Hi.I'm one of those people who don't have much time for gaming. Sometimes I like the choice of reading some spoilers to make any progress, and at other times, I just wanna explore and try things on my own.I got quite frustrated about the mountain climb quest because I have searched the whole mountain a lot of times, but didn't found what I was looking for. Then I just needed to know if it was possible that an other player could take my item or not, since I accepted the quest a few days before I searched the whole mountain. I wasn't asking for any hints. I got told this is possible that an other player can take a quest item. So before I gave up, I decided to search for the last time, and suddenly, beep, and the item spawned nearby me.I really like the quests so far, but I have the feeling that sometimes, the quest items don't spawn as they should, or you get stuck because the item can be taken by an other player.

I keep failing to memorize the (n^2-n)/2 thing and keep having to rederive it (maybe this time it will stick?). Now you're telling me to integrate a probability curve . Jase, titan 1 draws 3 cards each time, so after 52 plays he will have no cards left.You are correct... they don't have to win all those wins in a row.  Just a total.

Great. Now I have to math. Thanks aprone. LOL!!! Okay, the titan 2 has the easiest solution. A simple sample space will tell us that titan's odds of winning once. Now, to be clear, titan 1 has 156 cards, but as it draws, the number of cards will go down until 52 cards have been drawn, then the titan will be back to 156? I also take it that the titan doesn't necessarily need to win the game 100 times in a row?

nope, it is really quite simple, a fact that no one seems to be able to understand. some people enjoy doing stuff on their own, others do not. end of story. in stw, in swamp, manamon, rtr, on any game, or in life. I am one of those people. i played lots of main stream games, never used cheats, never looked up walk throughs, the old tomb raiders, the old Grand theft autos, the dues ex games. lol this is not about STw for me t all, it is just the difference between 2 types of people. did i ever say don't tell others spoilers, don't tell them hints. nope. and i was also simply saying, if you want to do something on your own you can, it is quicker and easier not to yes, but anyone can do it on their own as well. you can read into sub text all you want but what i say is what i say, not what you infer from rading it. and again, seeing as it is impossible to get a point across here. this is not me as an admin of any game, just a player of games. I don't like others help, i

2 Titans floating in space

Two ancient immortal beings float together in the vast emptiness of space... unable to die, and looking for ways to pass the time.  The first titan is the titan of cards.  He has in his possession 3 decks of traditional playing cards (52 cards in each).  The second titan is the titan of dice, and he has in his possession a regular 6-sided die and a less common 4-sided die.  The 2 decide to battle one another, each using their preferred items.To keep things interesting, each titan comes up with complicated rules to decide who will win each time they play against each other.It is decided that the first titan will mix all 3 decks together and shuffle them.  3 cards will be drawn.  Each card is given a value depending on what it is, where cards 2 through 10 are worth that many points, jack is worth 11, queens are 12, kings are 13, and aces can be either 1 or 11, depending on what the titan chooses at the time.  For the titan to win, 2 o
 f the 3 drawn cards need to add up to be equal to the value of the last card.  The order the cards were picked in does not matter, it only matters that 2 of the cards add up to be equal to the remaining card.For example, the titan wins if he were to draw a Queen of hearts, 3 of clubs, and a 9 of diamonds.  The 3 and 9 add up to 12, which is the value of the queen.The second titan must roll both dice.  If either dice is a 1, the titan loses the round instantly.  If that doesn't happen and both dice are equal to each other, the titan wins.For example, the titan wins if he rolls 2 and 2, but does not win if he rolls 1 and 1.Once the titans agree on these rules, they plan to both take turns playing, adding up how many times each of them "wins".  The first titan will draw 3 cards and see if he won, then the second titan will roll his dice and see if he won.  They will repeat this over and over until someone has won 
 a million times!  Take note that every 52 turns titan 1 will have to stop and reshuffle his cards.The first titan to win 1 million times will be declared the ultimate winner, and will be in charge of controlling the radio for the next hundred years as they float through space.  Which titan will win?

