Which NBA game to get?

2017-11-23 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : simba via Audiogames-reflector

Which NBA game to get?

Hi.With the cyber week going on and some games dropping prices for a limited time, I wanted to get one of the NBA games talked about some months ago.I am wondering which would be the best one?I was thinking about either 2k16 or 2k17for the xbox or the PC.What I would like to have if the new games even have it is just a simple season mode where I can take my favorite team through the season, playoffs and so on.Any advice regarding the game?Greetings Moritz.

Re: Your future on Alter Aeon: a Discussion of game trends

@115, there are lots of benefits to Tor. The Hidden Wiki, for instance, is a good benefit -- you can access books, bitcoin mixers, libraries, and other things. The Tor network also lets you get around those absolutely annoying firewalls that block you from visiting pages because your local IT guy thinks they're supposedly "too dangerous" even if they aren't. (Schools and other educational environments have an annoying habit of doing this.) The thing with Tor is that you can't visit websites like Google or Youtube; if you do, you risk exposure. But most of the benefits to Tor are those that you find yourself. Granted, Tor is used for criminals and you can do a lot of amoral, downright illegal, or absolutely horrifying things on there, but the only time you'll ever find that kind of stuff is if you don't watch where you go. The reason the Dark Web is so feared is that the media makes it out to be the worst thing ever invented by humanity. In truth, it definitely doesn't even come close. The Tor network probably has more positives than negatives. You just need to watch where your going. If you stay out of areas you feel are suspicious or dangerous, you'll be fine. And don't listen to the media -- most of what they spout about Tor is a bunch of bullshit. (Really, most of what they spout is bullshit...)

Re: New sonification software for increased accessibility

@r3dux ok, interesting. so, the first basis of the program is working. The solution that can you use, is use precompiler conditions, on an abstract base class. So, when you compile the program in  windows, loads the kernel32 dll for the read memory function, and in the linux case, you have to find witch library is that you have to use for achieve the same result. So, if the libreary brary is a dynamic c++, you can load it through interhop without problem

Lol until I saw hadi.gsf at 154 I thought I was literally the only one who had no idea what this is about. Phil gave a good description somewhere earlier in the topic, but before I saw that that I also just saw all the excitement but had no clue what the game actually was. Sounds good though, especially if this much time has gone into it. Plus tactical battle is one of my favourite audiogames, so if Ian is involved I'm sure it'll be good.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

Lundin, out of curiosity where did you ever get the idea that Thanksgiving was about thanking people who you didn't thank during the year?  I've never heard anyone else say that sort of thing before, so it can't exactly be a common mistake, lol.  The other thing that's odd is that you clearly disagree with how you thought the holiday worked, so much so that you refer to people as idiots who celebrate it, but you had to have based that entire opinion based on some crazy rumor or something.  It's just weird for you to have formed a strong opinion about something, without ever actually learning about it in any way whatsoever.  I like to learn about something before I speak out against it... but maybe that's Americans in a nutshell.  (that last part is a joke obviously)

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!

Yeah, the holiday in my experience has never once had anything to do with thanks at all, and everything to do with relatives who don't get together all at once getting together all at once for a feast. There was something about football at one point, but that side of the family kinda fell apart due to deaths and stuff. I always hated it because this inevitably meant trying not to die of either boredom or smoke inhalation for the hours it takes for the conversations about whatever adults talk about to end. Luckily, people don't smoke indoors anymore (Uh, this might have something to do with those deaths I mentioned), and we have smartphones now. But, hey, the internet was full of people dreading political conflicts or something like that, and even though my dad is the family's crazy politics-obsessed uncle, the subject never came up. So that's... nice, I guess?

Re: Is anybody having problems with Firefox and the audiogames site?

If you're on the FireFox ESR release tree, you won't be able to access the site. I think it's because the ESR version's user string identifies it as Firefox version 52. Firefox 52 is pretty old, and even though the ESR version is still receiving security fixes, the user agent string that it uses doesn't differentiate between the old Firefox and the ESR release. One way I know of to fix it is by using the User Agent Switcher add-on to change the string to a newer version of Firefox.

