2018-03-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : jonikster via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Choice of country for life

ironcross32, I'll try to say this simple for you. But maybe you can not understand me, we probably have different mentality, different views on life. But I see the truth to tell you about it.Our life is one. Yes, I believe in the immortality of the soul, I believe in reincarnation, but life in this body is one. And we do not know what will happen in the future. For this reason, we must think about mistakes. We can make mistakes many times and many where, but there are things that are decisive in life. Who we are, what we will have. It does not always depend on ourselves, on our profession, but depends on decisions that need to be made correctly.I believe that the choice of the country is one of those decisions that affect the future of our lives. One of the reasons for the large number of my topics is that England and America are two big countries. I'm not talking about the population, not the square, but about politics, opportunities, history. And for me it is difficult to make a decision. Also in the world there are many other countries. Australia, Austria, Germany, Canada, China, Japan. Agree that these are developed and developing countries. My advantage and at the same time my problem is that for me language is not important. Yes, English is simple for me, but I think that I will be able to learn any language if desired. I am interested in the standard of living, the conditions for the blind and visually impaired, the possibilities and how suitable this country is for me.If there was a country that combined England and America, I think that this would be my country. America attracts me to opportunities, I am delighted with the history of America, but England also attracts me with its history, quality food, political device, and I think the mentality, although the British are afraid to interfere in someone else's private life and it seems to me that Americans are more open than The English. There are many countries and problems that I have to find out. I have 2 options. Follow the feeling or follow the mind. My feeling tells me that my choice is America. I do not know why, but since my childhood I like America. For me, this is not another country, but another world. But the mind tells me that in England I can earn money, have friends and my favorite books are books of English writers. You see that this is difficult, for this reason I apologize for the number of my topics and questions, and ask me to understand.Thank you.

we don't need an audio version, we need the real version, like we need to be able to play the same game with everybody else. I'm going to try it out on my pc (if it'll even run it) and see what I can do. As long as I can straif or snipe i'm ok, I used to play call of duty sometimes so I should be ok. If i actually have any success, i'll let others know. And thanks for the forum idea, That's a good point, who knows, the devs might respond and help us out, who knows? Worth a shot.

Pokemon anaversiry crystal hanging and corrupting saves?

Hi,So I decided to try out the anaversiry edition of pokemon crystal to get a more of a R Y B feel, and things were going great, besides the sounds getting stuck for a few seconds, that is hanging up and so on.I trained 5 pokemon to level 15,won a baj etc, howeverThe hanging up for a few seconds became constent when I tried to pathfind once,to get out of that I loaded a current save, pressed the [ key when it wouldnt respond, after pressing that key it became normal, however my save slot has reverted to a very old one where I started with my first pokemon! My question is, is there a way to stop these stutters? which happen for a few seconds and the ones that corrupt the savefiles as well? The stutters are a miner anoyance, even though they happen quite often, its the one that gets it stuck that I am wondering about how to fix.If you have any ideas solutions, they are welcome.Using bootcamp windows 10,running in compatability mode win7, high scale dpi disabled.I5 processor,2.7GHZ 8gb ram etc.Grryf

My NHL 04 audio demo

2018-03-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : simba via Audiogames-reflector

My NHL 04 audio demo

Hi everyone.First things first, without the help of seb 2314, this wouldn't have been possible, it took some time but throughout the last week, we came together and he helped me set up and fine tune the game and the settings helping a blind person, and I am seriously thankfull for that because, as a matter of fact, I didn't know that hockey games could be so addicting.Because of that, I recorded a little demo to show how it works, there is currently no talking, just the audio of the game. If enough people are interested, I can record a demo with me explaining a bit about the game. Please note though that this isn't just pick up and play, you need to set up the game first, configure the options, learn the sounds, change some values with the registry editor and a bit more. But, if you are a fan of hockey and if you are willing to learn about the game, it's definatelly worth the effort. Also, if I reach an audiance big enough, I may go there and record or write a guide on how to set all this up, maybe with the help of Seb, have to ask him though if he would be up for it.But, I think I talked enough. Here is the recording. I played with the stanlay Cup champions, the Pitzbourgh Penguins against the raining DEL champion, the cologne sharks.Period length is 10 minutes, and i am the home team. Here is the linkhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/fl02elcu7uoyc … n.mp3?dl=0Sadly I don't have the box score file anymore so that you could see how the game went in detail. If you have feedback, just post it here.Greetings Moritz.

