[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Ax 4.0 run as doesn't work

2007-01-22 Thread Agus Riyadi
Dear All,

I wonder why some clients of our network can't run Ax 4.0 using run as
command while some others can.
Currently we are used to login with local client credential. When need to
connect an Ax 4.0 instance in the network, we just right click Dynamic
client select run as, specify network domain credential and it works.

However, some of our colleagues failed with error message saying can not
find the server.

Has anyone experienced the same ? How is the workaround ?

Thanks and regards,

Agus

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Table browser without X++ license code

2007-01-22 Thread James Flavell
Hi everyone,

I recall sometime ago there was postings for an xpo project (or the like)
that provided a table browser without the need for X++ license code

Can anyone point me to where to get it or if not how to get a table browser
in standard Ax without X++ license as my customer would very much like to
have such a function

Thanks

Thanks Harry,

Your reply is good :) ...just not quite good enough for my customer :(

They want to have the option appear in the drop down menu when they right
click on the datasource of a form design in AOT. Basically they have
supervisor users who sometimes need to look into the data and so the easiest
is they do 'Setup/Edit' to get into the AOT and then from there right click
to get table browser. Is this possible without X++

Thanks

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Customers and Vendors in CRM

2007-01-22 Thread David Probst
Yes you add them as a relation type and you can convert them into Customer or
vendor types. In 4.0 dependent on whether you have enabled it in the CRM
parameters

You cannot import them into CRM directly as customers or vendors, you could
import them as relation types and then convert them, however it have to be done
manually for each one, so it may make more sense to import directly into the
customer/vendor tables. They should then be synchronized automatically into the
business relation table.

You can add Customers n Vendors directly in the AP/AR Modules. Then you can
sync ur Business Relations Table which will show these Customers n Vendors.

2007-01-22 Thread futzawm

Hi Harry, thanks for the response. I can't find the line in any of the
BoM journals (there isn't a BoM journal associated with that
particular production which has not been registered). So just to be
sure, would the line in the database you mention be the line in the

Thanks again!

Thanks for your response, Harry. I believe you are referring to the

  Journal: PJ
  Voucher: PV
  Line No: 1
  Item No: 00123

Quantity ordered may not be reduced, as there are not enough stock
  transactions with 'on order' status.
The items are 'Sold', 'Deducted' or 'Picked'.

The production was started with the item in question but another item
was substituted during production. Registration of the picking list
journal was thus done with the item consumption = 0. There are no
transactions with 'Sold', 'Deducted' or 'Picked' status for the item
as referring to that particular production. However, the item
transactions show a quantity equal to the original started quantity
with status 'On Order' for that particular production (therefore, no
reason for the error not enough stock transactions with 'On Order'
status). I saw one earlier response to this type of problem by
fvatne where it was suggested that the problem can be a result of
mismatch between different dimensions. This seemed a logical reason

Can you please check the InventTransID of the problemed Line, to see if that
exists in inventTrans table with status 'Onorder' and the same line exits in
InventJournalTrans table?. I beleive the journal posting is
incomplete/errored/messed up and didnget updated properly.

or if are a techy guy, you might want to put in a debug point near and around

Try not to change dimensions its messy and torublesome.

It is possible but you usua;y either have to take out all the stock, close
the inventory, change dimension setup and bring back in everything.

Of course it depends on the dimension is used for what physical, financial
etc

If I remember correct enabling is better than disabling (if disable then
those existing wil get stuck with the values they have in that dimension and
then its impossible to change them once disabled and so you might not be
able to use them!)

Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Inventory Dimensions

2007-01-22 Thread Hemant Kumthekar
Hi,

I think since you are starting and trying put a layout plan for AX
implementation. I think the first and foremost thing which should be planned is
to define your Inventory. I agree to what James has said, it leads you into
problems when you disable the inventory dimension.

Normally my approach would be to define and categorize the Inventory
(classify), once you do that job, you know which items need warehouse/location
combination (inventory / Spares), which items need only warehouse (misc. Items,
expensed items), and which Items need further more dimension breakdown like
warehouse/location/batch/serial You can edit dimensions but the process of
correcting transactions is painful, and you don't want to go there. Also you
need to take care of the Physical / Financial as mentioned by James.

You can try the xpo i've sent you. I hope it can help you.

Administation - periodic - sql admin? Just copy the menu item to something
else and put in whatever restrictions you want.

Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Table browser without X++ license code

Hi everyone,

I recall sometime ago there was postings for an xpo project (or the like)
that provided a table browser without the need for X++ license code

Can anyone point me to where to get it or if not how to get a table browser
in standard Ax without X++ license as my customer would very much like to
have such a function

Thanks
James

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Inventory Dimensions

2007-01-22 Thread Billur Kardas
Hi Faiga,

You must active dimension which you need to track for items. Otherwise you have
to fill all the dimensions while you are entering dimensions. And once they are
selected and changed the data inside become a trash. So make your analysis
carefully when selecting them.

Editing dimension is a privallage of Axapta. You can change or split the
dimensions of the inventory data that has posted, invoiced or packing slipped.

Hope being helpful.

We are in a process of data collection and basic AX setup. Currently we
don't know which inventory dimensions we should make active for few items.
So we plan to activate all dimensions and will change it afterwards if
desire. Can we do this? Because I have seen if once we assigned a dimensions
to an item and made any transaction against those items then we cannot edit
or change the dimension groups with that item.

Please also explain Edit Dimension function available with item master.

Faiqa

Kindly reply me back with the desired information.
