@SebbyNot necessarily if the steganography tool is opensource and well audited.But there is no need to rely on the built in encryption provided by the steganography tool.Just encrypt the plaintext message once with PGP, and use the steganography tool to hide the PGP encrypted message.It all depends on your threat model. If your adversary is the government, I would not count on any steganography.In the UK, you can go to jail for refusing to hand over your encryption key, so steganography may be useful.

They are still entrenched in the completely invasive idea that graphics are not important. My brother tried playing Swamp, but again was put off considerably by your beautiful Gimp drawings! Also, he found it much too easy to see the little green blobs walking at him and didn't have any problem in killing zombies.I also have another friend who is completely unrelated to my brother who is really into audio games and he hosted the accessibility game jam that was posted a little while back (22 games were submitted to that!!!)His philosophy is that there is no reason why a game should only be strong in one input medium and not t

You are sighted, so do you already understand the algorithms behind graphic rendering?Also, what could one do with a sighted-accessible game? I'm sure one could create all kinds of hype about it and there would be a lot of people, if nothing else, signing up to see what it is all about.But would you agree that most mainstream games use primitive audio? I was listening to some mortal combat split screens and it could be the recordings, but they really sounded like pure frontal positioning. How much better would it be as a sighted player if a graphical game had even Swamp's quality of audio?We have really good graphical games and really good audio games, why can't we have one with both?   frankly, what developer, audio or otherwise, is better equipped to tackle this challenge than you?

So if you press/swipe right you will always go east!- Listen to the different sounds of the ground and pay attention to sound changes. If you hear you’re bumping into a wall... you are probably going the wrong way!- Counting your steps is the key to create a mental map of the area, so that you can move safely without the risk of getting lost, or worse…- When you have to rescue someone, you will hear a heartening music: follow the voice of the prisoner and free him up!- You hear a menacing music? RUN! Someone is after you. And remember: if you’ll end up hearing the heartbeat of your enemy, then you’re getting in real trouble! - If the challenge is too easy, try the endless mode: sooner or later it will become REALLY difficult.- If the challenge is too hard, no biggie: you can try to restart the current map (returning to the menu) and closely inspect all edges.- You can share your current score by pressing Q or swipe down with two finger in the main menu.- The game is divided into maps, each one having a specific objective. Hello, not to interupt the conversations between TheOnlyPKMNMaster and the terminator, but did anyone have AAC walkthroughs from the interlude boss onwards until you beat Rusty? All the AAC walkthroughs are either from the start of tutorial until all basic stages are complete, or if it is a AAC windows walkthrough, its always until the inner fortress's unjumpable barrier. Anyone can help? Thanks!

@nin, blind swordsman also now has a db page  you can find the download links for mac and pc there along with a link to  how to install on mac. @Roro, You need to begin blocking when you hear the flail man start to swing, not too early when he charges, then  as Quasar said, two blocks and  you can strike. This is one nice aspect of the game, each enemy requires a slightly different approach, for example the first man (I always think of him as the sarcastic swordman), it's quite possible to just chop down before he  swings, while some others you need to focus more on defense and waiting for a correct opening.

Is  there an ap I could use on my Iphone? or do I just need to use the google translate website. I'm not as keen on net browsing on the Iphone, which is one reason I'd prefer an ap for this if possible, particularly sinse it's something I just want to be able to do on the fly, for example today I went to an Italian Cafe to practice my Italian and couldn't remember the word for  peppers! (I rather kicked myself when I found out what it was).Last I used google translate you only got  textual translation, though that was a while ago and obviously just on the website.

@Roro, as I said when he swings.  He will charge in saying "hear comes the pain" or similar, then his footsteps will stop infront of you and you'll hear his battlecry as he winds  back to swing, this is when you need to block.With some enemies you can hear a drawing weaponsound, (it's certainly there with the first man), but some you  just need to judge. Bare in mind the  window of opportunity to block is pretty short, and you need to be fairly exact, one reason why the game  is challenging, though I found it okay once I got the  knack.

Hi.Hmm, I think you may be able to update that macbook to Lion.You will have to buy it off the apple online store and you get some kind of code.Alternatively, you could just buy a DVD of Snow Leopard and reinstall that.Personally, I love SnowLeopard simply because it was the first version of OS X that I used and was the last version to have a really good sounding Alex.OH well.So yeah, I think your choices are update to Lion or reinstall Snow Leopard.If you go the Lion option, you will be able to install some of the vocalizer voices.I think they're automotive but you will have access to them for free.

@gellman: Indeed, you want to use cryptography, because otherwise you're essentially relying on the obscurity of an algorithm, which is, after all, available for all to review. You've only got to look at CAPTCHA to see how well this sort of thing actually works in the real world. I think plausible deniability is a really neat idea (especially on this dank little island) but as long as there's a threat that it will be revealed the single best thing you can do is not to even attempt it. Keep all your secrets in your head, or at the very least make references to them that only you will understand. Just IMO.

