@42:Agreed, and for what it's worth the average* mainstream reviewer tends to pick apart and tear apart a game, and focuses on one or two things they don't like.I've had this argument with people in the industry as a whole with some notable big nams on both the critical and development side and  the critics can at times, be extremely, extremely unforgiving and brutal.If you put work out there, be it art, music, games, books, movies, whatever, you're going to get feedback, be it good, or bad, take the feedback and learn from it and improve your work to get better instead of saying 'Oh this community is not nice, I won't make games for this community'.   point them to a few audiogames and in private correspondence both tore the audiogames apart as simple, cheap and lazy games, if that's the sort of feedback a mainstream reviewer is going to give audiogames, I feel that audiogames should as a whole, be pushing forward and pushing the boundaries and having something that's worth taking to PAX, taking to EGX, to conventions as the absolute technical gold standard, the very, very best of original ideas (so no Manaman or Nintendo's lawyers may be at the convention and shut that down), and something that mainstream reviewers will play and think oh, this is great, I didn't know this was a thing, rather than oh games for the blind, I'll give this  6 out of pity for thembecause that last bit happens, there's reviewers who give gams pity scores.I'd also like to point out thatno, mainstream devs aren't immune to the drama either. VPN for Multiplayer Games Up and running

For those who need it, I've just set up a VPN that's peer-to-peer and works for all games that support direct connections (not using a remote server), and it should even work when you are behind two layers of NAT or other unfriendly firewalls. It works a lot like Hamachi and uses the 25.0.0.0/8 address space. It's free and fun, and doesn't require you do anything once it's set up. Follow these instructions to use it.WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING: pay attention to the following as it's very important, before you even get started.1.  There is no security. Anyone who can read this forum thread can join. You can't rely on this VPN for anything sensitive. Not that I'd expect otherwise, and it's good practice to just assume the whole world is out to get you all the time, but remember that this is a public network and anybody can see anybody else. You should imagine that you have a public IP address, for all the go
 od that does, and act accordingly. Do not host or transmit stuff on here that you'll regret. Most operating systems nowadays are robust on public networks, and do include firewalls. And of course you should be keeping your software up-to-date, and only expose services you need, and password-protect all important shares or resources. You should already be doing all this stuff, of course, but here's a reminder to be careful.2. Although I've tested it independently and found it to work from my Windows VM, please follow directions carefully and bear in mind that things might fail for odd reasons. There is an easy bailout no matter what, and I don't imagine anything tragic will happen, but understand you are ultimately on your own here. Of course, feel free to ask for help if you need it.And now, the instructions:1. Get the latest stable version of Tinc for Windows. We
  assume you are on Windows because that's where all the games are, but if you need help with another OS do let me know. The server in fact runs Linux.2. Run the installer. Install everything, except that you may, if you wish, uncheck the tap adaptor driver for the platform you do not use (if you are 32-bit, you could uncheck 64-bit, for instance, or vice-versa).3. Install the tap driver for your platform. In the tinc program folder, find the tap-win32 or tap-win64 directory, and run the addtap.bat file. You need to have elevated privileges.4. Find the tap device, and rename it to "gamers", exactly as shown and without the quotes, obviously. You must find the network object and rename it. How you do this depends on your OS, but I'm fairly confident I don't know the procedure for anything later than XP as M$ are determined to make it as stupidly hard as possible. But I believe newer versions of Windows now call this something like "Ne
 twork and Sharing Centre". And indeed, here's a wonderful guide, which also incidentally talks about the different types of exposure I was warning you about earlier. Read and understand it, please.5. Next, grab this file, and unzip it. Copy the contents into your tinc program folder. Specifically, the tinc.conf file must be in the same place as the tincd.exe file, and the hosts directory should be a subdirectory of your tinc folder.6. Open tinc.conf with notepad or another text editor. Change the second line, as directed by the first, and save it. Specifically, replace the name with a unique name for you. It doesn't matter what, as long as it has just letters and numbers and _ characters.7. Next, open an elevated command prompt, and switch to the tinc directory. As in<