Hi, I m working with BGT, and I ran into a problem I can't seem to figure out. How do you use BGT to get a key stroke rather than just one key, and perform an action. exactly, assault wrote it perfectly.Assault_freak is great at fighting games, he even played mainstream games in japanese. i helped him several times in games, by giving him tips or menu options that i obtained from sighted people. so, if i helped him, i must think i'm a better player or gamer tan him?.oh, but wait, he also helped me several times, giving hints or options or commands... or whatever oh my goodness, who is better now?i've completed a mainstream rpg several weeks ago, odin sphere leifthrasir is the game's name. as far as i know, nobody else finished it here. so, i'm the star of that game?. and i'm making a guide for it.i'll say it for the last time.helping other player never was, and never will be, a bad thing to do. it's greater imo. you help someone, and that person completes a quest or mission or unlocks that something, thanks to the tips i gave to him/her... that! is pure satisfaction. l
 ets use stw for example. you tell someone to jump in certain part of the map to reach another area. it will be the other player who needs to do the jump, not you. so, in the end, he also will need to practice to do the long jump... your reasoning is out of context.what really intrigues me, is this only the stw comunity (or admins) seems to complain all the time about people helping each other with quests in the long (or short) run, that part of the comunity will be considered unfriendly and arrogant.

Before I do that, have some more audioSome menu noises, I spawn into a game, then someone else spawns and walks and jumps around a bit and shoots.I submitted a bug to Chromium for some problems with the webaudio API implementation in Chrome, so hoping that gets resolved soon. I got a response really fast, so that's cool!

Lol aprone, you could put the   duct tape on before the casing cracks to make you feel more at home . for me the  strangeness factor  doesn't last as long, but I s probably more serious, indeed that is one reason  I've not been around much  since while my lady doesn't mind me hijacking her laptop, there is so much   I find odd in this machine that I cannot get used to or change. Eg,  I don't have fmy favourites, I have to constantly  speed up the voice to something I'm comfortable with, I can't put desktop icons as I like which let me do things like use the forum while receiving email or playing a game (I obviously don't have my mail account on this one at all), etc. i'll have the same thing with the new machine (indeed my fingers are getting new keyboard  stretch
  right now), however at least the more of the operating system and software I can configure, the less time it'll take me to get used to the hardware. this also feels really wrong, since usually a laptop has lasted me six or seven years, and my xp machine is fine, it just has xp on it at the moment and ram wise I'm better to get a new one than  try a new copy of windows. Ah well, such is the fun of technology.

I don't know. On the one hand it is true the offtopic room is very popular and we have had people  wanting to post articles on none gaming related matters, especially where software is concerned. On the other hand we are after all a games site and  there are places like cool  blind tech which exist for those sorts of things, and there is nothing stopping anyone posting a topic to an article hosted elsewhere in the offtopic room, and other gaming related  sites don't have none gaming or none site specific articles. So in this case I really am not sure.One other concern I will confess to, is I wonder on the quality of articles, since while we're quite able to say what should and should not be a gaming article, on life style or other tech type articles I'm less certain, particularly since we have a lot of younger members who possibly don't have  a necessarily  article standard writing style as yet and
 bsp; I could see some major arguments happening if say moderators moved an article from offtopic articles and it's author disagreed, particularly if the articles in question were heavily opinionated. I'm not absolutely against the idea, but if it does happen the requirements would have to be   put together quite  carefully I think.

While this is a rather fun idea in and of itself, I would suggest if Richard and Sander are looking at making changes there are a few things higher on the priority list, for example search by platform or an ability for user reviews or ratings. So, certainly not a bad idea at all, though imho there are possibly more major things to be added first, and besides, you can always use Gma dice or your favourite other dice roller to generate a number between one and 603 or however many games we're up to currently .

So if anyone remembers the games from gamesfortheblind.com, 10 games that all used the Eloquence speech synthesizer, these games are no longer available for purchase. And they haven't been, for years. Neither has his domain. It moved to gamesforblind.com in 2011, but even that site went down. And unlike Bavisoft, no one had to pull strings to get the website off the net, because his domain must've expired without renewal. With that in mind, we should at least change the license status to unknown on the site, since there's no way to obtain these games. And to top that, there's no way of getting in touch with the dev that I'm aware of. Unlike Bsc, who had co-developer Dan Zingaro and even Justin with active methods of contact for that matter, Robert Betz has no contact info that we're aware of. His old email address went the way of the domain itself. Since this has been the case for all of 6 years now, what's the best thing to do about these games?
  Also, it would probably be nice to change the compatibility to windows xp since these games fail miserably under windows 7.

