I'm researching my Great Grandfather and cannot figure out his parents 
names, mainly trying to trace my last name as far back as I can and I'm 
stuck, any help would be appreciated.

BIRTH 5 MAR 1864 • Calheta, Azores, Portugal (Not 100% sure on his place of

Thanks Margaret, another José! :) Still the age on the death record is off,
they forgot to add the "pouco mais ou menos".
Do you have more record on the mother? I'm wondering why she show's as
Maria Miguelina on her marriage, and Maria dos Anjos on her children
baptism and death records...

I am asking for other sibbling because i'd like to try to find descendants
of this couple.

OK, I found a marriage for Antonio da Costa Venancio, 1874, Image #2 Santo
Amaro. He is from Nossa Senhora do Rosario, Lagoa, Sao Miguel and the son
of Elias da Costa Venancio & Mariana de Jesus. Hope someone has him in
their tree!!

what that link is all about. It's an index of something called *Índices do 
Cartório da Mitra de Angra*, that is slowly becoming available in the 
*Atlântida* magazine, and can be helpflul to Genealogy.

In adition, a relative of mine found the death record for the priest José 
Jacinto Ferreira Pimentel. He died in 1888 at the age of 54 in Ribeira Chã, 
and it states that his parents were from *Villa da Lagoa*. I tried to 
shearch the matching period of his birth, but so far nothing. 

Anyone came across his parents?

[AZORES-Genealogy] Biscoitos Baptism record

I think there is an error in this Biscoitos Baptism. What does the margin say? 
In the text it indicated the baby as Domingas, a daughter of Gaspar Alvares and 
Isabel Nunes. I have seen this posted in an online tree as Domingos, their son. 
And the way Im reading it the godparents are Manuel Goncalves and Apolania 
Nunes of Altares

My dear father was able to spend his time copying these records when we visited 
in 1996! The parish priest allowed us to borrow them. I am so happy that they 
are finally available to others via my friend Kathy Andrade Cardoza’s posting 
on the Azores Gen Web!! It’s wonderful to hear that you are getting so much out 
of them!  

It’s a mystery about the other villages... I’ve heard rumors that there might 
be some. I know there are some for São Jorge.