It's not me who are having issues with admins etc. I have played, and are still playing many games, where I don't need to deal with the admins, and don't have to care about them. So therefore I enjoy those games without caring about the developers, and just stay off the chat when it becomes too childish, because I wanna enjoy the actual game. The idea with the JFIMA was to use sounds that I either created or had some legal access to, excepting the characters from pre-existing franchises. I was also using the same footsteps for a fighting game where they make much more sense as pairs. But you're definitely right. Mostly all I can salvage from those are the snowsteps, which I haven't found better substitutes for (all the professional such sounds I can find are crunchy ice-style, and I like having softer pure snow available. I mean, imagine if Sengoku Jidai involved shinobi running around on crunchy mcCrunch snow? That's not very ninja!)I'm glad that someone managed to figure this much out, even if it took 6 years, .Thanks a lot for the praise! It really does help a lot .

Hi,As the topic implies, I have a major Threema problem with my Galaxy S7. I attempt to open it, and it says, database error. Damaged or incomplete. Finish. I have done nothing to cause this. Tried to reinstall the app, and it came up with the same error. Any help is greatly appreciated.

@CAE_Jones:I've been trying to figure out JFIM adventure for ... well, I don't know exactly when it came out. I'm going to go out on a limb and say maybe 6 years? I mostly tried to play it in the new Jekocon console, not the old java based one. In all of that time, I never made it to the garage rooftop. Of course I wasn't literally playing all of that time, but ocasionally I'd pick up the game and try playing it.Tonight, I finally figured out how some things work. The sound test helped a lot. Not sure why I didn't use it before. I've actually managed to beat the first boss. Pretty cool trick to defeat him.I don't know what others have figured out, but I have to say, you actually have major potential as a developer.I think I can finally say a few things that have always been confusing to me. Firstly, the footsteps just are not clean. I don't know why, but there's a double footstep sound every time you tak
 e one step, and having your ally walking with you adds even more chaos to the step sounds so it's really hard to keep track of things, especially with all the sounds for topography firing. I think if you just changed the footstep sounds to cleaner, single  steps for most of your games, it would go a long way toward making them more understandable. Case and point, Le Petit Planet has cleaner steps and for the most part, I was able to figure out where I was going in that game. Though I do think there's a bug somewhere that prevents items from respawning properly, as I could never find the ring that deals with the duck.I really like the action RPG style interface. I like how you can bring up your inventory on the fly and do various things. Combat seems a little bit button mashy though. To be fair, the first boss isn't button mashy at all. I just didn't realize I needed to do something specific and kept running in swinging my sword for like 4 respawns, lo
 l.I hope you'll return to working on these console games a little bit. Jeko Prime has some potential, but I'm assuming basically none of the story mode was actually completed as all I could seem to do was walk around maps. DBGU I still can't figure out how to advance, since walking in either direction just steps infinitely without doing anything or finding any enemies. I imagine I have to find a platform or something.Seriously though, JFIM has a lot of potential. It's  already got some neat things that a lot of games still don't have, like actual 3D movement. Even though it was kind of annoying to walk off the roof of the garage like 4 times before I figured that part out, it was still neat that I could do it.I remember you posted some demos a while back of Triastria and something called PS3. PS3 looked like an improved version of the JFIM adventure, and Triastria just looked neat based on the demo you posted. I know you're wor
 king on Dark Clashers right now, but I hope you'll return to some of your old projects. They are actually pretty cool once you take the time to figure them out. You make the type of games I love, and if feedback helps you at all, I'd be happy to help you test any of your products now that I think I've figured out how you usually code some of your mechanics. You've got a lot of neat ideas. Perhaps your lack of motivation is just due to not enough people being willing to put forth the effort to figure out what kinds of things you've done?I hope this has helped in some way. I'm going to keep trying to figure out JFIM and perhaps I'll hit up Sengoku Jidai again. That's another game I've always liked the concept of but haven't been able to figure out much of yet.

Actually I just confirmed the clang at least on my computer is the shadow lords thing. My how I wish that were accessible. Fro what little I heard of it, it sounds cool!. Once I got into single player mode and chose my character I could not figure out what to do from there. I expected to choose the computer's character, but it's late here and my brain is tired lol! I was going to practice e a bit before bed but maybe I need sleep first. Lol!

