Re: Remedy Developer needed in Denver,CO.
That statute is for discriminating based on the country you come from, not your legal status in the US. So for instance, if a company said they will not hire anyone from China regardless of their immigration status, that is illegal. But considering some companies that exclusively do government contracting require secret clearance, which I have never heard of a resident alien getting, US Citizenship is mandatory. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Sent: Mon, 7 May 2007 4:06 PM Subject: Re: Remedy Developer needed in Denver,CO. ** Nachi, You may want to double-check that. Re: Remedy Developer needed in Denver,CO.
I don't think that's what the Civil Rights Act of 1964 means. That is, it doesn't protect the rights of non-citizens to work in this country. I believe what it means is, if you're originally, say, from Ireland but are now a US Citizen, a potential employer can't say, "I'm not hiring you because you came from Ireland. I hate Ireland." Now if you're from Ireland and not a US citizen, an employer is perfectly free to say, "Get lost. We don't hire non-citizens." It had crossed my mind but I resisted the temptation to call you on it! I was hoping it was in my little 6,000 person town and I'd only have a 5 minute drive to work, but alas the reality set in. So many email addresses and alias email addresses it's hard to figure it out from that. Good luck in the search, sounds like a nice job. And I have to say, Northern Virginia is beautiful !
