Have you checked the postage cost to Europe? I'm just sending a package
to England and the cheapest rate for a packge over 8 ounces and up to 32
ounces is $22.50.

Just got an email back after I explained that the whole transaction
sucked. I had to wait >month for product, got the wrong product, and I
have to go out of my way to return their product on my day off. All I
got was a "Sorry". Kinda pitiful if you ask me. IMO, manufacturers
should always take the high road if something goes wrong with a
transaction. Needless to say I will never buy anything from them for as
long as I live.

I had a problem with a Audiogd product [DI converter] they sent me a new
one no questions asked. Got it in about a weekfrom China. Had a
problem with an iFi product, they sent me a new product too...in fact
they sent me out a new product that was yet to be released.

I purposely went out of my way not to throw this person/company under
the bus by saying it was a preampbecause I really wanted to give
them the benefit of the doubt without anyone questioning their
products/service. But actually it was a Digi+ product from HiFiBerry.
They probably order a million of these boards at a time and I am sure at
lest than $5 each...this is to say the shipping cost too and from the US
has got to be close to what they paid for the thing. Going the high road
should have been, you know what it was our mistake, keep it and we will
send you what you ordered. Even at full price its peanuts compared to
the amount of products they sale. Sorry HiFiBerry I actually like your
product but due to this event my money will always be spent elsewhere.
In fact I've decided, I'll take the high road and eat their shipping
cost ie pay for their mistake and send it back on my dime.

They will pay return shipping I'm sure as it was an honest mistake, but
I think you are being rather difficult if you are going to invoice them
for returning it when you're not offering an easier collection choice. I
understand your frustration, but mistakes are easy to make and they made
only one. If this was the second or third thing they messed up in the
transaction then that would be the time to get stroppy. Imho.

Well I'm not paying the return shipping fee.

If they want it back they have no choice but to pay return post.

Sucks for them to make a mistake like this.

If the company is outside the UK they do not have to cover the return
postage the The Consumer Rights Act (A UK law) will not apply

Be careful

Thanks for the ideas, but I think the only way is for me to take it to a
post office. My work is not an option, neither is me going to the post
after work.

I think a 20 service fee is reasonable

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] DietPi now has Roon Install Available

2016-11-18 Thread edwardthern

This is great if you have Roon audioplayer.

-DietPi-Process_Tool | Added support for RoonBridge:

~~

Dietpi is the best RaspberryPi [arm board] OS I've found so far, the
automation, tweaks, ease of use, update-ability, size, available
software and stability are all top notch.

As for Roon, I tried it but I can't see paying $500 for some software
that sounds the same as Squeezelite/LMS. Basically imo the cost is just
for the flashy and crowed interface.

Either way give Dietpi a try, you'll love it. [subjectively
speaking]

Then I'd have to wait at home until the post office truck came. He sent
it regular post so I don't think he's willing to spend a lot on UPS, DHL
etc. Where I live the postal people are very VERY undependable [even for
delivering mail] if they say pick up at 10a you will be lucky if its
before 2pif at all.

The product needs to be sent to Europe from the US so declarations etc.
need to be made. This means I can't just drop it in a box and walk away,
I have to actually stand in a line and answer the declarations questions
ie [no bombs, batteries, flammable stuff etc]. Which means I have to
wake up early Sat. morning to be the first one at the post office -or-
I'll have to wait in a Long Long Long very slow line.