As far as I know these forums have never allowed signatures. At first I was disappointed, but after a short while, I grew to like it and now turn off displaying signatures in all the forums I frequent. Some people can be a bit long winded in their signatures.I also turn off displaying in message images and avatars since I can't see either of them.In the end I end up with a much less cluttered display of the forum.

@49 While that would be a kind way of putting it, I'm not even sure your traditional reviewer would even be that gentle about it. The sorts of criticisms that you will see, at least from what I've seen, tend to be at least somewhat tough, depending on the flaw. Though, I suppose some communities may be more gentle than others, if you are going to put art of any sort out their, expect some rough strikes. Now, if the flaw is technical, as videogames are more prone to, expect those criticisms to be rough, as their aren't many excuses taken for that sort of thing outside of the beta phases. You might get passes on some stuff I suppose for freeware (Which RS seems to be) indie might get you a small pass (again, RS Client) and of course for beta stuff (I'm not sure of the status of the RS Client hear.) That being said, management doesn't tend to get much of a pass either. Again, that's not a terrible way to handle matters, its just, that's not usually 
 how it tends to be implemented in the end. Not to mension how poorly text conveys emotions. LOL!!!

Yeah I noticed that. M aira agent was having me go I think it was down all the way to get to stuff,  We did manage to get stuff adjusted and one of them is going to hopefully work with me once I'm done with my trips to get something written for the pc.. Right now I don't have the time due to  travles to do that and I need my minutes, maybe next month if I do get this agent again we can work on something for about 10 minutes.

However, I have some suggestions that might make the games better. For example, I think it would be neat to have some new and different games from the ones in the qwentin c playroom. This would add a voriety of games to the platform, and also may increase the popularity of the platform. Then, go on to list the games you might like to see included, as well as any features you might like to see. In short, they would

It's not easy. You do put in several days... weeks... months... and likely years, and yeah, game development is rough work with rewards coming in rare intervals. People interested in developing videogames should work towards a goal of trying to release a hit that people do enjoy, but honestly, the work's not in any way worth it if you aren't dedicated to the idea of game development in general. The work can get rather unrelenting. I do intend to pursue game development, and I'm glad to read some of these topics from time to time. After all, you can't impact a market without watching their likes and dislikes closely. Now, as far as this thread being airing of dirty laundry, I could very clearly see the argument. It is technically complaints about co-workers/bosses. That being said, this is technically a negative review of the upper management of a business, that depending on how that upper management carries themselves, could determine their credibility in 
 the market. That being said, this does seem to me to be a minor issue if an issue at all. Though, I'll leave that to the users of the forum to decide how severe they think they should take this complaint. Certainly, if you take how quickly they get work done, I mean, I suppose someone could compare their speed to that of their competitors to see who releases quicker for example if speed of updates is important to you as a consumer. Oh, and don't forget price. Sometimes, you're going to get what you pay for. That being said, I've seen some excellent free work done here as well. That being said, I've never played with the RS client, so I can't do the specific stuff.

Just in case someone is confused why I want to use the VM in virtualbox instead of VMWare. I hope to solve the network problems with the help of a friend that I had with VMWare. He will help me getting the VM to work in virtualbox, but doesn't like VMware and isn't using it himself, so He needs the VM of the android 5.1 as a single Image file wich he can convert into virtualbox format. So any help is realy appreciated. It would even be helpfull if someone could tell me wich one of the 27 VMDK's is the one to convert.

I have to agree with afsilva90 about the Grey Lady, after using up my lives and starting over half a dozen times I gave up and uninstalled the game. I figure that if the boss at the beginning of level three is that hard even on the easiest difficulty level, then there's no point in bothering with the rest of the game. That means I can use my $30 on some other game that gives me a challenge but also gives me a reasonable chance at beating it. I play games to be challenged and entertained, not frustrated.