Mmm, Dark, it sounds a lot like I'd have to actually observe you to see where the problem was, but it does sound to me like you're just not on the same plane as the authors for whatever reason. I certainly think there's a challenging mindset to go with a lot of early IF which emphasised much more direct player involvement than story-based IF, and perhaps especially with Infocom, and this may very well be a mark against IF as a genre, but I'm convinced that the mechanics are completely consistent and within the grasp of players who choose to indulge them. Babel definitely sounds more "Serious" to me (I've never played it), and it may just be that you prefer serious IF because you hate the distraction of puzzles, much as some claim to hate the distraction of text input. But I still can't understand how that's possible. How can you, when confronted with an amusing challenge to your faculties, reject the opportunity to discover the answer, 
 whether by fair means or foul? It seems impossible to me.

hi@sean-terry01that is a good suggestion. when we make the option woodcutting available we can program in a key to make a chop at a tree. every type of tree needs a amount of chops before it is cut down.i have to think about how i want this to be, before i'll start programming this option.i am currently working on a patch. this will include a better sign to read in dalgrim and at the locations the game owns right now will contain good (at least for us) descriptions for what you see.but this can slow down a bit cause this weekend i am with my girlfriend.greetz mike

I've beaten the game in 180 degrees mode today. I have to admit that the game mechanics are not the usual ones.. the only fight that was really a challenge was the final one but I will not spoil anything. good luck with the game.

@Kenzon, it's possible that the programme data is arrayed in such a way that no zip utility would be able to recognise it, even if you changed it to multiple zip formats. Also, I have seen individual sound files that have no file extensions, or a few that have encoded wave digital steganography that can only be read by the game and if you knew what perametres they used, oucould use Gold Wave to decode the file.

There is rp, but it is completely optional and doesn't hamper your experience in any way. You do get rewarded in game for roleplaying though with tokens which you can either sell on auction or save for prizes. I could never get into advent truth, since in my experience you really need to rp to advance in that game at all.

Well i'm not sure on  translating the game mechanics to multiplayer, in it's current state, sinse at the moment you'd basically be playing a long game of chicken, seeing who blocked first. Unless some extra  attacks, or variations in strike time or weaponry were added, not to mention the ability to live through more than one hit and strike at different ranges. I will confess I'm more a single player bod anyway, so would be highly interested in seeing the game expanded in it's current single player form. @Nin, good going on finishing the game. I must admit that  horseman is still something of a pest  with his huge number of attacks to block. @Roro, I would guess your not attacking quickly enough after you block if the army are  giving you so much trouble. Generally what I found is that with the generic thugs and dagger men in the army you could pretty much block then instantly attack, sinse the army men weren�
 39;t half as fast or defensive as the dagger sisters, actually   I found the army rather easy especially compared to the archers. This is another reason I'd be interested to see more weapons and fighting styles in the game.

@Dark in multiplayer, you'd move around, others would hear your sound steps, and there would be a mechanic to get a super move by taunting the others, giving your position up for to increase your super gauge.  So it would be like a game of blind tagsorta haha But the blind game I actually wanna do is a mech battle game using the mech's instruments, radar, sonar, etc to navigate and battle

When you hit the bottom of the brick, the item appears on the top.However, there are other bricks to the left and right.You must find open space, so you can jump on top of the bricks.In this case, go to the left until there is nothing above you, jump until you are above the bricks (hold the jump button for maybe a second or so?), then move to the right.

I'm using Portaudio for the moment.  It doesn't matter what I use, though: the audio output is completely separate from the mixer and, in fact, you could write your own if you were so inclined.  The audio output code lives in a corner by itself.  I will need to talk to it directly in future, but Portaudio works well enough for testing.  There are unfortunately some latency issues I've not yet tried to fix, so I may have to drop it.But tbh, that code is the simplest code in the entire thing.  Libaudioverse is somewhere around 2500 lines at this point, and the portaudio code is somewhere around 85 of them.  Ripping it out and replacing it with the stereotypical multi-backend decider that a lot of people use (that is it looks at what's available and automatically picks the "best" library for your platform) is going to be the the work of a day, and it can fall back to Portaudio until I write better backends.  All t
 hese do is provide a way to send samples to the sound card so it doesn't matter what you pick-there's no particular advantage in terms of DSP, only in lower latency.Also, I think our definitions of easy are different.  Most audio APIs that provide for only sample output are easy: learning to use one and integrating it with something else takes something like 2 or 3 hours tops for me, especially since the mixer does not "know" about the audio API.  I consider nothing about them difficult.  There are much harder programming problems for Libaudioverse; actually writing audio backends isn't one of them.

Okay, I have bought the game on Ios now and am giving it a try. interesting idea for a game.  However I do have a couple of questions.  Firstly, the controls. they do not seem to work as advertised in the description. Pressing at the sides of the   screen (at least around the middle), does indeed move  east and west, however  pressing top and bottom doesn't move north and sound and I don't seem to be able to interact with things at all, indeed I mostly just seem to  walk into things like prisoners, and doors. For moving it seems  single finger swipes in the four directions are the best way of control. This is absolutely fine, but was a little confusing. I also (when trying to experiment with the controls), accidently went back to the menu and had to start a new game. I believe it was a three finger swipe that did this. Like the  Inquisitor adventure game,  some sort of in game help on the controls might be usefull to have, particularly on Ios which obviously doesn't have specific keys like escape. Lastly,Is this game actually starring Nicholas Eymerich?  it The voice for Eymerich was on the menu, but the chap in the game wandering aroundb  the dungeons sounds like a different actor,  (and indeed a much less  unpleasant character than Eymerich). Either this is a different person, or old Nick has mellowed out quite a lot  .