Re: learning to eddit?

Yup yup what everyone else said.  I started with audacity, and now I went to Reaper.  But I use a lot of work arounds in audacity, and it was fine for getting started.  After having time with reaper it's really inferior, but I used audacity for years and there's a lot of keystrokes right in the documentation of audacity.  Depends on what you want to use audio editing for, but just asking how to audio edit is really a loaded question.

Dragon Realms -help needed!

2018-03-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Caccio72 via Audiogames-reflector

Dragon Realms -help needed!

According to the Wiki-sources, Dragon Realms is a game, which can be played by blind players, via VIP MUD Client even.(I have bought the v2 of that client a year ago, and am still using it for playing MUDs)However, the source mentions, how character-creation must be completed on the website 1st, (so by using our browser), and then it describes the process of adjusting it to the VIP-client, where it can be (accordingly) be played after the process is done.It sounds quite complicated, but since the game seems pretty inviting to me, (meaning my expectations of a popular game with a large enough community, and classless/levelless system, learning skills by using, practicing them), I intend to go through that process. So far I have managed to make an account, aka to sign up to Cimatronics home page and Dragon Realms, but got stuck with making a character in it.I reached the point, where the page asks me to name my character, or choose to view the name-suggestions.According to the wiki instructions, there are supposed to buttons on the page at this stage, and I should select/choose one of them, plus check some so called "radio button" next to them, that way my choosen character-name will be accepted, and my character created.Well this is the step where I got stuckI figured out where to insert my desired character-name, and also can hear the...quite many..."buttons", but regardless of which I check, what name, or command I insert, my character just won't get created.Maybe it's that additional "radio-button", which I seem to be unable to locate? If anyone of you happens to play Dragon Realms, can he please help me out regarding this issue?

Even in the 80's people had a possibility to find where the x item is sold, and here or ask or go explore. But who knows, maybe I got used to those types of games where everything is already on your plate.

Re: 6 Swords - Fantasy Adventure game for Amazon Echo

I've gone ahead and reduced the damage from Dragon's breath weapons, reduced the frequency they use it with, and made Dragons more rare. See what it's like after the update and let me know what you think. This week's update is going to be a doozy anyway. Towns (in the premium area) are going to get a lot more interesting just like ruined temples got interesting in the last update. More layouts with back alleys and bridges. And in-city temples will also be more interesting. You can choose a specific God as your patron deity and then go on missions for them. I think your idea for wishes might work better for spells. Under the covers there is a way for an effect to be imparted to a character for a set amount of time. This is how potions work. I've wanted to have spells-as-a-service for a while; where you can buy a spell to be cast on you from a shop. So maybe something like buying elemental resistance for a day or more.

Re: Bookworms: what are you reading/listening to?

I read Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn years ago and while it is long, for me that is what I like, I don't want books to be over in a minute, I want them to last. Without spoiling it for you, I will say you are in for a surprise! I will say no more, so don't even ask. Now, if you want a really long story, the kind I like, try Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time, now that is a long story taking 13 books to finish with the last book so big it had to be published in two parts, just as Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn's last book, To Green Angel Tower was.Another really long story is Sanderson's Stormlight Archives, that will take ten books, though only the first two have been published so far, and I'm thinking that the third book seems over due.I thought His Dark Matterials was quite good and was rather disappointed that the movie they made from the first book didn't do well, or they might have done all three books. What I'm reading now is another series of books called An Unfortunate Series of Events by Lemonny Snickets. I think that's spelled right.

Bookworms: what are you reading/listening to?

2018-03-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : flackers via Audiogames-reflector

Bookworms: what are you reading/listening to?