Turkey blocks some VPN protocols, in keeping with the whole suppression of the people thing that's going. When I was last in Turkey PPTP was blocked outright, but if you can connect to other games then you probably have sufficient access to connect to other VPNs. I am looking at whether or not tinc would work; it uses UDP/TCP port 655. If you can reach that, you could connect to a tinc cluster and thereby be connected to a mesh network for gaming.

If you can't map the ports manually, or use UPnP, then the only hope you have is some sort of NAT traversal solution, which is almost guaranteed to work. This could be Hamachi, but I am working on setting up a Tinc server to support any number of gamers because it seems pretty clear that it's going to be needed sooner or later anyway. It would then only require one person, with one public IP address, to fire up a working peer-to-peer mesh network, and it would work behind any NATs.

Ok, so I got my code, put it in, and it worked this time.  Next question:  I saw nothing that said anything about creating a role on that page.  And after I set my password, it took me to the forum page, where all of the posts are.  So how do I go about creating my character now?  I tried signing in through the game itself, and after putting in my email and password, I get the following message:  "Network abnormal.  Exit game."  So what do I do from here?  Apparently I have an account, but the game isn't seeing it, and I am not sure how to go about creating my character, since whenever I sign into the page, all I see are the forums and posts, but nothing about character creation.

oh trust me, they don't know the code. It's a randomly generated 10digit code unique to each router. In fact, 10 bucks says your dad probably doesn't know the code either. Most people, digital illiterate or otherwise, will just have their ISP install the infrastructure for them and never touch the advanced settings just as long as it works, probably oblivious to the fact that, at least in my case when I looked at the ports, there were some forwarded already probably by their ISP. I've looked up how it is on my Uverse Arris Enterprizes nvg599 router, and there is no *default password*, same thing for the older pace plc one we had before the router upgrade. In some cases, the password and/or username could be admin, but that's not the case with Uverse routers. Did you tell your dad to look for the 10 digit number so we aren't mistaking it for either the wpa2 key or the serial number of the router?

Phil, re: voice samples: I actually do hope to do some other little demos like you heard in "Voices of Farhaven." But I wouldn't want to demo unprocessed samples, so when those come will depend on when VO gets processed. Which brings me to:Toto: Bryan P. is right. Right now, our budget is spent—actually, it's more than spent, and some of us will probably be chipping in a decent bit of our own money. That means our sound designer is going to have to add processing a lot of the Vo to his list of tasks he needs to accomplish before we can release. So if and when we're able to raise any additional funds, those will go toward reimbursing those out-of-pocket expenses and getting additional hours of work from our VO editor. Every hour that our VO editor is able to work on processing things is an hour our sound designer doesn't have to, so every little bit helps. We should be able to start taking donations around the start of July.

Lol, I don't think there is a single admin who has completed all the quests. And there is a 1 tile section in one of the new maps as well, and 2 admins, amine and JimmyDub spent an entire day trying to figure it out. someone else, hannibal-swamp figured it out fairly fast, simply using his camera in an intellegent way. another one of the maps, one i made, i spent 4 hours in it lost trying to figure the way through it, then amine who had never been there went through it right away easy as pie. I hope you get my point here.and as for not being able to jump, amberj could not as well, she was lucky to get 7 tiles on a jump. so she started practicing, and now she can clear 10 or 11 with no problem. The same was true for hannibal, he did lots and lots of practice jumps before a certain quest, and he got loads better by the end of it. And i think i have to repeat what i said, I really can't be bothered to care if people want to read spoilers to get all the informat
 ion about a quest, or to get a hint on how to complete a certain part. but this excuse of i cannot do this or i cannot do that, that is BS and everyone knows it. it is a choice to decide to look up a clue or walk through, that is your decision. However, saying i cannot jump X amount of tiles, or i cannot figure this out, that's an excuse. You can do whatever you want in STW if you set your mind to it. It is just a matter of patience, stubborness, determination, whatever you want to call it, but it is possible. But don't take me wrong, use spoilers if you want, who cares, just don't use excuses for it, own up to it.and with the paper cupon, lots of people had to figure it out, and we did, myself included. as i said, admins kept our quests and maps away from other admins so they did not know how to complete anything either.and @mr.brunete when exactly did i say people were being lazy? I double checked my post and i'm not seeing it there.Also, none of what i am saying is coming from me being an admin, not at all. All of this is me as a player, i like to do things myself, when people started talking about how to do quests in the out of character chat i switched languages so i didn't get my stuff spoiled. I even muted cocoa once cause he tried to give me hints on how to complete stuff in the sewers. So yes, me as a player, or with just about everything I just like to do it myself, cause of the knowing afterwards I did it myself. But as i said in my first post it is just a difference in personalities. I made sure to say multiple times, use spoilers if you want, who cares, but don't get upset if people don't like it, it is just a difference in outlook on how to do things.

