Thanks!
One thing I forgot: If You look for the file/artist described above,
it's actually named "Tina (02)" ( did some remaining meanwhile to ensure
"new and changed" recognizes it as "changed").

I can only confess: First of all: Many thanks for the excellent work. If
we are "complaining" here, it's on a very high level.

So nearly all problems are solved with r1414759442:
- LMS is starting in 12 seconds again - even with FTS plug in activated
- FTS scans my 420k library in 6 minutes - fine!

I now configures the configurable menus and all is as it should be:
- "Tina Werner" is in the list of "All artists" which I set to
"ALBUMARTISTS, ARTISTS, TRACKARTISTS"

BUT

.. the only thing that doesn't work correctly seems to be FTS
For although "Tina Werner" is in the db as TRACKARTIST ans is in the
"Trackartist"-List - it is found by FTS in no combination - it just
gives no result...

Thanks for caring! :-)

For instance, the My Music / Browse Artists "i" just says Browse
Artists.

Thanks! I took your wording and added the description to the web UI.

But it only includes:
- albums, where the artist is "album artist"
and
- albums, where the artist is a "(track) artist", when the album has set
NO "album artist" or "album artist" is set to "various artists" (and
compilation = "1")

It does NOT include
- albums, where the artist is a "track artist" and someone else is
"album artist".

This is not consequent, isn't?`

I think that's exactly how it's supposed to be. "track artists" are
treated like "album artists" if there's no "album artist" for a given
folder. If there is an AA, then the track artist is not shown.

If I chose the option "Use single, configurable list..." - how can I
"configure" it?

You can define what type of contributor should be listed in the artists
list: band, composer etc. It's the old behaviour, as known in 7.8 and older.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Scan doesn't find new artists if there is more than one artist

2014-10-30 Thread Wirrunna

Michael, I think frank1969 has hit on the missing element of your recent
excellent work on Browse Modes - we don't really know what each option
does.

For instance, the My Music / Browse Artists "i" just says Browse
Artists.

Could the "i" list what the two options do - for example
Use two separate lists for Album Artists and All Artists - Album Artists
is a list where Album Artist is the sole artist on an album or is the
artist specified in the "Albumartist" tag. All Artists is a list of
every artist that appears in the "Artist" tag.
Use single, configurable list of artists - This is configured in the
Additional Browse Mode plugin.

Then in Player / Additional Browse Modes there is the option to select
menu names.

Again for each row could there either be a "Contains" column or an "i"
field such as:
Album Artists - the sole artist on an album or the artist specified in
the "Albumartist" tag.
Artists - the sole artist on an album
All Artists - a list of every artist that appears in the "Artist" tag.
Albums - a list of the "Album" tag.
Random Albums - a random list of albums.
Compilations - a list of albums that are compilations (compilation tag =
1 or multiple artists in the artist tag)
etc.

This probably shows my lack of understanding on how these extra browse
modes are meant to work.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Scan doesn't find new artists if there is more than one artist

2014-10-30 Thread frank1969

I think I found out what causes this behaviour - but I think it's a bug
or not a feature:

I have "My Music" set to "Use single configurable list of artists "Only
show tracks or albums matching the selected genre of an artist".
This works fine that it avoids to see all the albums the artist is only
composer in my list (e.g. when i search for Bob Dylan, I don't wanna see
the albums of german singer "Mary Roos" just cause she covered some
Dylan-songs...)

But it only includes:
- albums, where the artist is "album artist"
and
- albums, where the artist is a "(track) artist", when the album has set
NO "album artist" or "album artist" is set to "various artists" (and
compilation = "1")

It does NOT include
- albums, where the artist is a "track artist" and someone else is
"album artist".

This is not consequent, isn't?`

I would expect to see:
Either only albums where the artist is "album artist"
or (preferably)
all albums where the artis is "album artist" OR "track artist".

But the most confusing thing - I think - is, that when You start a
search right from LMS home page (using the "reading glass symbol") -
artist is not found at all, if he only is track artist on another
artists album ... (But it IS found when he/she is track artist on at
least one compilation album (or has an album on its own).

So I think, this should be thought over (while I admit, it hast nothing
to do with FTS)

Second question:
If I chose the option "Use single, configurable list..." - how can I
"configure" it?

Thanks :-)

I just did - tested with "Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 -
1412783275 @ Thu Oct 9 04:05:15 CUT 2014" - and it's "broken", too -
same situation as with the most recent nightly. So, You're right, it
didn't come with FTS - it seems to exist "longer".

Did some other testing too:
- Did a full rescan with the actual nightly - same mistake
- Made a "1:1" copy of the album where I DELETED the album artist and
rescanned with most recent nightly. The result is quite surprising:
Anything is fine, "Tina Werner" can be found via search function and is
listed in the artists list (only: the album is now listed under "various
artists" of course.

I just sent You the file by mail @slimserver.com - although I don't
believe it's a problem with tagging.

The only thing I have in mind:
I'm working with cofigurable artist lists in settings and with the
option "Nur zur gewählten Rolle passende Alben und Titel anzeigen"?
Two things that point against this reason:
- This would maybe explain the missing in artists section - but it
should be found via search?

Thanks

Frank

So anything is going wrong with the search routine in the nightlies...

Your claim was that it worked fine in 7.9 until I added full text
search. Could you please double-check with an old 7.9 build to confirm
this? A lot has change wrt. artist handling long before the fts.

(Rem.: On this 7.8.1 she is not listed in the "artists section" as well
- but this seems only to include artists that have at least one album
where they are listed as "album artist" - has there been another
behaviour in 7.8.1 - and could this behaviour has "come back" in the
lastest nightlies?)

Please send me that file so I can investigate its tags.
