Use either enterprise portal which has a sales role or Remote desktop or
Citrix if you want to use the windows client.

Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Remote Axapta client software?

We have a remote location - 2500 miles. They need to enter customer
orders, pick, pack, ship and invoice as well as online queries.

The Axapta client is inefficient for this type of connection over a DSL
line.

Does anyone have a better experience? Does anyone know of a client
specifically written for Axapta - perhaps an ASP?

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Invoice account vs order account in AR.

2006-05-26 Thread Maurice Cohen

In your case the invoice account is not a great solution because as you
stated all the A/R transactions are against the invoice account. You can
change the setting for the invoice address to go to the order account
instead of the invoice account but the transactions are still against the
invoice account. Instead, You may want to implement some other type of
grouping (maybe a financial dimension or a custom group) and modify the
report.

Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Invoice account vs order account in AR.

Hi,

We need to implement the concept of an umbrella account in Axapta. This
means that we have a big customer that has many accounts with us. Every
account gets its own set of invoices and statement at the end of the month.
What we however want to do is also provide the customer with a statement and
related invoices for the consolidated head office account (the umbrella
account). Also, when we look at our top 100 customers we would like Axapta
to look at the value of the umbrella account instead of at the individual
accounts.

My question is this: Is the invoice account/order account fields the correct
place to implement this? It seems to me as if all transactions and all
invoices lie against the invoice account even if you post to the order
account.

Can someone please shed some light on this for me?

Thanks,

 Hennie

Active directory is required in 4.0 and there is no way around it (this is
part of Microsoft trustworthy computing initiative).

4.0 is supported on SQL 2000 and 2005 although you need 2005 to use report
services.

The client can run on 2000, XP and Vista when it comes out.

Version control is supported via Visual Source safe which is now intergrated

Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Layman's Spec questions

Hi everyone,

I just finished reading Layman's Spec for AX40 and I have a couple of
questions:

* It says AX40 will use Active directory logon. Should I
understand by that, that we won't be able to enter a different login to
have access to Axapta? So we won't be able to login with 2 different
users on the same instance on the same machine?

* In the upgrade path it says that client CAN run on WinXP. Why
do they specify WinXP since it already runs on XP. Is Win2000 still
supported for AX40?

* Does AX40 require SQL Server 2005? I know I won't be able to
use Reporting Services if I don't have SQL Server 2005.

* Earlier I was told that Ax40 included a Version Control
system. But now I read that Ax40 will support Visual Source Safe. So
will I need to buy MS Visual SourceSafe to have a version control
system?

If you can answer anyone of those, that would be of great help.

Regards,

Steeve...

hei

As I activate a shipment Axapta should create picking routes for all orders

stay in status reserved and no picking routes are generated.

Please help - at what conditions it may occur and what to do to fix it?

Hi People,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to consolidate Inventory, AR and AP in
a multi-company setup.
Inventory: Total stock available across all companies in terms of each Item
AR: Total Recievable by a Customer to the entire company as a total of the
individual recievable at each company.\
AP: Total Payable by a Vendor by the entire company as a total of the
individual payable at each company.

If i login into any one company, i can see only the data of that particular
company in the AOT table.
Is there someway i can consolidate the same to generate a report or atleast
read data of all the companies in the requisite tables.

Thanks

Hi Kevin,

I'm pretty new to Axapta, but I don't believe there is any credit card

(which is not part of Axapta).

I would explore a solution through the MFR of the third party

I could be wrong of course. Without seeing your setup, it's hard to say
what's going on.

After we enabled Remote Desktop, we get a Declined in a simple

You have to use a unit of measure

InventTable-Quantity Table for this item for 'Purchase Order' quantity.

3. I created a PO with
'quantity' 25.04. So it shows up '25.04' on the PuchQty on the PurchOrder
purch Lines Tab. but it showsorderedQty as '25' only as it rounds
off to Zero decimals since it has no units InventTable - Quantity- Unit.