Interesting. I am going to have to check some of those things out. Maybe I should do some exploring first and then maybe move my factory a bit farther out. Anyway, things to think about for sure. Those sectors were starting to seem a little close. Anyway, have you thought about coding in a range for the radios and tactical arrays yet? I am asking because I can see where if you get far enough out, you would lose contact with those that are closer in. Maybe the range could be about 3 out or something and maybe factories  with rift satellites could be used as a comm relay of sorts to relay radio signals back in to local sectors or something up to a point. Just a thought. I will have to write in a suggestion after playing a bit.

@chris: You'll need to enable the NAT feature in your TP-Link Router before the virtual server settings take effect. It might also be that you'll have to restart the router until the rules activate.Regarding your AT Router.I guess it's actually the router of your Dad and not yours, otherwise your dad wouldn't have a reason to not tell you the access code. And if you call AT and ask them for the code, even if your dad doesn't want you to know it, you're acting against law. Despite the fact that AT won't tell you the access code, because you could be anyone and knowing the access code will open everyone any backdoor found on the router, so it's even against the law for AT to tell you that code, even if they know this code, which I tink they don't.Best Regards.Hijacker

Hello all,I'm experiencing a problem when trying to help my friend open ports on his router. He's using an Archer C2 router. I set up a DHCP reservation so that the IP address of his computer never changes. I then went to forwarding>Virtual Servers and hit the add button. I typed 15000 in both the service port and internal port boxes, filled in his local IP in the IP address box and selected all from the protocol box and finally selected enabled in the combo box to specify whether the rule is active or not. I ignored the common service port combo box as that gives a list of common port numbers like HTTP, etc. If I selected anything from that list, the port numbers changed to things like 80 for http. Finally, I pressed the save button to save the changes. I then repeated the process to open port 15001 and entered the exact same information. The only exception was typing 15001 in both port number boxes. However, it doesn't work. When he tries to host manamon
  or Crazy party using those ports, I cannot connect. It seems like the ports are still closed. Does anyone have anymore ideas? I thought I was doing everything correctly.On a related note, I am unable to port forward on my AT Uverse router. Whenever I attempt to change settings, it asks for an access code. My dad won't tell me the code written on the router because it's behind a bunch of boxes and he thinks I might screw something up. Could I call AT and tell them I'm blind and that I need the access code read to me?

when you try to download the update, it essentially downloads 1.3.3. when you extract it, and try running it, it still prompts the update. it's as if it runs an old link, or something. I didn't look at the dates on the files of the zip file, to check whether it's truly 1.3.3, or it just simply doesn't work. either ways, the server is down, or so it seems, and the counter, in terms of how many times the game wasn't ran, does not change. or are the roomers true, that the thing is now paid? It would be nice to hear from a developer, at this point. if for  nothing else, say that paying wasn't required, and the server is down. who would want to pay for a server that's down?

Well, time to resume the stuff I'm doing for the visual mode.What is your opinion on the new bookmarks system, any suggestions?Also, is the current format where stats are given to you (giving you all the numbers) too much? I noticed when testing with sighted demographics this was too excessive, so I built a casual mode, but since the casual mode uses graphs to show information that's usually represented by numbers, it might be a bit tricky to convert into blind mode. So anyone with any input would be really appreciated.

