Adil, I don't see why you continuously insist on hearing same answers overly if you were already answered.The game stands and devided into twin two parts, one is the client side, and the other is, server side, that all online games use without any doubt involved. So you can't really just do: /please_create_a_map_with_the_sounds_that_I_need_in_mind_without_Sam_uploads_themOh, map initiated. If it was ever true, maps can be created without sounds loaded in memory using the client side, we would all be happy, and just not need to download an update. Nope, you can't give time to the time.I, myself, am ready to  download STW even if it was 10 GB. Not because I can, but because I like it. Just as simple as that. No it is not getting worst and worst, it's getting better and better, but not because Sam said added new sounds means you will hear them all at once when you log in to the game. PyAL is a separate library using OpenAL and has no direct connection to Pyglet, even if they can be used together. Pyglet itself also has its own bindings for OpenAL, but also has bindings for DirectSound and PulseAudio, but dosen't have any advanced audio features like EFX, HRTF, or 3D positional audio implemented. I do however have some scripts available that adds these features for Pyglets OpenAL bindings.[Pyglets Directsound] features only support up to DirectX 7, the reason I suspect is because MS dropped support for DirectSound and its advanced audio features starting with Vista in favor of their proprietary XAudio2 library.

my thoughts on this.masonian, sam and whoever else according to them was involved in the whole UP sourcecode creation, ought to probably sit down, and decide on its status once and for all.masonian seems to be rather confused jumping from one stance to another,giving permission only to retract it later and so on.As for DM, it seems such a waste to let all of that go down the drain just because the developers didn't think to credit the UP developers or take permission. So perhaps masonian along with his co-developers could grant it permission to use UP's code and allow it back on the forums again.Because after all its not your run of the mil UP clone,at least from what I have read of it, so far. Seems unlikely though, what with DM beeing a likely prospect to give STW compitition and last I heard STW was following some sort of Freemium.grryf

American Printing House has a Talking Typer game.with it's Hurry Scurry choice,it is  a game that pits you against Merlin the Magician in a race to type characters. Merlin tells you which letters or phrases to type, and you type them before they fall off the screen.The letters move from left to right and down the screen.

Even though libraries like Libaudioverse and OpenAL are capable of 3D audio, you don't necessarily have to use them for 3D audio. Those libraries themselves are also exclusively used for audio output, other things like keyboard inputs, graphics, etc. would require separate libraries. Pygames already been mentioned, but there's also [Pyglet] which can handle inputs, along with basic and advanced graphics and audio.

LOL, your last sentence is the very same as my point, STW-admins should really put in a warning-note somewhere in the game, that "using SAPI-voice may cause lags and speed-hack alerts, and I consider missing to do so for a severe omission, causing serious headache and troubles to (mostly) innocent players"How else is one supposed, or expected to realize, or discover that solution?Just observe my example: I had to start a forum-thread regarding the matter here, gathered dozens of further complaints of people sharing that same problem, then after a week of hopeless and futile discussion over 3 pages, an STW-admin finally appears, revealing the true reason of the whole issue,  instead of just noting it somewhere inside the game, in its manual, or at least in its "readme" file!I ask You, does it have to function this way???(sorry for stating this so straight-and-open, but that's the kind of person I am in my real life, like it or
  not)As for my own case with SAPI, it's no wonder I haven't noticed its lagging by now, since my mother-tongue is hungarian, along with my Windows operative-system, I am generally using the hungarian language setting in NVDA, (it recognizes english, and changes to it when reading anyway), and since SAPI features only english language in it, I select it only while playing audio-based games, with the sole aim to improve their feeling of realism.

you could make a space invaders type of spelling game where ships came down and you had to spell a word, like hard words like agoraphobia and stuff like that, and each ship would be shot down if you typed the word correctly. Wrong guesses would cost you points, and you would have to fix the error, like if you tried to spell chair like C, H, A, R, E, well a sound would play when you put R instead of I, and you would then need to type the correct letter, all this time the ship is falling, if it lands, you lose a life., the goal is to win each round by shooting down all the ships in that round.

You might want to look at pygame. Allthough not the most advanced library, it can do things like basic graphics, keyboard presses, joysticks and sounds. Not anything fancy in the sound area, just pan, pitch and volume I beleave.

