Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Updated New Default skin
I don't find the thin black line to be clear enough, especially when the grey highlighting is on the dragged item. You mean it's not visible enough? There is an inconsistency with the Edit Playlist D'n'D. In that I'm currently refactoring the d'n'd code in a common class which will be used by all d'n'd instances in the web gui. This should solve the inconsistencies. 1. I often go to the playlists, select a playlist and then try to D'n'D the songs on the playlist from that screen, only to realise that I am highlighting the text on the songs, because I haven't chosen to edit the playlist yet. isn't this part of what Brian commented to your bug: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5797#c5 ? 2. When I want to drag an item at the top of the list to the bottom of the list, I have to drop it near the bottom of the screen, then scroll down a bit, drag and drop a bit further down, scroll, etc. It may be nice if the list could scroll up/down if the mouse is moved near the top/bottom of the list. This should work: as you get close to the end of the list, the panel should scroll automatically. Just tested in FF2 IE6 on Windows. 3. As has been said already, it would be nice to be able to D'n'D between left and right panels. I did some more investigation, especially in the forums of the JS framework we're using. General consensus is: no way. Nobody was able to point to a web site where this would be described or used. d'n'd between HTML documents doesn't seem to be possible :-(. ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Update on Pandora in SlimServer 7
I've been trying out SC7 for several weeks. At the moment I'm running the Dec-13 nightly build. If I set my two SB3s to synch and start playing one of my Pandora stations on one of them, the both play in sync very nicely. w00t!! But I've observed that after several tracks play the music stops. The SB3 display says STOPPED. If press PLAY or NEXT on the remote, I get the following message on the SB display. HOURLY SKIP LIMIT EXCEEDED. Sometimes, if I go back and re-select the same station, it will start again, but stop after one song. Other times, when I go back and re-select the same (or even any other station), it just keeps giving me the same message. At this point, I get irritated, and just switch back to SqueezeNetwork to get to Pandora. But now, of course, I can't synch anymore. If I use only a single SB3 to listen to a Pandora station via SC7, it behaves as expected. That is, it plays continually without stoppage. I know from experience that HOURLY SKIP LIMIT EXCEEDED is how Pandora responds if you get too happy with the next button. It seems as if the method for interfacing with Pandora with SC7 when using synchronization results in the equivalent of NEXT being sent to Pandora for each new track. This feature is really the only reason I have for trying out SB7. Andy, I hope this is something you can get fixed. I don't find the thin black line to be clear enough, especially when the grey highlighting is on the dragged item. You mean it's not visible enough? Sorry, yes - not visible enough - clear could have two meanings :-) 1. I don't think so. That CR is about how edit of playlist entries is handled, in terms of changing the title or URL of an entry, once you have clicked Edit Playlist. I'm now wondering why there is the Playlist (with Save button) and Edit Playlist (with Done Editing link). Playlist editing seems really rough to me. Currently, from clicking on a playlist in the playlists list, the user can: 1. rename the playlist and press save. 2. play or add tracks to the current playlist. 3. Delete the playlist. 4. Click edit. Then add a new Title/URL, delete an entry, or drag and drop tracks to change the track ordering. Then click Done Editing to return to the playlist. There's no other way back, and changes are committed, even though on the screen you return to there is a Save button. Hence I was suggesting that the ability to add tracks to the playlist and D'n'D could be done on the main playlist editing screen, and do away with Add and Edit Playlist buttons. This should work: as you get close to the end of the list, the panel should scroll automatically. Just tested in FF2 IE6 on Windows. Doesn't work for me in FF2 or IE6. I just tried again. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Updated New Default skin
I'll think about this a bit more. Don't know yet how to handle it best. Some suggestions to throw in the pot: 1. Make the black insertion line thicker. 2. Display Up/Down arrows below/above the black isertion line, to point where the insertion will occur too. 3. Show the item in its new position, rather than floating where the mouse is. 4. Highlight the dragged item and the item it is dragged over in different colours. 5. Display the dragged item a bit to the right, so the insertion line is visible on the left half, and some of the draggable item on the right half of the current playlist panel. Another issue with showing the isertion point is that it sometimes doesn't seem to calculate it correctly, or not at all. It seems that if you are dragging an item above from where it used to be, the isertion point is the position above the item it is dragged on to. Dragging lower that the current positio, displays the isertion point after the item it is dragged on to. However, sometimes if I drag up and down the list for a bit, this rule seems to go astray, and the insertion line is sometimes above or below the item I am hovering above. Sometimes the line doesn't appear at all (eg. when hovering on the last item, I would expect the line to be at the very bottom, but it's not there and when I release, the item stays where it was picked up from. Sorry, can't be more exact than that at the moment - it doesn't quite seem right all of the time, and I haven't spotted the pattern yet. I thought that bug has become the general playlist editing needs rework bug. That two step thing really isn't intuitive. In the end it should behave identical to the favorites plugin. Okay. Try getting to the bottom slowly... Don't rush outside the frame. Oooh. It does work if I hover over the last visible item and wait a second. The mouse pointer has to be a few pixels above the bottom of the panel - I think I was slowly dragging down and stopping within 1 or 2 pixels of the bottom before. ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
