Re: Collecting Data From Those Under 16 Appears To Violate Netherlands Law

Emails and posts, but from what I understand, both are considered data. I don't like it either. I know that if an over-16 age limit were put in place, we'll lose some mature members who add to this community in a good way, and it really sucks to lose that.

Collecting Data From Those Under 16 Appears To Violate Netherlands Law

Collecting Data From Those Under 16 Appears To Violate Netherlands Law

I've been researching laws surrounding the age at which someone can consent to data processing for an unrelated project. If I've done my research correctly, a parent or guardian must consent to the processing of a minor's data if that minor is under the age of 16 in Europe and in The Netherlands or if a service is hosted there. If this is indeed correct, will AudioGames.net implement an age restriction to ensure compliance given the crackdowns on other illegal activity on this forum and given the influx of younger users who are joining?References:Art. 8 GDPR – Conditions applicable to child's consent in relation to information society servicesNetherlands - National GDPR Implementation Overview (relevant section is 5.1. Solved: Forum Stuck IN Mobile View

**Issue solved by resetting zoom to 100%.**For some reason, the forum is stuck in a more compact view meant for mobile devices, and I can't figure out how to return the site to its full layout. I'm using Firefox 71.0 (64-bit) as my browser and have made sure that the Firefox window is maximized. Any suggestions for returning the forum to it's standard layout, or is this an issue with PanBB?

Navigation Menu Broken in Mobile View

2019-12-29 Thread AudioGames . net ForumSite and forum feedback : TheGreatCarver via Audiogames-reflector

Navigation Menu Broken in Mobile View

This has been an issue since around the time the AudioGames.net forum migrated to PanBB, but it never really impacted me much so I left it. It appears that PanBB broke the navigation menu at the top of the page when displaying in its mobile view. Before migration, there was a link with what I believe was a multiplication symbol which expanded the menu, but this functionality does not seem to be present now. This can be especially frustrating when trying to use the forum from a device such as an iPhone, or in my case, if you're stuck in the compact mobile view for some strange reason.Edit: Fixed typo in topic subject.

Stopping The Fighting and Improoving As A Forum: A Discussion

2019-07-26 Thread AudioGames . net ForumSite and forum feedback : TheGreatCarver via Audiogames-reflector

Stopping The Fighting and Improoving As A Forum: A Discussion

Hi All,Over the past 12 days, I've spent time away from technology and life at home, partially to reflect on my life, the choices I and others make as people, how these actions are perceived by others, and how these actions affect the world. I came back to this forum hoping that I would find a community that was beginning to right itself and get back on track. Instead, I found more bickering, arguing and nitpicking from almost everyone including myself, and I am thoroughly disheartened at what I see.A few years ago when I joined, I felt The AudioGames.net Forum provided an avenue to discuss the creation and development of audio games and to provide us as a community with the means to interact, share knowledge and find support from blind, visually impaired and sited peers alike. Today, I see a forum that has devolved into a snarling, fighting mess that is straying away from that purpose. Our collective mistrust and bad faith have become unhealthy and unsustainable for the larger community, both in how we interact with each other and how we are perceived by outsiders looking in.Furthermore, I feel that everyone here is seeing the problem, but we're not really trying to break the loop: someone attacks someone else for any reason, the person attacked tries their best to defend their actions and opinions, often attacking others in the process intentionally or unintentionally, the community takes sides, and everything repeats. I, along with most all of us, have been part of this loop at one time or another. Rather than investing our energy into thinking of how we can make small, positive change in an effort to better our group, we're inadvertently choosing to continue the constant bickering and infighting which serves no purpose other than to rile everything up and cause hate and discontent, and I've had enough of it.So, I pose a question to all of you. How can we, as a community, work to clean up the mess and return to what I hope is our original purpose, if I understand it correctly? I for one feel that we all must be more mindful of the weight our words and actions carry, both in an immediate sense and a more long-term sense. We should be mindful that we are different in our values, our thought processes, and how they shape our actions. We should be more respectful of this fact. basically, we all need to think before we type. I feel this would greatly improve the forum, but these are only my thoughts on the subject, and we need to work on this together as a community. To conclude, I don't think this forum is a bad place, nor do I feel that its inhabitants are inherently predisposed to fighting and taring each other down at every chance. However, I also feel that the atmosphere here has taken a sharp downhill turn, and we seriously need to evaluate our actions and how we treat each other in order to keep this forum a healthy, supportive environment.I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on how we can improve as a forum and as a community.

Re: Just a Quick note

Your comment about not being informed regarding a decision is the worst excuse I've heard in my life. If you are uninformed with regard to an issue, especially one as significant and important as the Walter issue, you abstain from the vote And let moderators who know what they're dealing with make the decision. You didn't do that. Instead, you voted, and that vote sent a message. You may not have intended that message to be sent, but it was sent. And now, your excuses make you look even more incompetent and deceitful.Jade, if you have a problem with us as a community judging your actions, you should have never taken this position. Because of your job, your actions will be judged, and you came in here and made a complete ass of yourself and basically promoted the status quo. This forum is even more draconian, hostile, provocative and toxic now than it ever was before if you want my honest opinion, and your constant ego trips, I-am-God posts, and snivels about character assassination whenever you're called out sets a piss-poor example for this community. Frankly, I believe you should step down as administrator and hand the forum over to someone more qualified and less egotistic.

This is so stupidly unnecessary it beggars belief. Use the report function. I assure you, people will look at your report. Also, if I'm interpreting your post correctly, you're saying that mahdi-abedi should be banned for causing drama. By that logic, you should also be on thin ice for creating this post considering the unnecessary drama it has created. You're setting a double standard and you should really think before you type, because it will come back to bite you. I've learned that the hard way.

Re: Request a name change version 2

Well... I will have to disagree with you on that one. No, Polaris would be the name I would stick with. As I game with this name, it will be easier for forum users to find me on a specific game. They see a post by me as polaris. They then see me on undead Assault or something like that as polaris, and most likely will associate that name with the forum. I normally would just leave this one alone, but I feel it would make not only forum identification easier, but also in game identification. I understand why username changes are a problem. IF you just let people change there names whenever they want, it would be a disaster both for admins and users alike. But polaris would be here to stay, and you can bet money on that.

I would count this as my first name change because the automated system botched my request so I had to apply for the original nickname I wanted at the time. So...