Playing sounds in Python

Hello guys.I know that libadiverse is a good library for sounds in Python. What if I don't want to create 3D audio in what I'm making. What if I want to load a click for menu sounds, or something of that nature? What if I want to load a sound for a player jumping and landing, obeying the rules of a timer? Can that library mentioned above do this in Python? What would be the right approach for making accessible games in Python? What are some good libraries that could help those of accessible_output2 and that sound library I mentioned above? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Well if you need voices or testers I could probably help with testing at least.Sounds interesting, I have 2 bopit sets the xt and standard, sadly these are the only sets sold in new zealand bar the beats and the tetriss.Bopit exists in audio format in a simple form, but for the rest well.As for payment if it comes to that, then we can certainly discuss terms if it comes to it.saying this, this really should be in general or dev but its ok here I guess.

This is the problem with Sam's games that I have, and I have deleted both STW and Rs from my system because these types of things never get resolved, basically mediocrity flourishes. He is talented, there is no question of that, but puts forth a minimal effort once the game is out. Yes there are updates, yes there are fixes, but some long standing issues don't get corrected.

Well, you would need some testers eventually.I'd be happy to be one and maybe some promoters I do do the odd bit of work for sonnar, and I could also do with more projects.But you would need this 3d like, so you would need someone that could do c++ or something not bgt, not visual basic, and you would need graphics and such if you wanted to make it accessible to everyone.Its a large undertaking, I am not a programmer but if I was I would take the challenge.

Hi.Well sonnar has not officially released it but then I havn't checked with sonnar for a few weeks on progress of things.The last official news post from them says that game centre support for apple was being put in though originally google play wavers were allowed by apple though it took some time to get them.But as I said I havn't poled sonnar management for some time well ever since I got back on status of various things.Though sonnar has shown that they don't need me for major release news, if they need to they will do it themselves.However, I do need to touch base on public and private matters on such things as the new hub on the cards, the transition from the free version which has been the original version released to the new comercial model which is still up in the air but which has been hinted at earlier on, to what exactly is going on.However with them doing the release news themselves this time round there is no need f
 or me to rush into seeing what they are doing immediately.My plan is to wait either till may or june or if nothing has happened to wait till august some time because during august and september a lot of the family will be away so I should have some time to work.Life depending.Right now, I am doing off and on work with rockywaters, who are close to a release well an upgrade of one of their old games.I am trying to get more work to, but things are slow.Actually my main thrust gaming wise has been to try to complete eurofly this month, I have 8 more really hard tasks to battle through then, I can save my profile and just be done with the game entirely.

Hi Fred,It's a bonus area which you can unlock after completing a sidequest.You know the galactic dust that the guy who blocks you talks about? well, there's one hidden near every save point in the game.They don't make noise to tell you where they are, so you'll have to strategicly walk around every save point and try to pick them up.There are a couple of areas in the game that you can only visit once, so you'll have to make sure you don't forget to search for dusts.By the time you reach the end of the game, if you've collected all of the galactic dust you'll be allowed in to that area. Without spoiling it entirely, suffice it to say that it contains a bonus mini-dungeon, a difficult bonus boss and some nice rewards.

The lag you are describing is an issue inherent with SAPI, though I think some voices do it more than others, but I've never found a very responsive SAPI voice. Even the SAPI Eloquence I tried wasn't as responsive as screen reader drivers, though it was certainly better than the default Windows voices. SO in short there's nothing you can do about it.Why a speedhack would be triggered by SAPI being used in the game alone is beyond me. From my limited understanding of BGT, all it does is send text to SAPI. I didn't think this would cause issues, unless it's stalling and waiting for a return of some sort, which it very well could be. I agree with Ethin that this needs removed if not seriously revised/reconsidered. It would be fine if the speedhack alerts were triggered by actual speedhacs and cheating attempts, but it's been proven that they are not. No innocent person wants to configure their pcs to avoid speedhack detection which they would never
  set off deliberately. Such speedhack detection is likely only needed to deal with a handful of people who would try to cheat, and it should be affecting them, and only them.Yes, people may make a habit of setting things to realtime priority, using a high performance power plan, using their screen reader as speech output for everything, etc. If those optimizations are actually needed to make the game run without maxing allocated system resources, that is one thing.  But if a preventative measure such as speedhack detection was built on that configuration and basically needs it to work reliably, that is quite another. These sorts of preventative measures need to be tested under numerous reasonable (not assumed) configurations to ensure they actually do their job effectively. That kind of testing makes any aspect of a program more stable and is a big part of what distinguishes stable software from buggy software. I'm not saying that STW hasn't been tested well eno
 ugh, but I frankly find the current state of this situation borderline unacceptable. Now that we know the speedhack detection is giving innocent players problems, I think it is, at the very least, imperative that a section in the manual be written to advise these players if nothing else. It wouldn't hurt.

