There is music in that form Nintendo titles, and, even if that wasn't the case, there are sounds in there form several different Nintendo titles. I think the only thing that has saved that game from being a target is that it has been made available for free. Now, regarding Manamon. Even if someone really wanted to try and nail Aaron for copyright infringement then, as I see it, there are some major issues. One of these is that the title, save for the last few letters, is entirely different. Yes, it does borrow ideas from actual Pokemon titles, but then authors tend to do this when it comes to books quite a lot as well and there doesn't seem to be an issue with that.Another thing, VG-storm is not making a humongous profit off of it,so Nintendo wouldn't even find it worthwhile to persue something like this in this particular case.I love these two games, and to see someone try to start trouble like this is repulsive. the same would be said if someone went after Crazy Party. That developer isn't even turning a profit, so there technically would be no issue there. Sounds like we're dealing with another person with too much time on their hands, and an axe to grind. You can copyright very specific implementations of those concepts. It depends on which Nintendo you sent it to, and if you procided enough proof for them to deem it worth going after. Technically it violates "Trade Dress" which is another lesser-known type of intellectual property.The fact that manamon takes so heavily from the pokemon concept for its inspiration means that it imitates the style of the games quite heavily even though it has entirely original music tracks, characters, and sfx. However, the games are close enough in concept to the pokemon series that it can be cited for trade dress infringement. However, trade dress infringement is everywhere and it is rarely prosecuted, even by big companies. Really Disney is the only one that makes heavy use of persuing this kind of intelectual property. For me, trade dress isn't a big deal and I am not a big fan of just reporting it to report it. I consider Manamon, despite its trade dress infringement to be unique enough that it doesn't deserve grief.
