Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula-usersway too large incremental backup...
OK problem solved ! The command list files jobid=NNN helped out a lot to see what was going on, just a bit difficult to see all 40 files... The interesting bit was that 99% of a backup jobid concerned exactly 4 out of 23 shares. Checking the rsyncs with all flags/modifications/etc... the rsync modifications account to less than a 1gb per day. Something MUST be going on on the backup server. After a lot of testing we found out that somebody had installed a shell script to chmod & chgroup files & directories on those 4 directories on the backup server !!! Now bacula is backing up real good... under a Gb per day :o) Differential is also OK. If you use bacula on rsync backups, it works great but don't touch/chmod/chANYTYHING the archives ! Mank thanks to all for your help and guidance. -- Sebastian Perkins Responsable Informatique [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wes Hardaker a écrit : "SP" == Sebastian Perkins <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes: SP> 2) Is there a way to show the list of files being saved from a job/client ? Within bconsole, you can use "list files jobid=NNN" where NNN is the jobid that last ran. I wouldn't think that rsynced files would be a problem, at least if you weren't doing anything odd. - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. [Bacula-users] Restore Help with a restore?
I was wondering if anybody has an idea on how to get past this restore issue? I am having this restore issue with my normal OLD DL7000 drive and a a backup I did on a test LTO-3 drive. I suspect that it's the file that I am attempt to restore. Some of my vmware files were moved to /lost +found when I did a fsck. Figuring I could go back to tape I wiped my vmware files and now I would like the restore to continue ignoring errors (Give me what it can :-) ). [Bacula-users] Bacula and Daily Full Backups
Hey there, I'm new to Bacula and need a simple question answered. The company I am setting Bacula up with uses a simple VX-2 tape drive. I have Bacula talking to it and all is well. The issue is, they want to do daily full backups Mon - Fri. Problem I get is, Bacula wants to have the tapes as part of a Pool. These guys have no real technical knowledge, and just want to be able to change the tape and it will. Is there a way to get Bacula to ignore Media Pools or make it automatically add the tape to the Media Pool if it is not, and then overwrite any data that is on it? Thanks for the help, Robert Birch- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. There are several solutions: - in your check_command, use a script that feeds bconsole with input like 'status client=...' and parse the output. This is complicaed because Nagios' macros don't necessarily map to the names you use in Bacula. - use check_bacula which is distributed with Bacula. It's a Nagios plugin which returns the correct exit code and one line of status text. Works great here :-) Getting this to compile can be a bit of work, though - there are probably helpful messages in this list's archives, and the -devel ones, too. From the User Manual for the MSL6000 series, but should be also for MSL5000 series. 100F SCSI Un-terminated Resets (SCSI Continuous Resets Detected) • Verify that the library SCSI bus is properly terminated. • Update the Map using the LCD touch display. (Menu -> Maintenance -> Force reconfiguration) Likely, the SCSI bus is not terminated properly or you have a defective SCSI cable or terminator. Hi There. Is there a way to list files backed up in a certain Set? If I try to find based on the client, nothing is found, which I know is wrong. Re: [Bacula-users] 2.2.7-reserve: HP MSL-5030 Libraray with 2 LTO2 drive
Hello, The proper way to resolve this problem is to discuss it on the bacula-users list as recommended at: http://www.bacula.org -> Support. Then if they believe that it is a software error (impossible for me to determine from what you have provided since there is no Bacula output provided), you would proceed to write up a bug report: http://www.bacula.org -> Bugs This may be related to bug #1032, and if it is, it would not be useful to open a new bug report but could potentially be useful to add to that bug. With the information presented here, it looks to me like a hardware problem, an mtx problem, or possibly some manifestation of bug #1032. [Bacula-users] library auto clean
My new VXA packetloader tape library has an option to clean itself when needed if I keep a cleaning tape in the library and configure it to do so. Does anyone know if this feature plays well with bacula? I'm wondering what happens if it decides to clean itself in between tape loads or something. I ran into this problem today as well, so here's the answer for the archives. In order to restore from a job whose FileSet has readfifo=True [1], you need to have a program to read from the fifo that's created. I.e., simply doing: $cat /tmp/bacula-restores/path/to/fifo > /path/to/final/file.sql Should be enough. In order to restore that to pg, you'd have to use pg_restore, as the instructions on the wiki use the custom format for the dump. [Bacula-users] Mixed drives in Autochanger
We have a Neo8000 with 2 LTO-3 drives. We are looking into the possibility of adding 2 LTO-4 drives to it. Can Bacula handle two different types of drives in the same autochanger? I don¹t need the LTO-4 drives to read the LTO-3 tapes or anything. If you are using a shell script to create your hard links you could modify it to obtain the times and then execute touch with the appropriate options. cmr -- Debian 'Etch' - Registered Linux User #241964 "More laws, less justice." -- Marcus Tullius Ciceroca, 42 BC - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. [Bacula-users] Volume Full
Hello, I have set up bacula to save the backups in an external HD. The HD was 80% full with other backups, and when bacula was doing the job, the volume ran out of space. After that, I deleted all the other backups from other backup solutions, and update the volume from the bconsole from full to append. The job is still not running. What can I do to let bacula finish the job and continue appending data to de disk? There is a lot of space now. [Bacula-users] incremental backup of hard links
I create hard links for the files I want to backup so that while I do the backup the files can get deleted by someone else. The problem is that on an incremental backup I get a backup of all the files again like I got on a full backup. I create all the hard links right before the backup. A hard link points to the same file with the same date and so. Why does bacula backup all the files again? Thank you for your help.