So what are you reading now, and what have you read recently that you enjoyed? I've just started book 2 of Tad Williams' Memory Sorrow and Thorn trilogy, and am quite enjoying it. I loved his Otherland series, though it was stupidly long, and could have lost a thousand pages and not suffered. Memory sorrow  and thorn also seems to be long for long's sake, and could do with losing a bit of flab, but I'm getting through it okay. I've had a couple of false starts with it over the years, but this time I slogged through the slow start.Other books I've read recently are The Howling by Gary Brandner, and La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman. I downloaded the AD film version of The Howling and listened to the first ten minutes before deciding it stunk, but it did say at the start that it was based on a novel, so I went and got an ebook of that instead, and it was a quick easy and enjoyable read. I find werewolves stupid, and about as scary as a bowl of milk, but the book was good because the author made everything else interesting and readable.La Belle Sauvage for those who don't know is a prequel to Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, and is definitely a return to form. I thought the HDM trilogy was great for the first two books, but I was pretty sick of it by the end of the third, and never thought I'd want to read more, but a prequel centered around completely new characters sounded intriguing and I'm glad I gave it a go.

Re: Any new happenings, unique games to play?

I honestly didn't think it was bad. Was it award-winning? No, but all things considered it wasn't half-bad. Can it be called a side-project game-wise, yeah, I'm just gonna be honest and say that it probably was considering he theoretically would've been working on the bigger project that was Manamon at the time of The Gate's release. After all, he did say he was working on Manamon for about a year and a half. Which means that within that same time-frame The Gate came out. That being said that certainly isn't a put-down in fact it's more of a justification as to why the game might'v e been a little rough around the edges. But despite a fairly unsatisfying ending story-wise, it was a pretty good game. IT would be nice if folks kept in mind that this was a project being worked on within the time-frame of another major game, and when you have a full cast of actors that you have to pay with your own budget *while you're in college* mind you, you certainly have not much choice other than to charge a little higher for the game in hopes of getting the investment back. But I digress. My point is that I don't think The Gate's voice acting was bad at all, to answer Nyanchan's question.

Sorry for a bit of off topic, but does the voice acting of The Gate really sound bad? I thought they did much better than the gatekeeper of the dragon shrine in Shadow Rine. But I might be having different opinions because I'm not a native speaker and don't watch movies or play fully voiced games in English as much as most people here would do.

Re: The audio game you've played more than any other?

Hmm,!I've sat here for at least 5 minutes giving this question some serious thought, and I can't come to a precise answer.  If there's any game I've returned to over and over again through the years it's Alter Aeon, but that has recently gone out the window for me owing to the change in focus of priority and importance where the staff and, um, top players are concerned, I guess.  that means I more than likely won't be going back to it any time soon for any stretch of time that involves me actually taking the game seriously. So what does that leave?  Lunimals?  Crazy Party?  Sound RTS?  Judgement Day?  I'm honestly not sure, but all of these I play more or less equally.  Methinks AHC is gonna end up a favorite before long, though.

I agree with everyone else. I think Gold Wave might be your best starting point when it comes to editing. Reaper is usable, but has a learning curve, and Audacity it accessible, but not the most intuitive thing on the planet. I would recommend Gold Wave for anyone who's getting started with audio editing, its commands and interface are the friendliest of all the audio editors.

Re: learning to eddit?

For me, audacity and VR has always worked better. Everyone’s different though, so what works for you really depends on the following.A, what are you trying to accomplish. Cropping, cutting, adding music or sound effects into recordings, these are all things you should take into consideration. Different programs work better with different things, so what works better for you really depends on what you want to do with them.B, recording audio. VR and audacity are both pretty good since they can record as well as edit. If you want to be able to change recording quality, change what comes from where on the stereo, along with a bunch of other cool stuff. Again, weather or not it works for you all depends on what you want to do with it.

Re: Fortnite

Fortnite has the same problems other FPS's have, variable height terrain, mute menus, object interaction, etc. which can make navigation and orientation difficult. The console versions may be easier to work with as they likely have some auto-aiming functions, though that doesn't help with navigation or object interaction perse. You could try the 3D mode in The Voice for PC of course, though your milage may vary. If you'd like to help bring up these issues with the dev team, feel free to hit up their forums [here] under the Suggestions & Advice or Feedback sections, for Battle Royale and Save the World respectively.

