Difficult to hit a moving target. The congregation point is Emory
Deli. Same owners operate several similar businesses in AP that also
have similar problems. We are trying to do something about. What you
can do to help is go to police station and file a complaint. Many
already have.

Emory is really close to the new buildings. Will make the units harder to
sell. I bet something will be done. The drugs don't benifit the residents but
if the units are sold, that will help. Lets hope somebody reads this and takes
action. After all you would not want a prespective byuer or visitor to read
this and then be turned away.

if u see it, dan sees it and knows where...maybe they have or should
have undercover buy/bust ops. Week after week - buy and bust. One
weekend of arrests won't do it. As soon as they get sent in, more are
coming out or starting up. Bust the buyers as well, take their cars,
their bikes, their homes. Do away with pre-trial intervention (PTI) as
well. That's more like trying to lock up lindsey lohan or paris. Let
htme get treatment while in jail, not in AP.

I totally agree, and as I have in the past, i'll continue calling the
police when I see suspicious things...but honestly, I really don't
understand why obvious things like the drug dealers on their bikes
need us citizens to point it out to them. The other day, there were 3
AP cops hanging out at the boardwalk doing absolutely nothing but
having a good time, and 2 blocks away the same blonde prostitute that
has been doing business in my neighborhood for over a year now was
working, and 2 more blocks after that we have guys making obvious drug
deals. Something is very wrong with that in my opinion.

I've heard the discussion in our city many times about how building
new condos and bringing in new business's will help drive out the bad
guys and make the problem magically disappear.
So far, I see no evidence of that happening, and I really don't think
that the problem is going to magically disappear.
All one needs to do is look at Atlantic City as an example.
Their problems just got worse.
If Asbury really wants to improve their PR profile, and huge and
visible crackdown on street crime should really be taking place...not
just here and there, but daily.

Were they specials on the BW? I won't comment on them having a good
time, but if they are assigned to the BW, assuming they are doing
their job there, what can they do about the hooker or drug dealers
blocks away. There are only so many sets of eyes and hands. We are
just going to have to deal with it. It is much better than it was and
it will continue to get better. But there will always be crime and
criminals. Think of the surge in Bagdad. It's is like those bw games
where you hit the weasel in the hole. it is only when everyone refuse
to allow the conditions for the hookers and drug dealers to exist that
it can be eradicated.

I don't want to fault the AP police either because I do realize they
have a tough job here...but one has to laugh when you see cops hanging
out at the boardwalk and ignoring the bike regulations while 2 blocks
away there are no cops and a stinky AP prostitute cleaning her armpits
on the corner of 1st and Kingsley while waving down prospective clients.

Police are busting them and building their case. Would I like more?
yes, but I cannot fault the APPD. They are doing a yeoman's job. It
takes time. There are now two shifts of street crime units. Everyone,
including residents need to do their part. There are private citizens,
who I will not name, that have made a tremendous difference to the
quality of life here by their vigilance. Never turn your head. Have
 the APPD on speed dial.

Sometimes the public see things that are wrong, obvious things. It makes
you wonder why, or how police can't see this? There are lots of things police
are kept busy with, so its understandable sometimes. But when you see things
right out in the open, and there are police ridding by... why arn't they
picking up on the same things the public are?
