RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch
Hi I do this using a utility called FireDaemon (see www.firedaemon.com/<http://www.firedaemon.com/>) but you can also use the SRVANY utility that is part of the Windows Server resource kit (I think). FireDaemon is very cheap and I've found it to be much more reliable than SRVANY as well as being easier to administer. AX is online (everything happens at the time the user presses the button to do something) The only thing that is 'batch' is the inventory closing/recalcualtion (some ppl might argue that such a thing makes all of AX batch because you have to rely on the closing to be sure of the cost of items but in general 99% would say Axapta is online processing) _ From: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of sun.dare Sent: Wednesday, April 30, 2008 5:42 PM To: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] batch processing hi can u anyone tell whether axapta is batch processing or onlie processing. if it is please can u explain what is batchprocessing and what is online processing advance thanks

mmm interesting...never noticed but guess it might be the the new job in the queue is only added when the current batch finishes. If you have something that needs another batch job to finish first you should use the batch journal I believe this will make sure sequence is correct and not bother to run later jobs if the first fails etc All the best James _ From: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of chuapatrickd Sent: 04 January 2008 21:24 To: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch JOb HI to all, I have setup a batch job to run at 03:30am but I was surprised the everyday it add a few minutes to the starting time so much so that after several day the starting time is already 03:39 am. Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] BATCH ID
Hi, It is because EDT InventBatchId has InventBatchIdLookup formhelp properties. It assumes the caller has itemid field so actually it run a query 'select * from inventbatch where itemid=''' when opened from the query dialog. So you need to modify the form to get correct lookup. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch Server setup
Brandon, I've got 3 clients running in this scenario now. The down side of a 2 tier batch server is that if you have it pointing to a separate application, then you have to be meticulous about keeping the 2 applications in sync when you make program changes. ie. Bring down the AOS and the batch server and replace the application layer on both machines before bringing up either. As for performance, having the batch server as a 2 tier doesn't mean that the throughput of batch jobs will be any faster, that's machine dependant. What it does do is insure that the AOS(s) aren't slowed down by having to run batch jobs. Although there can still be some degradation of the processes on the AOS if your SQL box or network throughput aren't up to the task. What you need to do is to set up a controlled environment for your situation and test both 2 tier and 3 tier batch servers. In most cases you should see beter performance of the AOS under the 2-tier batch server set up. Danny Quoting Brandon George <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Thanks for your input, have you ever setup a Batch Server in 2-tier mode > while also running AOS? What are the down sides? RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch Server setup
Thanks for your input, have you ever setup a Batch Server in 2-tier mode while also running AOS? What are the down sides? What about code changes to the AOT, etc.? Plus has anyone ever done a profile to see how much more faster a 2-tier will process vs. a 3-tier fat client? thanks in Advance! -Brandon From: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of DannySent: Monday, November 14, 2005 11:06 PMTo: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.comSubject: RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch Server setup Brandon, If you set up your batch server as 2 tier and have the configuration point to the same application as the AOS, you should see some improvements in throughput. Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch-Job running on AOS?
Hi All, I have configured my batch server to run as Windows Service running under special domain account. I think it much nicer then scheduled task and does not require terminal session to be opened.. Both AOS and Batch are running on the same hosting machine, so we don't have to worry when we need to restart hosting machine, but we have to remember to restart batch server if AOS was restarted, otherwise service simply keep running even though it already lost it's connection to the AOS... I haven't noticed any big issues with such configuration yet, if anybody aware of any potential problems please let me know. thanks, Yurii. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch and Serial numbers
Hi group. I have purchase orders lines that covers trucks of material: one line one truck. Unfortunately every truck have normally different material quantities.. So this quantities are different from the corresponding order line.. When i process the item arrival i must create a number of serial numbers one for every pallet on the truck. I can use the serial number group feature for a new serial number creation every X kg.. But.. I set up my system for automatic serial number allocation during purchase order creation. So i find that serial number already ready when i use the item arrival form.. How can i manage the situation when i need a different number of serials number? I know i can allocate a new transaction and associate to it a new serial number.. But how can i have a new AUTOMATIC serial number for that line? The “Create serial numbers” does not permit me to use tha correct sequence number.. So.. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance. Alessandro Ghidini Ing. Urgh, a job can't be extended over a batch class; You should instead create a class that extends a 'batchable' class, and call that (p.e.) job via menufunction... or rather better, create a batch class that make the job's dirty job... [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Batch Server setup
I have set up a service for my batch server. I have verified that the user has the right to run axapta for batch processing. My batches never run. If I manually login the batch service starts and all the batch jobs that had not ran start to run. Anyone have any ideas what I might have missed? Thank you. Yahoo!
