Re: Voting option when sending mails

You have to double-click the email to bring it up in the individual viewer
(which uses the Word HTML engine to display the message). It is then in the
ribbon bar.

Sashi,

Yes, it can be done. I use that here with html email forms. When the user
clicks a button it submits their entry to a web app, which in turn updates
Remedy.

One thing to watch out for is the default button. If a user views the email
then presses Enter one of the buttons will be clicked. We did not want that
here, so I added two radio buttons for Approved and Rejected. No default is
selected so the user has to click one of the options, then click the Submit
button.

Code was added to check when the user did not make a selection (pressed Enter
by mistake). When this occurs the Submit action is ignored. When the user
does make a selection the submit action is allowed to continue and post their
selection to a web page.

Note: Outlook 2007 no longer allows html email forms to function. With OL 2007
the user has to click Other Actions > View in Browser in order to interact with
an html form email.

Re: Voting option when sending mails

2006-12-19 Thread Rocky Rockwell
We do surveys here by sending the customer with a url that has the
survey entry ID. This url basically goes to a redirect page that
reformats the url with the survey ID and logs them into mid-tier as a
guest user. The gust user is the owner of the ticket and we the
submitter fields locked. This gets around the users not wanting to
login. The fields on the survey have permissions set to submitter so
only the fields with this permission get modified. This guest user can
only do a certain number of very strict things. So the only abuse is if
the customer give the email to someone else.

Re: Voting option when sending mails

2006-12-19 Thread Lammey, Peter A.
This option would come in handy in regards to Surveys.
Ive heard from my process owner indicating that he believes more people
will send a survey on their ticket if they could simply reply for the
survey on the email itself as opposed to going to the Mid Tier, login
with their credentials, and filling out the fields with their feedback.
This way its simple and easy for the user to provide their feedback and
you dont have to worry about authenticating the user into Remedy in a
secure way.

I think that is the main motivation for setting up voting buttons on a
Outlook email sent from Remedy.