Hey everyone.So I was on a long Hiatus for a year and a half before I decided to continue my work on JF Simon. Unfortunately, I am now working on packaging my sounds file into a pack file that the game can use. I will link to a zip folder of everything so that someone can help me. When I run the script as normal via source code or exicutible with all the sounds in the sound folder, everything works fine. But when I set the sound storage to the pack file, I get no sounds and a problem with running the main menu. That version of the console is way out of date.You can remap the controls in DBGU, iirc. The default for player 1 (I forget player 2  ) is:A/S/W/Z: directionsF: punch/attack1 / iirc cancel in menus? Press while paused to sort items.G: kick/attack2 / press while holding MENU to use the selected item or switch characters.H: in-game menu. Keep in mind that this does not pause the game! That version of the console is way out of date.You can remap the controls in DBGU, iirc. The default for player 1 (I forget player 2  ) is:A/S/W/Z: directionsF: punch/attack1 / iirc cancel in menus? Press while paused to sort items.G: kick/attack2 / press while holding MENU to use the selected item or switch characters.H: in-game menu. Keep in mind that this does not pause the game! From this menu, use left and right to select a character, up and down to select items, and kick/attack2 to use the selected item.  such huge number of boxers, it is highly unlikely we won't get drawn against each-other, at least occasionally.Edit:Oh, and 3: As I mentioned in my previous post, even if our gyms are located in different geographic regions, we are still allowed to create boxers for a few featured common regions, where there are significantly less number of assigned boxers, which makes the possibility of our encounters even more likely.

I have no idea if this is the case, but that error sounds like it has something to do with a dll-file called dx8vb.dll that has to be registered, but since you have been able to play the game, I'm not sure. Did you ever add that file to your registry?

Hi everyone,I found a sollution for jumping over the holes in The Gate. Once you get next to the second floorboard, press CTRL along with the Up arrow and the Right arrow. I don't know whether this will work 100 percent of the time, but it's worth trying. For a first boss, I expected the Grey Lady to be much simpler to beat, but she's incredibly hard to beat! I'm starting to get a little bit annoyed with her! I feel that I need to throw my PC out the window or something to release my frustration. OK, sorry in advance for any developer who takes this offensive, but it's just true. I don't buy the argument oh stop complaining if you want more audio games. Why exactly? Any developer who considers himself a developer must be ready to accept both constructive and not constructive posts. Don't even become a developer if you expect everyone to tell you that everything works great even when it doesn't. Those who stop cause of critisism just have a poor excuse for not being able to be a developer. Sorry but if we want audio games that are like mainstream games, we have to behave like mainstream gamers as well. In the mainstream world, critisisms are much worse than here. If we don't do this, we'll be stuck on simon and black jack for ages. Second, why does everyone consider this topic a flame war? Every post critisizing here so far was completely constructive, and flame wars are a different thing. Noone on here offended rs games, nor developers, there 
 are maybe a few harsh on admins, but i personally don't have any experience with them to comment on that.

apart from nvda remote, in order to get out of fullscreen mode in remote desktop, or minimize the window, you should use mouse to press the restore button on the top right corner of the window that way you can switch windows and press shortcut keys locally

Hi,Great question! Glad people are getting interested!Electron is pretty easy to setup. It's all done through the command line, and the tools are accessible.There is a library called Sono which makes creating audio games pretty easy. For input I simply use JQuery, even though that's probably already overkill.You're just gonna have to be aware what you're getting yourself into. This is a constantly changing thing, and implementations vary quite a bit from browser to browser, so it's going to be a fight sometimes figuring out what works, reporting issues, etc.I'm working on a lane splitter type game for the browser. It should be done in relatively short time, week or two. You can take a look at the source if you're interested when it's up.