Re: Wanting to play left for dead

Maybe, but it wouldn't be easy. The biggest challenges would probably be the lack of audio cues for object interaction, navigation, and orientation. I'm not sure what L4D's memory profile is so I can't really say how viable it is to use Sonifight for it, although it could possibly help when highlighting items and object interaction, and getting info on HUD elements such as ammo, health, equipped items, etc. Another approach you could try is The Voice's 3D game mode if you have the PC version to try and help with environmental navigation and orientation, maybe change the settings to lock the vertical mouse axis, although that could cause some tricky situations.

Also, please take into consideration the following.Carter temm now does most of the work in redspot, Sam, from what I’ve herd,as school and other stuff going on and there for doesn’t have much time for redspot, not to mention he has stw.The maps system in SB is kind of stupid, completely relying on inviroments, and the map code it’s self is just meh. Also, newer versions of SB have no climbing ability, and have different sound sources on the map, tiles, and zones are all impossible. So all in all, it’s just not possible. The best you could do is import menu sounds, weapon sounds, hit, enemy hit, your death and enemy death sounds, and item sounds.Oh and let’s not forget, i’m pretty sure the redspot devs wouldn’t want whatever sounds you choose to use available to the public.

Re: The Allure of Wanton Cove

Had two bugs reported. One was something that has likely been in place for a long time and has been preventing much of Mr Morichi's content from playing. The other was the way I coded the Fountain scene, which was only allowing it to play out under a pretty specific set of circumstances. Hopefully this will fix both of those.Public Version Fix: https://www.patreon.com/posts/17887025Supporter Version Fix: https://www.patreon.com/posts/17887027

Re: Choice of country for life

Here's the thing though, other people have told him to chill and he hasn't, so how do we get him to back off without wording it harshly. He literally creates new topics to ask questions about every little detail about every thing he wants to do. Then he created one topic for england, another for america, then merged them into one topic, to me, that's spam. The thing is, I don't mind helping people, I will answer questions, look up resources, give links, so I do look at posts like that to see if its something I can give a response to. But I do think if someone is being a nuisance, we should be able to do something about it. Sometimes, people need a swift kick in the ass to get them out of a pattern of ridiculous behavior, or they need someone to come along and pull their head out of their ass and get them to look around a little. Also, if this was the one and only thing, maybe someone could have come long and said hey man, would you mind making your topics a little more concise, like a compare and contrast england vs america, rather than two separate ones. But this behavior of asking so many questions, the flip flopping, the asking for opinions acting as if he wants people to make his decisions for him, its been going on now for well over a year, and I think people are getting tired of it, I know I am. So what do we do? Every community needs a way to deal with their less than desirable elements. Now, I don't know if this dude is a bad guy or not, maybe he's just very detail oriented, and don't get where the people who express a bit of displeasure are coming from, but I do think we should be able to make our desires heard.

Re: Escargot - The "Next Generation" Revival Of MSN Messenger/Spaces

The thing it's based on was like Skype, but not a bloated nightmare with accessibility issues. It was light-weight, more convenient regarding saving conversations, you didn't need to install screen reader addons to navigate the thing at a reasonable speed to keep up with conversations, and the conversation format seemed cleaner IMO (more like Facebook Messenger, except, you know, lighter, more screen reader friendly, and didn't crash every five seconds like Facebook Messenger did until recently).Whether Escargot is sufficiently WLM-like in the ways that count, I do not yet know (on my phone), but if so, let it grow.

I honestly haven't seen a topic or post of his where he actually contributed something. I don't say that to offend, but that's just my opinion. For all I know, he could be contributing things and I just have no idea what the hell I'm talking about, but so far I haven't seen anything. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. He keeps making posts about the same thing, "Please tell me things about America/England," when he could be asking more specific questions like, "What are the immigration processes in America/England, what do I have to do to get in? What things are generally unacceptable in these countries?" That last one was a bit broad, but I think you get my point.

Re: Any new happenings, unique games to play?

