Thanks for the laugh, Gary! You know, you're young enough to have been my son, yet you're mature beyond your years! You work and do business in the city. No, you're not a resident, but who cares? You genuinely want what's best for the Pearl of the Jersey Shore. I respect and honor you for the hard work that you're always trying to do. You never toot your horn in your favor, yet, you render a valuable service. I just get an occasional kick, from immature people that sometimes inhabit this group. It's Lent, so I'll do a novena. [AsburyPark] Vinyl Siding in AP
Johnnie, I saw your recent post to the AP listserve and I am writing to encourage you to reconsider your use of vinyl siding on your home. Vinyl siding is arguably one of the most destructive materials ever introduced into our biosphere. If you are interested in learning more about this, I offer the following websites: http://www.myhouseisyourhouse.org/ www.bluevinyl.org http://www.bluevinyl.org/ The film, Blue Vinyl, was produced and directed by a friend of mine. It is a really entertaining film and delivers quite an education on the vinyl siding industry. If you would like, I have a VHS copy and could loan it to you. Also, the campaign website that accompanies the film, My House is Your House, is really informative and it offers a range of healthy building alternatives to vinyl. I hope this information is helpful. Peace, JWK Councilman James W. Keady 1 Municipal Plaza Asbury Park, NJ 07712 TEL: 732.502.5196 EM: [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.cityofasburypark.com
[AsburyPark] Last Night's Zoning Board Hearing
Last night, the Asbury Park zoning board convened to reconsider the variances issued to the Market Street Mission to open a homeless shelter, a soup kitchen, a used car sales operation etc. on their Memorial Ave. site between Sewall and Asbury Aves. Stand Up For Asbury feels that the hearing went EXTREMELY well. The board will meet again next month to hear additional testimony. One of the most important points that came up at last night's hearing was the fact that The Market Street Mission in Morristown is NOT licensed by the State of New Jersey to treat drug and alcohol addiction. This was NEVER disclosed to our zoning board during the initial variance hearings in 2006 and 2007. During cross examination David Scott, the director of the shelter, said that State Law did not necessarily apply to his evangelical organization. Apparently the State of New Jersey Feels feels otherwise. The Market Street Mission was issued a temporary CO to operate their shelter and soup kitchen and opened its doors a few weeks ago. By not waiting until these hearings were concluded, the Mission showed total contempt for our city and for our zoning board. By disregarding warnings not to open the shelter or even improve their property before these hearings, the Mission also showed total contempt for the Freehold Superior Court Judge. Even more alarming, the Market Street Mission showed contempt for state mandated safety standards. After an inspection of the shelter by local fire officials last Tuesday, the shelter was shut down for not having a fire sprinkler system in its second floor sleeping area. Stand Up For Asbury would like to know how the Asbury Park Code Enforcement Department could issue a temporary CO to this controversial shelter when it CLEARLY did not comply with minimum safety standards. Stand Up For Asbury would also like to know why Councilman Jim Keady attended last night's zoning board meeting. Since the beginning, councilman Keady has voiced support for the Market Street Mission. The councilman vociferously opposed the city's amicus brief on our behalf. The councilman attempted to discredit Stand Up For Asbury on many occasions as we scrambled to put together facts and information supporting our last minute appeal. Out of respect for the board's autonomy the city attorney has advised ALL the councilmen not to attend zoning board hearings. Councilman Keady opposes the council majority on many issues important to this community. This is his right. However, Stand Up For Asbury feels he has no place at these hearings. His support for the mission and his opposition to Stand Up For Asbury is already clear to all. We are still waiting for confirmation of the date of the next zoning board hearing. Keady has every right as a citizen to attend that or any zoning board meeting. Quite frankly, you do not clearly explain Keady's position on the Mission. I'll let him do it. I will continue to support SUFA both financially and in spirit, but I think our time is better spent focused on the issues and matters that will prevent the Mission from opening here and not a campaign against Keady. If you don't want Keady telling you what to do, I suggest that you do likewise. Keep up the good work. Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ~-- Yahoo! Groups gets a make over. [AsburyPark] Re: Vinyl Siding in AP
Yeah, but isn't the additional cost worth protecting our environment? --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, Allan Peterson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: While I personally do not perfer vinyl siding (I used the cement fiber board on my house), I can tell you that many of these options bring additional costs. - Original Message From: James Keady [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, February 23, 2007 12:35:07 PM Subject: [AsburyPark] Vinyl Siding in AP Johnnie, I saw your recent post to the AP listserve and I am writing to encourage you to reconsider your use of vinyl siding on your home. Vinyl siding is arguably one of the most destructive materials ever introduced into our biosphere. If you are interested in learning more about this, I offer the following websites: http://www.myhousei syourhouse. org/ www.bluevinyl. org The film, Blue Vinyl, was produced and directed by a friend of mine. Well said Dan. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, dfsavgny [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, paulvail1964 vailpj@ wrote: Stand Up For Asbury would like to know how the Asbury Park Code Enforcement Department could issue a temporary CO to this controversial shelter when it CLEARLY did not comply with minimum safety standards. I want to know why it got a CO when it apparently does not comly to zoning? Paul, as you may be aware, I am a supporter of Standy Up For Asbury, both financially and in spirit. I make no bones about my fondness and respect for Jim Keady, nor do I duck my disagreement with him on the issue of the Mission. We will agree to disagree. Keady has every right as a citizen to attend that or any zoning board meeting. Quite frankly, you do not clearly explain Keady's position on the Mission. I'll let him do it.