It does not model how the four forces (lift, thrust, drag and gravity) act on an aircraft, it only models thrust in a static form (i.e. thrust is a constant regardless of your altitude, air density, or the aircraft's attitude), gravity is not modeled on the aircraft at all, and nor is drag.The engine model in Eurofly is very, very basic. Thanx for reminding me to this solution Maryana, I just changed to SAPI in the NVDA-settings while writing this post, and it is lagging quite badly by typing, meaning it spells the typed characters too slow!(this was happening in the STW-game too, but I assumed it to be a game-related issue)So it would definitely cause speed-hack alerts in the STW-game again! (if I would try it out that is)Strangely, it reads written text quite fast, I even had to decrease its speed a bit, but is so sluggish while typing...so the problem is obviously related to my SAPI settings in NVDA, just that I have no idea in which way???So the summary of my SAPI-related problem:Reading text is fast, but lags while typing, any ideas why???

How Do I Build the Emacspeak Sources Nowadays?

Hi,I am trying to build the Emacspeak software from source, since the Arch User Repository's version is bloody old (version 42). But, I've hit a barrier that I don't understand at all. I downloaded the version 45 tarball, untar it, and change to it. Then, I run make configure and make emacspeak. It tells me to check installation of the speech server, so I change into the linux-espeak directory. I do the make and sudo make install song and dance, then I change back to the top level. I run sudo make install and man, do I get problems. I get something to the effect of it not being able to build linux-outloud, which I don't even think works anymore. What can I do? How do I finish the build successfuly so I can update the PKGBUILD?Hunter

@Connor sorry mate, but the "flight sims" ... what the fuck ... they aren't any good, what so ever. Furthermore, it's going to be well ... cargo and passangers mainly. Remember, I said realism here. A scaled down version of fsx with more audible queues and stuff.@ethin what we don't know I guess the internet knows. I'm sure we could get a physisist too since one of the guys in the team knows a lawyer, and I personally know a couple of pilots. I also have prier experience in programming so I know what the programmer has to do and what part he solves vs what the designers do.The only reason I am not personally working on the Project from the programming aspect is because I lost a fuck tun of work once and totally lost the interest after that.

@Sam_Tupy, we determined that it is neither the computer, the computer's hardware, nor the power plan that was the issue. We also determined that it was SAPI, so real time priority won't work. I also have determined, through this thread and others, that this speed hack detection should be entirely removed.

two questions here. First, you say we don't have good flight sims, yet we have tdv and zero sight on the combat side of things, and eurofly on the airline simulation side of things. While eurofly isn't that realistic and doesn't have top noch sounds, its still a good flight sim in my opinion, so I think that claim is a bit overstated. Second, are you attempting to make a combat flight sim, or is it going to be transporting pasangers like in eurofly?

greetings fellow developers and programmers, this post is directed to the programmers mostly.As some of you know, back in the Eurofly topic under the new releases room I said well let's build our own flight sim then. I've got a team together with sound engineers and airplane-knowhows, but we still require a programmer.It's a very ambitious project and I think there's a huge demand for a good flight simulator. Flying is something I believe a lot of blind people have done, at least I did as a kid to get my operations. Sadly though, it's not  something we can do.We have every kind of game out there, aside from a good flight simulator.we need a programmer to help us develop a prototype, and if it reaches our expectations and the programmer is willing to go further we will kickstart the project to get money for sounds, voice actors and licenses. We're hoping to sell the final product and split it up amongst us or use it for f
 uture projects, this is not clear yet.    We require an experienced programmer, or at least someone who has had a few successful games under his belt and maybe want to step it up a challenge. This is a flight sim, not a game of black jack.We're not sure about the programming language yet but we need a language that can support a relatively decent MAP API, in my personal view the accuracy of the map isn't super important, it's first and foremost the mecanics and interface.To anyone who's wondering what we want to accomplish with the flight sim, here are a few things:1. realistic airplane physics. Not down to the very core of course, mostly because new things about aerodynamics is being discovered constantly, but to the level to which a beginner pilot has knowledge about, winds, throttle, rudders, elevators, hydraulics, etc.2. real checklists with real procedures, that actually change the behaviour of the airplane an

