Land WITH approvals is worth a ton more then land without approvals.
That's another whole way of investing - buy land or groups of
properties and getting the approvals and selling off the project -
without ever banging a nail. It's all political, legal and engineering
costs to get the approval.

They developed a lenghthy story line around President Bartlett's MS

decisions and behaviors. Why? Because they are so outlandish. I have
known several people who have MS and I would not make fun of them
because of their sickness. However I recognize they are ill. My
question is, is Jimmy Bruno's decision making compromissed? It is a

[AsburyPark] What the hell happened to this message board?

2007-03-10 Thread Hinge
Seems like a few of us here chose to use this forum as a place to vent their
personal feelings,
and carry out attacks. I really don't think it serves our community well. Last
week, a person
interested in Asbury came on board, and this is what he's been exposed to.
I think the personal attacks should be done elseware, via email...anywhere but
here.
Let's all get back to talking about Asbury Park.

Amen. There are no need for character assassinations here. Certainly
not about someone illness, and I am not saying that rook did not
bring it up genuinely at first. Let's just leave it alone.

And Tommy, I luv ya baby, but stop with the crying about personal
attacks. I don't want to rehash history, but you have done much worse
to a prominent politician than Mario has done to you (which I still
see as confronting you on the facts). I have not asked once for
anyone to come to my rescue when my buddy (I'm afraid to mention his

Those are personal attacks. It's water on a duck's ass. Stiff upper

come back. Be a big boy.

[AsburyPark] Jimmy Bruno

2007-03-10 Thread Debbie DeLisa

I am not only angry, but embarassed that someone on our group sitewould be so heartless and pathetic that they would have to mock a medical disability. I also had a physical disability when I was young and not only is the physical handicap very hard to deal with but also the insults and humiliation you suffer from ignorant human beings.

I was lucky enough that through surgery, radiation, therapy andGod's help I was able to leave my wheelchair. Unfortunately, Jimmy will probably never be able to leave his. Instead of mocking him why don't you say a prayer for all those who will never be able to overcome a handicap.

I may be mistaken, but I am unsure if rook was making fun of Jimmy's
illness. I'll have to look back. It may have been in bad taste at the
very least to suggest that any behavior by him to which some object is
due to his unfortunate illness. Let's take a big step back for a moment

[AsburyPark] Property Owner in Brooklyn ahead of the game

2007-03-10 Thread jerseykev

 (http://www.zwire.com/site/tab7.cfm?brd=2384) 03/10/2007 Ratner
suffers setback in Supreme Court - Judge rules in favor of local property
owner
By Stephen Witt
As this paper went to press, the New York State Supreme Court ruled in favor
of property owner Henry Weinstein in a dispute over several of his
properties in the footprint of the Atlantic Yard project.

Judge Justice Ira B. Harkavy ruled that Weinstein’s long-term tenants, real
estate developer Shaya Boymelgreen, improperly assigned their lease to
Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC) for the properties at 752-766 Pacific
Street
and 535 Carlton Avenue.

The decision permits Weinstein to regain full control of his properties.

In court filings, Weinstein said that FCRC never made him a firm offer for
his properties, and that FCRC implied that if he did not sell, the Empire
State Development Corporation would take the property through eminent domain.

Weinstein is also one of the plaintiffs in a lawsuit to stop the use of
eminent domain to proceed with the $4 billion project.

“I’ve always believed in the rule of law,” Weinstein said following the
decision.

“I’m pleased that the truth prevailed today, and I am confident that my
co-plaintiffs and I will win our challenge to Ratner’s unconstitutional use of
the power of eminent domain,” he added.

Boymelgreen could not be reached for comment at press time.

FCRC attorney Jeffrey Braun said the company cannot comment in detail on the
decision because the suit did not directly involve the company he
represents.

“FCRC purchased the leases for the property in question from another
developer. That developer of course believed he had the right to sell those
leases
under his contract with the landlord, as is often the case with leases such
as these held for extended periods of time,” said Braun.

“The developer has advised us that he will appeal the decision. Finally, we
do not believe that this decision will have any impact of the project and are
continuing with the preparatory work begun last week,” he added.

[AsburyPark] Re: What the hell happened to this message board?

2007-03-10 Thread dapawprint
Hinge, I support that sentiment.

All of you may have noticed that I had not been posting in this group
since my faux pas a while back. Denise decided to label me a bigoted
sob and my feelings have been hurt.

I am sorry, Denise. You have not personally met me; if you had, you
would know that I made an unfortunate mistake with my errant post and
that I am a very diverse person who wouldn't intentionally hurt
anything.

Just a final comment to my errant post: I do, actually have a pet
duck; that in itself is a bit humorous. The pet duck group which I
belong to is very light-hearted and the message that I errantly
posted here was supposed to have been sent from my duck to a duck in
Washignton State who brags about all the wimmen (not a mis-spelling
in the context) in his life.

I had just started using (the then new) Internet Explorer 7 with
tabbed browsing and I simply got my tabs mixed up. I realized my
error quickly and I posted an explanation almost immediately.

As a result, I was called a bigoted sob. I was also accused of
having been drunk.

All that being said, I will apologize one last time. I am sorry that
I made a mistake. I have learned from it.

I hope that I will not get flack for THIS post as I joined this group
because I DO believe in Asbury Park and it is one of my favorite
places to visit.

Like the person who posted regarding about moving to A.P., I have
also considered moving. I am in support of all of you in Asbury Park
and continually ask myself what I can do to to make things better for
everyone. (If you have suggestions, please share.)

Best wishes to all of you. I support Hinge's suggestion that the
group stay on topic and attempt to refrain from the belittlement of
others.

I realize that my errant post was received as an insult in this forum
and I have apologized and promise that I have learned.

who knows. read what you want, deleate what you dont. it seems to work fine.
the online world is not perfect. the board was better years ago though, when
things didnt go so far off topic. i think it has to do with certain people
that now post on the list. if you dont answer them... or reply comments back
to them.. things will be all right. you know the type of comments im talking
about, the ones YOU KNOW will inspire them to say more stupid things. why say
it, if you know the outcome?!!? so you can complain about them later? after
you inspired it! maybe your the problem! ha. (not directed to anyone, just
