Hi All,

Have anyone ever try to use batch helper in master scheduling? Is it working?
Because I’ve tried several times to request batch helper when running master
scheduling but when I see the log for master scheduling plan, no actual helper
was given.

Please kindly give your thought. Thanks

You are trying to run a piece of code that is intended to run on client only.
Check the error log in Batch History to know the exact line of code. Either
assert it to run on server or make it to run on both client & server.

Thanks,

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch Number Tracking - Forward and Reverse

2008-11-20 Thread visti_2001
Hi guys,

I need a small favour from you ppl.

I have a client requirement that is pretty common in AX

I have a Finished Item Having Batch no as FGXXX or Can be anything
else.

For this finished item, I have a couple of sub-assemblies and
purchased items each of these when issued for the Production orders
would have various Batch nos may be one or many.

We want a complete tracking forward and reverse for the same viz if
the Top Assembly of a particular batch number fails,we should have a
complete tracebality till the RM as from which batch it is taken
from.

If any body has any knowledge of the same kindly revert on priority
basis.

Thanks in advance

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch number

2008-10-25 Thread Jackie Bond
Dear All,

At the time of posting output through report as finished journal i want specify
expiry date for batch number or serial number. How can i achieve this. As when
i post this entry, on inventory management-> inquires -> dimension, when i see
them, it automatically updates mfg. date and expiry date as the date of posting
of "report as finished" journal. Mfg date is fine but how can i put in the
actual(user defined) expiry date while posting the output.

Hi

I do this using a utility called FireDaemon (see
www.firedaemon.com/<http://www.firedaemon.com/>) but you can also use the
SRVANY utility that is part of the Windows Server resource kit (I think).
FireDaemon is very cheap and I've found it to be much more reliable than SRVANY
as well as being easier to administer.

You may also find the article at

AX is online (everything happens at the time the user presses the button to
do something)
The only thing that is 'batch' is the inventory closing/recalcualtion (some
ppl might argue that such a thing makes all of AX batch because you have to
rely on the closing to be sure of the cost of items but in general 99% would
say Axapta is online processing)

mmm interesting...never noticed but guess it might be the the new job in the
queue is only added when the current batch finishes.

If you have something that needs another batch job to finish first you
should use the batch journal I believe this will make sure sequence is
correct and not bother to run later jobs if the first fails etc

All the best

Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] BATCH ID

Hi,

It is because EDT InventBatchId has InventBatchIdLookup formhelp properties.
It assumes the caller has itemid field so actually it run a query 'select *
from inventbatch where itemid=''' when opened from the query dialog.

So you need to modify the form to get correct lookup.

Hi everybody,

I would thankful if you could send me any related documents about

1- How to run an Axapta batch server as a Windows service.
2- How to configure an Axapta Batch Server to automatically use a

Hi

1)
Create a Batch Group

Basic-> Setup -> Batch -> Batch Groups -> create new group
with any name

2)
Start the session which you want to run at a scheduled time for
ex:

Administration -> Reports -> Performance Test Results -> CLick
on tab "Batch" -> Under General select the "Batch Processing" Box and under
Identification select the group name you have created from the drop down
menu. ->  Then click on Recurrence Button and specify the time at which
you want to  run and the starting date for scheduling .-> Click
OK

3)Start the Batch Process.

Basic
-> Periodic -> Batch -> Processing -> Select the group name and
click OK

Now
your batch process is ready to run at scheduled time.

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch Server setup

2005-11-15 Thread dband
Brandon,

I've got 3 clients running in this scenario now.

The down side of a 2 tier batch server is that if you have it pointing to a
separate application, then you have to be meticulous about keeping the 2
applications in sync when you make program changes. ie. Bring down the AOS and
the batch server and replace the application layer on both machines before
bringing up either.

As for performance, having the batch server as a 2 tier doesn't mean that the
throughput of batch jobs will be any faster, that's machine dependant. What it
does do is insure that the AOS(s) aren't slowed down by having to run batch
jobs. Although there can still be some degradation of the processes on the AOS
if your SQL box or network throughput aren't up to the task.

What you need to do is to set up a controlled environment for your situation
and test both 2 tier and 3 tier batch servers. In most cases you should see
beter performance of the AOS under the 2-tier batch server set up.

Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch-Job running on AOS?

2005-11-07 Thread Yurii Rasskazov

Hi All,

I have configured my batch server to run as Windows Service running under special domain account. I think it much nicer then scheduled task and does not require terminal session to be opened.. Both AOS and Batch are running on the same hosting machine, so we don't have to worry when we need to restart hosting machine, but we have to remember to restart batch server if AOS was restarted, otherwise service simply keep running even though it already lost it's connection to the AOS... I haven't noticed any big issues with such configuration yet, if anybody aware of any potential problems please let me know.

thanks,
Yurii.

Hi Herbert,

1): If you run the batch server at night, you will use one (or more) of the

2): you could set up a 3-tier fat client an the AOS server, so you don't need
an additional machine.
You could start that client automatically each night and shut it down in the
morning.

3) ok - this one is still not very nice...

Yes. If you intend to offset the load on the AOS it's best to use a batch
server. This should be a server equivalent to or almost equivalent to the
AOS and in the same area as the AOS and database servers with a high speed
connection to the database server (probably 1Gbps). This is simply a 3-tier
FAT client where the application is loaded via the AOS and executed on the
batch server. In addition the batch server is connected directly to the
database server and not via the AOS.

AW: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch-Job running on AOS?

2005-11-07 Thread Leberbauer Herbert - News
Hi!

I know about the batch-server. Sorry, if I didn't mention.

But there a several things, I do not like:
1.) I need a separate user-license for the batch-server. (Why? There is no
USER-interaction needed.)
2.) I need a machine for the batch-server. (Why? AOS-Servers often are idle
over night.)
3.) I have to monitor the batch-server by using Terminal-Services or the
console. (This kind of monitoring is very cumbersome.)

Now I see, there is no technical possibility to run jobs on the aos (without
GUI, without ax32.exe).

But if the AOS would be able to do my jobs, and if I had smooth monitoring
tools, I would not need batch-servers. Especially thinking of jobs, which
can be done overnight - I would not need a separate machine, because most of
our customers do not work at that time.

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch and Serial numbers

2005-11-07 Thread Alessandro Ghidini

Hi group.

    I
have purchase orders lines that covers trucks of material: one line one truck. Unfortunately
every truck have normally different material quantities.. So this quantities
are different from the corresponding order line..  When i process the item
arrival i must create a number of serial numbers one for every pallet on the
truck. I can use the serial number group feature for a new serial number
creation every X kg..

But..

I set up my system for automatic serial number allocation
during purchase order creation. So i find that serial number already ready when
i use the item arrival form.. How can i manage the situation when i need a
different number of serials number? I know i can allocate a new transaction and
associate to it a new serial number.. But how can i have a new AUTOMATIC serial
number for that line? The “Create serial numbers” does  not
permit me to use tha correct sequence number.. So.. Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.
