Exactly. Why pick on them? THEY took a risk - MM and Style.

 I'm just waiting for a 50 or 70% sale.

They have a cool bathing suit I've been eyeing.

Yes, they took a big risk. Give them credit for that. Not
everything is going to be for everyone. If you don't like it, don't go
there! I just hope there are other types of boadwalk establishments
that are more boardwalk in feeling and style. I don't want to see
everything with the same high pried clothing store atmosphere. That
doesn't create the boardwalk magic of last night. Not at all. The
magic was brought on by the concert. Without it, the crowds would not
be.

How about a J.Crew Beachwear - I thought that was one of the first stores that
was mentioned.? I know it is 'mainstream', but...

I've seen alot of people going into Style Rocket, but I don't see many coming
out with
purchases. Sure, some people can afford $100 tee shirts. But high end retail on
our
boardwalk isn't really the best use of the space, especially on nights when the
boardwalk
is packed with families and people attending musical events. Let's not even
talk about the
economy.
By the way, Boscov's in Monmouth Mall is going out of business and having a
huge sale.
Clothes at up to 75% off. Sounds good to me.

Your ability to spend that much on clothes does not justify pricing
out the majority of visitors to the boardwalk. Its not just Rocket
thats the problem - its the entire business model being put forth on
 a beachfront/boardwalk environment.

Furniture/expensive clothes... they wont cut it on the boardwalk.
I've walked by Bodega and never see anyone leaving the store with
anything... right next door though, at Candyteria, there always seems
to be someone walking out with probably $15-20 worth of candy.

The restaurants in CH arcade seem to be doing very well. People like
cheesesteaks and clams and sodas and beers. People expect a
boardwalk when they come to the boardwalk. My favorite question here
is, Where is the video arcade? Kids love video games. My parents
always gave me $5 to go play games for an hour at Jenks when I was a
kid. It gave me something to do, and gave them a chance to enjoy a
few beers while I played. Although $5 now would probably only get a
kid 2 plays in a machine.

The boardwalk wont make it as a lifestyle center. For people who
need trendy clothes, they can go to the Grove at Shrewsbury for
that. Its right up the road just like Marshall's.

On a positive note regarding family entertainment the waterpark
seems to be coming along nicely. With the waterpark and mini golf,
there are now two permanent family attractions on the boardwalk.
Hopefully the success of the two will only promise more of the same
to come.

I think it's more of an observation then picking on
I happen to like their store, but my own personal feeling is that high end
retail isn't the
best tenent for the boardwalk. I'd like to believe that people don't come to
the boardwalk
to spend big bucks on clothing. To me, it's really more about a day in the sun,
the beach
and people watching, not to mention the music events that really brought the
people in
this past weekend.

That's true.  Next year things will be different i'm sure.  Also, since
the goal was to have a year round beach front, There should be things open all
fall and winter on the boardwalk...
A bar/restaurant is planned where the previous Cabana Club was.  It looks
neat how the back of the bar seems to face the window.
