For example Nail, I can never here if he says A3 or B3, when he wants you to go to a runway.I think Marshal, in the english ground control, and Silke in the German, is best, because they actually say: Alpha or Bravo before the runway number.It should be noted that on regular airport scans/radio talk, the runways are phonetically named/called out whenever a flight controller or ground control staff member contacts a pilot to use a runway.Not sure if it is like that all over the world, but most of the american and South African airlines I have scan access to, works like that.So the unclear people should probably be forced to speak in phonetics as well. If a plain should taxy to A3, they should be forced to state Alpha3, or if said plane should taxy to B3, it should be called out as Bravo3. It just makes it easier for those who, has either a hearing problem, or can't hear what the controler said if he or she just spoke the letter. Do you mean the screenreader or the sound itself? I have it running in a VM from an ISO install,and the sound isn't that bad once you find a sound setting you like. I was thinking of using Time of Conflict because you can create your own units and maps, ovviously it's difficoult to recreates territoryes or the cards that are in the real game but it could be a good map and a kind of new challenge for the TOC players. Re: A question about computers. Good suggestions! Definitely keep a lookout of how many programs you've installed and how big they are, or how many other files you have on the computer. Emptying recycle bin, clearing Windows update cash, clearing system restore points, clearing temp files etc. are all good things to start with. And speaking of clearing temp files, I normally use cCleaner to clean a lot of crap up. There are probably better programs for this, but C Cleaner always find things that disc cleanup didn't. The only thing I really don't like about it is that it has a realtime monitoring component now that automatically starts with Windows, and I don't know how to disable it. Every time I try, it re-enables itself.If you are still struggling to free space, another option is to look for programs specifically designed to show you which files and folders are taking up the most space. Then you can of course deal with them on a case-by-case basis. That said, I don't have personal experience with any of these programs. The best I can tell you is that some of them will probably try to show you a diagram which will obviously be difficult to navigate with a screen reader. I tried one a few years ago with this result, and just never got around to trying others. since I keep obsessive track of my files and mentally catalog roughly how big they are, and since I have way too much hd space these days, I rarely find myself needing this kind of tool, but I would recommend looking into it if you need it.If those things still aren't getting you the space you feel you should have, there are a few more ideas, but they're really only appropriate if Windows is installed on a small drive, such as an SSD that's 120 gigs or something. If you're on a 500 gig drive for instance, then these ideas wont' help you so much because the percent of space you'll end up saving is smaller, and generally you want to keep 10 percent or more of your Windows drive free, so a few gigs here and a few gigs there isn't enough to clean up a full large drive.First, if you don't need hybernate, it can clear up a few gigs I think if you disable it. A few months ago I found a simple command that you enter into cmd that disables it, but I can't remember what it is. A bit of research should help if you want to try that.You could also try messing with the page file settings. I don't know how to get to them on Windows 8, however.From what I understand, a page file is basically a file on the hard drive that is used as extra fake ram. It generally is a few gigs in size. Windows is set by default to manage the page file settings automatically, but it might be worth lowering the maximum page file size to free space on the drive. Some people say that you can disable the page file completely with no harm, but I am not that brave. I generally elect to keep mine at a maximum of 2 gigs in size. By default, mine was allocating 16 gigs of space. ON my 120 gig ssd, that's a fair amount! If you need a huge page file because you are frequently running out of ram, I'd say you'd be better off lowering the page file and getting more ram if that's possible. Unfortunately on a lot of budget machines it's not possible to change the ram though.Since I don't know what kind of computer and setup you're on, I can't really recommend anything too specific for your case, but I hope these ideas are helpful. To start narrator, you hit ctrl + windows + enter. Just try that key combination every once in a while and wait until you hear speech. If you use your builtin pc speakers, Windows setup might also start using cortana, depending on the language selected. Then it'll start asking questions automatically.2. No, the upgrade won't whipe your hard drive *if* everything runs correctly. So do make backups. If you have the means though, keep as little as possible, reinstall your programs and copy back your files from another hard disk. That'll start you off with a clean slate and ensure