice topic to have some info on: what is the best way to keep

We were trying to normalized the data yet, however we do not have our

If we normalize the data later after it reaches the gold set, what are the
drawbacks?

Also - is there any documentation /videos out there to help you build the

We are just installing our Product Catalog.

Hi Kathy,

The new PC content is compatible with following CMDB versions - 7.6.03 P1,
7.6.04, 7.6.04 SP1 and 7.6.04 SP2. For each version there is a 'pre-requisite'
patch that must be applied before installing PC content update.

I'll try to simplify the process below,

* Scenario 1 - Customers consuming new PC data for the first time,

o Based on current CMDB version, apply patch that is available on EPD
directly under 'BMC Atrium Product Catalog Data 7.6.xx' sub-tree

* Just to be clear, only one patch is applicable for your environment based on
CMDB version (whether 7.6.03 P1 or 7.6.04 or 7.6.04 SP1 or 7.6.04 SP2)

*  E.g. if you are on 7.6.04 SP2, you need only 'BMC Atrium Core 7.6.04 SP2 -
Product Catalog Data Prerequisite Patch 1'

o Next, apply Product catalog update 2012-Apr-1

* You don't need to install 2012-Jan-1 update now since content updates are
cumulative i.e. July release will contain everything in January and April plus
new entries

* Scenario 2 - Customers who have already consumed 2012-Jan-1 PC Update

o Simply apply Product catalog update 2012-April-1

* In future - 7.6.04 SP3 or 8.0 versions, no patch will be necessary
since all the code changes will be included in the respective version. User
need to simply install the latest PC content update.

Detailed instructions on applying the pre-requisite patch are available in the
Technical Bulletin from the EPD area.

Hi,

I installed AR System 7.6.4 Windows and would like to install the product
catalog and all the updates.
I went to the EPD website to download the files needed.
I found the following files:
/ prerequisite patch 1

o Next, apply Product catalog update 2012-Apr-1
You don’t need to install 2012-Jan-1 update now since content updates are
cumulative i.e. July release will contain everything in January and April plus
new entries

Huh? I’m confused. Why apply the April patch if there’s a July patch available?

Hi Kathy,

The new PC content is compatible with following CMDB versions - 7.6.03 P1,
7.6.04, 7.6.04 SP1 and 7.6.04 SP2. For each version there is a ‘pre-requisite’
patch that must be applied before installing PC content update.

I’ll try to simplify the process below,

· Scenario 1 - Customers consuming new PC data for the first time,

o Based on current CMDB version, apply patch that is available on EPD
directly under ‘BMC Atrium Product Catalog Data 7.6.xx’ sub-tree

§ Just to be clear, only one patch is applicable for your environment based on
CMDB version (whether 7.6.03 P1 or 7.6.04 or 7.6.04 SP1 or 7.6.04 SP2)

§  E.g. if you are on 7.6.04 SP2, you need only ‘BMC Atrium Core 7.6.04 SP2 -
Product Catalog Data Prerequisite Patch 1’

o Next, apply Product catalog update 2012-Apr-1

§ You don’t need to install 2012-Jan-1 update now since content updates are
cumulative i.e. July release will contain everything in January and April plus
new entries

· Scenario 2 - Customers who have already consumed 2012-Jan-1 PC Update

o Simply apply Product catalog update 2012-April-1

· In future - 7.6.04 SP3 or 8.0 versions, no patch will be necessary
since all the code changes will be included in the respective version. User
need to simply install the latest PC content update.

Detailed instructions on applying the pre-requisite patch are available in the
Technical Bulletin from the EPD area.

Instructions related to Atrium Product Catalog Data Updates are available

Re: Product Catalog Data importing and relating to Company

2008-04-03 Thread Saravanan Palaniappan

Hi All,

Related to the Product Company Association I have an issue. By following
the second option I have imported the data.

It seems that the Product categorizations are not populating as
expected.

The Reason I found out was
SHR:SHR:UpdateGroupList-CompanyReinitialize-G_565 which is shared
workflow has got the RUN IF qualification as

( 'z1D Action' =  UPDATEGROUPLIST ) AND (NOT (( 'Company' =  - Global
- ) AND (($SCHEMA$ =  CFG:Broadcast ) OR ($SCHEMA$ =
CFG:ProductCompanyAssociation ) OR ($SCHEMA$ =  CFG:Service Catalog
Assoc ) OR ($SCHEMA$ =  CHG:CFG Calendar Qualification ) OR ($SCHEMA$
=  CFG:GenericCompanyModuleAssoc ) OR ($SCHEMA$ =  CFG:Decision Tree
) OR ($SCHEMA$ =  CFG:Decision Tree-Branch ) OR ($SCHEMA$ =
SLM:CFG-SurveyTemplate

But if you look closely there is no form called
CFG:ProductCompanyAssociation . So I have changed it to
PCT:.ProductCompanyAssociation.

My Problem is since I have not changed this Run if qualification before
my import these work flow have fired in MERGE and Made the Assignee
group field to NULL

What will be the best option to put this Assignee Group to yes in the
already existing record? I have tried deleting the records and try to
import it again. This doesn't help as the server crashes during the
delete activity.

Please advise a way forward ..

You haven't mentioned your app version, but I assume it is ITSM 7.

Here are two options:

1. If all your Product Categories will be associated with a single
company.

* Import the same source file into the
PCT-ProductCompanyAssoc form, mapping only the following fields:

*   Product Categorization Tier 1
*   Product Categorization Tier 2
*   Product Categorization Tier 3
*   CI Type
* Company (Map with a static value representing
your single company name)
* Status (Map with a static value of Enabled if
this value does not exist in your source file)

2. If your Product Categories will be associated with multiple
companies.

a. Use your original source file (Spreadsheet), and add a
Company column.
b. Populate the new company column with the appropriate
values.
c. Import the modified source file into the
PCT-ProductCompanyAssoc form, mapping only the following fields:

* Product Categorization Tier 1

* Product Categorization Tier 2

* Product Categorization Tier 3

* CI Type

* Company

* Status (Map with a static value of Enabled if this value does
not exist in your source file)

Note: If all of your Product Categorization was to be associated with
ALL of your companies, you could have simply set the Map to Global
field to Yes on your original import, which would have automatically
created global associations.

 I just imported product catalog data to the PCT:Product Catalog form.

 Now the only way I see to get this associated to the company is to
 manually associate them through the Product Catalog setup form.
 But that means I'll have to do this for 400 entries.

 Is there an easier way to import this data with the company already
 associated to it?

 I'm sure there can be workflow created, but I'm looking for something
 I don't have to spend weeks trying to figure out.

If I remember right there's a filter on the PCT:Product Catalog form
that
associates the record to the global company.
Set the filter to fire on merge and all will be ok.

Why not create a computed group containing all of the support groups, and
grant your managers access to that one group? That would take care of the
255 char issue, wouldn't it?