You know, I second what some have said here. I never thought about how silly combat really is in those space games. A giant battlecruiser shouldn't be nearly as maneuverable as a fighter, yet they bounce around just like any smaller ship would! That's something. I do hope they come up with a better system for cosmic. I actually haven't played since the ground combat was changed so should probably do that to see what's new there. Stun rifles anyone? lol

Re: Injustice 2: Official Topic

Alright, I've done a lot of playing around with this, because I'm determined to make this work for us.Firstly, I'm using windows ten OCR with NVDA through the xbox app. Here's what I've found so far.equiping gear:  go into customise character, click who you want and you'll be given a list of loadouts.choose whichever one you desire, and you'll be given a menu of slots.  head, torso, arms, legs, accessory, ability one, ability two, shader.Click on that, and you’ll be presented with gear in the order you received it.  Click one you want, check your stats, see how they change?  That’s one way to know what gear does.  Another way which is slightly unreliable but works mostly, is to press r1 after this and it’ll show the bonuses gear gives you in the set you’ve selected.Interesting note:  Notice the AI loadouts?  You can use the AI to grind out endless towers, multiverse modes you don’t want to do yourself.  Go to one of their sets; there are two, and hit r1.  You’ll then be presented with a list of grappling, rushdown, bombos, and blocking which you can adjust.  You have a max of 60 points to spend here.  When done in any of these, back out and you’ll be prompted to save your customisation.I’ve also figured out how to sell gear.  The information on the web was wrong, or is out of date, so here’s what we do.Note you can’t sell something if it’s equipped luckily.Go to customise again and press r1 to be in the inventory tab.Find character, then you’ll be presented with a list of all they have.  Hit x or A to highlight as much as you want to get rid of, then hit the start button.  You’ll then be prompted to sell.I hope this helps.  I’m still experimenting, but this is becoming more and more fun by the minute.

We don't dedicate a special date to release all the thank yous at one point. We are just "hey thank you for doing this". When I was abroad in Greece I ate at a restaurant that served delicious fucking lamb stake so I had to privately thank both the cook and owner for doing an amazing job. They were very happy to hear so. I don't reserve my thanks for a special date because saying it when it's relevant makes most impact.Lol a drunken rant ... Re: Important information for firefox users: Firefox 57 and screen readers

As a longer-time NVDA and Firefox user, I can confirm, that there indeed are certain, quite annoying issues with the newest Firefox release, which slow our, so far routine operations down! The most annoying of those appears by operating with combined-lists:We move, jump to a combined list, and it does open the way it did before, but then all similarities end. When we move down and up in the list, NVDA doesn't read the list-elements anymore at all, so we have no idea where, at which list-elements we currently are. With the help of a sighted friend, we figured out a "cure", a partial solution for the issue, but as I said, it's just a partial one, and using combined-lists is still quite...uncomfortable, and much more time-consuming than before.Namely, whenever we enter a combined-list, we must press space, so then, and only then, the elements of the list will be read while browsing it, but then, when we wish to select one of them, we must press space again, if we don't do so, tabbing to the next element will not work. Then, after tabbing to the next element, (for example imagine a row of combined-lists, containing options, settings, alternatives), we must press space to activate the reading of the next list, for if we don't, we won't hear a single word again! And we have to repeat this process by every single combined list we wish to access, each single time, in cases of settings, options, many times in a row...normally, we had no such unpleasent hold-up with the old Firefox, so this issue will surely piss not only me off, but all other regular Firefox and NVDA users!Plus, there are some other, less-annoying, minor issues, which I won't even mention here, but the fact is, that even many sighted Firefox-users keep complaining about this new release, so hopefully the Mozilla team got bombarded by complaints by now, and will correct these issues in their next release, which, due the tons of complaints I guess, they will issue pretty soon!Summarized, the new Firefox is a nightmare for NVDA users, it even seems to work slower than the old one, (despite my change from Windows 8.1 to 10 yesterday), it is much less screen-reader-friendly in general, and since sighted users have also several, more serious issues with it, we hope for a new update correcting all those, ASAP!

Re: How to turn off screen in windows 10?

If you are using a mac, you can trun off your screen in windows 10, but it is complicated:1. set your display as dim as possible with f1 or fn + f12. go into the device manager and disable and reenable the display driver. This will cause the screen to go dark.3. repeat these steps when the screen gets brighter again, when plugging it in to ac power or when dialing up the brightness manually this needs to be redone. It isn't a good solution, but it works.

I believe Jack meant the disable driver option, not uninstall it completely. In that case, Windows Update shouldn't have a reason to update them as though they had been completely removed, or to switch to a Microsoft fallback if there is even a generic enough display driver included in the system by default. In any case, I am going to try that right now and see what it does after some time.Lukas

