Hello there everyone, karate25 here. Now don't say that Kool_Turk, it's not a moot point about building, I think I am going to have building in our world but it'll be done by machines I think. In other words, if you have the credits to build a building, you can have it built and I'm even going to give you the ability to purchase buildings and empty land too so you can build on it. As a matter of fact, I'm just going to scrap the outline I've got right now since quite frankly there isn't much of it, and start fresh now that we know there won't be a storyline but rather just a world that you're living in and I'll simply focus on things to do inside the world that you can do to make which ever kind of life for yourselves you so choose. So when he comes on your square you can hold down the spacebar and do a lot of damage until he moves away.Another tip is to use the remote controlled missile to fire explosions at him

Hoya!I'm glad to announce that among other packs I'm coding, Flexible Survival has seen some love in the work. I can't tell when exactly it'll be out, but I ensure you all that it's progressing rather quickly.However, There's a question some of you may be able to enlighten me. Is there a way to change the default, normal combat output to text? Combat sounds currently depend on damage instead of power because for some reason, there's this weird spacing problem that makes me unable to make sounds depend on powers. I remember combat output back then wasn't like that. May be I misremembered it, or just went away from the game for too long and couldn't remember a way to change it to something better. If there's a way, please enlighten me. It's useful both for coding and writing read me for basic configuration in the game.

There is a setting for a briefer combat display, but it should all be text, there is just lots of it, though since combat is entirely %100 turn based that doesn't matter as much. Sounds for powers would be cool, but yee gods there are lots of powers ;D. What would be helpful in flexible survival terms would be a soundpack which could reduce some of the combat output, just letting you know who used what power when, and for how much damage, after all you can check resistances etc with  the status command.

I'm curious about the currency and what if we want a farm or something like that? Can we muy livestock and sell eggs, that sort of thing? Do I have the concept right? Also why not have certain words display certain things, if you can put a sound in it you can put a word spoken in it, like Green door  or rosebush  or blue cheese, whatever it is.  Say  I'm zipping through a virtual store and as I examine the shelves it says bread or milk or  something of the sort. There can't be sounds for all of that, truly blue cheese is a rather quiet  sort.A

Conveying detailed information to a player

Most of the code I write makes use of coordinates and vectors to describe the players and objects locations, velocities and similar information. My main issue is that exposing this raw data to the player rapidly turns the games into basic coordinate matching exercises, is there other non visual ways to convey this information to the player that works when needing to reach exact areas?

Hello there. Well, another way I've experienced for some games are audio based beacons. You mark the spot you want to reach, and the game gives the player a continuous sound either a humming or bip you may follow to go to said location. Usually it is a straight path to the destination, and the player still have to go around obstacles and buildings to keep following the sound.Best regards, Haramir.

Christmas bonuses in games?

Okay as its that time of year I thought it might be fun to have a chin wag about what seasonal bonuses are around in various online and offline games. I had the idea for this when Silver dollar presented me with a honky tonk version of jingle bells, plus christmas whoopass as opposed to the regular version.There is of course lots of stuff going on in alteraeon as I see (I logged in today for my advent gift), and hopefully I'll get back to the game to participate in some of that (I enjoyed the demons of spite last year, though goodness knows how the game has changed since then). Anyone else got some favourite xmas or other seasonal stuff happening in games at the second?

Well, you've actually touched on one of the things that I was going to put into the world. I was going to have bio domes where you could grow all manner of crops big and small. Everything from fruits and vegetables such as those found in your backyard garden, clear on up to fruit trees, so I suppose that you could have livestock inside of one of your bio domes. And as for shops, these aren't shops that you're used to where you're walking around in them scanning the shelves, but rather, they're shopping kiosks that you stock with goods and they're all computerized. So I hope this answers some of your questions.

I just made it so the sounds are based on how much damage is dealt. 0-20=light, 21-40=medium, 41+=heavy. Is this good enough?:)

If you're using Skype 8, it has a decent call recorder feature. Anyone can initiate a recording and everyone else is notified that you've started recording. When you stop the recording or end the call, the recording is made available in the chat for everyone to download for 30 days. Assuming you don't use video, the files are relatively small. I have a 31 MB recording that's about 32 minutes long. You can either play the videos directly or save them to your downloads folder. I believe it also works on Skype for iOS and Android, so that's a plus.I'm actually starting to get used to Skype 8. The interface isn't as clean, but it works better than I thought on Windows. It's horrible on macOS.

