RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Invoice account vs order account in AR.
In your case the invoice account is not a great solution because as you stated all the A/R transactions are against the invoice account. You can change the setting for the invoice address to go to the order account instead of the invoice account but the transactions are still against the invoice account. Instead, You may want to implement some other type of grouping (maybe a financial dimension or a custom group) and modify the report. Hi, We need to implement the concept of an umbrella account in Axapta. This means that we have a big customer that has many accounts with us. Every account gets its own set of invoices and statement at the end of the month. What we however want to do is also provide the customer with a statement and related invoices for the consolidated head office account (the umbrella account). Also, when we look at our top 100 customers we would like Axapta to look at the value of the umbrella account instead of at the individual accounts. My question is this: Is the invoice account/order account fields the correct place to implement this? It seems to me as if all transactions and all invoices lie against the invoice account even if you post to the order account. Can someone please shed some light on this for me? So we won't be able to login with 2 different users on the same instance on the same machine? * In the upgrade path it says that client CAN run on WinXP. I am trying to see if any one has any experiences on changing the AmountCur and AmountMst to 4 decimals. Here is my scenario. My Europe customer wanted to see 4 digits on Discounts and Qty on Sales Order module. Initially we changed AMountCur and AmountMST, QTy EDTs to 4 decimals and curreny to 4 decimals in the exchange section. Then everything is started shon up to 4 digits and finance people wanted not to see 4 digits. Yes, it true they don;t want . What we did was, we created an extended data type inheriting from AmountCur and AmountMST changing the currency Decimals to 4 digits 0.0001 and fullfilled their needs. As time went on, we now have problems in ledgerSettlements , Journals, and invoices etc etc duw to the last 2 digits out of 4 digits. Since all these use LedgerTrans Table in one or other way, LedgerTrans now contains 2 dgits or 4 digits Amounts and they are not tallying due to 3rd and 4th decimals. We have a lot of tickets logged in and wereally need to act very fast. Since we have this problem for finance transactions , I am going to round off of the amounts in AmoutCur and AmountMST fields in LedgerTrans table to 2 decimals. 1. Is that advisable? 2. did u face this kind of problems? or how did you tackle kind of problems?. Any help will be highly appreciated. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re-printing of Cheques
You have to set the payment line status to Rejected. You can then reprint a check. The system will not reuse the check number of course, Axapta will void the old check number. This works if you have not posted the journal. If you already posted the journal, you have to cancel the payment and create a new one. Hi Harry, One more thing that I noticed is that you can manually type a dimension that is not valid for the hierarchy. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Picking using barcode scanner
The standard functionality will allow you pick whatever serial number in on hand. You can also create serial numbers at the same time. You need to use the Pick form which can be launched for from the sales line (Inventory / pick) or pick and packing slip lines. You will of course need to customize the system to use a barcode scanner. They are a number of custom barcode applications already on the market whether they use a web application or a .NET application. I hope this helps. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Help on AOS , Application Server
Hi, Whether you use thin or fat clients, the client needs to be loaded on each machine. I guess what you heard about IE is probably regarding the Web deployed client which is just a way of loading the client software on client machine automatically. This method still loads the windows client. It is NOT a browser based client. As far as the application file is concerned, it contains all the Axapta classes (this is where all the logic is written), application indexes and label files. When you launch Axapta the AOS loads the application files in memory in order run them. The application files are not exe files. The client and the AOS contains exe file. I also just want to make it clear that the fat and thin clients one and the same, they have an identical footprint on the client machine. The client can just be run in different mode. The only applications you can run from a browser are the ones contained in the enterprise portal. I hope this helps Maurice Cohen Advanced Systems Integration, Inc. 26449 Rancho Parkway South Lake Forest, CA 92630 ph: 949-597-2170 fax: 949-597-0720 cell: 949-533-5966 From: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com [mailto:Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of G Radhakrishnan Sent: Tuesday, August 02, 2005 4:52 AM To: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Help on AOS , Application Server Thanks Maurice. Now my doubt is , since Iam planning to keep my D/Tops are as thin clients, whether I have to load anything on client machines? I understood from some sources that I have to only check whether IE is working or not on the client. Is it true ? Moreover, what exactly the meaning of application files and business logics ? Is application file means, .EXE files and what is that business logics? Is it some procedures and functions? RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Introduction...
Hi Harry, Version control is not necessary if you are the only developer working on a project. In this case, you are right you might as well backup the previous file. But if you work on large projects with multiple developers working on the same project affecting the same areas or not then version control becomes essential. With the version control we use we can keep track and compare changes made by different developers at the same layer. We can go back to any previous version. Versions can be saved for any project, group of projects or for all (build). Version control with a specific project is not practical since If I want to go back to the previous version then there is a very good chance that I will reset the code written for some other project and this thing will not be discovered till its too late. Version control will certainly work when the Axapta implementation is divided into various stages. However, in this case its easier just to keep a back up of axvar.aod I have not used any kind of a version control for the last three years and never had any problems. (Except @one site where I did keep a back up of axvar.aod @various points of time , it was a big and clearly defined project) Looking forward to your comments. regards harry Maurice Cohen [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Brandon, We experienced with visual source safe and Axapta but we determined that it was not practical. Instead we are using the Axapta version control (not a standard module) which works very well. Hello All! My Name is Brandon - I am a Software Engineer from Georgia, U.S. I was invited by someone to join this group. Our company is implementing Axapta right now, and I am part of the Development / Support / Admin team for it. This is my first exposure to axapta, but I have been developing software for years - I am a C# for Windows / Web / Mobile Developer, and I can't wait to start diving into X++ and Axapta. Anyway I do have a few questions: (1) Has anyone ever tried to store projects / objects etc. into VSS (Visual Source Safe)? We are wanting to continue to use VSS for our version control just like we use it for the rest of our projects. (2) Does anyone know of a User Import Util that will import users from The active directory and create users in axapta for them? (3) I am wanting to create a Collection of Table or a Table Collection. Is there a such thing in Axapta? If so how does one go about doing that? thanks, -Brandon www.axaptajobs.com P.S. I will be launching a new website called www.axaptajobs.com which will focus on connection companies with axapta pros! It's under construction but look for it soon! Sharing the knowledge on Axapta.