Yes, this is true, though, most games that I'm familiar with don't use one server un sectioned off at least. It's easier to avoid being criticized on your ability to be an admin when you aren't the one managing the adminship. Though, when you are being payed, which most online games usually have some form of payment system, companies tend to be a bit more professional. To be honest, this sounds more like a colleague complaining about bad co-workers/bosses, which is very common. In videogame development in the general market, you are very expendable. Okay, now I'm rambling, so sorry about that. This stuff is interesting, and it at least is a good demonstration of what this market expects. I still don't find it to be that high of expectations, but then again, I don't intend to develop multiplayer games for now. I'm just not good at networking. LOL!!!

the loose sounds in the folder go in the audio folder. Those 01 and 02 go in audio/bussel. Others may go in the audio/aircrafts folder. I would say to look where the defaults are in the eurofly folder and then go in and replace them from my folder. hope that helps

except that with the general market, they can afford to be unforgiving because they deal with multi million dollar corporations that could care less what stupid things are said. In an already marginalized community, attacking one man teams is porportionally worse of a decision. and online games in the mainstream market also don't usually suffer from bad administration teams and online drama is always kept player to player.

To be honest, this community seems to be one of the most dev friendly communities on the net. The general market seems to be way more unforgiving of failure of any kind. I think admins making a game, or breaking a game has been adressed, but I should also note, that it is very important to keep in mind in games that use the dev as a server keeper as well. I don't get the one server deal, as it seems to be more prone to issues whether on a community front, or a technical front. Now, for the flamewars bit, I've got a bit of an off topic video to share. audio on dell inspiron laptop

Hello to all. Does anyone here have experience with the waves max audio on a dell inspiron laptop? I want to disable the enhancements but that part is not accessible with NVDA. It is an inspiron 5577 gaming laptop. I hate waves max so much. I really wished I could disable it using nvda but I have to see if someone can come over here and help me disable it.. I have tweeted Dell but have not heard anything yet. OK.. lord raven, pm me the one you've got for sapi. I want that. And if anybody has a working 1.3/1.5 with siri voices that actually, like, work, I'd like that. I only need siri obviously since everything else is ported. And for those who have the english compact bundle, which if you don't know this you can rip voices from C:\ProgramData\freedom scientific\vocalizer expressive\2.2\languages, try susan compact. Iww! That's how I got all the voices I wanted anyways, I didn't even know about blindhelp's packages. Somebody on skype leaked me a driver saying tiflotechnia version 4.0.0 alpha 2 or something.

I had the same issue on a dell vostro. That waves max audio thing really sucks. I had to get a sighted person to untick all the check boxes of all the so-called enhancements. The good news is your screen reader will sound loads better once you get all that crap turned off. I never found a way to just uninstall it though. Sorry I can't be of more help.

First of all:13: I got banned from an online game, can I ask the creator to remove my ban sinse she/he is also on the forum?The creators and moderators of online games are members of this forum just like anyone else, and deserve the same consideration when they're here. Constant complaints about having been banned from a game, or  pestering that a ban be lifted (either by private message or in the forum), therefore can very much become insulting behaviour. Such things aren't allowed on the forum, especially sinse such complaints tend to lead to very unpleasant arguements and bad feelings.If you've been banned and you believe it was unfare, a single, polite request to the game's moderator will do far more than a dozen complaining messages on the forum, also accept that when a moderator or developer says no, that is an end to it and continuing to hassle them about a ban is more likely to have the opposite effect, as well as possibly getting you in trouble on this forum as well.Equally however, the moderators take no responsability for what someone else may or may not have done on an online game and can only take note of what happens on the forum. Thus, saying such and such a person was causing trouble on a given game means nothing if they've caused no problems here.Nough said thereI think that's pretty clear. And second, when you register to the forum, please do yourself and the rest of us a favor by not introducing your presence with a complaint about being banned from an online game, ok?

Pretty much all of them are ripped directly from roms, either sound files or some samplers who actually knew what they were doing, and I have nes and snes soundsets. Reply if you want upload. [[wow]], sono is way better than Howler and is exactly what I need. I was looking for something that combined tone.js and howler.js together. I need to be able to generate sounds and control their panning.Do you know how to generate sounds like trumpet sounds with the controls sono gives? In my apps people really don't like the pure square and sign waves I use.Also, for the sono/panner, how do you set the heading position of the listener? I see:    panner.setListenerPosition(x, y, z);    panner.setListenerOrientation(x, y, z);but I didn't know your orientation could be set by x, y and z. I thought it was something like 90 degrees or 180 degrees.