Installing Windows 8.1

I remember there being a topic on this, but I couldn't find it in the first 8 pages or with the search feature, and I'm running on an old laptop battery at the moment, so new topic it is:I was playing Bokurano Daibouken 3, and therefore hitting the spacebar quite often, when Windows decided it was a good time to ask me if I wanted to update to 8.1. Being a meany, whoever designed that prompt set it up so that you default on the "install and update without asking for confirmation" button.So my computer restarted and is no longer talking to me and I have no idea what to do.Does anyone know what to do? Like, does a prompt of some sort come up? Is it taking me to the windows logon screen and NVDA is simply not talking? Do I have to do anything fancy? Am I completely screwed without sighted help (in which case I have some choice words for Microsoft, since I never actually agreed to this)? Something else entirely? Is there an available resource tha

@Dark No, I'm not having problems with the armey, they only take many strikes, they block many of my attacks. Not all of them, only one ennemy, somehow similar to the one on level 2 but more difficult: I mean its sound is the same: The one who say: Take that, you'll die, etc. But level 7 is easy, just kill and kill and kill: I don't block anyone: just killing and killing, because they're from another type of ennemies. But in level 8, they're mixed.

Well maybe the lack of blocking is the reason your spending  more time on them. I found myself the army all went down if I just blocked their first hit then immediately attacked afterewards, accepts for the  flail man who you have to block two hits from.

Libaudioverse currently has Sine.  I haven't added the others yet, but can do so in like half an hour: they are useless for testing purposes, so I didn't bother.  the code from the Sine wave works for all of them, I just ahve to point it at a table representing the other shapes.  More useful to your current problem, though, is that Libaudioverse can pitch bend files in the way just described.  You could create your audio progress bars by just looping and pitch bending a file, which gives much more interesting sounds.I give no ETA on a release.  It will be ready when it's ready.  I'm not going to rush it: rushing leads to sub-par code.  I'm building a library for games, but also a  research platform: a lot of Libaudioverse's code is based around being able to add new effects easily.  Examples of such include Waveguide synthesis (it's sufficient to say that it makes string-like and piano-like sound
 s), various reverb algorithms that are good at different things, volumetric sources (giving a source a size instead of just a position), etc.  I'm getting very close to something I can show off, though YMMV on how good the examples make it look without tutorials.  It's traditional enough in terms of how audio libraries tend to work, but not traditional with how Audiogames.net teaches new blind game programmers BGT audio libraries aught to work.  But that's okay-in its current form, it's 10x more powerful than the standard solutions in this community and 2 or 3 times more powerful than what most sighted games use, and I'm only just beginning.

Try windows-enter or if that doesn't work windows-u after waiting a while, and narrator should come up. If I recall it will just ask a few basic questions since you're only upgrading as opposed to doing a clean install, and then it should be fine. Otherwise if narrator doesn't come up try hitting shift 5 times and see if that makes a sound, if it doesn't you may have to use a USB headset.

Yep, this is for all smugglers fans. the part of the background stories dlc has just been released today from Niels bauer. The title of the dlc is "background stories" so what does this mean? What it means is now as well as choosing a  faction, and a profession, you also have to choose a background story. You can choose none and play the classic option, but this first volume has added several more. Trying to get into the mysterious smugglers guild, trying to find the lost treasure of a legendary pirate called Solomon, or track down a particularly nasty pirate captain who murdered your family and kidnapped your sister. This basically adds new missions and encounters to the game involved with completing your story, effectively giving you an rpg like quest mechanic, in addition to trying to win the civil war or become   emperor. The Bakcground stories dlc is in two parts, the first volum, entitled "the smugglers guild" works with both Invasion and Secession, the second (which is going to come out later), is for invasion  only. I don't know  any extra ships or whatever were added as I've not started on these yet, but I'm looking forward  to finding out. I must admit when i ordered the dlc's  I was expecting something more like the  old s3 addon, ie, some more ships and equipment added to  the game, not effectively going full on rpg on us!  I'll let people know more as I try more of the pack, but I  say this makes the smugglers 5 set,  Secession and Invasion  even more than the best in the series imho.

Hey aaron, I liked the soundpack.Even if I don't understand very well spoken english the soundpack wasgood.Something I noticed is that some sounds where recorded in a low volume(not sure if this word is correct).

Thanks; it was slow and cumbersome and did weird things with the audio volume, but it eventually worked.My soundcard was doing weird things when it first loaded (echoes and such), but it sounds fixed now, so I hope that's an actual fix and not a patch I just did.