Good luck with the new laptop Dark.  I don't know about you, but I put off buying a new one for as long as I can, and when I do buy a new one it can take me weeks to feel comfortable using it.  The keyboard is always a little bit different, the screen is a different size, it isn't held together with duct tape... If you are on Windows, you could do worse than to try opening up your network neighbourhood and looking to see if your router is listed. A UPnP-enabled router should appear there, and Windows has a built-in GUI for performing port mappings on a dynamic basis. Give it a try, anyway.

i don't have a particular problem with stw, i can jump long distances perfectly, and smoke, don't asume every player who completed something will tell others to do the same. i'm not that kind of person. if i can help, i'll help.The problem i have, however, is that certain people doesn't give a sh*t if someone asks for help. not necessarily for completing all the quests, but for example:i asked about the paper coupon the other day, and i received the clasic stw fanboys answer: "do it yourself". so, i don't know if i need to combine it with some other item (not the solution, i'm fairly sure), or, if i need to collect certain amount of it (30) to activate something (i think that's the solution, and after collecting 30 i'll get a quest), because i can't drop them or give them.as you can see, i'm not asking for people to do the coupon thing for me, i'm asking for a Little help here and there.
 i've completed that cristal thomas quest, and it was hard, but i did it. fortunately, a player tould me to look near the southmost part of the maze (if i remember correctly) to find something. i started looking and looking, and i finally found a single tyle where you can go down. from there, i did the rest myself.do you understand where i'm trying to go with all of this? in my case, i don't want to be spoiled massively, but sometimes i need some hints, and as i've said previously, i don't have much time to play games as i want.about the hard work, that's true, people did theyr best to do a crapload of quests and i really congratulate them, that's a strong reason to play the game again.we play here at home with my girlfriend, and we try to solve quests together. and that's great!But, and this line goes to smoke J, sometimes people can't figure things out for themselves, or, at least, not immediately.Don'

Well it's nearly the end of June, but I thought I'd let everyone know what is happening. I won't be around the forum as frequently this week because I'm at my parents, and though  I'm in the process of bying a new windows 10  laptop I can't pick it up until tomorrow, so right now I have to pinch my lady's windows 7 machine to get on the forum. Then again,  should be back soon with a  nice new laptop, which I can then start to install fun things on. This week is also hugely busy because my lady and I are singing for dad's 70th birthday party on Friday, and we've also got a one  off quire thing singing carl orf's carina borana and the  chorus from   idea which should be good, and I should be back on form with gaming etc next week.

I have to agree with post 16. I'm one of those, who can't jump. no idea if it's my skills, or my keyboard. but because of that reason, I couldn't do the cave quest. managed to jump it once, and once only, the 10 tile, but never again. although I find that I don't use the STW points, so I don't care too much. I mainly do it for the items, rather than anything else.

Let me clear some things for you here, as a person who tryed to learn C++, python, java and C#:Well actually i could not go around pointers in C++, and i still don't know what they do because they need a bit thinking to be understood correctly but not only thinking is needed. I personally like C++/C#/JAVA/PHP sintax, As they're easy to be understood and easy-to-use while in python you'll get confused sometimes when you need some blocks in each other. You will get scrude by those spaces (At least if you are a beginner)but keep in mind that if I couldn't learn pointers, that doesn't mean you can't learn them too. Let's just say that Apple's commitment to accessibility has some, ahem, clearly-defined boundaries. Sadly, their web presence for the whole of iCloud is one of them, and it reflects very poorly on their accessibility message and also their support for an accessible web. Ironically, sometimes the accessibility support that is present is actually better handled on a Windows box with JAWS or NVDA than with a Mac. As is PDF support: Apple makes tagged PDF files that contain images with alt-text, which VoiceOver can't use. Having said this, sometimes the reverse is true, and for a while the iCloud site was a lot easier to navigate with VoiceOver on the Mac. It's just not at all finished. The recent changes have however improved the Mail application, which is important if you want to set up rules.