4. I put the debugging points right from PurchLine.ModifyPurchQty
to InventUpdate, Inventupd_* classes. to see the complete process and I understood
how the inventory movement is happening in the code.

But I have problem at the time of invoice due to '0.04' in update in
Inventupd_Pysical.updateNow as its throwing an error

So what is your experiences in invocing the PO
for service Items, i.e expense.

Do we need to have to specify the Unit of Measurement for that item
tied to a InventTable - Quantity-purchaseorder Column - Unit ?.

is there any way, we can avoid hitting inventory for this service
items?.

Appreciate your experiences.

Thanks Regards,

Subbu

Hello All,

I am working on Creating a
Consolidated Invoice Option, were a user can select a Customer, then select a Date Range,
and for the given Date
 Range, for all Sales
Orders, for that Customer are Invoiced as One Big Invoice.

Has anyone every done such a thing before?
I assume that I will need to create a new SalesFormLetter Child Class. (Ex:
SalesFormLetter_ConInvoice) That will do something similar to the
SalesFormLetter_Invoice class.

Anyway, if anyone can give me any pointers
in this I would apperciate it!

Hello Everyone,

I have some more advice that I need.

Ok we are getting sick of using the clunky
Axapta Report Designer. So we are investigating how easy it is just to scrap
the Axapta Reports, and do all reports in Crystal Reports?

Has anyone ever done this before? Does
anyone have any examples of using Crystal Reports and Axapta? Does anyone have
any experience at doing such a thing?

thanks in Advance, in advise on this -
either it's bad or good, or examples, any input at all please give it!

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Need some Help/thoughts

2005-08-25 Thread Maurice Cohen

We did something similar for purchase
orders where purchase prices per unit were up to 4 decimals ($2.5435). We had
to system use the 4 decimal precision to calculate the extended price and then
rounded it. You should not have some postings at 2 and some at 4 decimals in
ledgertrans or you are going to have the problem you are describing. I think
your only option is to round the amounts at this point.

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Need some Help/thoughts

Hi Guys,

I am in real shit. I am trying to see if any one has any
experiences on changing the AmountCur and AmountMst to 4 decimals.

Here is my scenario.

My Europe customer wanted to see
4 digits on Discounts and Qty on Sales Order module.

Initially we changed AMountCur and AmountMST, QTy EDTs to 4
decimals and curreny to 4 decimals in the exchange section. Then everything is
started shon up to 4 digits and finance people wanted not to see 4 digits. Yes,
it true they don;t want .

What we did was, we created an extended data type inheriting from
AmountCur and AmountMST changing the currency Decimals to 4
digits 0.0001 and fullfilled their needs.

As time went on, we now have problems in ledgerSettlements ,
Journals, and invoices etc etc duw to the last 2 digits out of 4 digits.

Since all these use LedgerTrans Table in one or other way, LedgerTrans
now contains 2 dgits or 4 digits Amounts and they are not tallying due to
3rd and 4th decimals.

We have a lot of tickets logged in and wereally need to act very
fast.

Since we have this problem for finance transactions , I am going to
round off of the amounts in AmoutCur and
AmountMST fields in LedgerTrans table to 2
decimals.

1. Is that advisable?

2. did u face this kind of problems? or how did you tackle kind of problems?.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re-printing of Cheques

2005-08-23 Thread Maurice Cohen

You have to set the payment line status to
Rejected. You can then reprint a check. The system will not reuse the check
number of course, Axapta will void the old check number. This works if you have
not posted the journal. If you already posted the journal, you have to cancel
the payment and create a new one.

Hi Harry,

One more thing that I noticed is that you
can manually type a dimension that is not valid for the hierarchy. I understand
that there is no easy way to make it work from every table where financial dimensions
are used. Just something you should be aware of.

hi,

Has anybody done this before?