Well  great game so far! couple of quick points 1. will there be music in the game? second, if it would help i could add headings to the manual to make for easier reading as an html file if would help and in level 1, where do i go? spoileri go to the ladder across the pits after climbing it, the rope seems to not make a difference, i jump over the snakes who just stand there? very odd, anyway, i pick up the potions but now where? it's like the level has come to a dead end! loving it though great job just need work out why i seem to be stuck.

I picked up the game last weekend and have now just started playing since I had time after school yesterday. Is it possible to defeat the snakes or do I just jump them? I'm on the part in level 2 with a fire pit that you can't jump. You climb down a later and arrive on a part of the temple where there is a skeleton, then after using a sword to kill it there is a fire pit to the left. Also what are the chips for? It seems like you can use them because they're in the inventory, but nothing happens when I press enter on them. This game makes me think of Montezoomas Revenge and Mysteries of the Ancients, just in a different way. Now I'm thinking how far will this game go? Hmm. Looks like it's going to finally be complete, but we never know.

One thing which is impressing me, is the fact that the developer is very welling investigate bugs and issues with things like quests. when I pointed out the problem with the girl in the forest, she (the developer not the girl), immnediately went to look in to the situation.I actually get the feeling that in 4d beta testing of areas is possibly not as complete before they go live, so it's up to players to report bugs and issues such as misdirection which builders might have missed, however in credit to the 4d staff once these are pointed out they get fixed in short order, and as I said there is definitely a good game in there  though mostly due to all the none combat stuff.

@SLJ, I know, that was exactly what I ment. If someone likes a SAPI voice and wants to use it though, they can still just use it with NVDA, instead of using SAPI directly with STW. Solves boath the speedhack and the voice issue.

introduction to our problems

Hi. We are Test Mode Insiders. We work with electronic games like bop it, simon, and brain warp. We would like to start moving our ideas from the drawingboard to audio. In other words, create audio games that have electronic game based elements. We won't go in to these descriptive and confusing ideas, but our root of our problem is none of us have coding esxperience in the engine we would like to code with. If you are or know a good python coder that would be willing to negotiate with us and creating these simple and or also complicated games, please reply to the post and we can talk about our plans and payment. So didn't read everything here, but let me state that I DO NOT encourage, support, or otherwise give anyone the idea of formatting there system to fix a speedhack alert. I don't know who came up with that, but it doesn't help. This, however, is a simple solution that may help. There are 2 actually. 1. Try opening task manager when stw is running. Go down to the stw.exe process and press the context menu key (applications or shift+f10) and go down to change priority. In that menu click real time. 2. Open control panel and go to power options. Find the list ware you can select a power plan. It gets a bit tricky here at least with NVDA, but basically see if you can manage to select high performance. Click show additional plans if you don't see it. It will make your computer work better in general. HOWEVER, if it uses battery power a lot, it will use more battery power rather than conserving it with the result of lower performance. I will read the wrest of this top
 ic at some point haha, just past it and read the first couple of posts for now. Hope that helps though, and please know that I never once said, or indirectly said, that formatting the hard drive for my game or installing windows for my game was something I even kind of supported. Those are other peoples words, not mine.

ya know what? I'm just fed up and tyred of filling out the same form over and over and over again, and nothing happens. I've tried to create an account way too many times, check that all fields are correct, verify my information but, I get redirected to the registration form again after submission. Plus, I check my email and get no information on anythigng.Its sad because I guess that's the only resource we have for audio described moovies, but that little problem is getting on my nervs

Very good discussion I'm seeing here guys. And Jayde, to answer your question, the game is fixed. I plan, if time permits, to add difficulty levels. They will include things like shorter vanishing platform times, quicker electricity barriers, shorter times to drown, more damage enemies can do, etc.