If I could upvote post 19 twice, I would. I heard about a website, originally for recruiting voice actors, which recently expanded to other roles, like writer/animator/etc. I think it might have been Casting Call Club, but I'm not entirely sure. I haven't checked to see how well these new options could apply to game development specifically.Industry standards for professional studios require rather high paychecks, on the order of $1 / month per developer. I read something somewhere (about 5 years ago) which implied $400 is an acceptable starting fee for a small voiced part (emphasis on small), but the actor / their agent can adjust their asking price based on how much demand there is (fame generally means a higher price, but we kinda knew we were going to focus on amateurs). Pro development software is often expensive (the cheap stuff might be in the 3 digits, but the best stuff will generally add a 0 or two).Pro studios generally have an actual, physical studio for the local team to work in, and that's a whole other mess.If you're going pro, keeping it small, and working fast, you'd still be lucky to keep it under $100. If we cut corners that a game for the sighted can't get away with cutting, can manage with one or two programmers willing to work for way below industry wages, and use volunteers and the creative commons as much as possible, the sort of thing everyone asks for might be doable for a budget under $10. I think Philip Bennefall put under $1 into Perilous Hearts (I don't remember exactly; $2000-9000?), and VGStorm's titles managed something cheaper (and people complain about recycled sounds and acting quality in The Gate... this is what you get for a game cheaper than a notetaker, folks).I think we can do SNES type innovation with the resources we have, except see my previous post for why that's not happening. Anything beyond that requires lots of resources that most of us frankly don't have a means of obtaining in the short-term.

Re: Microsoft rewards: Sweepstakes, Skype credit, and gift cards for free!

When I created my microsoft account to get office I saw this, but honestly when I looked at the number of points needed to actually earn anything substantial, ie, amazon gift cards (probably the only thing I'd use since I don't have  xbox or see myself using many other microsoft products), it seemed the amount of points you needed was nuts, not to mention the amount of time you had to spend each day on random searches  reading  praises of the almighty microsoft.Rather like my local supermarket morrisons, who had a points scheme which worked out as you having to spend £1000 to get £5 off your shopping (that's how it worked out), and of course you couldn't even have that without getting a metric tonne of spam through the postbox. If anyone can give me a rough break down of what you have to do to earn points and how many actual points are needed I might look into this a little more, but usually promo offers like this are more trouble than they're worth and just an excuse for a company to get people to do their own market research for them, or happily accept advertising they'd usually chuck in the bin.

Nah, the hosts can be completely bipolar at times. I have played for years, and sometimes they are the friendliest people one could imagine, the next, they are making what seems like very arbitrary decisions with very little reasoning or logic behind it. That's not even getting into the whole conversation about certain people always getting involved in the neat plots, or getting the neat stuff. On top of that, it seems like my philosophy on drawing out plotlines that are dividing the playerbase over months or years is in disagreement with them. The game is extremely well-done, and most days I really enjoy it. There are times though when I wonder why I started playing again for sure.

I think that the most difficult part is how to manage larger teams including the chief, programmer(s), sound designer(s), voice actors and actresses, script author(s) or advisor(s). Lots of devs including me, in most cases, have to do them all by themselves, because they're unable to reach out to those who may be able to help or simply do not know what is needed to work smoothly as a team and complete the objective, while not losing their creativity and future possibilities of changes / expansions. How would you find and ask for help / employ people? How much would you pay for how much work? How would you make sure that everyone would do what you had requested? How would you handle the situation if something unexpected would happen? How much would you predetermine the goal and how much change would you allow for yourself and other members? If there were documents that explained such things, they'd be very helpful for many audiogame devs, since most things we can read from business books are just beyond our financial or time constraints.TDV is one of the games which a large number of people involved in, and I'm really interested to know how the journey of the development project was.

Most everyone who can is busy with better things, so we're left primarily with those who can't. There are exceptions, but they are just that.I don't think BGT has much, if anything to do with it, since the same would apply without it: everyone who can do better is busy puting those skills to use professionally, and everyone who can't just wouldn't.I think the same applies with Kickstarter, tbh. If you're resourceful enough to make one, you're probably busy with real life stuff. So in practice, we're still where we've always been: mostly nowhere with the occasional AHC or BK or Swamp. Since AHC came out last year, we're probably not going to see anything worthwhile until deep into 2019, given the past rate of innovation.

Re: Any new happenings, unique games to play?

