Ok, just purchased the game and have played a lot of it in the last eighteen hours.  My wife is grumbling at me, which is of course your fault Chee.  I have some questions.Will it be possible to race more than one AI opponent?  A match race is only so interesting.Related: in multi-player mode, will it be possible to race more than one opponent simultaneously?For track design, it would be cool to have an additional variable on curves that influences the rate at which the optimal lean needs to change, simulating curves with different radii.  A 180 turn could be excellent if you had to slam the lean over.  As it is now, the change is rather slow even at the highest speeds.Having to hit the arrow keys to refuel is fiddly and requires odd movements, either taking my hand off the mouse or the status keys.  I'd rather have an automated fueling procedure with beeps every hundred pounds until full.  As it is, my pit stops 
 are killing me.Art does not appear to make use of power-ups when they are available.  In aprticular, I designed a long track with a fuel power-up about half way through the lap.  I almost never have to pit now that I've mastered picking up the fuel power-up, whereas ARt is having to pit every three or so laps on my track.  I would think that at higher difficulty levels (I'm playing on pro) that ARt would be able to use the power-ups more intelligently.On tag race mode, I am getting numerous messages that the game is not responding, even while it is in fact playing.  This happens frequently between tag rounds, though not during normal races.This is a cool racing game.  Like I said it's causing marital friction, which is a fantastic indicator of a game's play value.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=166981#p166981

Hi ya Violinist,  Glad you are liking the game, its been a lot of work for an amateur programmer and sometimes seems like I'm never going to reach the end of the tunnel, but we're very close now.  Regarding your questions:  For single player mode, there will only be one opponent.  For multi player there can be up to 20 racers at once.   I've considered the idea of variable curves, but I got lots of complaints that RR 1 was too hard to learn as it was, plus for those using keyboard input, which is the majority, it would introduce control issues.  I'll look into the non response thing in tag mode, haven't seen that on my end, but honestly haven't done a lot of testing in tag mode since putting in new code.  As for the AI, art still needs smartening up as far as the new power ups go.  I try to make the AI do things just as a racer has to, in other words, the game does 
 not cheat for Art, he has to accelerate and shift gears, makes mistakes when jumping, etc.  Because of that, it takes a while to balance everything when I change his thought process on new items such as power ups.  Bottom line, he'll be smarter by the time we go to full release.  Thanks for the feedback and questions, hope to have a new patch out very soon.  Happy racing,  CheURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=167428#p167428

Hmmm, didn't seem all that hard after the first few moments.  Without variable radius turns, there is a lot less interest than would be created between that grand, sweeping 180 and that ridiculously tight hairpin that wants you to slow down even before the curve starts to avoid damage.  I wonder how many people still use keyboard control at this point?URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=167580#p167580

Hi all,I must say, I like the improvements to RR, though admittedly the last time I played it was about three years ago when it was still big.Does anyone know how to unzip the RR34 Patch? I really don't know how Windows seven's unzip extracter works but I figured I would go ahead and paste the stuff in the folder and override it. However, I get sound errors about grade changes and nitro sounds not being found. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I'll subscribe to the list in a bit but curious if I was doing something wrong or what.I do like the curve turn improvements. I'm able to take curves faster now, that is if I don't listen to the gear info and shift up when it tells me to right before a curve. Never shift before a curve because you'll just end up taking it slower. I seem to be developing that habbit as it says shift up and I just do it without thinking sometimes. Well, I'm getting okay lap times, considering it's be
 en about three years and even then, I didn't play hardcore. I probably won't play hardcore with this one, but I'll play more.Also, what does the message mean version checks out when going online? Tried hitting F1 for help and nothing.I'm also curious: Why doesn't this game work with System access? Sa Tools was installed which is supposed to interface with all screen readers, but with SA, I went into control options and it didn't read the options right. I am going to assume from the tone of the post that crash master is Sean Everest from the gamers list.  If not, my advanced apologies for what follows, but I don't think I've misidentified here.  If so, Sean, I allowed you on the beta team for RR 1, you never paid a penny for the game, and you provided no useable feedback, then later on you blasted me and my site, as well as my games on the gamers list, something you continually do to most developers.  The reason you didn't get any more licenses is because frankly giving you one was a total waste of time, and you've ben an ingrate ever since, not to mention the disinformation you've spread about my games.  One reason I rarely check the gamers list anymore is because of crap post like yours that do nothing but belittle the hard work of independent game developers, while providing nothing of usefulness.  Nobody that bought RR 1 and asked for replacement

