To support the baptism of Matias I provided, here is a what I believe to be 
his marriage (right side)

24 Jan 1760, Matias Cardoso son of Manuel Ferreira Cardoso and his wife 
Maria Sylveira natives of the parish of Ribeiras, Island of Pico, marrying 
Maria Antonia, daughter of Manuel Machado Falcão (I think) and his wife 
Maria da Conceição natives of the parish of (Santo Antonio?)

And I believe this is their child Margarida, born 15 Oct 1762 in Porto 
Judeu (bottom right)

And here is what I believe to be Maria Antonia’s baptism (top right):

Maria, daughter of Manuel Machado Falcão and his wife Maria da Conceição, 
natives and parishioners of this parish of Santo Antonio, born 7 October 
1731.

I do believe this is the same Matias and Maria Antonia in all of these 
records from Sé and Porto Judeu on Terceira and from Ribeiras on Pico, but 
I am never 100% sure of anything.  I am also not sure of the name Falcão 
because it is not clear to me in either record.  I do see the compound 
surname of Machado Falcão on the Terceira marriage index in Porto Judeu; 
but not with the first name Manuel.

I have not tested MtDNA, but even if I had this is not my maternal line 
since my direct maternal line is from São Miguel where my mother’s mother 
is from.  It is my mother’s father that was from Terceira.

Yes. This is her maternal line that matches mine two maternal lines. 
So are you confirming that this Mathius Cardoso that was born in Ribeiras, Pico 
is the same one that was in Porto Judeu, Terceira?

I do not know if this is your direct maternal lines but what I’m trying to do 
is connect Sandra’s Maria do Carmo to one of my two lines (since she matches 
both) 

Sandra has Maria do Carmo, daughter of Antonio Vieira (born in Lajes, Terceira) 
and Margarida Antonia (born 1762 in Porto Judeu) married 1782 in Ribeirinha, 
Terceira.  Margarida Antonia is the daughter of Mateus Cardoso (born in 
Ribeira, Pico) and and Maria Antonia (born in Porto Judeu) married in unknown 
location.

These two maternal lines have a Genetic Distance of zero as well as Sandra’s

I‘m working on a maternal lines that matches my dad’s maternal lines of Machado 
de Castro and Leonardo Goncalves that leads back to the mid 1600’s. The person 
I’m helping is a maternal cousin of my but through MtDNA she matches several 
cousin from the other side of my tree.
I’m looking at their daughter Maria da Resurreicao who married Manuel Vieira. 
Their son Antonio Vieira married Margarida Antonia and they had a daughter 
named Maria do Carmo. It is this Maria do Carmo that has to tie into my dad’s 
maternal lines. I’m trying everything I can to get back a few more genreations. 
This is what I have Maria do Carmo Born 12/22/1788 in Ribeirinha and dies 
12/31/1866 in Ribeirinha marries Joao Toste de Freitas in 11/29/1818 (I have 
the link to this record). Her marriage record says her parents are Antonio 
Vieira (born in Lajes) and Margarida Antonia (born in Port Judeu). They married 
12/22/1782 in Ribeirinha (I have the link). It says Margarida Antonia’s parents 
are Mateus Cardoso of Ribeiras, Pico and Maria Antonia of Porto Judeu. I either 
need their marriage record or Maria Antonia birth record or death record 
(before 1767). The records of Porto Judeu do not go back far enough.

Hello Doreen,

I see the date as 8/24/1705.

Groom is Manuel Martins son of Simão Martins and Maria Pacheco from Porto Judeo.
Bride is Luzia Pereira do Rosario daughter of Andre Faleiro (deceased) and 
Barbara da Costa from Lajes.

If I am reading correctly the groom parents are my ancestors also and their 
marriage is the easy to find because it is the first marriage recorded in Porto 
Judeu.

Is this another common ancestor we have?  Our ancestries are already fairly 
tangled in Ribeirinha.