Re: email clients: TB is making me a rather mad mad man

Thunderbird is not sluggish for me at all on Windows 10 Creators Update, 64-bit, the Pro edition. I believe if you have a decent computer (anything with more than 4 GB of RAM and preferably an SSD, although Thunderbird also worked fine for me on my former Windows 7 Lenovo laptop which had a regular HDD), it should be able to run like a breeze. However, you have to make sure your local account is accessing the server through Imap and not Pop3 (nobody should use that any more, anyway), that you have disabled many of the toolbars and pannels in the view menu, such as the quick filter one, that you are displaying messages in new windows rather than pannels, that you have disabled the feature that makes it possible for Windows to search through the full text of messages, and quite a couple of other things like that. Some of them are hidden relatively deep down in the huge Options screen and they can be tiny things that might be easy to miss but making sure you have them set the proper way actually makes a whole world of difference. Many of these only make navigation more tedious than it needs to be by adding controls into the window that a blind user probably never needs anyway, but others are a lot worse than that, having a serious impact on the software's performance when used in conjunction with a screen reader. So, to sum it up, after spending some time with TB making a proper initial setup, it does pay off really well in the end.Lukas

But again, if I am on a private channel with veterans, not newbies, then why does it matter?  Especially if those vets aren't playing the game really, they're just chatting.  By toxic, I would assume that you're meaning a player that is trying his or her best to remove other players from your game; if vets are using a channel just to chat, then they're not going to remove themselves, since their goal isn't to play the game anyway.  I also maintain that people will tune out what they don't want to hear or they consider as ignorance, and the rest they'll do with as they please.Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

Here is my definition of the word clone.A game or a peace of software witch shares some parts of source code with an other project with out author's permission. This also includes Sounds, .dlls, and other components of the software. Shurely this will tick off some very good projects of the db, But that's what I think is the meening of the word clone.

Re: let's define the word clone

There's a fuzzy boundary between "this is in the same genre" and "This is a clone". I'd say Manamon is closer to a Pokemon clone than most of the FPSs are clones of anything, barring like 2 examples that should go unnamed because we'll never get Martian Manhunter to join the forums if there are any more flames. There are lots of games you might call Pacman clones, although I don't know the relevant release dates. There is this DOS game called Vectorman, in which you control a yellow circle with a mouth and run through mazes collecting dots and evading ghosts. Adding levels with spiders and sharks does not make it less of a Pacman clone. Unless Vectorman came first, but somehow I doubt. There's a Power Rangers fighting game for the Genesis which clearly based the Pink and Yellow rangers on Guile and Mbison/Vega. Yet it would be a stretch to call it a Street Fighter clone, what with the looping backgrounds, the giant vs not-giant mechanic, projectile reflection, and the rangers mostly being palette-swaps.So is it more like Vectorman vs Pacman, or Power Rangers vs Street Fighter?

Re: The history of audiogames

The first games I remember playing were with my dad, who is also blind, on a UK website, which had audio in the name but I can't remember it now, and no it wasn't this one.I was less than five at the time so it's fuzzy, but either there was a packman game on the site, or he was playing the PCS games version of packman, though this would be before 2001, so I'm not sure if it was out yet.I believe he was using jaws though, on a Dell, so I don't think it was Dos, it was probably win 95.The first game I played with him was called Mobius mountain, an audio game for kids where you would roll dice and walk that many steps up said mountain (I think their were also basic math questions involved?)Next was talking typing teacher, which really is just a series of games, and a few kid friendly sound matching type things that I forget the names of, accept for banjo buster, which was awesome at the time. Then I started playing Jim kitchen's monopoly with him, back when their was no board maker or extra boards.I listened to him play ten pin bowling as well, though I thought it was boring as hell and the sleazy announcer voice the guy put on enraged me on a primal level. After that, the first games I played on my own were trucker and mock 1, I was probably like 7 or 8 by now, as well as casino and star mule which I sucked at, with the speakers turned down super low, when my dad wasn't paying attention, it was the height of heart pounding excitement because I would have gotten in lots of trouble obviously, lolNext it was super shot and the still excellent sonic invaders, which me and my dad would take turns playing, now on my own computer, I was about 10, only supervised access to the internet and no headphones only stereo speakers though :-)I also started to understand enough to play Golf, as well as baseball and football, which was pretty fun, even though I honestly had no idea what the hell was going on or what the different actions meant, just that some worked sometimes, and didn't at other times.I remember Microsoft Mike was my favorite announcer and the L voices were skin crawlingly awful, especially the guy, still are IMO...When I went to summer camp one year a pair of bad influences let me play Spanker on their school laptop, which was simultaneously amusing and a let down, and while I don't remember how old I was, I do remember that Entombed had just very recently come out, as they had that too and I remember being grossed out and also intrigued when they told me about the corpse step sounds. How scandalous right? (Yeah, I was a pretty sheltered kid)...) roflNot much changed for a while until on a whim my dad decided to try out Super Liam because of everything he had been hearing on ag.net and podcasts and such.He really liked it even though he didn't play it much, though for the first few days I barely got to play from what I remember, because he was.. lolI remember being as annoyed as any little kid can be because he started it up the first time without reading the documentation, and no other game he had played before that used control instead of space for fire, so he died to the first enemy like 10 times, until we both just laughed and let it happen every time. That's when I finally read the documentation, after he gave up like a dork, and then we had another round of laughign when I found the first monkey.I could never beat that game, partly because the fire and fan death sounds scared the ever loving shit out of me so I slowly tiptoed on those levels to avoid it and as a result always ran out of time on the bosses. lolAfter this intro to more complicated arcade games, I started playing Top speed multiplayer with my dad after he got a laptop for work, which also meant he could play allot less, but it was pretty awesome, even though this was back when their were only like 5 cars.Since I was playing that, I also discovered light cars, and subsequently the horse racing game (amazing because it was my first map creator even though I didn't understand coordinates yet) and my dad discovered light locator which I wasn't aloud to play because muh nuclear bombs or something.I also blasted the GMA tank commander demo when everyone was out because it was fucking awesome, but I wasn't aloud to play it because of the screaming from the intelligence bases when you destroy them, which my mom accidentally overheard. shit...Next is when I started playing Grizzly Gulch, after some arguing with my mom about the gun play, mostly because my dad wanted it for him self because of the audio demo lol.Super deekout and pipe 2 were next, now I was about 12, and my restrictions weren't so tight, probably because I hadn't shot up my school with a six shooter screaming reach for the sky, this hear's a robbery! after being exposed to such violence yet, but probably more because my mom just didn't really give a crap about games. It was pretty great, I was getting new games every Christmas and birthday if