I thought Rail Racer 2 would never be developed, so I am really excited to see it and will purchase it as soon as I am able!I loved Rail Racer 1 when it was out. At that time, as far as I knew, there was only one other racing game that allowed online play, Top Speed so that was why I bought the game. Plus, I loved the force fields, loops etc. All very knew concepts to me at that time and I haven't seen another racing game incorporate them since. I haven't read everything about RR2 yet, but is there mouse support? I believe mouse support was in RR1 as well. I didn't use it much if at all, though. However, I would like to try it out now that I have played Swamp a bit. LOL.Don't let the losers get you down. There are a lot of people who appreciate the hard work that goes into making games, especially those people like me that couldn't program to save their lives. Heh. There was a problem with the patch on some systems, but it is fixed now.  You can email me at:blindadrenal...@gmail.com  JonnyBoy, the only real requirements are an XP or later system compatible with direct X.  If you have a system over ten years old, there can be an issue with DX, depending on graphics card apparently.   Out of several dozen orders, I've had 2 XP systems built before 2003 that are failing, and I'm not sure what the fix is yet.  If your not sure, you may want to wait on the demo, which will verify the game will run for sure, demo should hopefully be out in January.  ThankscheURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=158308#p158308

Hi dan,  Actually that audio demo is for RR 1, RR 2 is gonna be way cooler than that, especially with the power ups available in track creation now, they will make racing a lot more strategic, especially when racing others online.  I used to race a lot of online simulations when I could see, over 12 years ago, and I've tried as best I can to replicate that experience with Rail Racer.  Just a few more bugs and tweaks to go, and we'll be ready for a proper final release.  Later taters,  CheURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=158312#p158312

You guys this game is really fun, I had a bit of time early on helping test this, but I got side tracked with school. Even so though, it is deffinatly worth purchasing. Lots of nifty things to adjust and factor in when racing others and even the AI is difficult.it's no longer just go as fast as you can in a circle!No more, "They're making another left turn!", I guarantee that you guys will enjoy it, and remember the online play is one of the best parts of this game, so be sure to hone your skills up. I am anxiously waiting until I am able to get this game, but I do have one major concern. The reason I quit playing RR 1 was because if I remember right, your key could only be used on one machine, at which point you had to purchase another key for the same price if you wanted to put it on your laptop, if your machine had to be reformatted or what have you. If the key for RR 2 is also a one-use key, this will be very disappointing to me and would make me not want to purchase it. Hi guys, some answers for the last few posts:gaita, as I replied before, please email off list about your problem and we will get it fixed, I don't do tech support on forums, it causes too much traffic, you can email me at:blindadrenal...@gmail.com  As to the 404 error, I am getting that fixed, just know that the purchases are going through, so no worries there.  Regarding the licenses, for RR 1 I sent out lots of replacement keys upon request, and as far as I know, nobody was refused a replacement. Hi Jonny boy,  The multi player is hosted on my own dedicated server, which also hosts the blind adrenaline card room, where you can now play cribbage online btw.  By using a dedicated server with over 99 percent uptime, we get the best performance and reliability.    It isn't cheap, but it is worth it for sure, and the card room subscriptions and price of RR keep it going.  We will be holding regularly scheduled races online soon , and I am considering starting a forum just for online racing announcements.  By the way, I included a new user track in the last RR 2 update called corckscrew, I need feedback on that track so it can be tweaked, then I will make it official so we can race it online.   It is a cool track, and used both grade angles and nitro power ups, so you have to manage your nitros and fuel to get the best times.  It is close to official, but I need to know what others think befor

I totally understand the need to not allow people to get to unlock the full game without paying for it. It's too much of a project to not get paid for. I think nobody who's even the slightest bit intelligent could argue with that. yeah, or even make it sound like a radio. don't have it sounding hi quality like you would think. make it sound like it's coming over your car / pod's radio system. lol. and that would also cut down on bandwidth used to have the voice system, and you would only have to have it at rather low quality levels. kinda like what zello does on iOS. that would be awesome! that of course is another option for us to use, is zello. but it would be so much easier to have something built in, if it's possible, / if it isn't going to make things to hard for che. on the other hand, it owuld likely have to wait till a new version, as this one is basicly done. don't want to go adding something new now, to complicate the already most ready system.URL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=158561#p158561

Hi guys,  As mentioned, you can use team talk, which also goes through my dedicated server.  The host iswww.blindAdrenaline.com  and the ports are default.  As for running multi player races, I am considering starting a different forum thread just for posting races, what do you guys think of that?  This way, we don't clutter up this thread which is designed for more general comments and updates about the game.  Finally, check the changeLog.txt file in your rail racer folder for all recent changes, including power ups. hi, yeah, something for online race meetups would be the way to go i think.now, che, i have a few things to question here. first, how do you break now, with the mouse. gone through some of those force fields, and i can't seem to break, no matter what i do.secondly, seem to be having some problems with the mouse curser moving around on the screen, reading things out during the race. lol. now either that's a new thing, or it's cause i'm using nvda.but i never seem to see this happen in swamp. so i am wondering how aprone made it so you don't seem to be able to mouse out of the swamp screen?and finally, just to confirm something i noticed, but am not 100 percent sure of, is the game now basicly peddle to the mettle? in other words, is there a need to slide forward to accelerate, or is it now always full speed ahead? because while using the mouse, i can't seem to break, let alone slow down. on keyboard, i can break while over 150 as tal