@Daigonite:Keep up the good work, was really impressed with the demos. I have a full-time job, so I know how that can cramp anyone's schedule. The marketing switch makes sense, it's sad to say. Even marketing  as an accessible game might have the same stigma attached to it. When many people hear "accessible game" it seems to translate as "game for the disabled." This is a pet peeve of mine, so I'll try not to rant, but accessible means that anyone, sighted or not, can use a game or app. I can see that this is the idea you're promoting buy creating this game. Again, keepup the good work, and I would gladly pay for any product you  release.

Funnily enough, it actually is more responsive on Android 9.0 Pie than it was on Kitkat! Lol! Guess that goes to show how good compatibility really is, because when they fix something/add something new they don't break anything in the process. Which explains why 4.4 Kitkat is still somewhat of a reliable Android revision for folks who's phones are stuck on that.

By the way, Audio Archery is live on the l-works page. Just don't download it with your phone's browser; for whatever reason Chrome on Android tries to treat the apk like a zip and disassemble it as if it were a zip file. just copy it to your phone or install it remotely through ADB.At any rate,download it here,and enjoy!

That message is probably the most annoyingly confusing message in the game. What it really means is that the game couldn't make an internet connection. It should really say "Unable to check for updates", or "Unable to connect to VGStorm HQ".

In terms of contents and complexity, no audio or video game can be as expansive, imaged and complex as a mud can.2. Some muds with auto-quests, auto-combat, auto-explore...auto anything that makes the game simpler and boring by any mean.3. I'm all for anything as long as its contentful, though right now admittedly complex zombie post apocalyptic seems to really lack for some reason.

It says so for a reason. It says unable to setup vireless connection, which I admit could say something like unable to connect to the server, but then it says you may still be able to use this feature because even without the server, if the issue is only that it cannot connect then you can share your IP and play, and if the issue is that you have no Internet connection then you can still play locally with a friend over the same network. However, if the same message is announced when checking for updates then that's definitely an oversight.

The croak voice is essentially the default eSpeak voice with the flutter setting set to 20 (the flutter setting controls the croakiness in the voice).

An open issue For TDV on GitHub here is requesting an option to turn off the RIO. Can someone help me out here and record an option for this? I'm not a sound designer and don't have the software and time to play with wave files, so if you do record the file please clean it up. It will go in the main game options, the menu that's recorded by Chase. So if you can put the headset effect on it like the other menu options are sounding, that'll be great. Thanks anyone for your help!Also, male or female voice is fine; it doesn't matter your gender. Please no synthesized voice.

I have just updated my free accessible diary to include calendars for 2018, 2019 and 2020.  I was a fan of day by day professional and I am glad to hear it is now free.  I have tried to design my diary to be as quick and easy as possible, but the downside is that it is only for windows.  Would be interested what folks think of it, strangely with nearly 1000 downloads it is one program I have had virtually no comments about.

Getting started with coding audiogames in Python?

Hi all!As much as I like _javascript_ for audiogames, it's gotten to the point where I'd like to try other cross platform, more advanced alternatives which support things like multithreading, etc.I've been looking at Python but so far I've had no success, because mostly I've come across outdated libraries like audiogameKit3 and stuff like that whose latest versions are from 2017.Does anyone have more modern stuff that we can use?Maybe someone here has coded something and we can exchange ideas?Let me know!

Hi.I wouldn't use audiogameKit3, mainly because it isn't a mainstream library. That said, having libraries from 2017 doesn't mean it's outdated (that solely depend on the library on question).I would use eather pygame or pysdl2 for ui,, some form of open al (or fmod) for audio and steel f( or accessible output2 from q) for screen reader output.These are most of the external game related libraries you would need, anything else is in the standard library (well stuff like making data files in json and such).Hope it helpsNicklasMCHD
