RE: [backstage] Tags du jour
I saw a really nice, nifty little widget for social bookmarking on this site: http://foxattacks.com/iran Avoiding the content and topic of this site (which I happen to agree with, anyway), scroll down past the YouTube vid and - see the little maroon Digg-like icon? Click it. Not only does it add another +1 vote (a pssst I suppose) it then gives you the links to bookmark with the most popular sites, as well as email it and add it to your facebook. I've not tried them, but they must work, and I think it's a very nifty idea. It's like five or six bookmarklets condensed! But unfortunately from what I can tell it's a bespoke solution... I'd love to have something like that available to use, it's really handy. _ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Andrew Bowden Sent: 24 August 2007 09:04 To: backstage@lists.bbc.co.uk Subject: RE: [backstage] Tags du jour Can't say I've ever used buttons like that - if I can't do something like that via a bookmarklet, I don't do it at all! James, you may be interested to know that that link (presumably your blog) is blocked by Websense (yes, I work Saturdays); apparently: The Websense category Social Networking and Personal Sites is filtered. What exactly do you have on there. I'm intrigued... I'm certainly going to check it out at home now. Vijay. Hehe, I know the people who run my local web cafe, fortunatly they're nothing like that and still let people do virtually anything that dosn't take up large amounts of bandwidth. They use Deep Freeze ( http://www.faronics.com/html/deepfreeze.asp) to limit ant damage. Personally I like to confuse people by booting my own OS on their PCs http://www.pendrivelinux.com/2007/04/02/qemu-persistent-slax-linux/ at the very least, I use my own browser: http://portableapps.com/ , as I've got it set up just right. I wonder what these other cyber cafes would think of that? Vijay.