(Yeah, I was a pretty sheltered kid)...) roflNot much changed for a while until on a whim my dad decided to try out Super Liam because of everything he had been hearing on ag.net and podcasts and such.He really liked it even though he didn't play it much, though for the first few days I barely got to play from what I remember, because he was...I remember being as annoyed as any little kid can be because he started it up the first time without reading the documentation, and no other game he had played before that used control instead of space for fire, so he died to the first enemy like 10 times, until we both just laughed and let it happen every time. It was pretty great, I was getting new games every Christmas and birthday if possible... I hadn't discovered cracking yet. I also got rail racer one, lonewolf, which I sucked at, and SCW when I was around 11 and 12 and spent hours on that shit.Played some pack man as well but I wasn't any good, I was better at super dog's bone hunt, egg hunt, and the great toy robbery.I loved dark destroyer though, and I was actually pretty good at it too, even played it with my sighted sort of but not really half sister who moved in around then. This is when I started being able to use headphones,

Re: Want my deleted partition back

Hello.I'd recommend getting an external hard drive if you can. That way, you can have a backup of your files on the external hard drive if anything goes wrong. You can also reset windows 10 but unforchenetly that won't give you your files back.

Re: What Digital Audio Workstation do you guys use?

gamesmaster wrote:Reaper is confusingIt doesn't even have effectsI assume that you find Reaper so confusing that you couldn't find the effects, and thus that is why you have made such an inaccurate statement. Have you installed Osara? If not, I highly recommend you do so. What have you tried to do to find the effects?Speaking of Reaper, I think that would be your best option, but I'm not that familiar with DAWs so I can't say for sure if it will do everything you need it to. I think it will if you know how, but I can't help you with specifics.I can tell you this much: QWS isn't going to help you unless you need good midi sequencing; Reapers' midi sequencing from what I've heard anyway is fine, but if you want to do advanced stuff, QWS and Sonar are better equipped to do that, according to a friend who used to use Sonar. Reaper also has excellent support for VST and DirectX, both instruments and effects. It also has the best automation support for those effects from a blindness perspective, as Osara has an automation dialog you can use which shows every parameter and lets you change it. Envelopes and other things with automation are accessible now from what I've been told so you can have a lot of fun with that. Not sure how it works with control surfaces though. As I say, I really don't know much about Reaper or DAWs myself and am only learning a little bit here and there. So I think that is pretty much all I know at present that might help you.

Re: Inferos Prototype

This sounds really cool, but it would be nice if you could use the left and right arrow keys as an alternative to the mouse for turning.Allot of blind people don't really use mice, it used to be almost none but a game came out a few years ago (called Swamp) that got most of us to go out and buy one and learn how.Problem is, that game became subscription based a couple years back, causing the playerbase to shrink massively. Therefore, most people chucked their mouse in a box and forgot about it, or just didn't buy a new one when it inevitably broke (most people didn't get expensive ones for just one or two games).Of course their are laptop track pads, but the majority of those suck, and while their are people who happily welcome any audio game with mouse support, it's still a minority. Now that said, the more hardcore guys, the ones who would stream your game for instance, they almost always have one, but the average player probably doesn't.So if ya can't do it without spending allot of effort that could be used on other facets of development, than don't sweat it, but you will unfortunately get less players...
