Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Leonardo/Simas family in Humboldt County
Trisha, You have names and dates, but you need the freguesia (village) over there to begin your search. Here's a how to from the Azores Genweb of ideas on how to find your freguesia: https://goo.gl/vOijK0 Since their names a little different, you *might* be able to find the outbound from the Azores on the "Passaportes." You have "about" dates. So start there, and then search a year before and then a year after. Then keep expanding. You want to look in the port of Angra: http://tombo.pt/en/d/acores Good luck, Cheri Cheri Mello Listowner, Azores-Gen Researching: São Miguel island: Vila Franca, Ponta Garca, Ribeira Quente, Ribeira das Tainhas, Achada On Tue, Mar 21, 2017 at 4:26 PM, Trishawrote: > Hello! > > I have been working on my genealogy for quite some time. [AZORES-Genealogy] Leonardo/Simas family in Humboldt County
Hello! I have been working on my genealogy for quite some time. My family from the Azores is a complete brick wall. Here is what I know: My great grandpa was Frank Joseph Leonardo (Possibly Francisco Jose) b. 1889 in Terceira. He emigrated in abt. 1909. He married: Emelia (census says Amelia) Gertrude Simas b. 1894 in Terceira. She emigrated in about 1913. Besides that, I really have zero information on them. Franks mothers maiden name may have been Goncalves. I have found census info for a "Amancio Golcalves Leonardo" who I believe may be Franks older brother. Emelia's mothers maiden name may be Brito. Anyone know of what I should be looking? I'm so lost here. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Azores Genealogy" group. You are all very welcome. If anyone else sees this thread after the fact please just send me a note and I will see what I can do. It has now been removed from public access on AzoreanGravestones which was being used to host the file (I have just over 40 Azorean history/genealogy books on the back end of the site). Thank you! Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Question about baptism wording
I would guess the the betrothed are waiting for the dispensation to go through. They are probably cousins. So while waiting, they start their family. [AZORES-Genealogy] Question about baptism wording
I am just curious to the layout of this baptism record. http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SJR-VL-NORTEGRANDE-B-1839-1854/SJR-VL-NORTEGRANDE-B-1839-1854_item1/P184.html In this it is for Joam son of Dona Maria with Antonio Pedroza de Borba Junior. Typically they seem to go Child son/daughter of Father and Mother. I know it may seem trivial but was just curious. The other records around it seem to be in the father and mother order. -Eddie -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Azores Genealogy" group.