I think BGT plays a big part in why there are not a lot of really good, innovative games out there. Every blind 12 year old and up grabs this thing and starts fiddling around with it, ends up not being able to code their own classes, etc. and either finds publicly available code and throws it in their project, or in some unfortunate cases, steals code and uses it in their project. But, even if nothing nefarious has happened with a particular game, most of these games are not great. They tend to have a lot of bugs, the gameplay isn't that great, if its an online game, now you have children, literally children moderating it and administrating it, which leads to problems. BGT has made the entry barrier so low to game development, anyone thinks they can do it now, and the fantasies rolling around in their head, now they see an outlet to do this, but they don't have the patience at that age to learn to code properly, so they cut corners. We know what BGT can do, and while it does have limits, it can do more than a lot of people give it credit for, but BGT in the right hands can turn out a good game.Space MUDS, yeah, not really unless you roleplay as well. If you do, I can give you several examples. The first one is called Star Trek: Phoenix rising, it is relatively new. I'll list some pros and cons. Pros: newbie friendly, friendly staff and players; very good RP, full space system. Cons: Scenes happen every few days, not every day, perhaps 2 to 3 times a week; limited playerbase, usually about 12 connected at once, sometimes up to 16 or so if literally everyone is on; you can't do whatever you want, you're part of a crew, and you need to be in that role. Let me expand and the last one is not just a con, its a bit of both. Everyone right now is going to be on one ship, the USS Phoenix. Each person takes a crew slot, and fills that role. There are a number of slots open on the roster, and you can fill any of those. I also didn't put this under pros or cons because I think it could be subjective and vary, but you are required to write a bio. I did mine in meh, about two hours, I was kind of distracted, I spelll checked and proof read it, submitted it and it was approved the next day. They do not want a list of criteria like SC, they give you a few guidelines, and that's it. This one also has a style of RP I honestly haven't been involved with before, and I don't quite know how I feel about it. I like it, and I have my reservations too. It's basically moderated RP, like you will say, pose that you've started a scan and an admin might page you with what you found, or someone might ask you a question, something that you cannot just find by looking at your instruments, such as, can we beam a torpedo away without it detonating the crippled ship? You would then page the admin and ask if it could be done, to which they would reply with an answer that you'd paraphrase, working it into your pose. This one also uses the MUSH style of RP, not common to all MUSH's but that's where I've seen it most. An order is maintained, so someone sets and everyone poses, until it rotates back around, and that order is usually kept, the only time where it can get kind of hectic and people jump it is when heated stuff is going on on the bridge. The game has coded systems to support the RP, like hyposprays and medkits for the doctors, for the ship, the engineer can allocate power to various systems, assign repair teams, operations can control shuttle launches, tractor beams, etc. Helm navigates, sets course, etc. Science does detailed scans, tactical is obvious. The ship has a fully functional transporter system and you might find yourself beaming down to a planet on an away team at some point. They have EVA suits for missions to places with no atmosphere that are smart and filter in external air while there is atmo, and will automatically switch to the internal supply when there is none, then back when you get back, etc. Security personnel can get phasers from the security lockers, once you're on the roster, you can use the replicators down in the replimat to get equipment, like your uniform, a tricorder, your commbadge. Though, just starting out, someone might get you these things as you wouldn't have access until you've talked with the first officer or captain, or your department head. Also each person gets their own individual quarters they can describe for themselves.Another one is trekmush Among the Stars. This one has been around forever, it too requires RP, but it is very different. For one thing, you can get your own ship right off, now it won't be very fast, or very good, but you can send in a ticket and get one within a couple of days. You can also crew up with people on their ships. There's a lot to do from role play to battling pirates to trading, making latinum, etc. The ship systems are very very advanced, just to give you an idea, you can allocate power to each of the main