Have anybody tried to make relation between

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Picking using barcode scanner

2005-08-16 Thread Maurice Cohen

The standard functionality will allow you
pick whatever serial number in on hand. You can also create serial numbers at
the same time. You need to use the Pick form which can be launched for from the
sales line (Inventory / pick) or pick and packing slip lines. You will of
course need to customize the system to use a barcode scanner. They are a number
of custom barcode applications already on the market whether they use a web
application or a .NET application. I hope this helps.

This is rather worrying given the nature
of the dev for one of our customers requires us to dev locally and raise to a

Maybe this is MBS's way to try to get

It seems I have v3.0 SP2 and some XPO

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Help on AOS , Application Server

2005-08-02 Thread Maurice Cohen

Hi,

Whether you use thin or fat clients, the
client needs to be loaded on each machine. I guess what you heard about IE is
probably regarding the Web deployed client which is just a way of loading the
client software on client machine automatically. This method still loads the windows
client. It is NOT a browser based client. As far as the application file is
concerned, it contains all the Axapta classes (this is where all the logic is
written), application indexes and label files. When you launch Axapta the AOS
loads the application files in memory in order run them. The application files
are not exe files. The client and the AOS contains exe
file. I also just want to make it clear that the fat and thin clients one and
the same, they have an identical footprint on the client machine. The client
can just be run in different mode. The only applications you can run from a
browser are the ones contained in the enterprise portal. I hope this
helps

Thanks Maurice. In our scenario, we have got many
D/Tops. So my architecture plans are as follows.

1. Database server - 1 (Backup is planned
seperately)
2. Application server - 1
3. AOS Server (Quanity depends on the usage).
Otherwise Application server will be having both
logics Files.

Now my doubt is , since Iam planning to keep my
D/Tops
are as thin clients, whether I have to load
anything
on client machines? I understood from some sources
that I have to only check whether IE is working or
not
on the client. Is it true ?

Moreover, what exactly the meaning of application
files and business logics ? Is application file
means,
.EXE files and what is that business logics? Is it
some procedures and functions?

Thanks in advance

Is there

The alternative item in the item master
only works for sales order entry and only applies to item on the sales line. It

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Master planning

Question 1: This is probably due to your
setting for negative days. The system would do what you are
describing if no negative days are set or if the incoming PO
is beyond your negative days setting. Otherwise, Axapta would not create a new
planned order and generate an advance message.

Question 2:. Action messages are create
for planned and real orders.

Question 3: Does not make any difference. Action
messages are related to existing planned or real orders. Coverage code governs
how planned order are created.

1) No matter what I try I do not

create a new planned purchase order!

Can anyone provide any doc or explain any
of the rules for how Axapta gives the different messages? Or
provideexanples of how to get each one

2) Are all the different action message
types generated for both planned and actual purchase orders, or only one of
them? Reading the help it is not clear to me and I just want to be clear
(like I said I dont seem to be able to get advance to work to even test and
determine this)

3)If I pick Requirement in the coverage
group, are the action messgages calculated any different to Period?

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Introduction...

Hi Harry,

Version control is not necessary if you
are the only developer working on a project. In this case, you are right you
might as well backup the previous file. But if you work on large projects with multiple
developers working on the same project affecting the same areas or not then
version control becomes essential. With the version control we use we can keep
track and compare changes made by different developers at the same layer. We
can go back to any previous version. Versions can be saved for any project, group
of projects or for all (build).

hi Maurice

I always wonder how any version control will work in Axapta.

Version control with a specific project is not practical since If I
want to go back to the previous version then there is a very good chance that I
will reset the code written for some other project and this thing will not be
discovered till its too late.

Version control will certainly work when the Axapta implementation is
divided into various stages. However, in this case its easier just to keep a
back up of axvar.aod

I have not used any kind of a version control for the last three years
and never had any problems. (Except @one site where I did keep a back up of
axvar.aod @various points of time , it was a big and clearly defined project)

Looking forward to your comments.