that no old junk get's taken along3. If you choose to do an upgrade install anyway nvda should come up talking. I've only had it fail in a few edge cases.4. You can download windows in several ways, the media creation tool can be used, you can also download an iso file directly which can either be booted or it can be mounted and setup.exe can be started from inside windows.5. To my knowledge, only bsc games break. Aprone's games andd kitchensinc games work correctly.In addition, can you give us the name and model number of your laptop, and/or it's specifications? You're just as protected when buying from a seller via ebay as you are via Amazon. Most of those millions of refurbished computers are there because people get rid of them after two years because they've slowed down. All sellers have done to most of them to call them refurbished is test them, reinstall the OS, and give them a wipe with a damp rag. You just need to swap out the drive and you're set. Most of us want everything brand new and bang up-to-date, so a lot of that stuff on ebay is in perfect condition. The more you shop on there, the more you find this out. I've bought tons of stuff off ebay, including two so-called refurbished small form factor dells for under 140GBP (177USD), and they both work fine. I've had one for around two years, and the other for nearly a year. I'm now completely confident buying used desktops on ebay. If they're faulty and it wasn't mentioned in the description, we're protected and we'll get our money back. Enterprise F Goes Into Battle Hi all,As some of you might have seen from my post yesterday, I recently created a new sound sequence, just for fun, that I figured I might share with you all. As some of you may also know, I'm a die-hard Star Trek fan, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to any of you that said sequence is set in the Star Trek universe. This is my take on what it would sound like if an imaginary USS Enterprise, NCC 1701F, went into battle against a mystery enemy ship. The voice-over is borrowed from the game Star Trek Legacy, as it makes the overall scenario a lot more involved, but the sound design itself is a mixture of sounds from the Star Trek TNG/DS9/VOY shows, which I have redesigned to showcase my idea of what the next "Next Generation" would sound like.I hope you all enjoy the results! Re: win frots tts Yes you should just grab the newest version of Frotz, then the (automatic output for interactive interpreters) NVDA add-on from Jef's add-on repository, and then just open Frotz, hit control P and check the fast scrolling box if it's not already and you'll be good to go. At that point you can hear incoming text and use the NVDA object nav keys to review previous text.Just remember that for frotz, you can't hit enter on a game in windows explorer to open it, you need to access it by opening frotz, then loading one.And if your getting previous text mixed in with your output, use NVDA+shift+right and left arrow until that goes away.But it does also support Sapi, as mentioned.This add-on works with Win Git, HTML TADS, and a few others though too, and Glulx games in particular are probably even more numerous than ZCode ones.If you don't already know about it, check out IFDB.tads.org for new games, they have user lists and a rating system along with the search feature. It's a very small console which comes with two controllers, HDMI port and it's powered by using a standard USB charger.The console comes with 20 pre-installed ps1 games. Embedded compact is, as its name suggests, compact voices you'd see in embedded systems (handhelds, or by today's standards not so new smartwatches.) As you can tell, the compact voices are actually becoming quite nice. Pro, or what is often referred to as plus, is basically standard/standard high from the Automotive era. And high is, well, premium high. I don't know if this is necessarily allowed (not sure the terms of their contract) but a trial would be nice, even if it was like a ten minute trial or something (think mobile speak/talks) just to test different configurations on different installations. Twenty to thirty bucks is, admittedly steep, but this is not Oralux's fault at all. Other distributions that charge $60 to $100 are clearly out for some profit, but they have made it clear since the Viavoice days that they are only charging because of licensing fees (which was why Eloquence was 5 bucks.) Matter of fact they made good on refunding me when I accidentally bought Viavoice without realizing it wasn't arm-ready thus wouldn't work on my pi. Not quite ready to be a daily driver, but good for experimentation. Which is fantastic, because unlike Shine Plus they really don't have the field to themselves as talkback rapidly improves. The fact they realized that and made the extra elements like this supposed app-bar, per-app gesture configuration, actual interactive screen ocr? and all this makes it actually stand up to its price. Now it seems to take longer to get the keys all set up and at least heere, the menu for software presets is behaving weirdly, okay it defaults to Gnome, fine, so I hit that,/pkg: Line 1. Unexpected token error. Which carries on over and over and over and over again. For some reason, if I try to sroll the menu it just snaps right back Gnome as a choice.