Re: New Audiogame The Vale - Playtest Thread

Hello all!  My name is Dave Evans and I am the game director and writer of The Vale.First off, it’s great to be posting on my very first troll-free forum!  I’ve been reading the feedback here and it’s all respectful, amazingly concise, clearly informed, and a massive benefit to our team… please keep adding to the conversation!Audio games afford me the opportunity to concentrate energy on what I love… crafting story and working with voice actors.  I sincerely hope that our team’s efforts will be appreciated, which is why I want to talk a little about our decision to make our game’s main character blind.  In the development of this game, we are working with young and not so young members of the blind and low vision community, many of which have never played audio games before.  All seem very excited for the game after playing our demo.  When asked why they had never played before, some had just assumed video games were not for them ... unaware of what audio games had to offer… some noted a dislike of current conventions in audio games (challenging navigation and the robotic text-to-speech)… and some cited a lack of production quality when compared to visual based games.  All of these issues, we intend to address as we look to bring new members of the community to video games. This focus group also widely appreciated the fact that the protagonist was a blind character.  Trope aside, they liked the connection between the lack of game visuals and the perspective of the game’s main character.   For this group, the connection was personal and has been described as “important”.Now, for many of you on this forum (those who have been playing audio games for years) do not despair!  We intend to create a game that has depth and nuance.  We will have multiple difficulty modes to challenge more advanced players;  Along with our protagonist, there will be multiple, fully fleshed out blind characters in the game world, that represent the diversity within the blind community;  And finally, a little secret: It is our intention to make follow-up games that will include full visual gameplay… where players may chose to create blind or sighted characters.  Playing as a sighted character will still be fully accessible, while choosing a blind character will remove game visuals during combat and exploration to provide novelty for sighted gamers looking for new challenges.  I believe this is immersion and representation at its best. Please feel free to weigh in on our game plan for The Vale, and I’m hoping we’ll have something available soon for you all to try out!

Re: desafio mortal

hi. everyone seems to miss something really obvious here. Aprone wrote:MODERATIONI apologize that this has taken so long, but there is finally a decision about Desafio Mortal and the question of stolen code. The moderator team has been watching this topic unfold for quite some time.  Evidence has been collected and debated from multiple angles, often requiring a large amount of time.  While many people here have chosen their sides based on odd bits of evidence, the moderator team has had access to considerably more information than almost everyone here.  With that being said, I am not sharing an opinion here, I am sharing a determination based on overwhelming evidence. The developers of Desafio Mortal did in fact use Mason's stolen code.  From the very beginning they have lied about using it.  It appears they did not know about this forum's rule against using it, and because the stickied thread covering this rule somehow got itself moved, we have to give them the benefit of the doubt. The servers went offline because the developers decided it would be best to tear out all of the stolen code and recode it themselves.  Shame that wasn't done from the very start, but it is a step in the right direction.Megadimensao is not being banned because we must assume that he did not see the forum's stance on using Mason's code before he made his post.Until a future time when Desafio Mortal no longer appears to be using Mason's stolen code, it will not be supported here on this forum.  We respect and support our relatively small group of audio game developers, and the theft of their work will not be condoned.  As has been said before, we can not and would not try to stop people from playing this game.  Anyone that is not bothered by this game's beginnings, is welcome to play the game, but I do ask that it not be distributed here on the message board.  Talking about something is fine, but "supporting" it is another thing entirely.  If people post actual links to where this game can be downloaded, the links will be removed.I do apologize for how long it took for an official decision to be made.  This thread is being closed but not deleted, because for all the drama, plenty of beneficial posts have been made.  If another moderator later decides that this thread should be either unlocked or deleted, then they are welcome to make the change.the topic can be found here

Re: learning to eddit?

virtual recorder doesn't play files, it just records them, I put the prefix VRE- on it, so all my files start with that, so I just have to look at the numbers to see which is the latest one. It is also possible to record with goldwave or reaper by engaging their loopback modes. I would recommend reaper for editing as well, but its kind of like the bike with no training wheels maybe something like gold wave first.

Re: Escargot MSN Server (Windows Live Messenger "Reborn!")

Before I answer @nuno69's question, looks like I have a thread title to update! Thanks to the below URL:http://www.howtoescargot.ml(a "phan site" for "Escargot MSN info,) looks like there is a revival "MSN Spaces" too! Now, about MSN Messenger history in a nutshell.Started in 1999 as the "MSN Messenger Service," followed by the most comon name of "MSN Messenger." In 2005 till its "original" end in 2014, it was called "Windows Live Messenger" do to a "branding" change. In addition, WLM for a time, also partnered up with "Yahoo Messenger!"Think of the "Microsoft Network Messenger" like "Skype," but "way cooler!" Oh, I should mention, Microsoft bought Skype in 2011, and in 2013 they were fazing out the "original" messenger servers.