[ a-t ] darkSide, read the change log a little more, and you would see this one a fare way down. not having a go at you, cause i missed something yesterday too. lol.here it is.coppied straight from the change log.  added power rings to the track creator, so now a power ring can be included when you create a track.  There is a new user track included in the update called power up, so you can check it out, it has 3 sections, the second section has a nitro power up and the 3rd has a fuel power up.  The way this works is you define the point at which a  power ring will be inserted, and select which type of power up it will be, either nitro or fuel.  As with the other track items, you'll hear an indication a power ring is coming up in 2 seconds, and to grab the power up, you'll need to jump between 30 and 60 feet as you pass the power ring.  This will either give you a single nitro, or a full fuel re fil

Regarding the power ups, here is how that works:  You will hear the indication that a power up is coming 2 seconds before you get to it. Right now, you'll just have to learn that sound by running the track, on the corkscrew track, which is in user tracks, it comes up after the loop.  You want to be between 30 and 60 feet when you pass the power up. depending on which power up was placed on the track, you could get either a nitro or a full fuel reset.  Use these wisely, if its fuel, you'll rarely need to get it more than once, so don't waste time jumping when you don't need it.  Similarly, nitros burn 100 pounds of fuel each time you use them, so be careful with that z key.  One other note, in case you missed it in the change log, you now use both mouse buttons at once to slow down, the only time you need to do this is when slowing for a force field, otherwise, the pedal is to the metal.  Ha

Che, did you ever considered making your car alghorithm a bit better? Well, it's working like recording a engine which is tone up and up. After that we have a lot of small samples which we can use in algorhytm to connect these in real time when you are accelerating and doing other actions. it's used in most racing tittles and for now it's a standard. Hey all,  As far as the complexity goes, there will be new audio tutorials for sure. The complexity ramps up as you move up in class level and unlock new upgrades to the racer.  For instance, there are no hills or force fields at class 1, so you don't have to worry about those, by class 5, you will have opened tracks that have power ups, force fields, loops and everything else in them.  As far as the engine sounds, the multiple sample model is what I am hoping to go with.  however, it is more complicated to pull off than it would seem.  You would think you could just fade up a sound at a particular RPM, then go to the next one as you fade out, but there is a lot more to it than that.  I have done a lot of work and research on this, and the current release of RR 2 is actually mixing two separate engine sounds as the RPM varies, but I'm not pleased with the results, and right now its just a test bed., 
 the professional game designers have access to tools that sample many more pieces and make their cars sound real.  There is a tool out there that actually takes any car and allows you to get various RPM in various gears, and send it right to their code that models the car audio, its super cool, but obviously I don't have the code they have.  The number of samples isn't the problem really, the problem is me having the time and ability to code the mix properly as RPM goes up and down.  I completely agree that a more realistic engine sound is vital to the enjoyment of the game.  Ideally, this is the model that will be implemented before I am done, but right now, the non critical stuff is taking precedent.  If anyone out there wants to help with samples etc. feel free to email me off list atblindadrenal...@gmail.com  Right now, I'm looking for 3 high quality loopable samples to mix together for the ne

hi@dan_ci never played the Original rail racer, but i tried a demo. i guess this was from the Original rr. and i played swamp a lot, so i was intergrated into the mouse again. i had to get familiar with the sounds for baricades to jump over and the force fields, but when you're familiar to that sounds it isn't that hard to play it.taken with me that i never played the Original rr i found it quite surprising that the demo was so addicting and that toke me to buying the beta for rr2.first i thought i bought a lisence for rr1 but that seemed a lisence for rr2. Honestly I would say it sort of does because of the games you are able to join, for instants if you are a class 1 racer and someone is racing a class 4 track you can't just hop on. Also for the class 4 player, should he decide to come and join your game will not be able to use his upgrades on the class 1 tracks, because as far as I know the only upgrades in class 1 are the nitro ports that you can install on your racer. Of course I could be completely rong, I only know because I baught a copy of rr 1 and still waiting for my key for rr 2. Hey all,  For those that have purchased the RR 2 beta, I have released a new update.  Check the change log for details, but basically this one includes tweaks to the artificial intelligence of Art, as well as a cool new game track we can race online called corkscrew.  This is a class 5 track, so if you have not jumped to class 5 yet, be sure and get up to $50 so you can race it.  It is much easier to move up in classes now, with each class being tied to the 100 k mark. For instance, class 2 is $20, class 4 is $40 and so forth.  Also, you get more money for a win now, especially at the higher difficulty levels.  This new track takes advantage of the ability to include grade angles in the track, as well as a nitro power up.  I myself have not figured out the best way to use nitros and boost on this track, so whoever takes the time to figure out the best way to skin this cat is going to have an advantage when racing online.  I am going to start a new thread on the forums here soon just for posting online races, and anyone is welcome to post there when they want to race online.  For those that have not purchased the beta yet, a free demo is coming soon that will allow you to check the game out and decide if you want to purchase the full version.  For those that have RR 2, here is the link to the patch:http://www.blindadrenaline.com/rrupload … 6patch.zip  Just unzip this to your rail racer folder and your good to go.  This is an all inclusive update, so if you have not updated before, no worries, everything you need is in this patch.  Happy racing,CheURL: http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?pid=161134#p161134
